The next day, Rosco was picking up Corey at the orphanage for his daily ride.

"Howdy, Rosco!" Corey waved as Rosco pulled up.

"You ready to go on patrol with me?" Rosco opened the door.

"Yeah!" Corey ran over to the car and hurried in.

Just as they were about to drive off, the General Lee whizzed by.

"Ohh! It's them Duke boys! Hot pursuit time!" Rosco put the medal to the metal.

"What do ya want this time Rosco?" Luke called in on the CB.

"You're speedin', obviously." Rosco rolled his eyes.

"Uh, Luke..." Bo nudged Luke.

The General was overheating, probably due to the cheap parts that Boss Hogg had sold an unknowing Cooter.

"Aw, great..." Luke sighed.

Bo pulled the General over.

"Alright you Duke boys!" Rosco got out of his car, and Corey followed him.

Bo, Luke, and Daisy got out of the General Lee.

"Who's she?" Corey mouthed, staring at Daisy's legs.

"You Dukes was speedin': 1.4 miles an hour over the speed limit." Rosco pulled out his ticket book.

"56.4 miles an hour? The speed gauge on the General said 55." Bo protested.

"Yeah, Rosco." Daisy crossed her arms.

"Uh, Rosco?" Luke noticed Corey, who was spaced out, looking at Daisy. "Who's he?"

"Don't change the subject!" Rosco held his ticket book and pen out to Bo. "Sign right there, Bo." Rosco giggled.

"Dang it, Rosco." Bo yanked the pen from Rosco's hand and signed the ticket.

"Now will ya tell us who this little feller is?" Daisy asked.

"His name is Corey. He lives at the orphanage." Rosco started walking back to his patrol car.

"Hi there." Corey stepped towards Daisy.

"Howdy." Daisy smiled at him.

"You've got a lovely, smile miss." Corey grinned.

"Thank you. You've got a right cute one yourself." Daisy blushed.

"Come on, Corey! The less time you spend 'round them trouble makin' Dukes the better!" Rosco waved for Corey to come back.

"Bye." Corey waved at the Dukes and slowly walked back to the patrol car.

Daisy went to climb back into the General Lee, but her heel got stuck and she slipped, dangling sideways out the window. Corey saw the whole thing, and a few inches farther down Daisy's shirt than she'd of liked him to, if she knew.

Bo laughed and pointed at Daisy, before helping her get into the car.

"You gonna be an acrobat?" Luke asked her when they were all in the car.

"Very funny." Daisy rolled her eyes.

Back in the patrol car, Rosco had been lecturing Corey about how horrible the Dukes were, but he had only been half listening, he was still thinking about Daisy, and the cool orange car that could apparently fly.

Meanwhile, the Dukes had parked the General on the side of the road, and headed towards the Hazzard county pond and car wash to get some water for the radiator. After that, they'd take it to Cooter's to have him fix it again, and tell him that he'd been once again, snookered by J.D Hogg.

When Rosco brought Corey back to the orphanage, there was a young couple waiting in the office.

"Corey? There's a young couple here to see you. They'd like to consider adopting you." An orphan caregiver approached him.

"See there, Cory, I told ya someone would come along." Rosco tipped his hat and headed back out to his patrol car.

"Hello there, son. My name's Dennis Hartshorn, and this is my wife, Pricilla." Dennis extended his hand to Corey.

"Howdy, sir." Corey mumbled.

"You don't seem too exited?" Pricilla bent down next to him. "Don't you wanna come live with us?"

"Maybe." Corey shrugged.

"We just moved to Hazzard. We've been trying to have children of our own ever since we were married, but, we never could." Dennis explained.

"Oh." Corey looked them over for a minute.

"What are your favorite things to do?" Pricilla asked.

"I love cars, girls, and dogs." Corey told her.

"Those are all great things for a young boy to like." Dennis smiled. "We have a dog, his name is Ratzy: he's a Poodle and Pit bull mix."

"We also have a car, but it's not very 'cool'." Pricilla thought of their beat up AMC.

"There's plenty of cool cars in Hazzard, though." Dennis reminded him.

"Yeah, like that orange one with the pretty girl that rides in it." Corey smiled.

The Hartshorns and Corey continued to make small talk until he was comfortable with them, and then, they signed the adoption forms, after a quick background check, of course.

Corey went home with the Hartshorns that night, after leaving a message for Rosco on his home phone.

Corey was looking forward to life with his new family, and Rosco was happy that the boy had gotten adopted: happy for Corey, and relieved that he didn't have to cart him around all the time, although he did enjoy the child's company, just not while he was trying to catch the Dukes.

But all of this would change with one phone call to the sheriff's office at 1:00am the next morning.
