Chapter 6: Snorkeling (A/N: There's a poll on my profile to decide what my next total drama story will be. Check it out)
"Last time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style, the teams went into the Hawaiian wilderness. Kevin really got under the skin of his female teammates, Taylor got her team lost with her poor navigation skills, which ended up costing Team Plumeria the challenge. On the lighter note, Vivian and Caden noticed each other in a different way. And Setsuna and Edu's feelings seem to be growing. What'll happen now? Find out on this episode of Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced.
The following morning, Kevin was walking around the set. He caught sight of Lucky, Tammie, and Vivian chatting. He scowled, knowing they were probably talking about him.
"Something needs to be done. The girls have us outnumbered, and with Johnny on their side, I'm gonna have to start doing something about it." Kevin said.
"What do you think we're doing today?" asked Lucky.
"I hope it's something fun. And not another hiking thing." hoped Tammie.
"We'll find out soon enough." said Vivian.
"Hello, girls." greeted Johnny, walking over.
"Hey, Johnny." said Lucky.
"Listen, I wanted to apologize for Kevin. I don't know why he's like this."
"It's not your fault, Johnny." comforted Vivian.
"Yeah, some people are just unpleasant." added Tammie.
Then Vivian saw Caden walking by.
"Uh, excuse me please." Vivian said, and she hurried after him.
"Hey there, Caden." she greeted.
"Oh, hi Vivian. What's up?"
"Oh nothing. Sorry you guys lost yesterday's challenge."
"It's okay. I'm just glad I didn't get voted off."
"Me too." she whispered.
"What?"
"Nothing. So being in Hawaii's great huh?"
"Yeah, never been here before. It's a beautiful place."
"Yeah, it is."
The two then glanced at each other. When Caden smiled, Vivian's heart fluttered, and she smiled back.
Setsuna and Edu were also having a talk.
"So you like learning about new cultures and stuff?" asked Setsuna.
"Yeah, I find that stuff really cool."
"I had to adjust to a whole new culture when I moved to USA from Japan."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I could tell you about it sometime."
"Okay, how cool is Setsuna? She came from a different country, and knows about a whole different culture. And she got to experience a new one when she moved to America. That's awesome." Edu mentioned to the audience.
"Edu is really interesting. The way he's obsessed with different cultures and countries is really cool." Setsuna confessed.
Kahlin, Mia, and Caden were talking about their strategy, when they heard music, Jazz music. They turned a corner and saw Charlotte playing a saxophone. When she spotted them, she stopped playing.
"Oh, sorry. Was I playing too loud?" she asked.
"No, you're really good at that." Kahlin told her.
"Yeah, where'd you learn to play like that?" Mia wondered.
"I grew up in New Orleans, where Jazz is the city's soundtrack. So I learned to play a Jazz instrument." Charlotte explained.
Pepper who was in Charlotte's little side bag, poked his head out and squeaked.
"Pepper likes it too."
She patted her pet's head. Just then Monica's voice came on over the speakers.
"Attention contestants. Please change into your bathing suits, and meet at the beach in ten minutes."
"Looks like you guys better go get ready." Charlotte told them.
And they all separated.
Down at the beach, everyone was in their bathing suits, even Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte. Monica's bathing suit was a sparkly pink one piece. Hailey's was a green tankini, and Charlotte's was yellow bikini with silver stars on the top.
"All right, everyone. For today's challenge, you'll be getting wet." she told.
"Sounds like fun." said Tammie.
"You'll have to dive into the ocean, and find some treasures."
Edu quickly raised his hand.
"Yes, Edu?" asked Monica.
"What if one of us can't swim?" Edu wanted to know.
"For anyone who can't swim, they can stay on the boat."
Hailey then gave a piece of paper to team Plumeria, and Charlotte gave another to Team Anthurium.
"You'll each have two hours to try and find those treasures. And for those of you who don't know how to snorkel, there'll be a short little tutorial provided by your driver."
