Chapter 9: Paddleboarding

"Last time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style, the teams merged and it now everyone contestant was on their own. They competed in a hula dance, where they were judged by their moves and costumes. Kevin sabotaged Mia's dance, and she was the one to go. What'll happen now? And who'll leave next? Find out now on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced.

Mia had just left, and now the teens were getting ready for bed. As Lucky was heading back to the trailer from brushing her teeth, she overheard something. It was Kevin talking to himself, so she quickly hid behind a tree.

"That's another girl down." he sneered, looking at the half empty bottle of baby oil.

Lucky couldn't believe her eyes and ears.

"So Kevin sabotaged Mia? He's worse than I thought." she said.

She hurried to the trailer, and burst inside. Setsuna was brushing her hair, and Vivian was putting away her clothes.

"Girls you Kevin sabotaged Mia." she informed.

"What?" asked Sestuna.

Lucky told them about what she'd seen, and they were furious.

"Gee, that Kevin really is bad news." said Setsuna.

"We gotta do something about that guy." Vivian declared.

"But what?" thought Lucky.

"I think we may need the guys' help." Setsuna told.

"We already have Johnny on our side. But we need more." mentioned Vivian.

"And luckily I can get one of the guys on our side." Setsuna replied knowingly.

And she quickly left the trailer.

In the guys' trailer, Kahlin had just come in from taking a shower, Edu was flipping through one of the books he bought, Johnny was clipping his toe nails, and Kevin was just settling into bed. Just as Edu was about to turn the page, when a paper airplane suddenly landed on his book.

Confused, he picked it up and unfolded it. On it was written,

"Come outside behind the trailer."

Edu peeked out the window, and caught a glimpse of someone sneaking outside. Curious, Edu got up and went to the door.

"Where you going, Edu?" asked Kahlin.

"Uh, just the bathroom." he answered, and left the trailer.

Once he was outside, he quickly went to the back of the trailer.

"Hello?" he whispered.

"Edu, back here." called a voice.

Edu followed it, and saw Setsuna.

"Setsuna, what's going on?"

"Listen, Kevin is a real threat. He needs to go."

At first Edu was confused, and then Setsuna led him to the girls' trailer.

At first, Edu was stunned to be in the girls' trailer at night. But eventually he got over his shock.

"So...what's all this about Kevin?" he asked.

"Kevin's a dirty player. He's been sabotaging the other contestants." explained Lucky.

"Really?"

"Yeah, he sabotaged Mia, and he convinced Caden to blow the challenge for his team." Vivian added.

"We need your help to get rid of him."

"But how?"

"We need you on our side, and see if you can convince Kahlin to help."

Edu understood.

"Now you better get back to the guys' trailer." Setsuna urged.

And with that Edu quickly left.

"Wow. I didn't think I'd be pulled into something like this. But I got to see Setsuna in her pajamas, she looked cute." Edu told the audience.

The next morning, the contestants had their breakfast in the mess hall. As Edu ate his bacon and eggs, Kahlin asked,

"Were you sick last night?"

"What?"

"You were gone for a while."

Edu realized what he was talking about.

"I'll tell you later." he replied.

Kevin who was eating his breakfast, overheard the conversation.

"Something's going on." Kevin said.

"But what?"

Then Charlotte came into the mess hall.

"Attention everyone, your next challenge will be beginning in two hours. Be down at the beach in your bathing suits." she announced.

"Hey, Charlotte." called Johnny.

Charlotte turned to him.

"Where are Monica and Hailey?"

"They're getting things ready. See you at the beach, some on Pepper."

Pepper, who was sitting on her shoulder squeaked.

"Looks like we're going to be getting wet again." said Setsuna.

"Oh boy." complained Edu.

Two hours later, the teens were down at the beach in their bathing suits. Monica and Hailey then appeared wearing wet suits.

"All right everyone, today we'll be going back out to sea by paddle boards." Monica told them.

"Paddle boards?" asked Lucky.

"Similar paddle boats, only instead of sitting in a boat, you'll be standing on a board." Hailey explained.

That made sense to teens.

"You'll be competing in a paddle board race across the ocean. The winner will get immunity."

Monica pointed at the water, where there were buoys with different colored flags on them.

"You'll have to follow the buoys, and to shake things us a bit..."

"Don't tell me, there are sharks, jellyfish, piranhas?" asked Kevin.

Monica smiled, and shook her head.

"No, no, no, nothing like that. Just some mild water bombs. And not to worry they won't cause any danger to you or the wild life here."

That sounded fine to the contestants. Hailey then gave them their boards, and quick instructions on how to use them.

"Uh, Monica could I get a life vest or something?" Edu requested.

"The paddle boards have a special cable you attach to your ankle, to keep you from getting separated from it. But don't worry, Edu, we can get you one."

"Whew."

After a while, the contestants wore special long sleeved wet shirts, and were on the water on their boards.

