Chapter 12
Helga turned around and saw the one woman she didn't want to see. The one woman she had not seen for six years. Her mother, even though she didn't deserve the title, Helga calls her by her name.
"Hello Miriam." Said Helga
Helga turned back around to face the pasta again and make her choice; Miriam stood behind her daughter. Miriam knew her daughter would not give her the time of day, but she kept talking.
"How are you?" said Miriam.
Helga rolled her eyes; she didn't want to talk to her so she kept ignoring her.
"Helga I asked you a question." Said Miriam
Helga made a heavy sigh.
"I am fine Miriam, now leave."
"Helga, please turn around and talk to me; I am still your mother."
Helga turned around and faced her mother.
"Miriam you are not my mother, you are the women who gave to me." Helga looked at her mother with an icy look.
Miriam looked at her youngest and noticed a little bump; she saw her youngest daughter bringing a gift to this world. Miriam wanted to hug her and tell her she will be there though everything but if she did that she will push her daughter away from her.
"I will always be your mother, now you will be a mother." Said Miriam
"At least I will be a better mother to my baby, I will never be dazed, let my baby walk to pre-school by itself, never confused it name and I will make sure to pay attention to her/him. Oh and more thing I will never put the fault on it if Arnold passed." Helga said in a harsh tone.
"I know you will Helga, you are nothing like me and father were. I am sorry for the hell we put you through all your life and especially when your father died. I know his heart attack was all the stress and the unhealthy eating for all those years led to his heart attack, my drinking did not let me think straight but I know that is not an excuse to blame my child. I am sorry for all that and I hope one day you can forgive me." Said Miriam
"Well Miriam I won't get your hopes up, it will be a long time before I can forgive you."
Helga turned back around grab both pasta and walked away. Miriam just stood there, she had tears coming down her face, Miriam for the first time saw how much of her actions cost her youngest so much pain. Miriam cleaned up her faces and called the one person who can help her.
"Hello Dr. Bliss, I need help mending a relationship that is over due…."

Helga came home with the groceries, her mood be sour since she had the run in with Miriam; just remembering she's coming by to drop off school supplies for Olga kids made her mood even worst. She put all of the items away except the ones she is going to use, she decided to make bow tie pasta with red sauce and meatballs. She also makes garlic bread and a creaser salad, for dessert she making a cherry pie with ice cream. She looked at the time she had two hours to make all of this and set the table since Olga will be here at seven tonight. After two hours the table is set and the food almost ready when Olga came in the door.
"Baby Sis! We are home."
"I am in the kitchen Olga." Helga screamed backed
Olga her way to the kitchen and the scent of the food hits her nose it made her mouth water.
"Wow baby sis this smells lovely."
"Thank you Olga, now go and get cleaned up food will be ready in two minutes."
"Okay I will tell the kids and Hank know as well."
After the family washing up, the whole family took a seat at the table while Helga brought out the food and drinks. As Helga was bringing the meatball out, she heard the doorbell ring, she heard Hank saying he will get it. Once Hank came back right behind him was Miriam, Helga didn't even say anything as the kids run up and hug their grandma.
"Mommy, how are you?" said Olga as she run up to hug her mother
"I am fine my dear, I am just here to drop off the kids school supplies for Monday (the kids groans) well I got six note books and a lot of pencils, erasers, sharpener and stickers. If anything missing let me know okay."
"Thank you mommy, I didn't have time to go shopping. Would you like to stay?"
Miriam looked at Helga and saw how Helga face was full of anger and annoyed so she just shake her head no.
"No my dear I don't want to intrude." Said Miriam
"Oh mommy is no big deal; Helga made a food that can last for days, come grab a seat next to Alison." Said Olga
Helga just rolled her eyes at least she was not sitting next or in front of her. The whole dinner it was awkward since they were all quiet, once it was over since Helga cooked, Hank and the kids took dish duty. Helga, Olga and Miriam went to the living room to chat; Helga was in no mood to chat.
"So mommy how your job and therapy going?" asked Olga
"My job is the same, nothing special trying to run a business. Therapy is going well, now we are in the stage of accepting my mistakes in the past." Miriam was looking at Helga who was looking at her nails.
Olga noticed the exchanged, she was hurt since the women's she loves can't communicate but she knows if she pushes Helga at this stage she might blow up. So she had to keep her mouth shut and wait till it's the right time.
"Wow mommy, well I hope it keeps going well. Right Helga?"
Helga didn't say anything; she just got up and went to her room. Olga and Miriam all they could do is look at Helga as she walks out of the living room.
"I am sorry mommy; Helga is not ready to talk to you."
"Its okay sweetie, I know if I was in her shoes I won't talk to me too. I know in time we will be able to talk again." Said Miriam
"Yes mommy, I hope so too."
"Okay my dear, well I am off; have to up by seven, I swear working Sunday is not easy."
