Chapter 3 Back home
Toni grinned and looked up from her father´s diary. The weirdest thing is, she should be disgusted to hear her Dad talk about this stuff. But weirdly, she wasn´t. She had managed to read her father´s diary again. It was great to read how caring her father was. Not like a typical sixteen-year-old.
She took a deep breath and looked back at the book. Before she could start reading, there was a soft knock on her bedroom door.
„Come in!" called Toni.
Sammy smiled and stuck his head in before walking through and closing the door behind him. Toni put the book aside.
„Hey Sammy…I didn´t know you where here." Said she happily.
„Yeah…just got here, your Granny is trying to make me a sandwich." He grinned as he sat down on Toni´s bed.
„Oh yum. She makes yummy sandwiches." Toni gushed.
„No conversation for so long…how are you?" Sammy looked at her.
Toni shrugged. She wouldn´t lie. Sammy was not only her cousin but also a good friend. They had grown up together.
„Are you going to continue reading the diary?"
„Yeah, it just won´t let me go. Here, listen…We could live in a beautiful big house in Beverly Hills with a lagoon pool and two kids. Maybe a boy and a girl. Maybe twins like her and Brandon. I could imagine. It felt good to remember that we are family. I could be anything to Brenda…a husband, a father. I think even a grandfather. One day maybe…I think it´s one step at a time…Dylan"
Toni looked at Sammy. It had all happend. The house in Beverly Hills, they were even three children. Only the lagoon pool was missing. Maybe her father would still build it.
„That sounds like a perfect love." Sammy looked out the window.
„But I still don´t understand when this other woman comes into play?" Toni looked questioning at Sammy.
„Just keep reading." Sammy clasped his hands behind his head.
Toni was just about to start when Iris knocked on the door. „Here come the sandwiches."
„Thanks Iris." Sammy smiled at her.
„Thanks Granny."
Iris smiled at both of them and disappeared again.
Toni took the diary and continued reading while Sammy listened to her attentively. Dylan wrote about Brenda´s fears of having cancer. Then Sammy pricked up his ears.
„Aunt Brenda had cancer?"
„It was a suspicion. Mom´s Aunt had cancer and died from it. For this reason Sheila was named after her." Toni explained. „And it´s odd that Dad was drinking a lot at our age."
„It seemed Uncle Dylan didn´t have a good childhood."
„Yes, Granny had told me about it. Dad was a lot alone as a kid. That´s why he drank."
„Did you actually meet your grandfather?"
„No. He died when Dad was in highschool. Dad had told us a few things about him. I don´t think I would have liked him. Even though he´s my Grandpa. I just felt sorry for Dad. He was almost always alone with the Nanny."
„And then he met Aunt Brenda."
„Yes. Let´s read on."
And she kept reading about Dylan´s trip to Baja. Then her room phone rang. Sammy answered.
„All right Iris we´re coming down."
Toni looked at him.
„Iris says I should go. You still want to go to Erica´s."
„Okay." Toni put the book away and Sammy said goodbye.
She would read on the next day.
She was barely home from school and in her room she opened the book…
It´s been a whole day and I still can´t wipe the smile off my face…
Ooh, the spring dance…
Now it got interesting. Toni immediately had the photo of her parents in mind. Her Mom looked so pretty in it. The dress was stunning. And her Dad…really hot.
Toni blushed at the thought. The idea of her parents having sex…although, as affectionate as her parents were always with each other…she didn´t find the idea that disgusting. She was about to continue rading when Sheila burst into her room.
„We want to go to the supermarket. We´re cooking Mom´s and Dad´s welcome dinner tomorrow after school."
„I´m coming." Annoyed, Toni quickly put the book away. And again she couldn´t read any further. Just now that it got interesting.
„What are you reading there?" Sheila looked curiously in Toni´s bed.
„A book." Toni answered shortly.
„Which book?"
„It´s nothing for you."
Sheila looked at the cover. „Dylan´s Diary…this is Dad´s Diary. Does Dad know that?"
„Granny knows."
„What does it say?" Sheila was very excited.
„Just how Mom and Dad met." Toni put the diary away.
„May I read along?" Sheila begged her sister.
„But don´t say anything to Granny or Kyle. Today, after dinner, with me." Toni was strict with her little sister.
Toni hoped that Sheila had forgotten about it by the evening. She was too young to read the diary.
„Thank you." Sheila hugged her sister gratefully.
