First, a big thank you for every response of this story. I´m so happy you read and seems like it. Well, I got the idea of Erica and Erin already after Brandon. Erica was so unhappily in love with Brandon…I want to make her happy. And because in an other fanfics Erica is still single I wanted to change this. And because Erin is Kellys sister I had the idea to make them to a couple. So, Kelly know about David and Valerie. And she is shocked. Donnas is her best friend and David her brother. But were there other reasons too? Here is the last part of Palm Springs.
Chapter 20 Palm Springs Weekend Part 3
The breakfast was interesting. Brandon read a magazine while Brenda and Kelly walked around the kitchen in silence. The children were already there. Brandon put down the magazine and looked up as Valerie walked in.
„Good morning." She was practically singing, grinning and looking at the three of them. She took a piece of toast and brushed it with a grin.
„Morning." Said the three back.
Kelly had to control herself to not rip off Valerie´s head.
Valerie acted completely innocent. „What´s the plan for later? Shall we go to David again?"
„They offer a spa at the Desert Mirage today. Do you want to come along?" Brenda smiled at her.
„Sure, of course. And what are the men doing?"
Brandon grabbed the mug and poured himself some. „The men are taking a tour of Joshua Tree. We´ll be gone all day." He leaned over to Valerie with a smile and grabbed another piece of toast she had prepared for herself. He bit off roughly and winked. He also winked at his son.
„Heeey." She said with a touch of humor.
Kelly shook his head and took a deep breath. What the hell was going on?
Brenda brought scrambled eggs and bacon to the table. Valerie behind her with the toast. They all sat down and started to eat.
„Did you have a good time last night?" Kelly asked.
„Yeah. Movie night was great. I got in the hot tub afterwards. It´s amazing." Said Valerie impressed.
Kelly knew Valerie was lying. She hadn´t been in the hot tub. She had had sex with David. A married man.
Kelly thought about asking Valerie about it.
At that moment, Dylan came into the kitchen. He kissed Brenda and then served himself breakfast.
„Shall we leave in an hour? Then the ladies have enough time to pack their things."
„We don´t need that many clothes. Just a towel." Brenda smiled sweetly at him.
Dylan grinned and took a sip of coffee.
„Would Erica and Silver want to come too?" Brenda looked at him.
„It seems she still sleep."
„I´ll ask her." Brenda put down her plate and went upstairs to Erica´s bedroom.
Kelly sipped her tea and kept looking at Valerie. Did she just want to have fun with David? Was she the reason for the marital crisis? How long has it been between the two of you?"
Brenda came back into the kitchen and ate breakfast. Erica joined them. „A spa? I´m in." She said enthusiastically and poured herself a sip of coffee.
„Then we can put cucumbers on our faces." Toni snorted.
„Anyway, we´ll feel like new afterward." Brenda gushed over her daughter.
The women finished their breakfast and got ready.
At the hotel, while Valerie was waiting for the massage, Kelly used the opportunity. She and Valerie were alone.
„Since when Valerie?"
„Since when what?" Valerie asked as she looked at her.
„I know from last night." She wispered softly.
Valerie looked at Kelly.
„You know what exactly?"
„I know you and David shagged last night." She whispered still, angry.
Valerie was startled. Kelly expected every reaction from her.
„Yes, David was with me. We slept together." Valerie looked directly at Kelly. „Believe me or not, it wasn´t just sex. I love David."
„Come on Valerie. I know how you are. You take any guy you can get. You haven´t changed."
„Well Kelly. Something always connected us, didn´t it." Valerie raised her eyebrow.
Kelly looked at her without a word.
„Look at you Kelly. You have changed. Me too."
„David is married."
„I know. And when are you going to talk to him about it?"
„Let that be my concern." Kelly turned on her heel and left.
Yes, she wanted to talk to David, but when? The men would be out all day today.
David had offered to host a big pizza dinner at his place that evening. The kids loved it. Just not Donna.
All day at the spa she whined that she actually had to go back to her work. The shop means a lot of work. She had agreed to two days in Palm Springs. But now they were already on the third day. Brenda and the girls didn´t care. Together with her daughters and Valerie, she enjoyed mud baths, cucumber masks and massages. Kelly fought for composure. She hadn´t told Brenda about her discovery yet.
Kelly just noticed that her friend had changed a lot. She always thought Donna cared a lot about her family. But even today, Donna paid less attention to her daughter. She seemed more interested in her phone. Ruby seemed to already know that. She hardly spoke to her mother. She was also very independent for her age. At lunch in the hotel restaurant, Brenda and Kelly asked if they could help her, but Ruby declined. Donna refused lunch. She had a few more calls to make.