"Oh mommy, okay drive safely and call me okay."
"I will night and kiss the kids for me."
"I will"
Olga walked her mom to the door, as Miriam turned to hug Olga she saw Helga room; her door is close. It brought back memories how Helga bedroom door was always closed. She remember she spent all her time there, Bob on the recliner screaming at the TV, and she be sleeping on the counter hung over. As she let go of Olga, she gave her a big smile and walked out the door, as she was walking to her car, Miriam felt her tears coming out and her heart aches. She misses her youngest, she misses coming home seeing her, the memories of Helga being in her teens blasting music so loud. When big Bib died she remembers all the drinking she did as well, Miriam remembers many fights with Helga and telling her how it was her fault that Bob died. Miriam felt so ashamed for her behavior. She misses just having her around and now she notice her baby is becoming a mother; she going to miss the biggest thing that can happened to her baby. As Miriam hop in her car, sit there she realized she need to work even harder to have Helga back. She started her car and drove home.

Arnold came home around eight which is a record, as soon he got inside he took to his couch to catch his breath. The event was stressful, a lot interns showed up and all wanted to talk to him. He notices the females were flirting, making eye contact, laughing at anything he said and just not being serious with this event. When it was time to get started, people we asking question that were irreverent or just plain dumb. When it was time to pick the four intern that will work for the semester, they all had to give a speech of why we had to choose time and what value will they bring. Some were very convincing and some just made you scratch your head. After two hours of deciding they finally choose two males and two females since they most fit the qualifications they are looking for. They took the four interns out for a celebration dinner, after dinner he went straight home. He went to his room to get ready for a shower; once he finished showering he called Gerald to confirm the game tomorrow and the time he picking him up. Arnold lay in bed, watched couple of shows with his eyes closed. Arnold woke up to his phone ringing, he didn't notice it was the next day already when he grab his phone it was Gerald messages saying he is on his way to pick up, Arnold hopped out of bed grab his shorts, t-shirt, sneakers and his bag. Once he made it downstairs Gerald was already here.
"Hey man, what up? You look tired."
"Oh man I am, the event took a lot out of me."
"Damn, you don't have to go to the game, I will tell them you were tired and wanted your rest."
"Nah its fine, either way I won't be resting, after the game Helga picking me up to go shopping for Rhonda baby shower."
"Oh okay, I went yesterday with Pheebs and man when I tell you I am done shopping I am serious. Phoebe and I were at the mall for two hours, all cause Phoebe couldn't decide which thing to get. So after two hours in the store she finally picked two overalls and little booties. And guess how much it cost us?"Said Gerald
"How much?" asked Arnold
"I said guess."
"40 bucks"
"Haha I wish, eighty bucks."
"What! That much oh man that is a lot of money."
"I know and now you are having one, so if I were you start preparing for the expenses. Cause buddy you goanna need it."
"I know Gerald, you don't have to tell me; Helga and I have to talk about it. Well there a lot to talk about. So who is coming to the game today?"
"Yea you guys do. Curly, Harold, Iggy, Sid, Stinky, Peapod, Eugene, you and I. Lorenzo and Brainy can't come they are spending time with their families."
"Okay not bad, plus I think this is Curly last game before the baby comes." Said Gerald
"That is true he is so excited for having boy, what about you? What do you want?" asked Gerald
"To be honest Gerald, I'll be happy if is it a boy or girl as long it's healthy. Speaking of which Tuesday we will found out what we are having, I am so excited." Said Arnold
"Well buddy, that is true you want your baby nice and healthy. I am glad you are going to find out soon. Make sure you give me a call to know what am I having a godson or goddaughter."
"I will."
"Alright we are, let get our game on." Said Gerald.

Helga woke up little pass eleven, she got off the bed and went to the bathroom to wash her face. She turned on the shower since she knows she has to pick up Arnold around one, she grab her towel to take a shower. It was around twelve-thirty when Helga finished taking a shower and put on legging, pink shirt and flats. She needed to head to Lorenzo house soon; she walked out of her room she bumped onto Olga.
"Sorry, Olga but I am little in a rush I have to pick up Arnold and I know for a fact I am going hit traffic." Said Helga
"Oh baby, sis I understand but I want to say I am sorry for last night."
"No it's okay, now I have to go." Helga said coldly.
"Ooh okay, uhm what time you be back?" asked Olga
"I am not sure. Why?"asked Helga
"Oh uhm mom is coming by later to hang out."
"Well what time?"
"At five"
"Well I think I still be out."
"Oh baby sister, please give her a chance she really have change."
"Look Olga, don't push me to talking to someone I don't want any business with. So if I were you stay the HELL out of it, now do you mind I have to go."
Helga walked out the door; she made her way to the car. When Helga got to Lorenzo place she saw all the guys standing around and screaming at each other.