„No let´s go downstairs." Toni took Sheila and pushed her out of her room.
Iris wanted to make Burritos for Dylan and Brenda and hot apple pie for dessert.
The four of them stood together in the kitchen and stared preparing the meal. They didn´t realize that a taxi stopped in front of the house.
Brenda got out first. Dylan got their suitcases out of the trunk.
„Here we are again." She breathed out.
„Here we are again." Dylan smirked at her.
They both looked at their house. At the front door, Dylan was about to unlock it when Brenda grabbed his hand.
„It was a wonderful journey."
„Yes, it was." Brenda kissed him passionately.
„We can stay at the hotel tonight." Dylan murmured against her lips.
„I know. But I´d rather not." There was a last kiss.
Then Dylan unlocked the front door.
„We´re home again." Dylan called into the house.
„Mom, Dad." The kids came running.
„My Babies…" Brenda suddenly took her children in her arms.
Iris came out of the kitchen and wiped her hands on the kitchen towel.
„We just finished." She hugged her son.
„How was the flight?
„Pleasant." Brenda hugged her mother-in-law.
„Did you fly first class?"
„Of course." Dylan grinned at his mother.
„Come in first. We can eat right away and then we´ll tell each other everything."
Dylan carried their suitcases upstairs to her bedroom. Meanwhile, Brenda helped Toni set the table.
They enjoyed the food. Groaning with delight, Dylan bit into a burrito. „These are the best I´ve ever eaten."
„It was gorgeous." Brenda beamed. „Weh ad a fantastic breakfast every morning and dinner in the evening. We ate a lot, danced. Dylan taught me chess. And the landscape. The old castles, the people. So hospitable."
Flashback: Although he was there with Kelly at the time, he really wanted to show Brenda this lonely place in the castle. Dylan told Brenda that he was there with Kelly, but Brenda didn´t mind. They were sitting in the same little cafe where Dylan was just reading his book. But this time he wasn´t reading. He couldn´t take his eyes off Brenda. They drank coffee together, shared typical french pastries, exchange little kisses again and again. And Dylan held Brenda´s hand the whole time like he did with Brigitte. It was so different with Brenda.
„And how was it here?" Brenda took a bite out of her veggie burrito.
And the children excitedly began to talk. They had seen a lot.
„Uncle Brandon checked on us too. We met him in the Peach Pit."
„Yes, he told us."
„But something is wrong with Aunt Erica." Kyle shrugged.
„Why?" Dylan looked confused.
„Every time Uncle Brandon was around her, she acted weird." Toni agreed with her brother.
„I´ll call her tomorrow."
After dinner, the children said goodbye. Toni wanted to read, Sheila wanted to watch some TV and Kyle wanted to go to his Play Station.
„Glad, nothing has changed here." Brenda just shook her head.
A yawn escaped her mouth. She got up and cleared the table. Iris helped her.
Dylan looked at his mother. „If you´ll excuse us. Jetlag." He took Brenda´s hand.
„Of course. Have no consideration for me." Iris took her glass and went into the living room.
Toni was in her room and could finally started reading. Apparently Sheila had forgotten. Toni was also quite right.
Dear Diary,
It´s been a whole day and I still can´t wipe the smile off my face. But from the front. I had prepared myself perfectly for this evening. I´d used Brenda´s favorite aftershave, plus extra cologne. I wanted to smell extra good for her. She smelled amazing. Just as gorgeous as she looked. I had to control myself like this. When we were finally in the hotel room I couldn´t control myself anymore. My body was out of control. We kissed each other. It was wonderful. I don´t want to go into detail here, but it was fantastic. Just like we always imagined. We enjoyed each other. I kept asking Brenda if everything was okay. And she nodded contentedly. Anyway, everything was fine with me.
Dylan
A knock sounded at Toni´s door.
Damn the good part. Thought Toni. Now that her parents were home again, she had to be discreet about this book she found. She quickly tucked it away in her bedsidetable.
„Come in." Called her.
Her door opened when her father walked in.
„Mom and I are already going to sleep. But Granny is here. I just wanted to check on you." Dylan walked in and sat across from her on the bed.
His hands gently cupped his daughter´s cheek.
Toni smiled at her father. „I´m fine Daddy. You don´t have to check on me."
Dylan smiled shyly at his daughter.
„Nice that you´re back."
Dylan leaned down and kissed his daughter´s forehead. „I love you sweetie." He said sweetly.
„I love you too Daddy."
They hugged heartfully.
