Chapter 5: Hiking

"Last time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica started to announce.

"The teams went out into the night, and walked on trails supposedly haunted by the Night Marchers. And some even got snatched by some.

In the end Team Anthurium lost, and Elijah ended up being sent home. What will our teens do next? Find out right now on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced.

The next morning, the teens were eating their breakfast in the mess hall.

"Do you think we did the right thing, voting Elijah off last night?" asked Johnny.

"While it would've been just as good to vote off one of the girls." Kevin started.

Tammie and Lucky glared at him.

"But he did get himself snatched first. So I think we did the right thing." he finished.

"I'm telling you," Lucky started.

"that Kevin is getting on my last nerve."

"The next time we lose, Kevin's leaving." said Tammie.

"I'm going to grab some napkins." informed Vivian.

She got up from the table, and went over to another table. As she was getting her napkins, Caden walked up to the table. Vivian glanced over at him. This was the first time she'd been able to look at him up close.

He was pretty good looking with his strong looking body, dark green eyes, and dirty blonde hair.

"Oh, hi Vivian." he greeted.

Vivian snapped out of her daze.

"Caden, hey. How ya doin'?" she replied back.

"Just getting some napkins."

"What a coincidence, me too."

"Well here you go."

And he handed her some.

"Thanks."

And she walked back to her table. As she did, Caden glanced over at her. Vivian was pretty, and she seemed nice. When Vivian sat back down at her team's table, she glanced back at Vivian. Which Kevin noticed.

"I saw the way Vivian was looking at Caden." he told the audience.

"I know where this is going, and I'm putting a stop to it."

When everyone finished, Monica came into the mess hall.

"Good morning, contestants." she greeted.

"I hope you all had a good breakfast, because it's time for today's challenge. Everyone outside."

And everyone followed her. She led them to a bus, where Hailey and Charlotte were waiting for them. Once they were all on board, Hailey drove them away from the lot.

They drove for a couple hours, and then came to a Hawaiian state park. And they all got off, and awaited further instructions.

"For this challenge, you'll have to take a hike through this forest." Monica informed them.

"Sounds simple." whispered Setsuna.

"Well let's just see." Taylor whispered back.

"You'll have to hike through this forest, and the first one to the end of the forest wins." told Monica.

"But it won't be as easy as you think." Hailey piped up.

"Are you gonna have us get picked off again?" asked Kevin.

"Not this time. You'll just have to have the terrain of the forest." she answered.

"Now Charlotte, before we send them off, give them their supplies." instructed Monica.

Charlotte nodded, and handed each teen a backpack.

"In these backpacks are supplies for your hike." Charlotte told them.

In each backpack were a bottle of water, a couple bags of chips, some bug spray, a compass, and a small first aid kit.

"I'll see you all at the end. Good luck and be careful." Monica told the contestants.

And with that, Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte got back on the bus.

"Well let's get started." declared Johnny.

And he led his team down a path.

"Since they're going that way, let's go this way." suggested Mia.

And they went the other way.

Team Plumeria walked down a trail, it was a pretty rocky terrain.

"Gee this sure is bumpy." said Taylor as she took a step down from a rock.

"We can do this, guys." encouraged Kahlin.

"Kahlin's right. It's just a hike." added Setsuna.

"And luckily Monica provided us with good supplies." mentioned Caden.

"Not like in Total Drama, where Chris and Chef would probably fill our bags with rocks." joked Edu.

They all laughed.

"So we need a navigator, hey Taylor you think you can do it?" asked Mia.

"Uh..." Taylor started.

"I'm not really good at navigating. Or reading maps, or compasses. But I can't let the rest of the team know that, I don't want them thinking I'm useless." Taylor confessed.

"Sure no problem." Taylor replied.

"Great, pull out the compass, and let's get started."

Taylor did so, and they all walked on.

Team Anthurium were making their way down a trail, Kevin grabbed Vivian's arm.

"Hey, what's up, Kevin?" she asked.

"I saw you flirting with Caden."

"Yeah so?"

"So you can't be flirting with the enemy."

This made Vivian angry, and she shook herself from his grip.

"We may be on opposite teams, but this is a reality TV show not the army."

"Oh please, I know how you girls are when you're in love. You get all dreamy and distracted and then you'll become a liability to the team."

"First of all, for your information, I can control my emotions. And secondly, you're not in charge of the team and you're not in charge of me."

Then she stomped off to join the rest of the team.

"I can't believe Kevin talked to me that way." Vivian complained.

"A girl can have a crush and be a team player. I swear, if we were back home in Texas, I'd give him the ol' one two."

She made boxing movements with her hands.

The teams continued on, and after an hour they were deep in the park.

"Whew, this sun is killing me." said Setsuna.

"Just keep going." encouraged Taylor.

"Luckily we have water." mentioned Caden, as he took a bottle out of his backpack.

"So far this is pretty nice." Mia mentioned.

And it was a good sight. There were many interesting looking plants, nice flowers, and they heard the sounds of different birds. As they walked on, the girls took the lead. And Edu couldn't take his eyes off Setsuna.

"You know dude, you should definitely make a move with Setsuna." Kahlin told him.

"You think so?"

"Yeah, she seems to like you too." added Caden.

Edu gave it some serious thought. Little did they know, the girls were talking about the same thing.

"What are you gonna do about Edu?" Mia asked Sestuna.

Setsuna glanced back at Edu.

"Hmm, first I'm gonna flirt with some other guys to see if there's a reaction from him, once I see it, I'll make my move." she explained.

"Nice idea." said Taylor.

