Before you read the chapter I have a few things to say, first there are amazing writers here they have stories that have touched me and others. I personally think everyone is a writer in their own way whether is for a hobby or as a career in mind. The reason I am saying all this is because I am noticing there are lot of negative comments but it not comments on the story there comments on people who writes these stories. All writer who put their best effort to write these stories that we enjoy, should not be tormented by people. I get it there are critics and haters but I never seen a group of people just being so rude to the writers. So to those writers who keep on writing and producing awesome fictions I applaud you guys for sticking it out and for those who are thinking about quitting all I have to say is don't do it. There will always be people who will try to steal that spark inside you, keep going with your writing and if there are negative comments on your story don't let it get to you instead make it in a positive and use it to make your writing even better. Chapter 13
Mr. and Mrs. Shortman, you are having a little boy." said Dr. Larry
"Oh my gosh, a little boy." Said Helga
"A son, wow I can't believe it and I see the baby head is normal." Said Arnold
"Thank God, I can imagine if he had your head and the pain I will be going through in labor." commented Helga
What they didn't notice yet, they were still holding hands and by the look of their faces they were more memorized on the monitor that is showing the baby.
"Well now that you both know the sex of the baby, do you have a name him yet?" Dr. Larry asked
"No, not yet." Answered Arnold
"But we will soon." Added Helga
"Alright, well I am going to get your results from the blood test; so get changed and I will be with you soon."
As soon Dr. Larry was out of the room, the couple just notices that they were holding hands, Helga let go quickly and went to grab her pants to put on. To Arnold discomfort he wanted to keep holding her hand. As they were waiting for the doctor to come back, they both sat in unconformable silence. It was driving Arnold insane so he decided to break the silence.
"So a boy, are there any names popping up?" asked Arnold.
"No not yet, what about you?" asked Helga
"Honestly, since my grandfather died I always wanted to name a son after him. Then again we have to agree so I won't force it on you." Said Arnold
"Yea I will think about, but what is popping up is the time limit we have. Arnold I am thinking the weekend of Rhonda baby shower, where we are away from everyone and by ourselves we should talk." Said Helga
"Yea I agree, cause after today it made me realize that we are going to be parents very soon and we need to figure out what we are going to do." Said Arnold
Helga was going to say something but Dr. Larry came in:
"Alright Helga, I have your results and I have to say they are looking normal, the baby vitals looks good and all I need you to do is go easy on your eating habits you gain fifteen pounds. So please go easy."
"Wow that a lot of weight, I will watch what I eat."
"Okay that good, here your picture and we are done." Said Dr. Larry
Arnold went to pay the bill, while Helga asked a question to the doctor; he turned on the phone and saw he got a message from Lola:
So nice of you ignoring me, but do not worry you will be seeing me real soon,
Love Lola
Arnold just rolled his eyes her threats didn't affect him. Once the nurse gave him the receipt, he saw Helga making her way to him. They made their way to the elevator; once they made it to the entrance Arnold asked her if she wanted a ride home.
"No, Arnold Phoebe is around here for a meeting so I will wait here for her." Said Helga
"Are you sure?"
"(sigh) yes now go, before you really piss me off."
"Okay text me when you can okay."
"Yea yea now beat it." Said Helga
Arnold smiled at Helga and made his way to his car, Helga was having a little craving for ice cream; she made her way to the ice cream parlor across the street. Helga got two vanilla scoops, chocolate, four cherries and pickles,(she will start watching what she eat tomorrow) the person who was making her ice creamed call it "The Pregnancy Special" surprisingly a lot of pregnant women go there for ice cream and since it was a nice warm, sunny day Helga decided to wait for Phoebe at a little bench under a tree next to the parlor. While Helga was enjoying her ice cream a lady took a seat next to her. From the corner of her eye she noticed the women next to her was the same women Helga bumped into at the café where Lauren and her was having their lunch. The feeling came back again, Helga was thinking to either move or just ignore but either way she was hoping she would not recognized her. After five minutes of silence Helga relaxed a little bit:
"Oh Hello again" said the women
Well that was short lived
"Hello" Helga said awkwardly
"I am sorry, maybe you don't remember me I am the women you bumped into at the café." The Women said.