„Is it always like that with your mom?" Sheila wanted to know.
„Yeah, she´s busy." Ruby shrugged.
They ate their steamed fish with vegetables in silence. For dessert there was a delicious watermelon.
Brenda and Kelly exchanged a meaningful look. Her eyes fell on Valerie again.
After a relaxing hot shower to end her feelgood day, Kelly´s phone vibrated.
„Ah, the boys are on their way home."
„And they took great photos." Brenda clicked through her photo gallery.
„Then let´s go home." Valerie gave a relaxed grin. She was looking forward to seeing David again.
She seemed to be the only one then. For as soon as they got to the Silver house, the women heard Donna and David arguing. When the men got the last drinks out of the car, they also noticed the argument. Donna was like a fury.
„I don´t care what you do. You haven´t spoken to me before."
„Donna, it´s our friends, we have the weekend."
„I can´t afford a weekend. I have a business, I have a real job unlike you."
„I have a real job."
„Tell some nonsense on the radio. Great job."
„Donna, it´s enough." David lost his patience.
„I´ve had enough with you. You´re good for nothing. You´re a loser Silver. You are a total failure."
There was silence.
Kelly looked at Ruby. The little girl looked at her.
„It´s like that almost all the time with us."
The men and the children looked at each other. Valerie and Brenda exchange a look.
„You know what, Donna? It is enough for me. I´m so sick of this life with you. I´ll grab Ruby and then we´re gone."
David came out of the living room and saw the frightened faces oft he families. His eyes fell on Ruby.
„So folks, it´s out. Donna and I had marital problems and they´re over now. Now you all know too." David went to Ruby and took her in his arms. „Would you like to come with me or would you like to stay with Mommy?"
„Daddy, I want to stay with you." Ruby wrapped her small arms around her father´s neck and snuggled up to him.
David looked at Brandon and Dylan. „Could we do this evening at your place?"
„Y-yes. No problem." Brandon stuttered. He looked at Dylan. The two had to process the argument first.
They quickly threw all the groceries into the cars and drove to the Walsh/McKay mansion.
The children were still very confused. Sheila and Nath asked their parents what happened to Donna and David. Dylan and Brandon took the kids aside.
„Are aunt Donna and uncle David going to separate?" Nath looked sadly at his father.
„Yes."
„Why?"
„Aunt Donna and uncle David don´t get along anymore."
„Yes, seems so. They argued a lot. Ruby said they always fight like that."
„It´s sad, I know. But sometimes it´s better if you break up if you don´t get along anymore."
Nath just nodded.
The same conversation took place between Sheila and Dylan just a few metres away.
Sheila looked at her dad sadly. „Are you and Mom going to break up too?"
„No honey." Dylan took his youngest daughter in his arms. „You, your siblings and Mommy are everything in my life to me. I would never leave Mommy."
„Do you promise?"
„I promise it. I love you so much."
Brenda came over to them, put her hand on Dylan´s shoulder and Dylan took her hand.
„Then give Mommy a kiss." Sheila demanded.
Dylan smiled mischievously, pulled Brenda down and kissed her warmly. Sheila was satisfied.
The rest of the evening passed quietly in the house. David lovingly cared for Ruby. Since Valerie wanted to be considerate, she stayed in the background the whole time. When Ruby was back in the pool with the other kids after dinner, Kelly took the opportunity and took David into the living room.
„Well Kelly, now you know about everything." David fell into the house with the door.
„David, why didn´t you tell me about it right away? Why did you act like everything was fine?"
„Because I was ashamed. I let Donna boss me around and I don´t fight back."
„Well, you seem to have resisted from time to time. Ruby said you guys fight all the time."
„Yes. You have no idea what that was like. When Donna came home at night and everything wasn´t what she wanted. How many times I blamed her not to treat me like that. But she was never interested in that."
„And then came Valerie." Kelly finished.
David looked at her. „I know about you and Valerie. I saw and heard you last night."
„I know you don´t like Valeri, but believe it or not, I love Valerie. She made me feel like I could feel again. She accepts me as I am.
„How long has this been going on with you?"
„Sinc the CU anniversary."
„Was it she who was with you when Jackie and I were with you?"
„Yes, she was. She always came to me in the morning. We had Sex and then I got food for us and we talked a lot. It was a glorious time."
„Are you going to tell Donny about this?" Kelly looked straight at him.
„What does that matter? We´re going to get a divorce." David flopped down on the sofa.
„David, you were unfaithful to her. No matter what your marriage was like, she have a right to the truth."
„And what´s the point?"
