I do not own anything regarding Harry Potter, or anything to do with the Addams Family
Hello Guys, Badger here. It's time. The moment, I'm sure, everyone has been waiting for. The Honour Duel between Harry and Malfoy. I've said it twice already in other stories and I'll say it a third time, I'm sorry it's been a while. I finished my Foundation Year at Uni but failed one out of my six modules. I don't know if this means I fail Foundation Year entirely or if I'll still move onto First Year. Because of the stress the fear has been bringing me, I lost motivation to do anything for quite a while but recently, I've gotten just enough motivation to start writing again. I still don't know if I have passed Foundation Year or not. All I can do is wait for the Uni's verdict.
Anyway. I'm sorry if anything in this chapter is iffy. I was incredibly tired when writing the last third of this chapter and when I'm tired my brain goes all mushy and started acting weird, which may have affected my writing, but I'll let you be the judge of that. Anyway, I'll leave you to it. I hope you enjoy and I will see you at the end.
Chapter 6
The Honour Duel Between House Potter and House Malfoy Of 1996
It was nearing midnight and Harry was getting ready, for his duel against Malfoy. Harry had done some research on what an Honour Duel was. According to records he found in a few books in the Manor Library, an Honour Duel was an ancient duel between to Houses, specifically done by the Lords of the Family. Should the Lord of one family do something to disgrace another family, the two Lords of the Family would engage in a duel, to settle the feud, with both Lords hoping to regain their honour. The winner of the Honour Duel would also take the defeated Lords title and fortune, by Rite of Conquest. In the books he read, as time went on, and the Wizarding World slowly crawled out of the dark ages, Honour Duels had become seldom used, with Lords using other means to settle bad blood between families.
As Harry finished getting ready, he knew that he was going to have to keep a level head, move fast and hit hard. Harry had gotten into fights before but that, usually, was with friends by his side. In an Honour Duel, a Lord can have no outside help, to do so would see them lose the Honour Duel by default, and their lordship title and fortune will be taken automatically as forfeit. It was that moment when he felt a familiar, large, hand on his shoulder. He looked to see, not only Gomez and Morticia but, the entire Addams family behind them, each one of them dressed up, seemingly waiting to go out.
"Harry, my boy, are you ready to go?" Gomez asked, a cigar ever-present in his mouth
"Just about" Harry let out a calming sigh, before raising his eyebrow at the man "Are you lot going somewhere?"
"Of course, we're going with you!" Fester spoke up, jovially
"You are?" Harry asked "Why?"
"Support darling" Morticia said, soothingly "You didn't think we would let you go alone, without any support did you?"
"I guess not" Harry mumbled, though he was happy that they were coming with him, as he pulled out the Portkey "It should activate any second"
"Will this…Portkey…take all of us?" Grandmama spoke up, eyeing the Portkey, with a hint of disgust, like the object had offended her and her family
"Yes, but only if you are all touching it, when it activates…though, I must warn you, it might be a bit of a bumpy ride" Harry replied, remembering the sickening feeling he felt, during the Quidditch World Cup, when he, Hermione and the Weasleys, used a Portkey to get to the Stadium
The Addams, however, seemed to have a look of glee with that statement, as they all got into a circle, so they could place a finger against the Portkey. As they got into position, Harry felt Wednesdays hand brush against his, as she touched the Portkey but before he could full process the tingles that ran through his body, the Portkey activated and he felt a similar sickening feeling, like he was being squeezed, twisted and sucked through a straw, before they disappeared from the Manor with a pop.
…
Lucius Malfoy stood waiting in a secluded spot in the mountain area behind the decrepit building he had been calling home for the past few days, his wife Narcissa by his side as she wanted to see Potter put down and have everything that was rightfully theirs returned to them. Macnair was also standing by, waiting to act as referee for the Duel. Lucius noted that Macnair seemed massively nervous, as he fidgeted and picked at his nails. If the man was worried about Potter winning the duel, then Macnair had nothing to be nervous about. Potter was a mere child, who new little to nothing about magic. The boy was going to die by his wand and Voldemort was sure to reward him for killing the boy who caused the Dark Lord so many headaches for last few years.
