This isn't me finally returning to finish this. Unfortunately, that time may never come as I simply can't keep this up anymore (for a multitude of reasons). I simply was just looking through some files and realized I never posted this chapter on this specific site. Hope yall enjoy

A hand pushed Miles down on something soft in an uncomfortable position. He went back to a more comfortable position and looked up and saw Gwen standing there with a smirk.

"You should of seen your face when I pushed you down. It looked like your mouth was in about vacuum."

"Ha ha, very funny. You're hilarious." Miles said as he grabbed a cup of water from the stand next to his hospital bed

"I like to call it mischievously humorous."

"You're the worst." Miles groaned.

"And yet you love me." Gwen replied with a playful smirk.

"Unfortunately." Miles said in a joking voice.

Gwen giggled before kissing Miles. They kissed each other until they needed to pull away for air. They were about to kiss again before a siren began to blare. Miles was extremely disappointed about this but tried his best to not show it. He didn't succeed and Gwen saw the disappointment on his face. "Don't worry I'll be back soon."

"K, don't get hurt."

"Look who's talking." She said before giggling.

"Rude." Miles said with a hurt face before playfully punching her on the arm. "But before you go, who's gonna protect your dimension now that you're in mine?"

"Crime rates are extremely low now so the cops can take care of it."

"Oh, ok. Well just don't get hurt, last thing I need is you to end up like me."

Gwen tapped her face and displayed mock confusion. "I wonder how that could happen."

The two were sitting on the top of the Empire State Building and looking at the sun as it set. Gwen had her head on Miles' shoulder and was half asleep as Mikes looked at her and thought about how lucky he was. Miles sat with Gwen silently and soaked up the beautiful sun as its rays hugged him with their warmth. He looked over and saw Gwen start moving.

"What are you doing." Miles asked.

Gwen took out a piece of paper from her pocket and gave it to Miles. Miles took it and was shocked to see what it was. It was a drawing. A beautiful drawing. It was a picture of their first kiss on this building with the sun shining brightly behind them.

"I was going to give it to you when you were at the hospital but never got the chance so I decided to give it to you now. Its nowhere as good as your work but I tried my best. I hope you like it." Gwen said with her head half down unsure of what his reaction would be. She didn't think she did that good of a job.

"Gwen, I don't like it." Miles eventually said.

"You don't?"

"No."

"Oh." Gwen began to turn around to try to hide her tears. She didn't think it was good but it still broke her heart when she heard that. If the drawing wasn't good enough for him, did that mean she wasn't good enough for him?

Miles quickly turned Gwen around and quickly kissed her after seeing that she was crying and realized he probably shouldn't have stopped talking. After they pulled away Miles continued talking. "Gwen I don't like it I love it. It's beautiful. I didn't know you could draw so well." Gwen immediately pulled Miles into a longer, more passionate kiss than the previous.

"I'm so glad you love it. I didn't think I did that well."

"Gwen, everything you do is perfect because you're perfect. Don't ever think otherwise."

A huge smile grew on Gwen and she brought him in to kiss him again.

Please don't let this end Miles thought.

_

Gwen swung throughout the building, checking every room for Miles. Finally, she entered a room that was dark and just had one chair in the middle. Laying beside that chair was an unconscious Miles. Oh no. Gwen thought and rushed to him. He had blood all over him and his lips were blue. She felt his body and felt three broken ribs. She nearly broke down at the sight of his horrible condition but knew that she needed to stay focus if they were going to survive.

"Miles wake up." Gwen said and lightly touched his cheek.

Miles slowly opened his eyes. "G-gwen? Is that you?" He muttered quietly.

"Yeah, yeah it's me Miles." She said as a lone tear fell down on her face. "Come on, let's get you up. We need to get out of here before it's too late." She said and helped him get up.

_

"When you said that you were already outside, I would have thought that you'd be ready for me by then." Miles said.