"Dude you cheated?" said Gerald
"How did I cheat?" said Iggy
"You elbow me so that made me lose my balance and lose the ball. In other words you cheated, I demand you take out those two points and we be tie." said Gerald
"Guys! Enough it's just a game." said Sid
"No I agreed with Gerald he cheated we should do a rematch." said Curly
"Guys! Enough we will do a rematch at another time (Arnold notice Helga car waiting for him). Look I have to go but enough with the bickering and don't kill each other."
Arnold walked away from the guys and headed to Helga car, he looked back again and he still sees the guys still arguing, he just shakes his head and hops in the car.
"Boys will be boys." said Helga
The car ride to the mall was quiet neither of them said a word. When they got to the mall, they both walked to different stores but they looked saw nothing and neither spoken to one other. After one hour and looking at countless stores, they decided to go to a store called BuBu Baby it was a new store. They looked around but not together, a women approach Arnold and eyeing him like a piece of meat.
"Hello, may I help you?" said the young women.
"Oh no, I am looking for a gift for my friends baby shower that's all." said Arnold
"Well what is she having?"
"She having a boy." Answered Arnold
"Well I can show you more boys section over here."
They lady took Arnold to the far end of the store, Helga still had her back towards them she was looking at the baby shoes and little socks. All can she does was smile, they were so tiny and cute she could wait to know what sex is her baby and buy all of this. She wanted to show Arnold, when she turned around she couldn't find Arnold; she walked around till she saw him with a young women looking at clothes and bags that were expensive. In Helga eyes the women was a snake for one to make a good commission and two took him to this side of this store since they lighting to better to shower off her pompous boobs, three there were no camera's around. All Arnold was doing looking at the products and talking to her. She just stood there, at one point the women touched his arm and held her hand there; Arnold didn't even shake her off, Helga had enough of this so she decided to interrupt this thing what was going on.
"Arnold! Looked what I found for Rhonda baby shower." Helga screamed across the room.
They both turned Arnold walked up to Helga and took the items out of her hands to give them a look, while the women gave her a smug looking in a way saying thanks for interfering. It was obvious the women couldn't see Helga waist she was behind the racks.
"Wow this is cute and I think this is perfect as a gift."
"Well there more stuff over here, let me show you."
"Sure! Oh ma'am let me introduce you to my wife."
Helga walked around and of course the women noticed her bump. She had a fuming face; all Helga did is put on a winning smile and talked in a fake high pitch voice.
"Nice to meet you, if you don't mind I think the service here is kind a slow and rude since no one was able to bring this down to me I had to tippy toes. Imagine if I fell and hurt myself what the owner would say about the people here." Helga said
"Well ma'am I was trying to help your husband out to pick the perfect gift for your friends baby shower." The sale associate said in a smug voice.
"Maybe you should help the both of us, next time ask if he here with someone."
"Yea, look my wife is right I mean she is pregnant and if something happens to her there will be problems." Arnold defended Helga
"Sorry next time I will be alert."
Arnold and Helga walked back to the section where Helga was, after buying couple of other things they both walked back to the car.
"So what did you like about her?" Helga said while in the car
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I am talking about; the sale associate was looking at you like a piece of meat."
"I didn't even notice I was to focus on what to get Rhonda and Curly baby."
"Yea right, are you sure you don't miss your mistress?" said Helga
"Helga don't be ridicules, the one person I miss is you." Defended Arnold
"Yea right, you rather be with her than with me."
"No I don't Helga! I want to be with you and I miss you. How many times do I have to say it?" said Arnold
"You should have thought of that, before you got with her and ruin things with me. As of right now all you are telling me are lies."
"Helga please believes me whe…."
"Look we are here" Helga interrupted
Arnold saw that they were in front of their house but except he was going home alone.
"(sigh) Alright I won't say anything else except for this, I am trying to proof to you I care about you. I will not stop until you see it and we can be a family. I love you Helga, have a nice night." Said Arnold.
As Arnold got of the car, Helga drove away but what he didn't know Helga was trying to stop the tears coming out. Helga got home around seven; she was hungry and exhausted from the day.
"Olga! You home?" screamed Helga
"Yes baby sis. I am on the phone with the pizzeria. What topping do you what?"
"UHM get me the meat lover kind I am craving that tonight."
"Alright! Meet me in the living room."
"Okay"
"Okay baby sis, how was your day?"
"It was fine, except for the fact that Arnold was flirting with the lady at the store where we bought Rhonda baby shower gift."
"Really? That really rude of him to do, I mean he trying to show you he care about you. Please what kind of man does that." said Olga
"Yea, the women was showing her boobs and making certain body movements; he just took it, I mean he could have told her to stop." said Helga
Olga was quiet for a bit
"Helga honey, don't be mad but it doesn't seem Arnold was hitting on her." Said Olga
"Olga you better explains yourself before I break your neck." Helga puffed
"Look Arnold is not my favorite person right now but I don't think he even notice on what the women were doing?"