„Sleep well later."
„You too."
Dylan got up.
„Oh Dad?" Toni said quietly.
„Yes." Dylan turned around.
„How did you do that? Carry on these years without Mom? I mean, seeing you guys together now just seems so hard to imagine."
Dylan was confused. „How do you know…"
„Granny told us about it." Toni lied.
She didn´t want to tell her father about the diary.
Dylan looked a little surprised. He didn´t want his mother to talk about it to his kids without his knowledge. Dylan tried to keep his composure.
„What did Granny tell you?"
„That Mom and you were separated for a few years." Toni shrugged innocently. She also struggled for poise.
Dylan swallowed hard.
„You know Toni…one day I´ll tell you and the truth is, looking back now, I´m not sure how I did it. I´ve been with other women, but Mom…" Dylan sighed. „She was just right for me. I felt like I was just getting through life. I guess we both needed to experience life a bit before we settled down." Dylan put his hands in his pockets and smiled.
„When did you guys get back together?" Toni asked, hoping he would share with her.
Dylan giggled. „Fifteen years ago." He found that amusing, she would even want to know. Usually he and Brenda made the kids gross with their affection.
„I know that, but how?" Her eyes begged his. She smiled. „Come on…you can tell me." She added.
Dylan laughed. „Good night sweetie."
„Daddy." Toni whimpered, „Come on…please tell me about you and Mom."
Dylan exhaled, unable to resist her.
„I came back into Mom´s life fifteen years ago and it changed my life forever. She always stood by me, no matter what kind of idiot I was, and I always tried to be there for her, too. It´s been fifteen years of magic, Toni. Mom saved me from myself and gave me the best and most important things she could ever given me. You, Kyle and Sheila. I will forever be grateful to her for giving me this family and I fall more in love with her every day. She is my angel Toni…just like you. She is my best friend. She makes me a better person."
Toni sighed and beamed at her father.
Dylan smiled back.
„But you found each other when you were kids."
Dylan nodded. „That´s true, but it took me a long time to get here. Good night angel."
„Good night Dad." Toni snuggled into bed as Dylan left the room and closed the door.
She heard her father go into Kyle´s room.
Toni knew her father was right.
She would sleep soon too. She knew the next part of her father´s book was going to be cute, or at least she hoped so, but it would wait until tomorrow.
Brenda was already waiting for him in bed.
„Are you okay with he kids?"
„Yes." Dylan locked their bedroom door.
Brenda watched him undress.
„I feel bad. We are hardly at home and already in the bedroom."
„Come on Baby. We´ve had a long journey. We know we´re all fine. And it´s even evening. We can talk about the rest tomorrow."
Brenda nodded and yawned again.
„I really need to talk to Iris tomorrow." Slightly roughly, Dylan tossed his clothes onto a chair.
„Why?"
„My own mother tells our daughter about our relationship. Toni knows we broke up once." He looked at Brenda.
Brenda didn´t like to remember the time. Neither does Dylan. He looked at his wife again and a little guilt surged up again.
He got into bed to Brenda and immediately started kissing her. The conversation with Toni went through his head. Dylan ran his hand through Brenda´s hair.
„I love you Baby." He breathed. „More than anything in the world." And instead of waiting for an answer, he placed his lips on hers. His kiss was hot and demanding.
„How I missed our cozy bed."
„Well, our mattress has had enough rest. Time´s up now." And Dylan kissed Brenda´s body so much that Brenda just giggled.
Yes, the mattress has been used again.
The two were still in bed as Iris and the kids prepared breakfast.
Iris stayed another night. She knew her son and daugher-in-law needed to cath up on sleep.
„Are Mom and Dad awake?" Sheila asked.
„They´re probably still asleep." Iris looked at her affectionately.
Or they´re busy, Iris thought.
Sheila grabbed the house phone and let it ring.
„Good morning sweetheart, we´re coming down." Let Brenda fade away a bit sleepy.
„Okay Mom." Sheila hung up.
„Mom will be right there."
„I don´t think so dear. Let their get some sleep." Iris took her hand. „When you come from school they are awake."
Sheila nodded and continued eating her breakfast.
So, to Jack McKay…I know in S10 he was alive. My opinion, this was shitty. In my eyes the whole story made no sense. Sorry. For this reason, in my story, he´s dead still S3.
I hope my story is already a little different than „Journals Dámour".
And I promiss the story will be different. I just needed an introduction to my story.
And still review please.
