Hello everyone! Welcome back to this story! I've prepared another chapter for you guys, but before we read…
Shout out to KingGhidorah91! Thank you for your support.
Okay now you can read the chapter. Sit back, get comfy, and enjoy chapter 11!
Sunny's (POV)
I wake up to the sound of rustling dragons. It seems like really early in the morning, but Starflight, Tsunami, and Clay are all already up.
"Um?" I say. "You guys up already?"
"Yeah, couldn't sleep," Clay says. I nod in understanding, but can't help but notice how tired the three of them look.
I glance over my shoulder to see Jambu and Parrot dozing away peacefully, and feel instantly bad when Tsunami shakes them awake.
"We should get going," she says with a certain urgency in her tone. I immediately agree, wanting to get to our missing friend immediately.
We take off as soon as we eat what Clay packed for breakfast. We fly over the Mud Kingdom, but we make sure the clouds conceal us from any hunters for our pack.
The winds get rougher as we get higher in altitude.
"Are we almost there?" I ask, but no one seems to hear me. "Are we almost there?" I shout as loud as I can, but to the others it sounds like gibberish.
"What?" Clay asks, but I can barely hear him. This doesn't seem natural. I feel a small sucking motion and look ahead. The others are slightly ahead of me, but all they seem to be concentrating on is not getting blown away by the relentless winds.
And that's when I see it. Through the thick layer of fog and clouds, I see it. It's very faint and almost invisible, but I have a good eye for hidden details.
About thirty meters ahead, a massive tornado swirled, sucking everything in its path into that deadly whirl.
But unfortunately, it was very hidden, what with all the dense clouds and fog obscuring it.
"Guys!" I shout to the others, but they don't hear me at all. I feel a wing brush against me and realize it's Tsunami. "Tsunami," I say. She looks at me.
"Yes?" she asks.
"Tornado ahead." I try to sound casual, but there's no use. My voice sounds panicked, and anyone could notice. Tsunami's head whips ahead, and she squints, attempting to get a glimpse of its horrifying look.
And I can tell when she finally notices it because her face goes as pale as plaster and she slows down. Luckily, Tsunami has a great yelling voice, so maybe the others will hear her.
"Guys!" she yells. To my relief, they hear her.
"Yeah?" Clay asks, slowing down, which in turn causes everyone else to slow down.
"Tornado!" She points to the swirling suction of wind, which is now more obvious now that we're closer.
"Woah." I hear Clay faintly gasp. He motions for everyone to stop. We turn around, but the wind seems to have gotten stronger.
I can barely fly in the opposite direction, and that's when I know what's happening. We're being sucked into the tornado.
We have to get out of this horrible mess, or else we won't survive.
I look behind me to see everyone else also struggling. Jambu and Parrot are the farthest behind and the closest to the stormy beast, which worries me, because they're not that strong.
To my horror and slight relief, Clay stays back and positions himself behind the two struggling RainWings, making sure that if anyone gets sucked in, it's him.
I can't see ahead of me anymore, but I know it's just plain clouds and fog, so I don't hesitate to keep moving.
I look behind me once more, but only to see Tsunami and Starflight struggling in the intense winds. "Where are Clay and the RainWings?" I ask worriedly.
Tsunami and Starflight then look behind themselves, and their expressions change immediately.
The immediate thought that appears in my head is, they got sucked in. But I brush it off, knowing how strong and protective Clay is, and how he would try with all his might to save the RainWings, hopefully meaning he would save himself as well. But Clay was very selfless, so I wouldn't know.
"They're probably just covered by the clouds," Tsunami reassures, which works slightly. I nod, but in my head, I'm conjuring up all of the worst possible scenarios, which is probably not the best thing to do in these circumstances.
I peer as closely as I can through the fog that lay behind where Clay and the two RainWings should be. Unless I'm imagining it out of desperation, I see a colorful figure, presumably Parrot, and a brown one with another colorful figure on its back. Definitely Clay and Jambu.
But to my utter and complete horror, the tornado seems to be moving towards us. Its gargantuan form creeps me out as it sucks everything from clouds to trees to random things floating in the air in its deadly vacuum.
I watch it, mesmerized. Tsunami and Starflight seem to notice Clay, Jambu, and Parrot struggling out of the path of the tornado.
We hover for a while, trying to stay in the air, when Tsunami finally says, "I'm going to go help them." I want so badly to help them as well, but I'd more likely just be a burden. I nod, but just as Tsunami readies herself to fly straight towards the eye of the storm, Starflight stops her.
"You can't just do that without a plan," he says smartly, but I can only just barely make out what they're saying.
"Well, what do you want me to do?" Tsunami retorts, agitated.
"I'm not sure, but if you fly in there without some sort of plan, you'll find yourself being sucked into that thing." Then he pauses, deep in thought.
Tsunami watches him impatiently, while I admire his wits and logic. Tsunami could be dead if it weren't for his wisdom.
He finally emerges from his mind. "How about this? Stay a good distance from the tornado, but close enough to it that Clay can see you through all the fog. When the tornado moves a specific direction towards something, the exact opposite direction is normally the safest. Get as close to the other side as you can, then let Clay know to fly the other way in a sort of roundabout loop using body gestures. Got it?" I sure didn't get half of what he said, but Tsunami looks like she's registering it all.
"Yep, I think so." She turns her body slightly away from the tornado. She gives Starflight and I a nod before taking off in a direction close to that of the tornado.
I watch apprehensively as Tsunami sloppily flaps through the gusts of wind. She suddenly changes courses and makes a beeline straight for Clay and the other two. I look at Starflight, not exactly knowing if this was part of the plan, but without him saying anything, I can tell it isn't, because his face changes into a complexion of confusion, rage, and worry.
"What is she doing?" he asks rhetorically. "That wasn't part of the plan!" I suddenly feel sick to my stomach. "She's gonna kill herself! It's enough to worry about one missing dragon, not one missing and one dead!" I've never in my life heard Starflight speak like this. He must be really worried. I am too.
I spot Clay hovering only meters from the whirling beast. I'm surprised, relieved, and impressed that he hasn't gotten sucked in yet, especially with the weight of two more dragons.
I can barely see his face but notice the facial expression change on it when he sees Tsunami valiantly flying straight for them. And straight for the tornado.
I hear muffled yelling that sounds like gibberish from this point. I huddle closer to Starflight, anxious for the outcome of this stormy adventure.
I keep a keen eye on the tornado and the clump of colored dragons right near it, watching them unblinkingly.
It takes me a moment to realize that Starflight and I are drifting towards the tornado. Wait, that can't be right. We aren't moving, and our surroundings are the same as before, in the same place as before.
We're not moving towards it. It's moving towards us.
I realize that too late. The tornado is just a few meters away when I feel its powerful vacuum sucking me in. I can't see anyone but Starflight anymore, and he seems to be struggling against the intense winds as well.
I close my eyes, ready to accept my near fate, and when I open them again, I'm sucked into the belly of the tornado, and the world slips away.
That was chapter 11, hope you enjoyed! I'll be back soon with another, don't worry. Summertimes' the best time to write. All I have is rowing in the morning, karate in the evening, a few Islamic classes, then I've got the whole day to prepare you guys with chapters. Thanks again for reading. Please review, you'll get a shoutout if you do! Thanks for popping by and, as usual, have a nice day!
See ya in the next one.
Ducky :)
