Chapter 2 (Special thanks to Jokermask18 for the sidekick name.)

The next day, at sunset, Roger was sitting in his room, waiting with his parents.

"Hey, Mom and Dad, when's that surprise guest getting here?" Roger asked.

"She should be here any moment." Roger's Mom said. Then, they heard someone approaching.

Batgirl then stuck her head in the room, "Hi there. Are you Roger?" she asked.

"Batgirl?!" Roger asked as Batgirl walked over.

"That's me. Nice to meet you." Batgirl said as she walked over and shook his hand.

"No way! Batgirl herself! Talking to me!" Roger said.

Batgirl smiled, "I heard you're going to have a procedure done soon and you've been very brave about it." she said.

"Yeah. This procedure is supposed to get rid of this disease I've had for a week." Roger said.

Batgirl smiled, "That's great. Your mom and dad tell me you're scared of it, though." she said.

"Yeah." Roger said.

"Well, it's nothing to be scared of. Best of all, since it's not until tomorrow, your mom and dad have arranged for you to hang out with me to have the best night ever before your operation." Batgirl said.

Roger's eyes widened, "You mean it?!" he asked.

"Sure do. Your mom and dad contacted me personally and even got you cleared to leave the hospital for tonight." Batgirl said.

"Man, could this get any better?" Roger asked.

"Actually, yes." Batgirl said before she got a box and handed it to him. Roger opened it and saw a miniature Batman costume. It was black, but had a blue long-winged bat on the front with a small utility belt.

"Batman had this specially made when I told him I was coming to see you." Batgirl said.

"What is it for?" Roger asked.

"For you. For tonight, you get to be my sidekick." Batgirl said.

Roger's eyes widened, "I get to be your sidekick?!" he asked.

Batgirl smiled, "Yep." she said before she was hugged by Roger.

"This is so awesome! I get to hang out with you and be your sidekick!" Roger said.

Batgirl smiled and hugged him.

"All right. Suit up, Roger. We have a long night ahead." Batgirl said.

Roger got a wide smile before he looked at his mom and dad and said, "This is gonna be the best night ever! You guys are the best!"

Roger's parents smiled before he went to change into the suit. Once he came out, he made a heroic pose.

"Bad guys beware! Batgirl and her sidekick are on the scene!" Roger said.

"Bad guys fear Batwing!" Batgirl said.

"Batwing?" Roger asked.

"Your name." Batgirl said.

"Awesome!" Roger said.

The doctor then brought in a wheelchair so that he could be transported outside. Batgirl took the honor of pushing him.

"See you later, Mom and Dad!" Roger said.

"Have fun, Roger!" Roger's Mom called.

"Be sure you mind her!" Roger's Dad called.

"I can't believe it! I get to work alongside Batgirl!" Roger said as they neared the exit to the hospital.

"I'm happy that you do! I love helping children, especially if they're my fans." Batgirl said as they exited the hospital.

"So, how do we get around?" Roger asked.

"Through that." Batgirl said as she pointed at the Batmobile.

"No way! I get to ride in the Batmobile!" Roger said as Batgirl wheeled him over.

"Your chariot awaits, young man." Batgirl said as she helped him out of the wheelchair and into the Batmobile after making sure he was okay to walk. Roger got into the seat and checked out the various instruments.

"Wow! How did Batman get this?" he asked.

"Believe it or not, he built it." Batgirl said as she got in the driver's seat..

Roger then looked outside at the city as Batgirl backed the Batmobile up and stared ahead with a determined expression as Batgirl drove out of the hospital parking lot.