Gwen giggled. "You take forever to respond so I just figured that you weren't going to come out as quickly as you did."

"I'm your boyfriend, did you really think I'd leave you hanging?"

Gwen looked at him with a slightly confused face. "Boyfriend? I never said you were my boyfriend."

Miles rolled his eyes. "We've been together for more than a month. We pretty much are."

"Well, you never made it official."

Miles laughed slightly before looking at her. "Then, will you be my girlfriend, Gwen Stacy?"

"I'd love to." Gwen said and the two of them laughed before they kissed each other

_

Birds were chirping as their black shadows flew by the sun shining against them and past Miles's view from the window. He didn't know why but he suddenly felt a sense of control again. As if everything just then were some memories and he was back in the present.

However, he suddenly felt an urge to go do homework even though he never was the one to want to do that.

Or maybe I'm not? Are these still just memories? Am I dreaming?

He suddenly noticed something at his chest and he looked down to see short blonde hair resting on him. The head started to stir and he was all of a sudden staring at captivating baby blue eyes and a beautiful smile.

"Hey." Gwen said.

"Gwen?" Miles said quietly, in shock that he was somehow seeing her again.

She laughed softly. "Who else?" She lifted her head so she could stretch her back then placed it back on his chest. "I should probably leave before Ganke comes back." She never moved a muscle though.

As shocked as Miles was, he never tried to get away and find out what was happening. To finally feel Gwen and just be with her again without having to worry about anything was a feeling he hadn't felt for too long. It felt good to finally be with her again and he never wanted it to end, even if it was all a dream.

He felt her take a deep sigh. "This is nice." She said softly. "No noise. Nice weather. And just us."

Several moments passed by before Miles all of a sudden began to break down. His head tilted down as tears began to rush down uncontrollably and started to sob loudly.

Gwen quickly held his head and looked at him with concern. "Miles what's wrong? Was it something I said?"

"You're... here..." He choked out as he kept sobbing. He immediately grabbed her and hugged her tightly. "You're here." He cried in her shoulder.

Although Gwen creased her eyebrows in confusion, she still held Miles back tightly, giving him whatever emotional support she could to him as he continued to break down.

They stayed like that for a while. Miles let his tears fall onto Gwen's school uniform that was now damp on her shoulder as they tightly embraced.

Eventually, Miles pulled away but still kept close to her as his sobbing finally slowly stopped. "Sorry." He said with a weak smile.

Gwen didn't care and gave him a comforting smile and wiped away a lone tear. "What's wrong?"

"It's all just a dream isn't it?" He said. He could see the confusion in Gwen's eyes and sighed. "This is all just an allusion that my mind is making to make me feel better."

"What happened?" She asked gently.

"You're gone." He began. "You were taken and were changed or something I don't know!" He quickly hugged her tightly again as his tears resumed. "You're just not the same anymore. You're trying to kill me now."

Gwen smiled and pulled him away so she could look at his eyes. "Miles, you know that's not me. That is a different person. The real me is the one that's right here with you. The one you're dreaming about right now." She placed her hand on his heart. "I would never do something like that because I love you."

"I don't wanna go back. I don't want to wake up." Miles said.

"Why?"

"Because then I'll have to face her. I can't fight you, even if it's not actually you."

Gwen laughed softly. "That's not the same Miles I remembered who ignored all the doubts that Peter had. That's not the one who took that leap of faith even when we all went off without you is it? So what if that person looks like me? They still aren't me. You're the bravest person I know and I know that all you want to do is the right thing. Don't ever change from the person that I loved from the beginning. I know you can do this. I trust you."

Miles sniffed. "How do you know that?"

Gwen smirked. "This is all in your head isn't it? Even you know that I'm right. Just believe in yourself."

"I'm not ready though. Not right now. I just want to stay here."

Gwen smiled lovingly again. "That's the beauty of dreams isn't it? They can go on for however long you want them to without sleeping any longer. You can stay for however long you want."

