Chapter 17 The Boy is Mine
At school in the morning, Stevie looked for Toni. He found her by her locker.
„Hi Toni. How was your weekend?" He leaned against her locker door.
„Quiet. Yesterday I used the time when our parents were at the CU and read a lot." Toni explained.
Stevie was obviously a little nervous. He´d been being so weird to her all week.
„And how did you like the barbecue?" he tried to start a conversation.
„It was very delicious. Your Dad was great." Toni sensed Stevie wanted something else.
And finally he took a deep breath. „Toni, may I come to your house? I promise I´ll behave myself too."
Now Toni took a deep breath. It was time for the truth.
„Come on Toni. Invite me to you." He tried again.
Toni closed her eyes briefly. „Stevie, listen. I like you. But I know what you´re up to and what you´re feeling. Do you think I didn´t notice your advances on Saturday? I don´t appreciate you as a friend anymore. We do not have anything in common."
„I can change that." Stevie was excited. „I do more sports, I buy books…" he listed.
„No Stevie. That is not enough. You´re not my type either."
„And who´s your type?" Stevie was disappointed.
„I do not know that yet. At least not you." Toni took his hand, squeezed it and closed her locker. She turned and left Stevie standing.
At lunch Sammy, Toni and Kyle were alone. Sammy suspected that Toni had spoken to Stevie. Her look betrayed everything.
„How long will Stevie grieve?" Chuckled Sammy.
„Let him alone. But I wanted to be honest." Toni shrugged.
And Sammy chuckled again. „Let´s see who falls for you next. Then Stevie will definitely get jealous."
„If he starts I´ll smack him." Toni looked at her cousin sternly. „I can´t stand that at all."
„Want to read together again today?" Sammy asked, changing the subject.
„We can." Toni smiled at Sammy and was grateful for the change.
Because one thing was certain…Toni would not go home to Stevie for the time being. And she wasn´t sad about it either.
Today was free of rehearsals. As always, Brenda´s premiere had been successful. Now she had more time in the morning. She had just cleaned her kitchen when the doorbell rang.
„Do you really believe I´ll leave right away once I´m back in my old homeland?" Valerie grinned cheekily at Brenda.
The women hugged each other in greeting.
„Come in Val. Let´s chat."
„That´s exactly why I´m here." Val reached behind her back and pulled out a bottle of champagne.
„It´s 10 a.m."
„So what? When am I here already?"
Brenda nodded and got two glasses from the cupboard.
„Where´s Dylan?" Valerie looked around.
„He´s under his Porsche." Explained Brenda.
„He´d better be under you." Valerie smirked on her.
Brenda blushed. And Valerie understood. „Yes, there was hot morning sex." Valerie raised both fists in the air.
„We really have to toast that." She poured the champagne into the glasses.
The two clink glasses.
„Now tell me the latest rumors. I want to know everything." Valerie looked at Brenda excitedly.
„Well, Toni has her first suitor."
„And who is the lucky one?"
„Steve Sanders jr."
„Oh, the litte Sanders. And? What does Toni say about that?"
„She´s not interested." Brenda shrugged. „She wanted to tell him at school today."
Valerie laughed and took a sip.
„And what are you up to?"
„My gallery in New York is great. The artists break in our doors. The order books are full."
„I´m so glad to you."
„And my boss gave me the convertible as a present."
„Nice boss. I only get flowers after every premiere." Brenda laughed.
Then she got serious. „And there´s something else. There seems to be a crisis between David and Donna."
„I know Brenda." Valerie looked at her. „David was with me yesterday. We had sex."
„Val?" Brenda raised her eyebrows.
„I know he´s married. But David is totally unhappy. He came to see me last night. We talked for a long time. And then…"
„And now?" Brenda whispered.
„David will break up with Donna. We have to wait for her to come back. Yesterday she flew to a client after the CU."
„And what about Ruby?"
„I do not know her yet. But this weekend, as usual, you´re going to Palm Springs for a few days. I´ll come with you. I want to meet Ruby."
„Oh my god. The kids are already looking forward to Palm Springs. This is going to be great. The house has a lot of space." Brenda always had a lot of fun with Valerie and she knew she was there with her…there had to be a drink and a laugh, just what they all needed. FUN!
They picked up their glasses and drained the champagne. Valerie immediately refilled. At that moment Dylan walked in. He was shirtless, wore only dirty jeans and was smeared all over with motor oil.
„Oh we have company?" Dylan wiped his hands.
„Nice to see you Dylan." Valerie looked him up and down. Dylan went to the fridge and pulled out a cold bottle of water.
„You seem to be fine. Champagne in the morning."
„When Valerie is here?" Brenda winked at her friend.
Instead of paying attention to Valerie, Dylan took the back of Brenda´s head and planted a hot kiss on her lips. Smiling in the kiss, Brenda openend her mouth for him. Amused, Valerie watched them and drank their champagne.
„Don´t let me disturb you."
Brenda and Dylan broke up again.
„It must have been good this morning." Valerie raised her eyebrows ambiguously.
„It was amazing." Dylan slapped Brenda´s ass and drank his water.
„Dylan!" Brenda blushed again.