Then the team came to a fork in the road.

"Which way, Taylor?"

Taylor looked at her map and compass.

"Um, we have to go this way."

She pointed left, and that's the way then went. Little did they know it was the wrong way.

Team Anthurium, were making good progress.

"Come on, guys. We're doing great." said Johnny.

As Lucky was stepping down from a rock, she slipped, and fell.

"Oww."

"Lucky are you okay?" asked Tammie.

"I'm okay." Lucky replied.

But as she tried to stand up, she winced. She winced because she had cut her knee, and it was bleeding a little.

"You're hurt." observed Johnny.

"Better break out the first aid kit." urged Vivian.

"Great, now we're gonna run behind." complained Kevin.

Everyone glared at him.

"Hey, Kevin relax." Vivian snapped.

"Yeah, and this won't take long." Johnny added.

"I can't believe it, the only other guy on this team is on the girls' side. Just great." Kevin complained.

"I'm really not liking Kevin's attitude." Johnny confessed.

"As leader of the team, I have to keep tensions cool, and make sure my team members work together. And Kevin's not making my job easy."

After getting Lucky's cut cleaned and bandaged, they continued on.

"Hey, Kevin." Johnny whispered.

"What?" "You need to calm down. We're a team, and you need to be respectful of the girls." Kevin rolled his eyes.

"Fine." he replied.

Team Plumeria was making progress, and they were still on the trail. But the trail began to get a little muddy.

"Gee, this is getting messy." said Setsuna.

"I know, are we still on the right track, Taylor?" asked Edu.

"Of course we are." Taylor told them.

"We just have to keep going straight."

As they were walking, Caden heard something, it sounded like a squealing noise.

"Hey you guys hear that?" he wondered.

The others listened, and heard it too. Curious they followed the sound, and it came from a little burrow. And inside were three small furry baby boars.

"Awe, they're so cute." gushed Mia.

"Uh, guys, if those are baby boars then where the...?" Kahlin started to ask.

When just then they heard a loud grunting noise. They turned around and saw a rather angry looking mother boar.

"All right guys, don't panic. Just slowly back away." whispered Setsuna.

They started doing that at first, but then they started running and the mother boar chased them. They all screamed in terror, as they ran as fast as their feet could carry them. Luckily they managed to get away, and end up back on the trail they were originally on.

"Whew, that was close." breathed Taylor.

"What was up with those directions?" Mia asked her.

"Uh, sorry guys. I must've misread. Let's try the other way."

And they went down another path. But that didn't turn out well either, as that path sent them to the edge of a cliff and below it was water. So they went back, and started again.

By now, the rest of the team began to get a little skeptical of Taylor's directions. Things began to look the same, like they were going around in circles.

"Do you think we're still going the right way?" asked Kahlin.

"We must be, hey Taylor what does the compass say?" wondered Mia.

Taylor looked at the compass, and the map.

"Umm, we're on the right track. Let's go this way." she said, pointing right.

They followed her, but after a walking a while, they came right back to the same spot.

"All right, what's going on here?" asked Caden.

"Uh, I'm not sure, what do the letters on this thing stand for again?" Taylor asked, looking at the compass.

Everyone looked at her.

"Taylor, you do know how a compass works right?" wondered Caden.

"Well..."

"I can't believe it, we're lost." replied Setsuna.

"I'm sorry guys." Taylor apologized.

"All right, let me see." said Edu.

He pulled out his map and compass. After a couple minutes, he found the way.

"We have to go this way."

"Hmm, impressive." Setsuna whispered to herself.

And they all followed Edu.

While Team Plumeria was making their way back on track, Team Anthurium were still on the trail.

"Hey, I think I see something up ahead." said Lucky.

They walked a little closer, and to their surprise, they saw the end of the trail, where Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte were waiting for them.

"Congratulations Team Anthurium, you've made it to the end first." Monica announced.

The teens cheered happily. About two minutes later, Team Plumeria came.

"Aw man, we lost." complained Kahlin.

"I'm afraid so, Team Plumeria. Which means I'll be seeing you tonight at the elimination ceremony." Monica told.

As the team headed back on the bus, Vivian looked at Caden. She hoped he wouldn't be the one to get sent home.

Back at the set, Team Plumeria discussed their loss. The guys and girls separated to keep things private.

"I say Taylor goes." said Caden.

"Well it was her not knowing how to use the compass that cost us the challenge." mentioned Edu.

"I think we can all agree. I wonder what the girls are saying?" thought Kahlin.

Setsuna and Mia were behind the trailer discussing the matter.

"She's a nice girl, but it was her fault." Mia told.

"True, I just don't know why she didn't just tell us she didn't know how to use a compass." Setsuna added.

Little did they know, Taylor had heard everything.

"I know I messed things up for my team. I admit I'm not one of smartest people around, but I really was trying my best." Taylor confessed.

At the elimination ceremony, Charlotte held the flowers and stood beside Monica.

"Now that your votes have been cast, it's time. The first team member to receive a flower is Edu." Monica said.

Edu got up, and and walked over to Charlotte, and she gave him a flower.

"Mia. Kahlin. Caden."

They all got their flowers leaving, Setsuna and Taylor.

"And now the final flower goes to..."

The two girls glanced at each other.

"...Setsuna."

Sestuna smiled and went to get her flower, while Taylor looked disappointed.

"Congratulations, Sestuna. Taylor time for you to leave." Monica informed.

"I know." Taylor replied, and she went to get her bags.

"And that's another episode of Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style. What will our teens do next, and who'll be next to leave? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced to the audience.