As soon as the clock landed on midnight, there was a pop as Potter appeared, with what looked like a band of reject freaks from some kind of circus. Besides Potter, who stumbled slightly, the other freaks were unfazed by the effects of the Portkey. Lucius sneered as he stepped forward, taking off his cloak.
"Potter, you arrived" He said in a mocking tone "I expected you to ignore the summons and run like the cowardly rat The Dark Lord keeps around for one reason or another!"
"I'm not a coward Malfoy, nor am I a coward!" Harry spat in response, the venom in his voice genuinely surprising the Malfoy Patriarch "You stated that ignoring the summons would mean my magic would be forfeit…as well as my lordships and fortunes, according to the books I read in that, rather lovely, library of yours…though, I guess it's mine now"
"Not for long" Malfoy growled, the grip on his cane tightening at Harry's casual mention of taking what was his "Are you ready Potter?"
"Are you?" Harry asked tilting his head, in response
Malfoy growled, once more, in response, as he and Harry moved into position, standing a few dozen feet away from one another, with Narcissa and the Addams Family standing far back enough to not get caught in the cross fire, nor cause interference that could affect the Honour Duel. Watching Lucius and Harry take their stances, Macnair looked to both Lords, ready to announce and officially start the Honour Duel. There was a tense silence lingering in the air, as Harry and Lucius kept their eyes on one another, neither of them blinking, as Macnair spoke up.
"We are here today, to witness an Honour Duel between House Potter, and House Malfoy" He said "A duel to the death, only one Lord comes out alive, and claim the other Lords title and fortune by Rite of Conquest…are you gentlemen ready?"
Macnair received no response from either Harry or Lucius, but he could tell by their eyes that they were. Removing his wand, he pointed it upwards, where Harry's and Lucius' stance tensed slightly, both itching towards their wands, waiting for the signal. Macnair let them linger for a while, in a tense silence, before shooting a red spark into the air, signalling for the Honour Duel to begin.
…
As soon as the signal went up for the Duel to start, Harry immediatley had to jump to one side, to avoid a Killing Curse, Lucius had fired at lightning quick speed. It was clear enough, already, the Malfoy Patriarch was not messing around. Dodging a second Killing Curse, Harry quickly fired a powerful Bone Breaker, something that had, for a brief moment, shocked Lucius, before he blocked the spell with little effort.
"You're going to have to do better then that Potter!" Lucius sneered, before firing an organ liquefying curse, though he was surprised that Potter had used a spell such as a Bone Breaker, as he expected Harry to stick with Stunners and Disarming Charms like he did at the Ministry and in the Graveyard
Harry scowled before firing a Cutting Curse at Lucius, followed by another. One aimed at his wand arm, the other at his neck. Lucius easily avoided the first Cutting Curse, but had to put up a shield, as he wouldn't be able to move out the way in time, without the second Cutting Curse slicing through the right side of his neck. After dropping the shield, Lucius fired a Cruciatus Curse, followed by the Killing Curse. To his annoyance, Harry was able to dodge both. Lucius remembered when Harry became Seeker for Gryffindor. Becoming the youngest Seeker in a century spread like wild fire. And it seemed Harry was putting those Seeker abilities to good use, to dodge and weave around any spells Lucius sent his way.
Tightening the grip on his wand, Lucius fired a Blasting Hex at the ground, below Harry's feet. Harry jumped out of the way, but the force of the explosion sent him flying several feet, with shards of stone piercing and cutting into his skin. The force of the explosion also left Harry dazed. Smirking a cruel smile, Lucius seized the opportunity and fired another Killing Curse.
Harry had heard Lucius fire the Killing Curse, though he was too dazed to see, or do anything. However, at that moment, he felt something tingle through his entire body. Like his senses were heightening. It was a similar feeling to when he sensed Morticia hiding in the shadows. Only, this time, it was much more powerful. It was like every one of his nerves were on fire as, almost like he was on autopilot, Harry felt himself spinning around, where the Killing Curse narrowly avoided him, much to the shock and surprise of the Malfoys and Macnair. Once the world stopped spinning and Harry snapped out of his dazed state, he tightened the grip around the handle of his wand, his knuckles going white. It was clear his spells weren't doing anything to harm Lucius. Whilst he didn't want to, he was going to have to use a few of the dark spells and curses he read in the books he bought from Knockturn. If there was a moment to test them, this would be it.
