Syrus woke up in a cold sweat, spiking up in shock as he breathed heavily. He looked around; The quiet dormroom barely lit as he can see the sky began to shuft from the ink black to a mixture of greens, blue and yellow. The sun is beginning to rise.

He looked up to see Hassleberry asleep, then to Jaden below him on the bunk bed. He sighs in relief. Just a nightmare.

Syrus lays back down, trying to relax. He closed his eyes, only for them to snap open when images of his nightmare flashed in his mind. The burned flesh; The wails of anguish. The searing pain...

The Yellow Ra duelist got up again, though more slow than before. Well, there's sleep ruined again...

Might as well start the day..

Jesse was taking another walk, looking onto the ground with a saddened look while Ruby Carbunkle mewed in concern.

"I know, bud. It's just, unbelievable.. That guy had his whole arm burnt up." He muttered, before leaning against a tree. He never seen anyone get that hurt before..

"Man, duels here are wild.." He sighed. "They ain't like back at Austrailia."

Just then, a butterfly fluttered to his nose, resting there a bit. Jesse's eyes widen at the black, blue and green colors of the wings that glistened in the sunlight, before smiling.

"Man, look at that! A Queen Alexandria's Birdwing!" Ruby stared in awe, as it then fluttered away. "Heheh, It probably wanted to cheer me up!" He chuckled, before walking to Duel Academy. "But, she got a point, Ruby! We gotta keep our heads up high, no matter what!"

When he walked through the halls, he glanced around at the few students here who were going about their day. He sometimes catches someone from The Society of Light keeping their eyes on him, which he immediately walks away. He can definitely sense the concern about them rise, even with the Duel Spirits.

'Rainbow Dragon sure wasn't kidding..' Jesse thought to himself. 'They're everywhere!'

And it doesn't help that they're trying to wipe out all the Obelisk blues. The Blue Dorm (or White Dorm now) may be claimed but, there's still some Obelisks fighting to keep what little space they have. He heard that Zane guy was one of them who had gone against them to keep his room. There are other students who decided to take refuge in the other dorms, not willing to risk losing and becoming a part of the Society of Light.

He's actually been staying at the Ra Yellow Dorm, trying to distance himself from the cult. He rather not get brainwashed or be at risk for it.

Hearing the Duelists voice their concerns didn't ease his worries either. It seems that more and more students were being indoctrinated. Even the duel spirits were getting worried. And of course, both parties were talking about what happened the day before.

It's almost unbelievable.. Jesse heard a duel monster speak. Do you think.. That it's because one of them is a Psychic Duelist..?

Jesse stopped in his tracks. Whoa, what? He looked to the two duelist walking to class while engaging in conversation. Of course, the duel spirits talking were following them, as they belonged to the two. Thus, he looked around and began to follow them.

Okay, that's just ridiculous. Another duel spirit talked. Psychic Duelists are just rumors, after all. Also, this would've been happening earlier.

But, you saw his arm.. It was completely scorched! We shouldn't be able to do that.. The other whispered. I'm telling you, someone is causing this. And I have a hunch on who..

Who, then?

That guy with the black coat and blue hair, of course! He was the one who issued that attack, after all!

Jesse's eyes narrowed in thought, processing the information. Zane being a Psychic Duelist? But, wouldn't it had happened earlier? Or is there something else at play? He doesn't know this Zane guy all that well. Honestly, he's surprised to hear that he was the top duelist here and was known to be similar to the calm ocean, considering how he's acting now.

Jesse can't necessarily wrap his head around it, as Ruby Carbunkle mewed.

"What do ya think, Ruby?" He asked. Ruby tilts his head, which makes Jesse sigh. "Yeah, I'm as lost as you are." He mumbled as he continued to follow them.

Okay.. But what if the Psychic Duelist wasn't even dueling?

Well... Maybe, they have a radius?

A radius?? Can they even do that??

I don't know!

Jesse hummed in thought, but immediately stopped following the students when they grew suspicious of him. Ah, yikes. He must look pretty creepy.

