Hi fans…I´m so sorry for this late update. We celebrated the 9th birthday of my daughter and had a lot of things to prepared.
But now it´s going on…don´t worry. The next four chapters are finished.
Chapter 7 The confession
After school Toni came home.
„Mom, I´m already here." She called.
„Mom isn´t here yet." Dylan called back.
Toni went into the kitchen where her father was lying under the sink repairing something.
Dylan didn´t have to go to work. He was able to stay at home, devote himself to his hobby of writing and take care of the house. A nine-to-five job didn´t suit her father either. Dylan enjoyed his free time.
„Mom has a talk at the theater today." Dylan explained, looking at his daughter.
Toni just nodded and left the kitchen.
Dylan didn´t like Toni´s behavior at all. Normally she would sit down next to him and tell him everything about today´s school day. Dylan then barely spoke. But for two days she hardly looked at him, let alone talked to him.
Now his daughter just nodded to him.
„Toni, honey, are you okay?" Dylan got up from under the sink, struggling to get up.
He wiped his dirty hands on a rag and followed Toni.
He only heard her bedromm door close. Dylan looked in the direction of her room. Did she have problems? At school? With a boy? She was only fourteen years old. It couldn´t be possible.
He checked his watch. Brenda would be home any minute. Then he saw the school bus. He opened the door for Sheila and greeted her. Kyle wanted to go to a friend´s house after school. As soon as Sheila had put her satchel in the hallway, she began to talk and Dylan listenend attentively. He hardly spoke.
A little later Brenda also came home. She beamed.
„Well Baby. How was it?" Dylan greeted her with a tender kiss.
„It was great. Barry wants to perform `Ashes to Ashes`.Today the roles were distributed. We´ll start the reading sample tomorrow." She kissed Dylan again.
She went into the living room and greeted her daughter too.
„Where´s Toni?"
„She is in her room. Since one hour. She didn´t say a word to me." Dylan looked helplessy at Brenda.
„She was already yesterday so weird."
„Would you like to talk to her?"
„Yes. I am going to her."
Brenda went up the stairs. Dylan looked after her worriedly.
What had he done to his daughter?
„Toni can I come in?" Brenda knocked on Toni´s door.
„Mom…please just go away." She said tearfully.
Brenda opened the door. „That´s not going to happen, sweetheart." Brenda came in and sat on Toni´s bed.
„What´s up?"
Toni sat still. She considered telling her mother that she knew everything. She sighed dejectedly and reached into her bedside table and pulled out her father´s diary. She looked at Brenda.
„How did you find that?" Brenda whispered.
She reached for it and gently ran her hand over the leather upholstery. She smiled as she opened the first page, which read about her dedication.
„When you were in france, I found it in the study." Toni spoke softly.
„You read it?" Brenda asked cautiously. She knew what was in it. It was very personal.
„Well…sort of. I started reading it, now I don´t know if I want to."
Brenda was unsure. „Dad wrote his whole life in it. How far did you come?"
Toni sighed. „The spring dance…you´re moving to Minnesota."
Brenda nodded. „Ah…the good old days…I haven´t moved, by the way." She tried to smile.
„I know. And Dad is great at writing."
„But…" Brenda added.
„I jumped ahead, Mom. I know about Aunt Kelly."
Brenda looked down. „Oh, I see."
„Why Mom?" Toni looked at her mother. „Why Aunt Kelly?"
Brenda took a deep breath. All the bad memories popped into her head at that moment.
The day in the park…When Dylan told her… the girl he was flirting with…was Kelly…
She swallowed hard.
She didn´t want to sugarcoat anything. She wanted to be honest with her daughter. She took Toni´s hand.
„That´s something you need to discuss with Dad." Brenda looked at her daughter.
As much as Brenda loved her daughter, she didn´t want to speak for Dylan on this point. It was a fact…He had chosen Kelly back then. Now he should have the conversation with his daughter himself.