Not giving Lucius a chance to act, Harry waved his wand in an arc towards the Malfoy Patriarch and yelled:
"Pura Acidum"
Lucius' eyes widened, as he avoided the yellow, acidic spell, which hit a nearby rock, causing the stone to melt away into nothing. At that moment, Lucius felt a shift within the temperature in the air. He knew that spell, having read many dark arts books. To see Harry Potter of all people use such a dark curse, scared him more then the eyes of Voldemort himself. With his bones beginning to shake out of fear, Lucius two Cutting Curses in quick succession, quickly followed by the Cruciatus Curse. Harry easily blocked the first Cutting Curse, before side stepping away from the second, which narrowly avoided his neck. Seeing the Cruciatus Curse heading in his direction, Harry ducked, allowing the Unforgivable to go other his head, gusts of air lashing at his skin.
Seeing the fear on Lucius' eyes, Harry knew he had to end things quickly, before Lucius started to become more vicious in his attacks. He fired a barrage of spells. Cutting Curses. Severing Charms. Eye Gougers. Organ Liquefiers. Anything to keep Lucius back pedalling. It was clear the man was slowly getting weaker, trying to dodge and block every one of his spells. Sensing an opportunity, Harry fired a Blasting Hex, followed by another spell, quickly yelling out:
"Dilacerant Exentera!"
Lucius was able to dodge the Blasting Hex, however by doing so, he found himself jumping in front of the second curse, which his him in the stomach. At first, he felt nothing. For a second, Lucius was confused, thinking whatever the spell was, failed. However, just a second later, he felt sharp pains in his stomach, as well as hearing a sound, like something being ripped apart. He looked down, to see his abdomen slowly opening, as the flesh was ripping open, allowing his intestines to fall from its confines, as blood gushed to the ground like a waterfall. It was at that moment, the world went dark and Lucius knew no more.
…
Harry felt like throwing up, as he watched Narcissa run towards the body of her, now dead husband. Harry had seen death, more then once. But never had he seen someone die so gruesomely. The fact that he was the one to kill Lucius in such a manner made him nauseous. However, Harry couldn't help but feel satisfaction and not just from seeing Lucius Malfoy dead. As Harry used the dark curses, he felt a power he had never felt before. It was new.
And it felt good.
Harry loathed to admit it. But he enjoyed the feeling of power he felt using all those dark spells. It may not of been the same amount of power he felt using the Patronus on hundreds of Dementors in his First Year, but the power was still great. Perhaps he should look more into the Dark Arts…Harry couldn't help but laugh, internally, at that thought. He sounded insane just thinking it. Never did he ever think he'd even consider delving into the Dark Arts. However…he would be lying if he said he wasn't feeling tempted.
"Congratulations, Mr Potter" Macnair said, shaking nervously, after witnessing what just happened "You have won the Honour Duel…by Rite of Conquest, the remainder of the Malfoy Fortune and all its assets, as well as the Malfoy Lordship Title is yours"
With that, Macnair quickly Disapparated, not wanting to spend another moment in Harry's presence. The Death Eater knew the Dark Lord was definitely going to be interested to hear that Potter has seemed to taken an interest in the Dark Arts, if this Honour Duel proved anything.
Harry meanwhile, remained where he was, still trying to process everything that happened. He only snapped from his thoughts, feeling Gomez plant a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see the Addams Family all looking at him with various looks. Gomez looked proud and gleeful about what he had just witnessed. Morticia looked proud and also relieved to see Harry was able to kill Lucius and not the other way around. Uncle Fester and Grandmama had insanely manic smiles on their face, showing how proud they were, not just of Harry winning the Honour Duel, but because of the gruesome way Harry defeated his opponent. Pugsley looked at Harry in shock and awe, seemingly looking at him in a whole new light. Then there was Wednesday. She was giving him a look Harry could not read. He could tell she was impressed, but there was something else, however Harry couldn't tell what it was. He hoped it was good, whatever it was.
"Well done, my son!" Gomez beamed "I just knew you could do it!"