"Oh boy." whispered Edu.

Setsuna noticed Edu was nervous, so she paddled up to him. "You okay there, Edu?" she asked.

"I don't know. I can't swim and what if I fall in the water?"

"Don't worry. You've got a life vest, and the cord. You'll be fine." she comforted.

She then placed her hand on his shoulder, and the two looked into each other's eyes. Suddenly, they were snapped out of their daze by the sound of Monica's voice.

"All right, people you'll be going around in a big circle. Just follow the buoys starting with the green flag, follow the blue flags, and then you'll finish at a red flag. Be on the watch out for those bombs, and now for the rules."

"I thought there'd be no rules." whispered Lucky.

"They'll be no jabbing, pushing, or splashing. Is everyone ready?"

Everyone nodded and said,

"yes".

"Then on your marks...get set...GO!"

And she blew a blow horn. With that, the teens paddled off into the ocean.

So far things were going good for the teens. Edu was carefully paddling his board, making sure to keep it and himself steady.

"Oh boy." he whispered.

Suddenly, a water bomb went off! Everyone got drenched, and some were pushed off the course by the wave.

"Aw man. Why didn't I take swimming lessons before coming on this show?"

"Whoa! That was rush." Setsuna replied. "Make way!" called Kevin. He quickly paddled by her.

"Hey!" she protested.

And she quickly paddled after him. Johnny was paddling gracefully over the water, and was going pretty fast.

"I held back on my skills last time, but this time I'm giving it my all." Johnny told the audience.

Kevin was paddling, when he spotted Lucky. He got a sneaky look on his face, and used his paddle to splash her.

"What the...?" Lucky asked.

"Excuse me, coming through." he told, as he paddled by her.

Lucky gritted her teeth and growled, and she paddled faster. Another water bomb went off, sending Kahlin, Setsuna, and Edu off their boards. They managed to get back to the surface, and onto their boards.

"You okay, Edu?" asked Setsuna.

"(Coughs), don't worry, I'm fine." Edu replied.

"So is anyone gonna tell me what's going on?" Kahlin wanted to know, as they continued to paddle.

He was referring to what Edu said he'd tell him later at breakfast.

"Last night, we were having a little meeting about Kevin. He's bad news." warned Setsuna.

The two explained all the things that Kevin had done, and this surprised Kahlin.

"So Kevin's the bad guy here? Wow."

"So we're going to need you in the group in order to get Kevin out of here."

"Okay, I'm in."

"Great."

And they got back to the race.

"We're now halfway through the race. And so far Johnny is still in the lead." Monica announced.

Johnny stroked his paddle swiftly through the water, but the other contestants were close behind.

"It could still be anyone's race." Hailey mentioned.

"If I can just pass him." whispered Vivian.

Kevin was doing some heavy paddling, he was trying to get ahead of Vivian.

"There's no way I'm gonna let a girl beat me." Kevin said.

Kevin had managed to catch up to Vivian, but before he could pass her, a water bomb went off sending him back.

"We're almost there." said Edu.

He really wanted to get out of the water. Lucky picked up her pace, and caught up with the others. Soon, the red flag came into view. They all pushed forward, trying to make it. The bombs kept going off, and they kept getting drenched with saltwater, but they paddled on.

"And the winner is..." Monica announced.

And the one to pass the red flag was...Johnny!

"Johnny wins!" cheered Charlotte.

Johnny landed on shore, and held up his arms victoriously. The next ones to finish were Vivian, Lucky, Kevin, Kahlin, Setsuna, and Edu.

"Johnny, as the winner you get immunity." Monica told him.

"Awesome!" he cheered.

"As for the rest of you, you'll be deciding who goes home tonight." Hailey informed.

"Let's get back to the set." said Charlotte.

After everyone had showered and changed back into their regular clothes the girls spoke in their trailer.

"So we're all agreed we're voting for Kevin?" asked Vivian.

"Yep." said Setsuna.

"You know it." added Lucky.

"Now we just need the guys." They spoke to Kahlin, Edu, and Johnny, and they understood.

At the elimination ceremony, everyone had cast their votes, sat in their spots, and waited.

"All right everyone, you've cast your votes and now it's time. When I call your name, come get a flower." Monica said.

Charlotte had the flowers in her hand, they were a mix of plumerias and anthuriums.

"Setsuna."

"Vivian."

"Kahlin."

"Lucky."

Each of them got up, and got their flowers.

"And the final flower goes to..."

Edu and Kevin glared at each other.

"...Edu."

"Yes!" cheered Edu, as he got up and got his flower.

"What!?" Kevin asked in disbelief.

"Sorry, Kevin. You gotta go."

Kevin growled.

"Fine, I'm gone! At least I won't be trapped her with these girls." Kevin complained, and left.

"Goodbye and good riddance." whispered Vivian.

"And that's another challenge and elimination. What will happen now? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica told the audience.