„Is that why you went to London?" In Toni´s head all the information slowly came together.
„Indeed. I no longer saw a future in Beverly Hills. For me, London was the opportunity to start over at the time."
Everything was spinning in Toni´s head.
„Can you please leave me Mom." She was about to erupt in anger.
Brenda just nodded and got up and was about to leave Toni´s room.
„Mom?" Toni called after her.
Brenda turned around.
„You and Aunt Kelly used to be best friends, right?"
„Yes." Brenda nodded sadly.
„How was it then? I mean…"
Brenda looked down.
„Kelly had been my best friend. After that…not anymore." Brenda didn´t sugarcoat it. „Do you want to finish reading it?"
„Not for now. I need time to think."
Brenda leaned forward and hugged her daughter. „I love you so much."
Toni closed her eyes. „I love you too Mom, thanks." She whispered.
Brenda smiled softly as she left Toni´s room. As she walked to the top of the stairs, Dylan came up. She stopped and stared at him.
Dylan saw the first expression on his wife´s face. He got red eyes.
„And?"
„When we were in france, Toni found your diary. She read it. She know about you and Kelly."
Dylan put his hand over his mouth. Now everything became clear to him. His daughter was angry. Very angry.
„She hates me now." Dylan spoke more to himself than to Brenda.
„Maybe." Brenda looked at her husband.
She knew exactly how her daughter felt right now. Betrayed…lied to…pissed off…disappointed….angry…
Without further words, Brenda went back into the living room to join Sheila.
Dylan took a deep breath. He never thought his past would ever catch up with him again.
He looked into her eyes, tears filled her.
„Shall I talk to her?"
Brenda lowered her head. „Not today. She wants to be left alone."
Dylan nodded.
Toni came down for dinner. She sat down at the table, completely ignoring her father. She couldn´t look at him. Dylan tried to get an expression on her face from time to time but no avail. Toni was just like her father. She mastered the poker face perfectly.
Dylan would have liked to talk to his daugter about it immediately. But he also noticed that today would bring nothing. Instead, he wrote her a little note and later, when the children were in their rooms, slipped it under Toni´s door.
Toni grabbed it and read the note.
„Can we talk tomorrow"
Toni took a deep breath. She knew she had to talk to her Dad about it.
Dylan was still standing at Toni´s door. He had seen that she had taken the note. He heard her take a deep breath. He just sighed.
What would tomorrow be like?
Brenda didn´t seem to feel any different. She lay silenly in bed and stared at the ceiling. She couldn´t get the conversation she had with her daughter out of her head. Likewise her old feelings, which, although gone for years, were suddenly there again.
Dylan joined her in the bedroom and undressed. His eyes fell on Brenda.
„What´s up Baby?"
Brenda´s eyes went from the ceiling to her husband. „I can´t sleep in the same bed with you tonight." She turned her head back to the covers.
Dylan closed his eyes. He already feared something like this.
„Bren…Baby…" He tried to look into her face as well, but Brenda rolled over so Dylan only saw the back of her head.
And again he sighed, took a blanket and left their bedroom.
As he tried to get comfortable on the sofa, he was furious with himself. Not only was his daughter ignoring him, Brenda was apparently doing the same now.
Was his marriage in danger now?
Dylan tried to convince himself that it was only for this one time that he slept on the sofa. He didn´t sleep a wink that night.
In the morning Dylan felt awful.
At 6 a.m. he finally decided to get up and prepare breakfast. He hoped coffee would wake him up. At 7 a.m. Brenda came down. She didn´t look like she had slept much either. She usually kissed Dylan good morning first.
However, this was not the case today. Dylan handed her a cup of coffee hoping she would look at him. But she just took the cup and sat down at the kitchen island.
Dylan came over and stood behind her.
„I´m sorry." Dylan murmured over and over, kissing her neck.
Brenda´s head fell forward. He saw her get goosebumps. But she didn´t say a word. He could feel Brenda struggling with her feelings.
