"Mayday! Mayday! This is the cruise ship Edenoi requesting assistance. We are down and disabled 5000 leagues under the sea! Please respond!"
Lola Loud ignored the call for help as she happily walked along the beach in the moonlight. With her was a young boy with white hair wearing a brown pinstripe suit and white sports shoes with red stripes. Her big brother. Lincoln Loud, that lanky strip of madness. He had promised her that he would take her to an underwater city that he visited a while back.
"Is it much further?" She asked. "Nope. Should be only a hop skip and a jump from here." Lincoln said smiling. "We'll be lucky to see a mer-pup if they're out and about tonight." "Mayday! Mayday! This is the cruise ship Edenoi requesting assistance. We are down and disabled 5000 leagues under the sea! Please respond!" "Oh, shut up!" Lola snapped at the receiver. Nothing was gonna ruin this moment for her. She looked at the moon. It was a brilliant shade of gold. Unlike anything she saw before. "Magic Mermoon, Shining so bright, Make my wish come true tonight, Take me where I long to be, To a dreamland, under the sea-" Lola sang happily, staring at the moon. Lincoln obviously looked impressed. "How'd you come to croon that tune, Lols?" He asked. "Mum used to sing that lullaby to me and Lana when we were little." Lola explained to her brother. "Apparently I'm the only one who remembers it though. I doubt Lana does." Lincoln nodded. "Good point. Doubt Lana's got a thing for mythical creatures." he muttered to himself.
"So, uh, what's a mer-pup?" Lola asked. "I'm so glad you asked me that!" Lincoln said with a grin. "If you believe the legend, a mer-pup has the body of a pup and the tail of a fish." "Really?" Lola asked in excitement. "Yep!" Lincoln said, looking at the ocean. "The legend says when the full moon rises exactly at sunset, like tonight, it's a magical Mer-moon and the touch of a mer-pup can turn you into one!" "Wow! That sounds amazing!" Lola said, Her eyes sparkling as bright as the moon. "But it's for one night only, and just until the sun rises." Lincoln warned her. "Dang it!" Lola groaned in disappointment. But then a thought came to her mind. "So, just curious here, but if a mer-pup were to touch a human, would they turn into a mermaid or a merman?" Lincoln scratched his head at Lola's question. "I dunno." He answered. "But it might be possible. In a world of infinite possibilities-" "Mayday! Mayday! This is the cruise ship Edenoi requesting assistance. We are down and disabled 5000 leagues under the sea! Please respond!" Lola groaned in annoyance. "Can't some people take a hint?!" Just then Lincoln's phone beeped in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw that he had a message. The message was from Kaiba Corp. Two simple words were on the screen.
GATHER ROUND
"Not again! Can't they see I'm trying to catch up with my sisters!?" Lincoln groaned. Then he noticed the coordinates included in the message. "Wait! They're underwater now? And I didn't pack my swimsuit!" "Linky? What's wrong?" Lola asked, looking at him with a concerned look. "The shadows are behind the ship attack and there's people still trapped onboard!" Lincoln explained. "Sorry Lola, but I gotta go check it out." Lola looked devastated that her brother had to leave her to help in the Desire Grand Prix, but she understood. "Promise me you'll come back, ok?" She asked. Lincoln smiled at his sister. "Don't worry." He said, hugging her. "I'll deal with this quick and we'll be able to see that underwater city. I promise." Lola watched as her brother headed off to help Kaiba. "Hope nothing gets you Linky." She said as she yawned a bit. "Listening to Linky's story sure made me sleepy." Lola said as she took a seat underneath a nearby tree. "I'll just take a little nap." As soon as the princess of the Loud family got comfy under the tree, she closed her eyes as the moonlight shined on her.

After a few minutes of rest, Lola woke up feeling refreshed. But something felt different about her. She stretched her arms and sighed. "That was a good nap. But something feels off." Lola said. It was then that she noticed that she looked different. Instead of her gown, Lola was wearing a pink tube top similar to her usual dress. "When did I change into this?" She asked in confusion. Then she noticed something surprising that made her gasp. Instead of her legs, Lola now had a sparkly pink fishtail!
"I'm... I'm a mermaid!" Lola exclaimed in excitement. "But how did this happen?" She felt her new tail. She expected it to be like petting Lana's lizard Izzy. But it was surprisingly smooth to her. The scales on her tail seemed to shine in the moonlight. "This is amazing! I'm a real mermaid now! If only Linky could see me now." Lola said. Then she remembered. Lincoln! He was somewhere underwater looking for a ruined ship! She looked at her phone. The time on it read 9:45. Lincoln had informed their parents that he and Lola would head to the Kaiba Dome after heading to the underwater city. She was worried about her big brother. Then she looked at her fishtail. She got an idea."I know! I'll go ahead and find Linky! It'll be fun now that I'm a mermaid." She tried to stand up only to land on her belly. It was then that she realised that she needed something to move. "Ugh! Gotta get to the water!" Lola groaned. "I'm just a blob here- huh?" Suddenly she was floating a few centimetres off the ground. It felt a little weird to her but it meant she was mobile. "That's odd. Then again all the stories I read about mermaids never mentioned they float to move on land." Lola muttered to herself. She soon discovered that when she flicked her tail in the direction she wanted to move in, she floated in that direction. "Well, this is gonna be fun!" Lola said with a smile.
5 minutes later, Lola was swimming through the water like a fish, looking for her brother. She still couldn't believe what was happening to her! But here she was. Swimming late at night as a mermaid. And she was enjoying every minute of it. "This feels amazing! I've never been able to move like this normally!" Lola said happily. Soon she arrived in what looked like a valley. Lola caught her breath and then noticed something very peculiar. What looked like a group of fish were swimming towards her. Leading the group was a creature with a tail of a fish and the face of a pup! Following him was a yellow squid. Lola blinked in confusion as she could somehow hear what the creature was saying. "This way ladies and gents. I'm Moby Frimms, your guide to the tidal zone. Please don't wander off from the group." The creature said in a bored voice. "
What?! Holidaymakers? Wait, maybe they can help me! Excuse me!" Lola called as she swam towards the group. The yellow squid seemed to notice her coming towards the group. He poked Moby frantically to get his attention. "What is it you inkhead?" Moby snapped at it before he noticed Lola. "What the-? Where'd you come from?" He asked. "Uh, how do you do? I'm sorry to scare you." Lola said, waving and smiling her friendliest smile. "A mermaid? Haven't one of your kind in these waters." Moby said. "I'm not actually a mermaid. I'm, uh, human." Lola said sheepishly. "Wait a human? But you have a fishtail." Moby said, raising an eyebrow. The yellow squid snickered. "Knock it off, you numbskull!" Moby yelled, giving it a hard stare.
