Chapter seven:

"Hikaru... Your father and I will admit that we let our status get to our heads a little. We felt invincible and like no matter what we did then our status would prevent bad things. We only needed one of you and you were the oldest. So we thought we'd get value out of Kaoru in other ways."

Hikaru gets a bad feeling about what they mean by this. His stomach starting to twist into knots at the very thought of what is about to be said.

"So we started forcing him to side work. Some that we made sure we were seen as distant from."

Hikaru's hands clench into fists as the realization dawns on him. "So you were making him hit on strangers for money." He feels a burning hatred rise up from within himself. He also feels guilty for jumping to conclusions when he saw Kaoru then. He really should have known his twin better than that. He should have known that this wouldn't be how he'd act unless made to.

"And whatever he earned he'd hand over to us." His father confirms as his mother starts crying. "We relied on our family status and didn't even consider what might happen. The danger we were putting him in. We were very excited about some of the money he was making. We believed he may have a talent for this stuff to earn the family money. So we planned to go for higher profile people online. Some who would pay more than someone on the street. Now that your brother has vanished we knew we had to come clean to you..."

Hikaru leaps to his feet and almost swings a punch at his parents. "I should have known! I don't want to be a part of this family anymore! You're disgusting and it is you who tarnished the family name! Not Kaoru!" He storms off only pausing briefly as his mother tearfully calls his name.

"You're the heir to this family! Think of the family image! We can sweep his disappearance under the rug! We can salvage this!"

Hikaru glances back with a glare in his narrowed eyes. "If you want an heir to your disgusting family business then make another one." He turns away and heads off after that. He grabs a bag packing only taking breaks to message the only one who he thinks will understand.

Kyouya.

Hikaru is glad when his friend agrees to let him stay with him after the explanation is read. He finishes packing his bag only taking what matters to him the most. He glances to his phone as Kyouya texts that he sent a limo to pick him up. He texts his thanks and ignores a knock to the bedroom door. He glances around before grabbing some of Kaoru's stuff into another bag. He hopes that this is all that Kaoru would want to keep from here.

"Hikaru please reconsider this." His father tries to plead. "Don't throw away all your hard work to become the heir to your rightful place."

"Hikaru! Honey! We're so sorry!" His mother cries but Hikaru doesn't even dignify them with a response.

Hikaru doesn't even listen to anything else that they have to say. He wonders what he should call himself if he's going to distance himself from this family. He can't have the same last name as them after all. He doesn't decide by the time Kyouya texts that the limo is there. He listens to see if his parents are still there. He does hear them still.

"Hikaru. There is a family secret that maybe you'd be interested in. If you stay we could tell you. It ties in with why you and Kaoru are banned from that one area." His father tells him but it won't work.

Hikaru grabs the packed bags then opens the door. He shoves past the two before heading to the front door.

An obedient maid who looks worried still opens the door when given a look from Hikaru.

Hikaru heads out to the waiting limo being let inside ignoring that he can feel gazes from likely his parents... Who he can't stand calling his parents anymore... He turns away from the window as the driver closes the door. He doesn't even look back at his former parents as the limo drives off. He'll just have no last name for now and figure out things later. He pulls out his wallet and grabs a pair of scissors he grabbed. He cuts up all cards given to him by his former family. He tosses them out the window not caring about it. He isn't interested in even using money from them anymore. He looks down after tucking the scissors away. "I'm sorry Kaoru. I hope you'll forgive me when I find you." He whispers to himself silently swearing that he won't stop searching until he either dies or he finds his missing brother. He's going to fix things between the two of them and they'll have a brand new start together.

Where their former parents won't be allowed to interfere with their lives ever again.

The limo arrives to Kyouyas place and the other is waiting at the front step.

Hikaru steps out carrying the bags. He thanks the driver before heading to Kyouya.

"Come. We can talk more inside." Kyouya tells Hikaru who nods and the two of them head inside. "I had a feeling this day would come. Just not in the way I had planned."

He admits as the two walk the halls of the mansion.

"What do you mean?" Hikaru questions rather confused.

"Well there is something I have secretly been working on behind the scenes." Kyouya admits pushing up his glasses. "I noticed something was going on not too long ago. So I used my money and influence to have it looked into. Had an informant among the staff at your mansion and everything. I did have a plan intervene in the whole thing. Especially when I noticed that they were about to take things to another level online. I even prepared a room for Kaoru to hide out in and everything. Even planned to take down your parents so everything would be left to the two of you." He lets out a sigh. "However things have changed a bit. Especially with Kaoru having vanished."

"My plan was to distance myself from that family and find Kaoru." Hikaru admits to Kyouya.

"Don't worry we will be getting back at those assholes. They will face punishment for what they did. However we also need to find Kaoru. He could be in real danger." Kyouya stops them as they arrive to a door. "This is the room I had set up for Kaoru. You can use it while you stay here. I have a few calls to make to a few private investigators that owe me some favors. So you get yourself settled." He heads off with that leaving Hikaru standing there alone at the door.

Hikaru watches the other go suddenly glad that he picked Kyouya to get help from. He opens the door to the room after turning back to it. He finds a rather nice bedroom set up that still gives the rich comfort one like him would be used to. He sets the bags down and heads to the window peering outside. He wishes that he knew where his brother was. He wants him back. He closes his eyes heavily regretting what he had said to the other that one night. He shakes his head telling himself that once he finds Kaoru he can fix this... He hopes...

Kaoru wakes up late having been exhausted from his first night. He was out until signs of the sun about to come up then he went back to where he's staying, immediately crashing into bed and falling asleep. He isn't fully sure what time it is though he decides that it is a good time to get up. He gets out of bed and heads out where he spots Johanna who turns to him.

"Hey there Kaoru. How was your rest?" Josephine greets with a smile

"Great." Kaoru admits with a stretch. "How long was I out for?"

"Twelve hours." Josephine's answer makes Kaoru almost fall in surprise. She chuckles. "Don't worry that's not the longest someone was out for. We had one who was out for twenty four hours afterwards. The first night is rough and the exhaustion is real afterwards. So everyone understands. We've all gone through it."

"Yeah thanks." Kaoru nods as he fixes his posture. "So what do we do now?"

"Well if you're not feeling lazy today there is something we can start off with today." Josephine offers to which Kaoru nods his head that he wants to do it. "Great! Follow me." She leads the way at a pace that no human could follow but Kaoru can follow easily.

Kaoru wonders where they are headed though isn't too sure he should ask. He'll just wait and see where Josephine takes him.

I wrote this chapter on my phone on a car ride to a dog park that is in the countryside. So hopefully I caught the autocorrects.

Hopefully you are enjoying so far! I was originally thinking of just doing things without the vampire element but I ended up adding that part in. So plans always change with stories.