"What you do mean?"
"Arnold was known to be dense and I think Arnold didn't even notice her. I think you over reacted just a bit."
"Well I think not, now let change the subject I am done talking about Arnold." Said Helga
"Alright, what do you want to talk about?"
"I am getting to know the sex of the baby on Tuesday."
"Oh my gosh baby sis, are you excited?" gushed Olga
"Oh yes Olga I can't wait, thank god it's already late so basically its one day away."
"Oh baby sis I…. (Doorbell rings) hold that thought let me get the door."
Helga heard Olga opened the door for the pizza man, after paying the pizza man Olga came back with three boxes of pizza. She set it down on the living room table and screamed that pizza was here. Everyone grab slices they turn on a movie since it was the last night of summer vacation for the kids. It was already nine-thirty when the movie was over, there was half of a box left; Olga husband cleaned up the living room, while Olga got the kids ready and Helga took out the trash. When she came back in, she saw Hank putting the pizza away.
"Is everything away?" asked Helga
"Yea, Olga giving James a bath (sigh) how you feeling?"
"Big" answered Helga
"Haha, Olga said the same thing to me when she was pregnant with Henry." Said Hank
"Well I think every woman feels that but it's all worth it."
"That is true, I love Henry and Alison with all my heart I can't live my life without my kids and Olga as well."
"You really love them?"
"Yea I do, look I just want you to know if you and Arnold don't stay together but I think he would be a good father." Said Hank
"I think he would to, night Hank."
"Night Helga and who knows you and Olga might be pregnant at the same time (he winked at her)."
"Oh dear God! I didn't need that image in my head, geesh I need ear plugs for tonight."
As soon she said that she heard Hank laughing. She just shook her head and went to her room.

Monday morning was a blur for Helga, she was helping Olga with the kids to get ready for school (she need the practice so she prepared for her child), everyone was running out the door and now she looks at the time it's one in the afternoon. Helga decided to work on her book till everyone came home at five; the hours flew by when she heard the door open.
"Hello anyone home?" screamed out Olga
"I am" Helga screamed back
Olga made her way to Helga room to see her writing away in her laptop.
"Hello baby sis, how was your day?" asked Olga
"Hello, uhm okay cleaned the house, ate leftover pizza, and took out the chicken for tonight and now writing my seventh chapters."
"Wow baby sis, very productive"
"Well yea the baby coming soon so I have to get into high gear."
"Okay well I am going to start dinner, Hank picking up the kids from piano lessons and dance in an hour, call me if you need anything okay."
"Okay, Olga thanks."
It was around seven when the kids came home, Helga was entering her ninth chapter but she decided it was an enough for today. She got up stretch a little and made her way to the dining room. Olga made barbeque chicken with, rice and beans. Everyone was talking about their day; all Helga was counting the hours till she finds out the sex of their baby. After eating, Helga washed the dishes and took a bath. It was eleven when she went to bed she wanted the day to be over.

Tuesday was the same routine except she worked on her book till two, she hopped into the shower and shaved she was not going with hair on her legs. She looks at the time, it was three thirty when she left the house and made her way to the doctor. When she got there was few people there she signed in and took a seat. She didn't wait long till Arnold came in.
"Hey" said Arnold
"Hey" said Helga
"You excited?" asked Arnold
"Yea, I couldn't wait till this day came." Answered Helga
"Me, either I could not concentrate on the meeting with the interns."
"Oh really?" asked Helga
"Yea, I could not wait as soon Mr. Gonzalez said I could go, I ran out the door (Helga giggled, he missed it) all I hope out baby is healthy."
"Same here."
"Mrs. Shortman!" screamed out the nurse.
"Ready?" asked Arnold
"Yea, you?"
"Yea, uhm let go meet our baby."
The couple walked in the room and waited for the door to come in.
"Hello, excepting parents how's everything?" Dr. Larry asked as soon she walked in the door.
"Good, no more vomiting but everything else is there." Answered Helga
"That's good, now I am going to take a blood test and blood pressure, remember Helga your stress level was to high let see there any improvement."
"Alright doc, do your thing?"
"Any questions?" asked Dr. Larry
"Yes! What are the chances of the baby of having my head?" asked Arnold
"Oh man that will be painful" whined Helga
"Well the chances are high but let see what the baby will look like."
The two blondes just nodded, what they didn't notice they started to hold hands while looking at the screen.
"Alright let see what we have here, now let see if the baby will give us a hint of it's gender."
Arnold and Helga kept looking at the screen and kept holding hands.
"Okay here we go, oh it look like it show us its gender."
"Really?" Helga was nervous.
"Yup, Mr and Mrs. Shortman you are having a …"
