The best part of being a Ward, in Weiss' opinion, was being able to go out on patrol. To be able to act like a huntress in public, even if she had a few restrictions placed on her abilities. Her Dust reserves were limited, and growing them took longer than Weiss would have liked, even with her special Schnee glyphs. Mrytenaster would have to remain empty until her supply grew, and even then she would have to get permission to bring certain types out in the field. That was annoying, but Weiss would play along for now. She could always rebel against the PRT in other ways.

"Console come in, there's a mugging in progress by the alleyway near Hamilton Street and Lindsey Lane." Gallant pressed a finger to the side of his helmet, even though all of his controls were built on the inside. It was a part of his illusion or something.

"The nearest police officer is a minute away, hold your position." Aegis' voice came from Weiss' earpiece. The alleyway wasn't even that far, just a few steps away.

"I'm going in." Weiss sighed, walking in the alleyway's direction. Apparently, the safest patrols were the ones by the Boardwalk, or around downtown by the PRT headquarters. The rest of the city was a mixed bag, ranging from average neighborhoods to dumps that reminded Weiss of the ghettos in Mantle.

"Edelweiss, wait for the police!" Aegis said firmly. A simple mugging would be easy to prevent, and it could easily turn into a murder scene in less than a minute. Gallant reached to place a hand on her shoulder, but she was faster, dodging at the last second by using her superior lack of height.

"Skkkkkk-we're-skkkkk- losing-skkkksss-connection." Weiss rolled her eyes and removed her earpiece just as she reached the mouth of the alleyway. The mugger hadn't spotted them at the intersection, he was too focused on the purse of his wouldbe victim to notice them. The small crowd that surrounded them asking for pictures didn't help the criminal much.

Glaring at the thug who was in the middle of emptying out his victim's purse with a knife aimed at the smaller woman that cowered next to the garbage cans, Weiss placed two of her fingers to her mouth and whistled loudly.

"What the fu-" The Thug turned around, with their cheap ski-mask doing little to hide how shocked they were once he finally realized who she was. Weiss casually placed a hand on Myrtenaster's hilt.

"Drop that toothpick, put everything back in her bag and come with me if you don't want a black eye along with the jewelry I'm about to give you." That sounded way better in her head. Yang would've had a better one-liner. The criminal dropped the knife.

"O-Ok." The Thug gave up quickly, scrambling to place everything back in the purse. His wouldbe victim snatched it from his hands the moment he was done, and ran towards Weiss side, just as she spotted the lights from the police vehicle that was parking by the curb. Gallant finally caught up to her, since the whole exchange was as short as Weiss was.

"You disobeyed orders." He mumbled low enough for her ears to catch. The police officer was in the middle of securing the Thug while their partner talked to the young woman.

Weiss offered him a grin and shrugged. She was used to getting in trouble for less, even if she really didn't do that much to earn detention. Yang and Ruby always had a way of getting everyone into trouble, even Team JNPR a few times.

Dean should've been used to it by now, he was dating Victoria after all.

"I don't care."

Surprisingly, Weiss was not in trouble by the time she returned to HQ, with Chris and Missy having the patrol after her own. It was a bit disappointing, both the lack of punishment and not being able to hang out with Missy until she came back. Aside from a disapproving head shake from Carlos, the only thing that Weiss could consider a punishment was another meeting with Glenn. She thought the PRT would've been stricter than the huntsman academies back home, but they must've let it slide since no one was hurt in the end.

"We're going to throw you a musical showcase for your debut." Glenn said the moment Weiss took the seat across from him.

"I'm supposed to be a hero, not some showpiece that's supposed to be showed off in front of a crowd." Weiss crossed her arms. It felt wrong, calling herself a hero when she hadn't earned the title.

"Once you're an official member of the Protectorate, sure do whatever you want, but Wards are usually meant to be showpieces." Glenn grinned. "Don't worry, you'll get your own cut from the showcase. Director Piggot and Chief Director Costa Brown have already signed off on it."

It seemed like there was going to be no true victory for Weiss today, since Glenn had already gone behind her back to get approval for his little concert. She'd have to make the best of this.

"Fine, but I get to choose the setlist and on the album." Weiss narrowed her eyes. The fat man remained unfazed, but he nodded his head ever so slightly, causing his chins to wiggle.

"As long as you don't choose something that'll break the image I've crafted, or cause a scandal." Glenn turned to his computer. "Vista's potty mouth was one of the hardest coverups I had to handle, but I got it done."

"Then don't make me look like an idiot." Weiss sighed. This was more tiring rather than annoying. Glenn was pretty mild compared to Father's 'friends' in Atlas.

Glenn gasped and placed a stubby hand over his heart, if he had one at least. "And ruin your reputation before you even have one? Of course not!"

"I don't appreciate your sarcasm." Weiss scoffed.

"Awww and I really appreciate yours."

Touche.