He catches some more rumors from other students.

"Man, it feels like people have been ending up in the infirmary lately.."

"Tell me about it.. First, the blue shrimp, then the guy who fought Zane.. Now, it's some brown haired slifer!"

The Obelisk Blue duelist felt his spine chill as he looked at the students walking away. It's not Jaden, it could be anyone.

It could be anyone.

Yet, he began to run to the infirmary.

Jesse ran to the infirmary as his ears caught the muffled voices of Hassleberry and Syrus. Oh no!! His legs picked up before opening the door.

"Jaden?! What happened?!" He asked, worry spiking up more as he saw Jaden clutching onto his right shoulder in pain. He looked at the other two. Hassleberry was filled with the urge to protect and was deeply worried for his friend. Syrus, though.. He looked pale from fright. He looked shaken up, for sure.

"W-We don't know!" Hassleberry replied with urgency. "Sarge and I were just havin' a duel for fun! But then, he suddenly was in alot of pain so, we ran him to the nurse!"

"When did this happen? Who was there?"

Hassleberry tried to recall. Everything was so fast, he couldn't even pay attention to anyone nearby.

"Hmm... I think Zane passed by."

Zane...

Jesse began to think. It could be a coincidence. But...

"H-Hey! Don't sweat it, Jess!"

After some thought, he looked at Jaden. The brunette tried to give Jesse a reassuring smile, but it was like moving his shoulder even slightly caused immense pain. He hissed as he clenched onto his shoulder while Ms. Fontaine was trying to look at it.

Seeing his friend like this solidified Jesse's decision. "I'll be back." He said, walking away as the other three looked at eachother. Jaden silently reassured them to go after him, knowing that he's safe under Ms. Fontaine's care. Thus, they leave to follow Jesse.

"Jesse! Hey, where are you going??" Hassleberry asked, puzzled at his sudden departure.

"I'm gonna challenge Zane."

"WHAT?!" Syrus screeched in shock, before running ahead to block his way. "No!! Jesse, you can't! It's dangerous!!"

"Syrus, I'll be fine."

"Please, listen to me!! I-I've dueled him, I got-!!"

"Hey, don't worry." Syrus didn't expect him to pat his head, looking up with silver eyes full of fear. Jesse smiled softly

"Look, I can just ask him for an old fashioned duel. No tricks, no dangerous stuff. Nothin'."

"Can ya even convince him to do that??" Hassleberry asked, fretting over him. "C'mon Private, we don't want ya getting hurt!"

"Don't worry, I got this." Jesse smiled. "Besides, I've been hearin' some interestin' stuff goin' around about him, and this seems like a good time to confirm the stuff I heard."

"Jesse, please.." Syrus begged quietly, looking at the Obelisk Blue student with glossy eyes. He can feel his face heat up because of his distress, and the thoughts in his mind plauging him. "I.. I Don't want you to fight my brother.. What if you..?"

He couldn't finish his sentence. He coulrjdn't think about what would happen. He can't bear to think of the battle.

Jesse pats his shoulder.

"Hey, c'mon. It'll be okay." He reassured, his voice soft. He looked at Hassleberry, then shifts his gaze back to Syrus. "How about this? You two can come with me, in case things actually get bad."

The Obelisk Blue duelist blinked, expecting the smaller duelist to look more relieved but, it was the opposite. Before Syrus can say anything, Hassleberry spoke up.

"Of course, Private!" He nods eagerly. "We can make sure ya don't get hurt! Zane tries anythin', He won't get a chance!"

"Y-Yeah.. We got your back." Syrus held a strained smile.

Jesse nods, feeling a tinge of uneasiness. He can hear Ruby Carbunkle giving concern at this situation. Jesse looks at Ruby.

'Yeah, bud. I know' He thought to him. 'But, this is a good chance to confirm those rumors.'

Thus, the three go to find Zane.

And challenge the Duelist from Hell.
