Chapter 4

It has been about three weeks since Kion had started therapy with Raffiki, and things were going poorly to put it lightly. Little to no progress had been made on improving Kion's mental state, and it was showing. If anything he was only getting worse. Kiara was also worried about Kion's worsening mental state. Raffiki would would give her a brief run-down of the days events every night to keep her aware of how things were, and every night would be the same as the night before.

"So, hows he doing today?" Kiara asked, fully knowing the answer.

"The same as yesterday I'm afraid princess" The old mandrill responded.

Kiara sighed, knowing that there was nothing she could do. She had tried talking to Kion several times, but it always ended the same way, with him not wanting to talk about it and dismissing her. But that didn't stop her from asking anyway, "Is there anything I can do? I feel so unless."

"I'm afraid not princess, if won't even talk to you about his feelings, there is not much you can do," Raffiki responded with a sigh of his own.

Kiara shook her head as she got up. "Well, keep me updated Raffiki, I'll see you tomorrow night same time."

"I will princess, and if anything major happens I'll come right to you." The old mandrill responded as they got ready to part ways for the night.

Kion was laying in silence, Raffiki had just left a few minutes ago to give his sister the nightly report on his condition. He was miserable, and only feeling worse each day. Every night his mind always wander back to the day of his trial, and how he wished he was just executed. A burden was all he is now, and everyone except Kiara wanted him dead. He wished Kiara had just let him die at the volcano or was executed, he didn't care, he just wished he was dead.

Kion had been watching Raffiki's schedule closely, noting when we would go to inform Kiara on the day. Now that he knew Raffiki would be gone for a while, he finally decided that tonight is the night. He had tried so many times to do this, but Kiara and her Guard were always there to stop him. But this time, he had an opportunity and he wasn't about to pass it up.

With his mind made up. Kion got up and made his way out of the Tree and ran off. Unbeknownst to him however, Ono was perched on the Tree to keep watch while Raffiki was gone for just such an occasion. Ono saw Kion run off into the night, and quickly took off to get Raffiki and Kiara.

Kion kept running until he eventually reached a cliff with a river fifty feet below. He stopped just before the drop-off and thought about everything that happened in his life, all the bad, all the good. But above all, he really thought hard about what he was about to do, and if it was really the right thing. He wanted to be accepted, he wanted to forget the past and move on, but he knew that would never happen. He had been Scar's heir and done too many awful and unspeakable things for a second chance, even if Kiara believed in him, everyone else wanted him dead, so why keep them waiting.

With his mind made up for the final time, Kion got ready to jump and finally put an end to everything. It was better this way, only Kiara would miss him and she'd get over that. As he was about to jump, he heard footsteps running his way and Ono's voice, "He's just up ahead!"

Kion silently cursed himself for taking too long to make up his mind, now he had to run and run fast. He knew if he jump they'd be able to save him, and he didn't want to give them that chance. Quickly, Kion got up and took off towards the woods where he hope he would lose them long enough to end his life.

Kiara was about to go find Tiifu and Zuri as Raffiki got ready to leave when Ono flew in with concern. Kiara instantly knew something was wrong, and that it involved Kion.

"Kiara! Kiara!"

"Ono! Whats going on?" Kiara asked.

"Its Kion, he took off into the night! I don't know where he's going but it doesn't seem good!" Ono replied frantically.

By this point Raffiki was back by Kiara's side and turned to her. "Go, follow Ono, I will get Tiifu and Zuri and send them after you."

Kiara nodded and turned back to Ono. "Lead the way, and hurry."

"Right! This way!" Ono said as he took off in the direction Kion ran off in.

Kiara took off after him and hoped they would find him fast, that uneasy feeling in her gut was only getting stronger and she knew something was really wrong.

Kion kept running until we made it deep into the forest. Taking a second to catch his breath, he began to think what he would do now. Needing to make up his mind fast, we opted for something, anything, he could use to stab himself with. It was gonna be more painful than he would have liked, but pain barley bothered him anymore after all the battles he fought in as Scar's heir.

Looking around for a few seconds, Kion finally found something he could use. Picking up a small rock, he then threw it at one of the large trees shattering it into sharp blade like pieces. As he went to pick up one of the pieces he heard Kiara calling out his name. Knowing she was close he had to be fast, gripping one of the shards in his paw and reminding himself for the final time that it was better this way, he stab the shard into his chest.

Pulling the shard back out he could see the wound was deep by how much blood was on the shard, and by how fast he was feeling light headed. After another few seconds of bleeding out, Kion finally felt consciousness begin to slip away. Finally gravity became too much and he collapsed to the ground, as his world went black his final thought was 'its done' and with that Kion went limp.

Kiara had been following Ono for a bit before she heard him say, "He's just over this hill, by the cliff!"

Kiara nodded as she reached the top of the hill just in time to see Kion take off again this time towards the woods. She instantly knew he had heard Ono's voice from a distance and took off again as a result.

Kiara looked up to Ono and called out, "go get Tiifu and Zuri from Raffiki, I can track Kion from here."

"Affirmative!" Ono nodded before heading back the way he came.

Once Ono took off Kiara took off after her brother, hopping she would catch up to him fast. Once she had his scent she began to track him throw the woods. As she went deeper into the woods his scent got stronger and she knew he was close, so she called out for him, "Kion? Kion?"

After another minute or two of tracking, another smell caught her attention and it was one she was hopping she wouldn't find: Blood. Kiara picked up her pace instantly knowing that Kion could be hurt and need help. Finally in a small clearing she found her brother, and what she saw confirmed her worst fear. There was Kion, laying in a pool of blood.

Kiara was at her brothers side in an instant, praying that he wasn't dead. As she looked over his body to find the injury, she saw the rock shard that had fallen out of his grip. It was coated in blood, and Kiara quickly pieced together what had happened. 'He tried to kill himself again, and almost did.' Kiara quickly shook the thoughts out of her head as she returned to searching for the wound before he really did die.

She quickly found the wound on his chest and began to apply mud and pressure to stop the bleeding. Once she was sure the bleeding had stopped, she held her brother to her chest and waited for Tiifu and Zuri to arrive. As much as she tried, she could keep her composer any longer and quietly shed a few tears over her brother.

"Please be okay Ky, please. I love you, I've always loved you, so please… please don't die on me." Kiara continued to hold her dying brother, and hoped and prayed she wasn't too late.
