Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter. This one will be a bit shorter, but I hope you still enjoy it.
Also, please keep your reviews centered around this story, or at least Zelda in general. Do not ask me to update my other stories. I will do so when I wish.
Let's get to it.
Chapter 3- The Search Begins
Within the Sanctuary in Hyrule Castle, King Rhoam stands in a circle with several of his army's commanders. The Sanctuary is still somewhat ruined from the events of the previous day, so they are unable to have a more formal meeting for their agenda today.
"Has there been any news? Any credible sightings?" the king asks his commanders.
One of the commanders, the one responsible for overseeing Central Hyrule, says, "I have received reports from my men. They reported no sign of the Princess or the knight Link since the defeat of the Calamity Ganon."
The commanders of the eastern regions give the same report, reporting no sign of Zelda or Link. Most of the western commanders give the same report. However, the commander responsible for the Necluda region says, "My soldiers report no firm intelligence on their location, but one soldier did pass on that a refugeee displaced by the Calamity reported seeing two people who resembled the princess and Link near Fort Hateno."
The king reacts immediately. "Send all available soldiers to the Necluda region, and order all civilians in the region to take part in the search. Something has happened, and I want my daughter home!" he orders fiercely.
The commanders all give nods and begin to file out of the Sanctuary, leaving King Rhoam alone. As the king stands in silence within the Sanctuary, his deeper thoughts begin to come to the surface. He had been all ready to tell his daughter he was proud of her for finally unlocking her powers, and bestow honors on Link for his bravery. But now, he is faced with the thought he may never see his daughter again. And he is being forced to begin facing some regrets he didn't even know he had. And his greatest worry is he will never be able to resolve those regrets, and be forced to live with them his whole life.
However, the king tries to shake those thoughts out of his head. He is the king, and he cannot afford to have such doubts and worries.
Right then, an servant comes walking into the Sanctuary. "My lord," the servant greets Rhoam, bowing to him respectfully.
"What is it?" the king asks.
"I just finishing taking stock of my assigned area, and while in the laboratory storage tower, I discovered that the box containing the diminutive Guardian was empty. I searched for it out of curiosity, but found no sign of it in the room or nearby," the servant says.
Now, the king is confused. He had long kept the tiny Guardian in that room so that it would not distract his daughter from her training. And it had stayed there since that day without power, and Zelda no longer asked after it. And Zelda certainly had not come back to the castle. So where had it gone?
The king is feeling very confused and a little frazzled. Nothing seems to make sense to him right now.
As the sun sets across the land of Hyrule, marking the end of the second day since the return and defeat of Ganon, high up on the Great Plateau, outside the Temple of Time, three individuals are gathered. Individuals whose fame is spreading across the land of Hyrule.
Daruk looks up at the sky and says, "Sun's getting low. We may want to think about making camp."
"Perhaps. But if Revali should find something, we should be ready to move on with haste," Mipha says in her gentle voice.
"Mipha is right. Let's just hope that he returns with news," Urbosa adds.
Daruk nods in agreement after a moment. However, after a moment, he says, "But can't we at least think about dinner? I'm starting to get hungry." This draws a few laughs from Urbosa and Mipha.
Right then, Mipha notices something and points up into the sky. "Here he comes," she says. Daruk and Urbosa look up in the direction Mipha is pointing, and see Revali descending towards their position, flying down from the cliff just south of their position. After just a few more seconds, Revali lands gracefully in front of the other three Champions.
"Anything?" Urbosa asks urgently.
"Nothing. I flew over the whole plateau. No sign of either of them," Revali answers.
"And the Shrine of Resurrection?" Urbosa asks.
"I went there last of all. Neither of them were there, and the Sheikah guard said he hadn't seen them either," Revali responds.
The other Champions sigh a bit in frustration. After hearing that Link and Zelda had disappeared following Ganon's defeat, the Champions had decided to try and find the two themselves. Mipha had stopped by Kakariko Village, but with no sign of them, and the others had checked various stables. They had then made their way to the Great Plateau, thinking that perhaps one of them had been wounded and they had gone to the Shrine of Resurrection. The other three Champions had made a quick search of the plateau's lowlands while Revali searched the rest of the plateau, including the Shrine.
Now, it's clear to the Champions that their hypothesis was wrong. Unless the two had hidden themselves somewhere very well, they were not here on the Great Plateau. And prior to coming here, the Champions had admitted amongst themselves that they didn't really have many better ideas of where they could've gone.
The Champions stand in silence for several moments before Revali says, "Maybe they just decided they'd had enough. Maybe we should just leave them to it. They'll come back eventually."
"But this is not like them. Something must be wrong," Mipha insists.
Revali looks unconvinced. After a moment, Urbosa speaks up, speaking very authoritatively as she says, "The two of them were both alive after Ganon's defeat. And we both know that they love their land and have risked everything for its defense. We cannot be expected to believe they would just vanish. No, something is amiss here. And we cannot just abandon our friends when something could be drastically wrong. Especially when we have the best chance of finding them."
Mipha and Daruk both quickly nod in agreement, and everyone then looks at Revali. After a moment, he sighs and nods in agreement. As much as he hates to admit it, he has to agree with Urbosa's points.
Urbosa looks between the other Champions and says, "We are going to search Hyrule. And we will not give up until we find out what has happened to our friends, and either bring them homeā¦or bring their families closure."
The other three Champions, even Revali, nod in agreement. Link and Zelda had given their all for Hyrule. The least they can do for their friends is try their best to find them and bring them home.
And, I'll end the chapter there.
So, next chapter will feature a time jump, and still be showing the search for Zelda and Link. I may get to showing what happened to them in that chapter. Depends on how long it gets.
Also, for those wondering about the little bit about the tiny Guardian, that is Terrako from the game Age of Calamity. I thought, since this timeline shows Ganon being defeated, it might be interesting to show Terrako. And yes, Terrako will show up in this story.
Alright, next chapter will be up soon. Until it is, please leave a review and tell me what you think of the story so far, and stay tuned.
