I awoke the next morning to an empty room. I heard footsteps shuffling outside and saw a bright light from underneath the door. Since I couldn't get up to do anything I decided to grab my phone.

I went into my messages app and clicked on my favorite contact, Ally.

Hey Als!

Hey Austin!

What time did you leave last night?

I think around 8:30, you fell asleep.

oh, cool. Anyways, are you coming today? I miss you.

Aw I miss you too, but I can't today sorry. My dad asked me to work at Sonic Boom.

I was really sad Ally couldn't visit me today, but I understand she's busy. I decided to click another contact, Dez.

Austin! I'm glad your awake!

I placed my phone down, getting a headache from the bright screen light. I heard some footsteps coming towards me so I closed my eyes pretending to be asleep. As I was lying there I heard hushed voices outside.

"Riker I'm worried. The doctors said there was a chance this could happen and now the chance is even bigger." "Rydel relax, I'm sure it's fine." "It's been 3 days and barely any improvement." "Well thats not a lot of time Rydel." "I know but still, and on top of all that we had to lie about how he got hurt. You really think falling downstairs would have caused all that? He's gonna find out eventually, a car crash is a hard thing to hide."

My body went stiff with shock. How could all this happen in a car crash? When did the car crash happen? Why don't I remember it?

The voices stopped and my door started opening. I quickly regained my sleeping position and listening to their conversation. I just barely opened my eyes as I watched them enter my room.

"Shh, he's asleep." "Well he's gonna be awake in 30 seconds with your big mouth." Rydel huffed at Riker's statement. "Rude." She replied. He just rolled his eyes at her. He glanced toward me as I started to open my eyes. "Oh he's awake, hey Austin." I rubbed my eyes as if I had been asleep. "Oh, hey guys." I responded. "How ya feeling?" Rydel asked as she sat down on the hospital bed.

I started sitting up, with help from Rydel. "Not the best, everything hurts." She gave me a sad smile. "I'm sorry." I just shrugged, there wasn't anything she could do. "It's fine." Riker walked over to me and started ruffling my hair. "Oh, Ally isn't coming today,she had to work at Sonic Boom." "I know we texted this morning." He nods but then realization strikes him.

He turns toward Rydel and panic shoots through their eyes. "How long have you been awake this morning?" He asked nervously. I decided to pretend I didn't know they were hiding anything. "Not long, maybe half an hour?" I said, telling the truth. Rydel glances back to me, fear evident in her face. "Did you happen to hear anything this morning?"

"No." I lied. I saw relief wash over their faces as I answered. We stayed quiet until Dr. Lynch walked in. "Oh good, your awake." He said as checked his clip board. I just nodded my head. "Alright Austin, unfortunately we have to do some X-rays today, so I'm giving you a heads up." "Ok." I responded. He left the room and Rydel stood up. "I'm going to get you some food, Rik you want anything?" He shook his head no and she exited the room.

Riker turned his head towards me.

"Aus, do you remember anything from the accident?"

I eyed him suspiciously before answering. "No...why?"

He sighed in relief before replying. "Uh...nothing."

I gave him a look, not believing what he said. He stood up from his seat and started pacing around the room. I watched him for a moment before speaking up.

"Rik? You okay?"

He paused a moment before answering. "Huh? Yeah I'm fine. How are you? It's probably time for you to take a nap, you want those bones to heal."

I glanced at him confusedly. "I just woke up."

He looks at me confusedly, like he wasn't paying attention to our conversation. He's hiding something.

"Oh yeah... well uhm-" He got interrupted by Rydel entering the room. She walked over to me handing me a plate of pancakes.

"Thanks Delly." I stated. Her head snapped up, she had been lost in thought.

"Huh? Oh uh.. your welcome."

Both my siblings were being weird, something was up.

"Guys," I said worriedly. "Is everything okay? You both are acting weird." They exchanged a nervous glance before turning to me.

"We're fine Austin. We're just stressed." Riker answered.

"About what?" I questioned, curious to know what's going on.

"It's none of your business." Rydel harshly replied.

I dropped the subject and went back to eating. I don't know what's going on but I will find out.

Ally's POV:

I finally got the phone call I've been dreading for the past 24 hours. Your probably very confused, so let me explain. You see Austin's accident didn't happen the way we told him.

We told Austin he fell down the stairs, but do you really think falling down stairs could have caused all those injuries? No, Austin was hit by a car, my car.

Austin and I were fighting. We've had fights before but never this big. I can't even remember what we were fighting about now. We were arguing in the hallway when he said something that made my blood run cold.

"You know what?" I looked at him unamused as he restarted the argument.

"I hate you Ally Dawson, with everyone bone in my body. Your annoying and pathetic. The only purpose you have is to write my songs. Your a loser Ally."

I gasped, shocked he would say such things. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes.

"Are you crying? I told you your pathetic." He huffed and was about to start walking away when I did something shocking.

I slapped him, hard.

His hand rose to his red cheek. Eyes full of shock. "OWW! What the heck was that for?"

I decided I was done being the victim. I was going to stand up for myself.

"You hate me? After all I've done for you, I made you Austin. I made you famous, I made you successful, I made you popular, I made you. Without me you'd be nothing.

Without me you'd be a useless blob of wasted talented. Without me you'd be just another pretty face. Without me you'd be nothing. So really you hate me? The lady who gave you your career.

Fine then so be it. Hate me Austin I dare you. I'm done being your victim. I hope I can run you over with my car one day Austin."

With that I turned around never looking back. If only I had known what was going to happen.

As I was pulling my car out of its spot I stepped on the gas, hurried to get out of there. I was going dangerously fast when I heard something.

"ALLY LOOK OUT!" I heard someone shout. I snoozed my head to the left and saw Dez standing there. I slammed my foot down on the break and heard a terrifying crunch.

I got out of my car and slammed the door to see my best friend lying limp on the floor surrounded in his own blood.

We called the ambulance and they quickly arrived. They took Austin to the hospital and Dez drove me back to Sonic Boom.

Dez had called Riker and Rydel to tell them what happened so we could meet them at the hospital.' On our way to Sonic Boom I received a call from Rydel.

She told me for the sake of Austin's career and our friendship we were going to tell him he fell down the stairs.

Now I just have to live with the guilt of what I've done.

Back to the dread phone call I was talking about. Rydel told me the car crash was so serious there was a chance Austin might never walk again, and that chance keeps getting bigger.

(I don't actually know if that's true or not, I'm literally just making up medical things for the story so sorry if I'm wrong)

I'm never going to forgive myself if Austin can't walk again. Looks like Dr. Dawson is guilty.
