No POV:

Fred and Barney walk together towards the mini golf course- the afternoon sun shining down on them.

"What a good day, eh Barney?" Fred looks at his friend

"No-"

Barney replies, turning Fred's smile into a nervous frown

"It's a great day.." He adds

"See! How'd ya like it when I teased like that?"

...

...

"Oh Barney... I said I'd stop- heh-heh."

...

"You better... or else I'll have to hold ya back-"

"I know you'll miss my attention, Fred."

Barney jabs Fred with his elbow in a joking manner

"More than that, Barn... more than that.."

He stops to hug him

"...and don't you worry..."

then he pauses to think and then looks to his right, at Barney

"-sayyyyy, you sure you don't wanna get hitched...?"

Fred asks

Barney grins

"I've got a wife and I love 'er- ...but you're my secret treasure-"

"or should I say... fiancé?"

He chuckles

"Just between us... okay, Barney?"

Fred smiles and waits a minute before adding:

"Now I got two people to call my sweethearts.."

How will they manage to keep it a secret?

After their heartwarming discussion, the two of them play a few rounds of mini golf. Laughing and carrying on before being kicked out for being too goofy on the green.

Neither of them knew that was a rule to break- nor did they have any regrets.

After gathering themselves and finding the strength to stop wheezing in intense laughter- the inseparable buddies move on to a food booth and order a platter of brontosaurus meat and assorted cheeses.

Alongside the platter, each has a milkshake with a silly straw.

As they enjoy their meal, they sit adjacent on each side of the table- spending the whole hour just admiring each other.

"Where do you wanna go after this?" Fred asks Barney.

"Hmmm... why don't we head out to the city limits and just hang out in the car?"

"It's simple, but one helluva romantic way to spend an evening." Barney suggests.

"That's not a bad idea- nobody will bother us... Just you, me, and the stars."

Fred tells him.

"We've got a plan."

Fred and Barney finish up their food and walk to the carnival's exit.

When they reach the parking lot, the security lights switch on- as it's getting closer to dusk.

The dim lights bring a calm aura to the guys.

Once they reach the car, they climb in and Barney fixes his windblown hair- combing it back with his fingers.

Fred appreciates Barney's attention to detail and how well he takes care of himself.

"Why would someone as pretty as him want someone as filthy as I am?" He ponders as he starts to drive.

"H-hey Barney?" Fred asks, nervously

"Yes, Fred?" He's quick to reply

Before getting the guts to speak his mind, Fred swallows hard.

"I've never seen a guy as beautiful as you."

"I bet it sounds pretty stupid comin' from me- 'specially since you've known me so long- but I knew I should tell you."

Barney looks at him, flattered by such a blunt compliment

"You really mean that? He asks while turning warm on the inside.

"You know me, Barn."

"...I wouldn't say somethin' like that if I didn't mean it."

Fred reaches for his hand like before, Barney grasps it tightly and continues to hold his hand while Fred drives.

"True... very true..."

"...and 'tanks, Fred."

His dimples show as he smiles happily.

"Love ya."

Fred squeezes his hand tighter

"I love you too. Heh-heh"

...

...

Driving through town, the streetlights cut into through the darkness of the car's cab with every pass. Barney looks down at their interlocking fingers- gently rubbing Fred's with his thumb.

Fred searches for something to say, but is at a loss. He remains caught up in the fact that he's even achieved this type of relationship with Barney.

"Eh... uhh- ...I..." He tries to speak.

"I... packed some snacks for us this morning before we left... y'know, in case we get hungry."

He finally finds an excuse to break the silence.

"That's real nice of you, Fred." Barney replies, still softly stroking Fred's thumb with his, a subtle way of comforting him.

"We forgot to show those photos to Kev-"

Fred remembers

"Oh- dang it..."

"Don't worry, we still can."

"Why don't we stop back at the park on the way home, then we show him?"

Barney suggests, responding to the guilt being conveyed through Fred's voice.

"Good idea. Maybe we can get his number- ya never know, it's possible we just made a new friend."

"...plus, he already knows we're a... couple... and it might feel good to be open with at least someone about... us."

"You're right, Fred. Let's give it a shot."

In the distance, the city limit sign comes into view. He stops the car in a parking area at the side of the road.

"Here we are."

"Now we have someplace where we can just sit, talk, and enjoy each other's company." Fred says, softly and kindly.

Without saying a thing, Barney scoots closer and wraps his arms around Fred.

Pulling him into a nice, tight hug.

"Heh-heh-heh." Fred chuckles cutely.

The evening air is filled with the chirps of crickets and the howls of doggosauruses coming from nearby suburbs.

Barney's head rests on Fred's shoulder as it did when they watched TV.

He nuzzles his face against Fred's and moves his arm to rest on his belly.

-Not to mention it's peaceful. The stars shine down- only being overpowered occasionally by the lights from passing cars.

...

Fred gently kisses Barney on the forehead, bringing him to bite Fred's neck and press his warm lips against his skin.

A shiver goes down his spine as he feels the warmth of Barney's kisses- he then slumps down in the seat to match his height.

Becoming almost routine, Barney carefully climbs onto Fred's lap and faces him. They lovingly rub noses and meet in a long, slow kiss.

Heat rises between their chests- so close together. Barney's fingers grip Fred's broad shoulders whereas Fred's hands rest on Barney's hips

"W-what do you want, Barney..?" Fred stammers, feeling anxious from the way his friend's shapely bottom is pressed into his lap.

Moving to Fred's ear, Barney whispers ever so softly

"Everything..."