„You are honest. And that will do you a lot with Ruby too."
David ran his fingers through his short hair. He got up and paced the living room.
„And when should I tell her?"
„As quickly as possible. You´ll feel a lot better afterwards."
David breathed in and out. „Can you drive me?"
Kelly nodded, got her car keys and walked to the front door. David followed her in silence.
They reached Donna in the kitchen. She was obviously enjoying her rest in the house. When she saw Kelly and David she reacted very casually.
„No worries. I´ll get out of your house." She drank a cocktail. „As soon as you gave me a check." She cocked her head.
„Why? That´s my grandparents house. You have no claim."
„Well, I had to put up with you here. Take it as compensation."
„I´d have go get that sooner." David got angry.
Kelly took his arm and tried to calm him down. David should do this.
„Donna, I´m here to tell you something?"
„And what?"
„I´ve had a relationship with Valerie since the CU anniversary."
„I thought so." Donna laughed sarcastically. „You´ve always wanted something from her." Donna draind her glass and put it on the table.
„You know what David? Keep your little money, you will need it. I just want to leave. Away from you. You are such a loser."
„And what about Ruby?"
„She wanted to see you. Then keep them too. Valerie will definitely make a great stepmom." She got very close to David. „I´ll pull my key in the letter box." Then she went uptstairs and slammed the bedroom door with full force.
„Come David. Leave her packing alone." Kelly pulled him slightly with her.
Kelly would never have thought that her best friend would turn into such a monster. She was so disappointed in her. Especially that she calls David a failure in front of her eyes. And David was anything but a failure. She considered talking to Donna again. Maybe she could learn more from Donna.
David shrugged. „I´ll wait in the car." And left the house.
Kelly took a breath and went up the stairs. She knocked on the door.
„Donna, can I come in?"
„Why?"
„Because I wanted to talk to you alone again." Kelly closed the door.
„You heard everything. I´m a selfish career woman and I´ve neglected my family."
„Donna, that´s not you."
„Did you think David was cheating on me?" She looked at Kelly. „But who am I telling this to. Cheating on a partner obviously runs in the family."
„Donna, it´s about time."
„You know what´s enough for me? I used to be the one who was submissive. When we were in Highschool, when you pinned Dylan Brenda, I always stood by you. Or when yo treated me like a dog when we lived together in the beach appartment. Or when you´ve been badmouthing all my boyfriends. You had someting to complain about in everything. Also that I´ve remaindes a virgin for so long. I was always just little, stupid, naive Donna. And now I´m more confident and have a better career than you and I make more than you do. I have a life of luxury and you don´t."
„I have a great life." Kelly look shocked at Donna.
„Yes, just because you have Brandon. You´re nothing without Brandon. Nobody else wants you."
„You know what Donna? Money and luxury is not everything . Maybe you´ll find that out someday too." Angry, Kelly stood up. „And what is with Ruby? Your own daughter? You wanted to gave her up?"
„I never wanted a children. David wanted. Shall she stand by him. I´ve no time for a child."
„Then enjoy your life in luxury. We´re done with each other." Kelly wanted go away.
„Oh, I´m going to enjoy my life. Independent of everyone. Have fun with your boring life. She called after Kelly.
Kelly slammed the door.
Still angry she jumped into her car where David was waiting for her without a word.
They looked at each other, nodded and drove home still without a word.
In front of the Walsh/McKay house, Kelly hugged her brother.
„What was that for?"
„For loving you, little brother."
„I love you too big sister."
They hugged each other tightly again and went back inside.
Immediately Valerie came running. „David, Kelly, where have you been?"
„We had a clarifying talk with Donna." David explained.
Valerie looked at him and Kelly alternately. Kelly said nothing more. And David did what was long overdue. He pulled Valerie into his arms and kissed her. Then Ruby came running too.
„Daddy, daddy." She jumped onto David´s arm.
„Hi Honey."
„Look what Val showed me." Ruby showed her a heart drawn on her upper arm.
„Looks great." David smiled. „Come on. Let´s go to the others." David took Valerie´s and Ruby´s hand and the three of them walked out.
It was past midnight. But David could not sleep. Kelly and Silver joined him on the patio. Silver didn´t want to be alone in the house with Donna. That´s why Kelly had brought her into the big house too.
„Was it me Kelly? Have I ruined my marriage?"
„No David. It wasn´t your fault." Kelly took his hand. „Donna presented herself as the victim. Since she was always suppressed in the past, she wanted to supress this time. She threw away your marriage."
David stared into space.
„And what´s next?" Silver asked.
„I will live with Valerie. I love her."
„You must act now what is best for Ruby."