After a final kiss on her shoulder, Dylan left Brenda alone and sat across from her on the kitchen island.
The kids should come down soon.
Sheila and Kyle came first and sat down with their parents in a good mood. Brenda checked her watch. Toni should also appear soon.
She appeared at literally the last second. „I overslept." She just mumbled and quickly ate her cereal.
Although she was trying to keep her eyes on her breakfast or the packet, Dylan tried to make eye contact with his eldest. He had preferred to leave her alone that evening. He didn´t want to pressure her into anything.
As soon as she finished her cereal she got up.
„Have to go. I have an appointment with Sammy."
Without another word, she grabbed her backpack and rushed out of the house.
Kyle and Sheila looked at each other. What was the matter with her sister?
They noticed that the mood this morning was different than usual. Their parents looked very tired and didn´t say a word to each other. Her Mom didn´t hum like she always did and talked about her upcoming rehearsals. And their father didn´t read the newspaper. Nor did they exchange any affection as usual.
Kyle looked into the living room. He saw the messy sofa. Had his father spent the night down here? Did their parents fight? Kyle was about to ask his father when his Mom pulled him out of his thoughts.
„Kyle, it´s time."
Sheila´s school bus came too.
When the kids were gone, Brenda got up too.
„I have to go to the theater."
She was about to leave when Dylan gently held her.
„Baby, I´m sorry. I didn´t want those feelings to come up in you again."
Brenda looked at him. Her eyes were red. Dylan took her face in his hands.
„I love you Bren. And nothing will ever change that. I promised you that fourteen years ago."
„I love you too Dylan. That´s why it hurts so much when all those memories come up again."
Dylan said nothing more. He took her in his arms and hugged her tightly. Of course it had been his biggest mistake of his whole life. And he had to learn to live with it. And he also knew that he and enough to put it all behind them.
When Dylan had Brenda in his arms he was so happy again. He kissed her cheek over and over again. Then they looked at each other and a second later Dylan put his lips on Brenda´s. Brenda returned his kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. Dylan immediately deepended it, picking Brenda up and setting her down on the kitchen island. He stood between her legs. They kissed hard.
„Do you really have to go the theater right away?" Dylan´s mouth was an inch from hers.
„Yes. Rehearsals start at 9 a.m."
„Do we still have time for a shower together?" Dylan kissed her again.
„Be glad you can kiss me again." She kissed him and then jumped off the kitchen island.
Dylan pulled her close again and kissed her neck before Brenda made her way to the bathroom alone, giggling.
Toni was glad that she had a lot of lessons today. That would be a good distraction. During the lunch break she ran into Sammy and Stevie.
Steve Sanders junior looked like his father. The same blond hair, the same powerful muscles, the cheeky grin.
„Look what I got from Grandma Samantha…a Rolex." Stevie showed around his watch.
Toni and Sammy looked at her and nodded. They didn´t care the bean for that wrist watch. Toni was only interested in one thing…whether Sammy had read on and he already knew that his mother and her Dad were a couple?
„I just found out that Mom had another boyfriend…a Tom. And that there were other men too. I wonder how many guys were there? I´m slowly losing respect for her."
If Sammy only knew there really was another guy…
„Are you coming back to us later?" He asked.
„Not today. I have a lot of homework to do." Toni lied.
Sammy shouldn´t know that she was about to talk to her father. That have only suspected her.
Toni entered the house with shaky knees.
Dylan was already waiting for her in the kitchen. He had prepared her favorite food, Burritos. Especially for her.
„H-Hi honey. Sit down." Dylan´s voice was shaking.
He patted the seat next to him. He was terribly nervous.
Toni sat down with her father on the kitchen island. She avoided all eye contact. Dylan poured her a glass of lemonade. Toni noticed that his hand was shaking too. He didn´t know how to start.
Finally, Dylan took a deep breath. „I found out from Mom that you found my diary."