Miles grabbed and hugged her tightly, finally able to find a way to release all of his emotions. He cried all of the pent up sadness away into her shoulder. Her uniform was getting even more wet but Gwen couldn't care less.

"I love you." He whispered. "I know this is all in my head but I love you. I just wish I had a chance to tell you that one more time."

Gwen leaned back and smiled at him then ducked in to kiss him passionately. A kiss that told him how much she still loved him, one that created an escape from his sadness, and one that brought him happiness all at once. She held it for a while before leaning back.

"I love you too."

Miles's eyes suddenly popped open but they were back in the real world where he was strapped on a doctor's chair and leaned back with a shadowy figure standing over him.

"Sweet dreams I hope?" Shadow hissed.

Miles struggled against the restraints. "What am I doing here? What are you going to do to me?"

"Shhh." Peter suddenly said from behind Miles. "Let the doctor do his work."

He felt something suddenly start to enter his body. Not exactly physically, but almost as if it was spiritual. It felt like it was attempting to take over him. His mind, body, everything. His fingers began to wiggle then squirm around even though he never moved them himself. His toes began to do the same, then his whole body was squirming around even though he had nothing to do with it. "What are you doing to me?" Miles muttered. It seemed like his will to speak still belonged to him.

"Taking over you what else?" Peter said as if there wasn't a care in his world. Well, shadowy evil world at this point.

He felt the same feeling begin to poke at his mind, asking for permission to enter in and take over. He was able to deny it however, refusing to let whatever Shadow sent in him to completely take over him.

Let me in. A voice suddenly whispered. It didn't come from anywhere, rather it was actually in his head. Let me in and you can finally be with her again. You don't have to fight her. I can bring want you want back to you.

Although Miles was still fighting, his mental defenses were beginning to deteriate when he heard these words. If he joined Shadow, maybe he could get with Gwen again in some way. He didn't have to fight her anymore, and maybe they could find a way to actually get back together again, in some sort of a way. It had to be better than going through the pain of never having her again.. Gwen's face began to appear in his mind once he started to give in to the temptation. Her face and the thought that he could possibly see her again for real without having to fight her made Shadow's offer seem also too good, yet it was so real. Perhaps it would be twisted, but wouldn't it be worth it?

That's right, let me in. Stop fighting and you'll get what you want. Shadow continued to whisper.

Miles was on the brink of giving in when Gwen's words wifted through his mind again. "Don't ever change from the person that I loved from the beginning." Her words, fake or not, fueled him with a fire that had been extinguished for too long. A fire whose source came from a need to always fight for a certain blonde sunflower who captured his heart just by existing. A fire that was more powerful than any other shadowy creature.

Stop fighting. Shadow spat in frustration. You only force yourself to suffer more

Miles gritted his teeth as he fought off whatever demons Shadow was sending towards him. He grunted and fought to control his mental state once more. He felt electricity begin to run through his body and give him a boost of energy. His body and breath was shaking but he was still focused on that fire. He saw sparks of blue, red, and yellow coming out of his hands and his eyes began to glow with a blinding light if blue. His grunting got louder and began to build into a yell. Shadow's attack was being shattered by the second until Miles couldn't even feel it anymore.

"No!" It screamed, back with its physical voice.

With a final scream, all the energy in Miles burst out out of his body and created a wall of electricity, pushing everything out of the way like a massive Shockwave.

"I'm never going to give into you." Miles announced to Shadow. "I'll gladly suffer before letting you win." He let out another wall of crackling electricity, this one even more powerful and even severely damaged the building's structure. By the time it faded away, Shadow and Peter disappeared.

Miles stood there, breathing deeply as he took in all of the events. He looked up at a gaping hole in the roof that he created and looked at the full moon that was on display tonight. A small smile crept onto his face. "I'm never going to forget you. I love you Gwen."

He began to swing away from the building and back home. During his trip, he could've sworn he heard her say "I love you too Miles" back at him.