Both drivers of the boats, waved at them.
"Now onto your boats." Monica instructed.
And the teams got onto their boats, and began going out to sea.
"So you can't swim, Edu?" asked Setsuna.
Edu looked embarrassed.
"I can't." he confessed.
"Don't worry, Edu." comforted Kahlin.
"You can just wait on the boat, and keep track of time."
Edu smiled at hearing that.
On the boats, the drivers gave the instructions on how to use a snorkel properly.
"Any questions?" asked the driver.
None of the teens had any, and they got into their gear, which included masks, snorkels, swim fins, and a oxygen tank. Then they started talking about the challenge.
"So it looks like we have to find a gold plate, a pearl necklace, a bracelet, and a silver comb." read Setstuna.
"Are we really gonna find that stuff in the water?" asked Caden.
"Hey, you'd be surprised at what you can find in the ocean." Mia told him.
"Well let's get diving." declared Kahlin.
As each member jumped into the water, Edu stopped Setsuna.
"Hey, be careful down there." he warned.
Setstuna smiled.
"Don't worry, I will."
And she dove in.
Team Anthurium, was just going over their list.
"We need a silver mirror, a gold watch, a diamond ring, a mirror, and a hairbrush." Johnny read from the list.
"Well let's get swimmin'." declared Vivian, putting on her swim fins.
Once they were all ready, they plunged into the water.
"Wow this is so cool." observed Tammie.
"Well let's start searching." said Kevin.
And they began swimming in different directions. As Kevin looked around, he suddenly noticed a sea worm that had gotten on his hand.
"Aw gross!" he thought.
He quickly shook his arm to get it off him.
"(Shudders) I hate worms and bugs." he complained.
After he got it off him, he turned and saw Tammie looking at him. He glared at her, and swam away. Back with Team Plumeria, they continued searching. Setsuna carefully looked around some coral, when she spotted something shiny.
She took a closer look, and found a bracelet. She quickly grabbed it, and waved her teammates over. After showing them the bracelet, she swam up to the surface. Edu saw her pop out of the water, and swim to the boat.
"We found the bracelet." she informed.
"Great." he replied.
She gave it to him, and went back into the water. Just then Monica came by riding on a jet ski.
"Attention teams, you have an hour and forty-five minutes left." she announced on her megaphone.
"You better get back down there." Edu told her.
She nodded, and went back into the water.
Meanwhile with Team Anthurium continued swimming around looking for their treasures. While the other members looked around, Kevin was carefully watching the girls.
"So obviously, one of the girls has to go. But the issue is which one?" Kevin thought.
Johnny was scanning the water, when he spotted something sticking out from the sand. He signaled Lucky over, and together they uncovered the object. Johnny pulled it out, and it was a mirror. He then swam up to the surface.
After placing it in the boat, he saw Hailey riding on a jet ski.
"Team you're now down to one hour." she informed through her megaphone.
With that being said, Johnny dove back under. As the others continued to look, Tammie found a worm swimming around. She then got a sly look on her face.
"I know we're in the middle of a challenge. But this prank is too good not to do." Tammie confessed.
Tammie picked up the worm, and put it on Kevin's swim fin. At first he didn't notice it, but then he felt something on his leg. When he looked down, he flipped out. He swung his legs around wildly, and tried to swat it off him.
It caught the attention of his teammates, who could help but chuckle and giggle at his antics. When he finally got it off him, he noticed them. He scowled and swam off.
Team Plumeria they managed to find the gold plate and the comb.
"We've just got one more thing to find." said Caden, as he and Mia put the items on the boat.
"This challenge could be ours." hoped Mia.
The Charlotte appeared on her jet ski.
"You guys got thirty minutes left." she called out.
"Keep going, guys." encouraged Edu.
And they went back into the water. Team Anthurium kept looking for their items, Vivian found the gold watch, and Johnny located a hairbrush.