Instead of an answer, Toni blurted out. „Why Aunt Kelly?" She yelled at her father. „Why? Why? Why?" All the anger came out of her. Lightning shot from her eyes.
Dylan started. He had never seen his daughter so angry. He struggled for composure. „Honey, I was an emotional mess at the time. You know I had a difficult childhood. I was always alone, I didn´t know any rules. I could always do whatever I wanted. And that sucked. And then there were these difficulties with Grandpa Jim."
Dylan tried to explain his situation to his daughter.
„The relationship with Mommy was incredible mature. We were only sixteen when we met. We were too young for something like that." Dylan went to take Toni´s hand but she pulled her hand away. He exhaled. Now came the awkward part.
„Then Mom was in Paris with Donna and Aunt Kelly and I were alone in the summer. We kissed."
Toni couldn´t stay in her seat any longer. She had jumped up and was pacing up and down.
„You kissed Aunt Kelly? You kissed Aunt Kelly when Mom was on vacation?" Toni screamed again.
Dylan looked down guiltily. He stopped whimpering and looked up. A tear fell on Toni. He got up too, wanting to reassure her.
But Toni went away and wiped away the tear. „Don´t touch me." She snapped at her father.
Dylan was completely overwhelmed.
His fourteen-year-old daughter stood in front of him and yelled at him.
„You kissed Aunt Kelly?"
Dylan´s eyes turned red. Shame spread over him. He exhaled. „Yes."
„How could you?" She screamed so loud that she choked.
„I was an asshole at the time." Dylan tried to explain himself.
„And what about when Mom came back?" Toni´s voice was shaking.
„Kelly and I met secretely."
Toni started crying again. Again and again she wiped her face. She was breathing so fast and heavily. And again and again she looked at her father venomously.
Dylan took another deep breath. He closed his eyes. He had the whole event clearly in his eyes.
„Mom spotted Kelly and me at a restaurant. She was so scared. Mom and Kelly gave me a choice. I should choose one of them."
Dylan slowly opened his eyes. He saw Toni. She was red-faced with anger and tear-streaked face. Her gaze was fixed on her father. Her breathing grew heavier and heavier.
Dylan knew what she wanted to ask. He was afraid. But his daughter deserved the truth.
He closed his eyes again.
„I chose Aunt Kelly as my girlfriend."
THAT was it for Toni.
Dylan had hardly opened his eyes when he saw Toni´s horrified face.
Although Toni looked more like her father, her facial expresssion reminded him of Brenda back then. It broke his heart. And just a second later Toni attacked her father. She slapped him with her hands, punching his chest.
„How could you? How could you? How could you?" She screamed and cried over and over again.
Dylan tried to hold her arms but Toni was too forceful.
Brenda came into the living room and only saw how Toni pushed her father with such force that he almost fell on the floor.
„I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!" Toni screamed and ran up the stairs in tears.
„Honey…" Dylan called after her but all he heard was her bedroom door slam.
His eyes fell on Brenda. Brenda looked at him with a change of satisfaction and pity.
Dylan started crying bitterly. But she didn´t care about him at first. She had to go to her daughter. She knocked softly on the room door.
„Leave me alone, everyone." Toni yelled.
„It´s me honey." Brenda was gentle. „Would you like to open the door for me?" Brenda listened.
She heard no footsteps. Just muffled crying. It was ok. She knew exactly how her daughter felt. She needed time. She had to realize everything.
„If you want to talk, I´m in the kitchen."
Still no reaction.
Desperate, Brenda went down the stairs. Dylan was sitting on the sofa in the living room with his head in his hands.
His nightmare had come true…his daughter hated him. And she had every reason to.
Now, the truth is out. I hope I was able to describe everything well. I wanted to be careful what Dylan said because Toni is only fourteen years old. And she is his daughter. I didn´t think a father should be talk about his sex life with his own daughter. Toni now knows that Dylan kissed her own Aunt and hurted her Mom and chose her Aunt over her Mom. From my point of view, that was the most important thing. Please review…