Valerie giggled. „That´s how I love you guys."
„I´ll leave the ladies alone again." He gave Brenda a shorter kiss and went back into the garage.
As soon as they were alone again, Brenda started straight away.
„Valerie, are you sure about David? I mean, you´re not a motherly type."
„I know what my life has been like so far. Lots of guys and meaningsless sex. But with David it´s different. It always has been. David is the only man I could talk to him about anything."
„I think Kelly doesn´t know yet?"
„No. You are the first."
Brenda took a deep breath. „There´s something you should know too. David turned Erica on quite a bit. Weh ad a barbecue at Steve´s last weekend."
Valerie smiled. „Yes, I know that. David told me that straight away." She took another sip of champagne. „And that David has cheated on Donna before."
Now Brenda took a big gulp of champagne.
„Does that mean he ony used Erica?"
„No. From what I understand, he regretted it too. He would never take advantage of Erica. She is too important to him for that."
„You two really talked about everything."
„Yes. It was so lovely."
„Have you ever had before…?"
„No, yesterday was the first time."
„And why are you telling me this and not Kelly?"
„Because you are my best friend Brenda. I trust you absolutely."
Brenda wrapped Valerie in her arms.
„And because I still can´t stand Kelly. Brandon didn´t deserve her."
„Without wanting to defend her now, Kelly has really changed in the last fourteen years. We get along much better. She´s great with the kids and she loves Brandon." Brenda took a sip of champagne.
„I can´t wait to see Donna´s face anyway." Valerie looked smugly at Brenda. „I never understood why David married her. He deserves better."
They exchanged a look. Yes, Valerie could trust Brenda. She wouldn´t tell anyone about it.
After school, Kelly drove to Donna´s house. She rang and waited. David opened the door with a smile.
„Hey Kel…come in, come in." They hugged each other.
Kelly looked around. „Where´s Donna?"
„She´s gone again." David shrugged.
Kelly looked at him disappointed. „I just wanted to remind you that we´re going to Palm Springs for the long weekend."
„I know. Dylan had called the other night beccause he wanted to take the boys to a basketball game and he mentioned that they were going to their house in Palm Springs. Not a bad idea. We hadn´t looked a tour house there since the summer."
Kelly smiled. „Are you all right?" her hand rested on his shoulder.
„Yes, I´m fine. Would you like to come inside? Ruby will be happy."
„Sure." Kelly walked into the house and Ruby approached her.
„Aunt Kelly. We´re going away soon." She hugged her aunt.
„Yes, that will be nice. Sammy and Nath are looking forward to it too."
„Erin asks if she can come too?"
„Sure, why not. This will be a great family outing."
„Dad, I really need new clothes. Sheila gets two new bathing suits. I need some too."
Kelly smiled. Luckily she didn´t have these problems. With two boys, she didn´t have these worries.
„I see you still have a lot to do. I won´t bother you any longer." Kelly kissed Ruby and David goodbye and then drove home.
Silver and Brandon were sitting in the livingroom already waiting for her.
„Silver, what gives us the honor?"
„Hi Kelly. Can´t even visit my big sister?" Silver hugged Kelly warmly.
Kelly gave Brandon a welcome kiss.
„And that doesn´t happen to have anything to do with our going to Palm Springs?" Kelly cocked her head.
„Oh, speaking of that…"
„Is okay. David already told me. I assume you´ll sleep with in Silver´s house?"
„Yes, in the famous Silver house."
„Don´t say that in a derogatory way. After all, it was the house where we as a group spent a weekend together for the first time."
„Yes, unfortunately without me." Brandon scratched his head.
„Where have you been?" Silver was a little confused.
„I had to help out Nat in the Peach Pit. Unfortunately I didn´t get a day off."
„Poor Brandon." Silver stroked his hair pitifully.
„It will be all the nicer this time."
„Especially since I won´t be coming alone." Silver looked shyly at Kelly.
„What do you mean by that?" Kelly´s face lit up.
„I met someone and I want to introduce you to them."
„Do we know him?" Brandon grinned at his sister-in-law.
„No." Silver beamed.
„How long have you known him?"
„Not yet that long. But it´s serious. I know it. I feel it."
„Did you already know him at the barbecue?" Kelly became curios.
„Yes."
„Why didn´t you bring him with you?"
Silver shrugged.
„I´m so happy. Then our youngest is now gone from the single market."
„So when are we meeting in Palm Springs?" Silver was getting restless.
„Around noon." Brandon replied.
„Okay. Then I´ll start packing my suitcase." Silver said goodbye and went to her car.
She dialed a number on her phone.
„Hi sweetie." A voice answered. Silver blushed.
„Everything worked out. We can come with them."
„And you are quite sure?" asked the voice.
„I´ve never been so sure in my life." Silver closed her eyes.
There was a second of silence.
„Are you coming by?" The voice asked again.
„Yes, I´m on my way."
„Okay. See you soon, sweetie."
Silver kissed the phone and started her engine. She couldn´t wait to show her true love to everyone.
Yes, David had slept with Valerie…And Valerie wanted to go to Palm Springs too…At which time Kelly find out that between both? Oh, Silver is in love. But with whom? A few questions…please Review