"We're doing great, we just need one more thing." he told her.
"And we better hurry." she replied.
They went under the water, and started looking for the diamond ring.
Team Plumeria swam around, and searched for the pearl necklace. They looked through the sand, in the coral, and in the seaweed. Just then, Kahlin felt something in a little cave. He was just about to reach in and grab it, when suddenly an eel poked its' head out!
He quickly pulled his hand back, and his teammates swam over. Using his hands he told them the situation. They had to think quickly, and they went up to the surface to talk.
The other team was still looking for their last treasure, the diamond ring.
"Where could it be?" thought Lucky.
Vivian looked in some rocks, but to no avail. Johnny searched the sand, and Kevin looked in the sand. As Tammie looked for the ring, she found another sea worm. She got a sly look on her face, and decided to play another prank.
She grabbed it, and this time put it on Kevin's back. The worm crawled down his back, and at first Kevin thought it was just water. But when he felt something crawl into his swim trunks, that's when he started to freak out again.
As he swam frantically around, the others found it very amusing.
Back with Team Plumeria, they had come up with a plan. They would use a fish they caught to lure the eel out, and then they would grab the pearls. Kahlin stuck his hand back in the cave again to alert the eel, and when it poked its' head out, Mia lured the eel away with the fish.
Once the eel was out of the cave, Mia grabbed the necklace. With the necklace in their possession, the teens rose to the surface. Just as they poked their heads out, Monica blew a horn.
"Time's up teams! Get in your boats and head back to shore." she called.
While Team Plumeria was very pleased with themselves, Team Anthurium was disappointed and Kevin was angry. As he was pacing the boat, he overheard the girls talking.
"So big macho Kevin's afraid of worms." said Lucky.
"I know I shouldn't have but those worm pranks were too good to pass up." Tammie told them.
"Hey, he deserved it." Vivian replied. Kevin gritted his teeth.
"So it was her who kept putting those worms on me. She's so gonna pay for this." Kevin growled.
When they got back to the beach, the teams presented their treasures.
"Well Team Plumeria found all their treasures. Team Anthurium let's see yours." Monica said.
The teens pulled out their treasure, but unfortunately they didn't find the diamond ring.
"Well Team Anthurium, since you're on treasure short, Team Plumeria wins."
Plumeria cheered while Anthurium groaned.
"I'll see you guys at the elimination ceremony. And Team Plumeria for your prize, you'll be treated to some pineapple soft serve ice cream after dinner."
As they all walked back to the trailers, Edu noticed Setsuna talking to Kahlin.
"Good job getting the pearl necklace." she said, as she playfully punched him on the arm.
"Thanks, Setsuna." he replied.
She winked at him. That made Edu a little concerned, was Setsuna falling for Kahlin now?
While they were in the showers, Kevin spoke to Johnny from his stall.
"You know, Johnny. We could've won the challenge if Tammie didn't keep pranking me." he informed.
"She was?"
"Yeah. She didn't really contribute much."
"Hmm."
"I can get Johnny's vote. But the girls won't be so easy. They may have us outnumbered, but I have a plan." Kevin told.
At the elimination ceremony, the teams cast their votes, and were waiting to receive their flowers.
"All right everyone. It's now time to see who's staying and who's leaving." Monica said.
Charlotte stepped up with the flowers, and Hailey handed Monica a clipboard.
"Lucky."
She got up and got the flower from Charlotte.
"Johnny. Vivian."
Now it was down between Tammie and Kevin.
"And the final flower goes to..."
"...Kevin."
Tammie looked shocked, as did the other girls, while Kevin just got up and got his flower.
"Yep, I'm staying. How you may ask? Well...I made some changes to the votes." Kevin confessed, as he held up a pen.
"I may be going home because of those pranks I pulled on Kevin. But it was worth it." Tammie told the audience.
Tammie said goodbye to the girls, and then went to leave.
"And there goes Tammie. Who'll leave next? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced.
