Chapter 3

The Batmobile raced along the streets of Gotham. Roger looked out the window and marveled at how fast the Batmobile was going.

"Wow! This thing goes fast!" Batwing said.

"Yeah, thanks to that jet booster. So, Roger, here's the lowdown on being my sidekick. You can help me fight crooks, but you have to do exactly what I say. If one has a weapon, stay in the Batmobile and I'll talk you through the rest. Otherwise, use these." Batgirl said as she handed him a baseball bat, a Grapple Gun, and a few Batarangs.

"Why a baseball bat?" Batwing asked.

"To hit the crooks with." Batgirl answered. As if on cue, they heard screaming and looked outside. A man in robber clothes was running away from a woman.

"He stole my purse! Help!" the woman shouted.

"All right. Here we go!" Batgirl said as she got out of the car, with Batwing following her. They got in the crook's way, forcing him to stop.

"Batgirl?! Who's the kid?" the robber asked.

"The name's Batwing. I'm her sidekick." Batwing said, though his legs were shaking.

"Man, you brought a kid to work? That's a laugh!" the crook said before he started laughing, not seeing Batwing ready the baseball bat. He then whacked him in the knee, causing him to drop the purse he had stolen and fall to the ground, clutching his knee while whining.

Batwing's eyes then widened, "Did I really just do that?!" he asked before he heard Batgirl clapping.

"Yay! Way to go, little guy!" Batgirl said.

"Did I do good?" Batwing asked.

"Very good!" Batgirl said.

Batwing smiled before he found the woman's purse while Batgirl tied up the robber.

"Here you are, ma'am." Batwing said, giving the purse back to the woman.

"Thank you very much, young man." the woman said.

Batgirl and Batwing then headed back to the Batmobile and drove off.

"That was so awesome! I actually helped you stop a crime!" Batwing said.

"You were very brave! You took advantage of the crook's arrogance and caught him off-guard. That is just how we roll!" Batgirl said.

Batwing smiled, happy that his hero was pleased with him.