"Indeed, I am proud of you Harry" Morticia said, giving Harry a gentle hug, before softly holding him by the chin, inspecting the multiple cuts scattered against his skin from the shards of stone "We should get back and tend to these minor wounds, before they get infected"
"Yeah…and then, I need to do something else…sending my friends a letter" Harry sighed, knowing he had been putting it off for too long "But how are we getting back, I don't have another Portkey"
"Don't worry, I've taken care of that" Grandmama smiled a toothy grin, as she held up a pouch of some kind
…
Narcissa didn't look up when Harry and his strange friends disappeared in clouds of black and green smoke. She remained knelt by the body of her husband, not caring that his blood was soaking her dress. She was too afraid about what the future had in store for her and Draco now. By Rite of Conquest Harry Potter was now Lord Malfoy and owned everything the Malfoy Family possessed. She and Draco now, as consequence of Lucius' loss of the Honour Duel, were left with nothing. As soon as she told Draco about this, she knew he would immediately go to the Dark Lord, in hopes of getting his revenge on Potter. She however, didn't know what to do next. She had expected Lucius to win the Honour Duel. Not once, did the thought of Lucius possibly losing cross her mind. Now, she was nameless, homeless and penniless.
What was she going to do now?
…
Across the country, Dumbledore sat opposite Remus Lupin, in hopes that there was news of Harry's whereabouts. It had been a few days since Harry's disappearance and the Order had been hectic with their search for their saviour. Grimmauld Place wasn't any better, with the occupants more then eager for Harry to be found. No one was able to relax. Not even for a second.
"Tell me, Remus, is there any news regarding where Harry could be?" Dumbledore asked
"No and trust me, we've been looking" Remus replied, with a frustrated sigh "As Harry can't Apparate, he couldn't have gone far from his relatives house…me and several Aurors searched every nearby town, village and city and we couldn't find him…Nymphadora had kept a lookout in Diagon Alley, just in case Harry, for whatever reason, went there but she reported earlier saying she hasn't seen him"
"This is definitely bad news" Dumbledore sighed tiredly, running a hand through his beard "I doubt Harry would just leave, without some place in mind…he must have gone somewhere…do you know if there is some place he would run away too?"
"No, I don't" Remus shook his head, looking back at the few conversations he's had with Harry, where he felt a massive wave of guilt, for not trying to be more involved with Harry's life "However, that isn't the only bit of news you need to know"
"What is it?" Dumbledore asked
"I went to Harry's relatives house, before coming here, in hopes of finding some kind of trail of where he might have gone" Remus said "But the house was empty…and his relatives were gone…as food was left on the table and furniture had been knocked over, I can only assume some kind of struggle happened there sometime recently"
"The Dursleys have been kidnapped?" Dumbledore said, shocked "This is not good, not good at all…it couldn't have been Voldemort…I've kept the location of where Harry's relatives live very discreet…which makes me worried as to who took them…and why"
"You think whoever took them are after Harry?" Remus guessed
"Why else would they take the Dursleys?" Dumbledore asked "Whoever took them must know they are related to Harry and hopes that by taking them, they'll be able to lure him out, as he goes to save them"
"They'll be waiting a long time then" Remus said dryly "Considering the Dursleys hate Harry with a passion…a mutual feeling for Harry too…something tells me Harry wouldn't go to save them, if someone had taken them"
"Even if that is the case, it is still worrying" Dumbledore replied "They obviously know they are related to Harry, as I doubt they would've taken the Dursleys if they weren't…we just need to find out why…and who…if they are trying to lure Harry out in the open, I fear as to who these people might be"
…
New Chapter. Done
Lucius is dead. Who saw that coming? Everyone I'm guessing. I mean...it was pretty obvious Harry was going to win, wasn't it. However, that's not important. What was important, was Harry using Dark Arts to win. This marked the beginning of something interesting. With Harry now tempted to delve more into the Dark Arts, just how far down the rabbit hole will he go down? How much influence will the Dark Arts have over his life going forward? And how will Voldemort react when Macnair tells him Harry had used the Dark Arts in the Honour Duel? Any questions you have, may or may not be answered in future chapters. It depends on what question you had.
There's not really more to say here. If you have a story idea you would like to request or are looking for someone to finish a long abandoned fic, feel free to let me know in my PM's. If I'm interested, I'll do it. I do take story requests. Free of charge. So it's a win-win really isn't it.
That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time.