„Yes, I´ll also talk to Valerie about how she envisions our relationship now."
„How did you imagine it? I fit hadn´t come to this quarrel would you have continued life as it was?"
„No, I already told Valerie in Beverly Hills that I would break up with Donna as soon as we got here. Only I had planned it differently."
„And Valerie was okay with that?" Silver asked.
„Yes. And you see Kelly," David turned his view to Kelly, „she never expected me to break up. That was my idea. But she was happy."
„Maybe she´s going to transform after all." Kelly spoke more to herself.
Silver couldn´t still believe what had happened. She had never really liked Donna, but that it would end like this.
„As soon as weg et back to Beverly Hills I will contact a lawyer."
„How did it all actually start?" Silver wanted to know.
„Actually, already after Ruby was born. Donna never wanted children. Her business has always been number one with her. But, I overhead various clients asking her about children. Suddenly she wanted one. But after Ruby it started. She couldn´t submit. I then started seeing me as a nanny for Ruby."
„When did you first cheat on Donna?"
„Ruby was five then. You have to look at it this way, since Ruby was born we haven´t had any sex at all. I held out for a long time."
„And then you fucked everything you could get?" Silver looked now at her brother.
„No. But every now and then I met one."
„David, what happened to Erica anyway?" Kelly looked at him curiously, Silver looked up.
„Yes, it was a mistake. I shouldn´t have hit on her. It was wrong."
„Then maybe it´s time for an apology."
„I will, Kelly."
„We should go to bed slowly." Kelly got up, took David´s hand and, together with Silver, they went into the house.
„And is David feeling better?" Brandon asked when Kelly came in their bedroom.
„Yes, but he blames himself. He doesn´t need it. Donna ruined the marriage. Not him."
„Want David and Ruby to stay with us for a while?" Brandon hugged Kelly.
„Yes, he shouldn´t be alone now."
Brandon kissed Kelly on the top of her head. Then they fell asleep.
The next morning was the day of departure. They all wanted to have a goodbye barbecue and then head back to Beverly Hills.
After breakfast, David drove to his grandparents´ house. Kelly, Brandon and Silver accompanied him.
David looked in the box. Donna´s key was inside. It was quiet in the house. Nothing was devasted or anything like that. Donna was gone. Kelly and Silver went upstairs to the bedroom. No sign of Donna.
„Pack your bags." Kelly instructed David.
When they got back to the mansion, Dylan and Erica were already at the grill. The kids were excited. Ruby sat on Valerie´s lap. When Ruby saw her father she ran to him.
„Daddy, Val lives in New York." Her eyes widenend.
„I know honey." David stroked Ruby´s hair.
„Shall we visit her?"
„Is uncle David moving away?" Sammy and Toni asked.
„We´ll talk about that in peace." David laughed.
„Who want hamburger?" Dylan yelled, diverting attention.
Everyone sat down. Dylan stood at the head of the table.
„Since this is our farewell dinner, I´d like to raise a toast. It was a fabulous weekend. We had a lot of fun and finally two lovers found each other."
David took Valerie´s hand and kissed her tenderly.
„So…" Dylan continued…"let´s raise our glasses…"
„Stopp!" Erica raised her hands.
Dylan looked at her in surprise.
„I also want to announce something."
Dylan looked at Brenda and Brenda smiled smugly.
„Not only David and Val have found each other." She got up, went to Silver and kissed her tenderly.
Everyone looked at the two in astonishment. David and Brandon started to smile. Dylan and Kelly didn´t know what to say.
„Did you know about this?" Dylan looked at Brenda.
„Yes, I saw them yesterday morning." Brenda made a discreet side left to her children.
Dylan knew what Brenda meant.
„How long has this been going on between you two?" Kelly was amazed.
„We got along really well at Steve´s barbecue. Then we started dating. What can we say…we love each other." Erica put her hands on Silver´s shoulders and Silver snuggled into her hands.
„And you all get to call me Erin again." Erin beamed.
„Speaking of barbecue." David coughed. „Erica, I would like to apologize to you for my behavior. It was wrong. I hope you can forgive me?"
Erica smiled at David. „It´s forgiven." They toasted each other.
„Erica and Erin." Brandon toasted them.
„Erica and Erin." David toasted them as well.
„Well brother." Erica wrapped her arms around her brother´s neck. „The McKays are definitely into brunettes."
„That´s right." Dylan kissed Erica on the check first and then kissed Brenda on her lips.
„To finish this toast and bring…" Brandon stood up…"to our amazing family and that all the couples have finally found each other."
David kissed Valerie and Erica kissed Erin.