"Oh I am so sorry pregnancy brain." Helga said through a fake tone and smile.
"Oh that is okay, wow I must say you look a little bigger; I am guessing your baby is growing healthy."
"Yea he is getting a little heavy but soon I will be entering five months."
"Wow! That was quick."
"Yup"
There was an awkward silence, until the women talk again.
"Oh my gosh I am so rude, my mane is Lola." Lola extended her hand to Helga. Helga took her hand to shake:
"My name is Helga"
"What! As in Helga P.S. the author who is writing poems books, romance books and even mystery as well."
Helga noticed the woman was at the edge of her seat waiting for her to answer the question.
"Yes I am." Helga answered
The women squeaked in delight
"I am your biggest fan, your books speak to my soul and I might add you are beautiful. I am so jealous, I wish I had your looks." Said Lola
"Oh well thank you but you are not as bad yourself."
"Thank you, you are very sweet and humble."
All Helga could do is smile at her, was also trying to shake off this feeling that been bothering her.
"Well congrats on your books and baby as well." said Lola
"Thank you, since you know about me what about you?" asked Helga. Helga didn't know why she asked but something was telling her to get information out of her.
"Oh (the red head was taken back) uhm well I am from the country, I work as a hair stylist and I do make up as well."
"That is interesting, no partner?" Pushed Helga
"Well I did have one, he was sweet, good looking amazing in bed (Helga rolled her eyes) and what I wanted in a man."
"What happened?"
"Well he fell out of love with me."
Helga in honestly felt bad for the women, nobody should go through that pain.
"Well I am sorry that happened to you, you look like a nice women and I know you will find someone who will love you for you." Said Helga
(Oh just you wait my dear, your husband will soon notice I am the one for him and will be crawling back to me…) Lola said in her head.
"Yea. Hopefully soon."
"Oh I would not worry and try not to rush it someone will come soon."
"Is that not I am rushing it, it just I am in my thirties and I just want someone to be with me."
"Lola you will find someone and when you do, you will marry him and have many babies with him as well." said Helga
"Well marry yes but no babies."
"Oh I see, you don't like kids that is fine you just need to find someone who has the same mind set as you."
"Oh no, I love kids it just I can't have any."
"Oh I am so sorry, that must be hard to swallow."
"Well Helga it was when I first found out at twenty when I was with my boyfriend and we been trying to have a child but never produce one. So I made an appointment with my doctor and they did test on me. About a week later I found out that my ovaries were not producing eggs; that why I could not have babies. Oh but I do want one so badly."
Helga felt the pain she was going through, as Helga is expecting and she loves her son already she could not imagine not having the ability to carry a child in her belly; Helga reached over to the women and gave her a tiny hug. Lola accepted the hug.
"Thank you Helga, your husband must be lucky to have."
All Helga could do is smile at Lola, she hid her sadness.
Ring Ring…
"Hello…Hey Pheebs are you done with your meetings? Okay I will meet you there." Helga hung up the phone. "Well I have to go and I hope to see you around Lola." Helga got up from her seat and walked to the direction where she was going to meet Phoebe. Unknowingly to Helga the red hair woman was sending daggers her way.
(Oh you will Helga and I will make sure you will remember me, I can promise you that and honestly I am not sad that I can't have kid, I am just glad I won't get big as you. )
"Hello Helga, how was your appointment?" Phoebe asked as Helga entered her car. Phoebe notice Helga was all smiles and glowing even more."I am guessing it was good, is the baby healthy?"
"Oh Phoebe my baby is healthy, growing very fast and …."
"And what?"
"We found out the gender of the baby today."
"OH MY GOODNESS! Well what is it? Are we going to buy dresses or little overalls? Oh just tell me already!" Phoebe was bouncing in her seat.
"Pheebs relax, Pheebs you will be having a nephew in five months."
"AAAHHHHH! I can't wait, OH!"
"What wrong Pheebs?"
"Oh nothing I have to start planning your baby shower soon."
"Pheebs we got time for that."
"OH no we don't Helga, this week we will be busying packing for Rhonda baby shower and we will be planning for your trips for your new book. Speaking of which have you finished your book yet?"
"No not yet, today once I get home I will work on it, I am thinking this book will last twenty or thirty chapters. Lucky for me Olga will be with Miriam and the kids. I will have the house to myself for the rest of the day. As for the baby shower I would not worry too much of it."
"Helga by the time you are done with your trips you will be close to six months and planning a shower will take time, it not like a one day planning; once you book drops in January we will be hosting a release party so in reality we don't have a enough time to plan everything."
"Alright Phoebe you are right there a lot of planning and I still have to talk to Arnold about Wizard World in New York and also when to announce the pregnancy."
"Yes there a lot you will have to talk to him about. So my recommendation is talk to him today and figure out when it the right time."
"Okay, well let get out of there."
"Driving."
After Phoebe dropped her off, Helga changed into comfort clothes and buried herself writing her book. By the time it was nine at night Helga already did three more chapters so she will do three more chapters before she goes to bed. As of right now her hunger and her back aching was telling her time to eat and relax. After eating her dinner Helga decided to call Arnold.
Arnold just got out of the shower, when he heard his cell phone ringing.
"Hello"
"Hey it's me."
"Hey Helga is everything okay?"
"Yes Arnold I kind wanted to talk to you."
" Okay Helga, let me put on some clothes since I got out of the shower."
"Okay" Helga face got a little red. She pictured his body dripping in water. She shakes her head (stupid hormones)
"Okay I am back, what do you wanted to talk about?" Asked Arnold
"Well after my meeting with Mr. Davis he wanted to know if we should announce the pregnancy?"
"Well I think that a good idea, not that I am pressuring you but I think your fans would love to know. What do you think?"
"I don't mind, I just don't want the public know about our situation as well. …I have an idea!"
"That is true. What do you have in mind?" Arnold was curious on the idea Helga was thinking.
"Why not have a picture taken of us, you behind me holding my belly and it will be Paris theme since dreamed of traveling to Paris."
"I really like that idea, when do you want it to be taken?"
"I will call a friend from People magazine tomorrow and have it taken Thursday night and it will be release Friday."
"Okay that not bad but what about when they ask about our life?"
"Arnold we will keep it simple nothing to extreme. You got it bucko. Also we will try to focus the attention towards the baby"
"Whatever you say Helga."
"Exactly. Well the baby and I are tired so I am going to bed night Arnold."
"Night Helga, love you."
Helga didn't say anything she just made a sound of understanding.
The past two days been busy for the soon to be parents Helga finally finished her book; she sent it off to Mr. Davis so he can send it to the editor. Arnold was busy with back to back appointments, he trying to see much people he can since Friday is a half a day for him. Also packing for their three day stay for Rhonda baby shower; by Friday morning People Magazine release their pregnancy announcement.
"Good Morning Hillwood, on our tops stories today the famous Author whose been writing the infamous romance and poem books Helga P.S. and her husband Arnold are expecting their first child. (host one)
"I have to say, I am really excited for them, they are having a baby boy and look at that cover. They have him behind her they are both looking at each other with big smiles on their faces and their eyes you can tell there is a lot love in that relationship."(host two)
"I must agree, the cover is beautiful especially they have Paris behind them. Which is out there, the one thing I love about this we get to see some glimpse of their private lives." (host one)
"True, they are so private they are hardly on the lime light; they have tight knit family and friends. They live in a small town; they don't want to be bothered. But they did answered a few questions." (host two)
"What were the few questions?"(host one)
"Well when people magazine asked the soon to be parents they asked "How happy are they to be expecting their first child?" They answered "They are excited for their baby boy and they canot wait for the new adventures that will come to in the future." Next question "What is the baby name?" "Not only they are excited but so are their fans, tweeter been blowing up, saying congrats to the couple and sending them many positive vibes. I think they will make awesome parents and their baby will be beautiful. Also today another topic….." (host one )
Helga was watching Good morning Hillwood, she was finishing packing couple of things. Mr. Davis loved the magazine, she been getting phone calls from friends and family congratulating her and Arnold. From all this excitement Helga could not be happy. Yesterday night when they were doing the cover and when she had Arnold arms around her she felt like she was on the moon. She felt this should have been them right now, she never thought they be separated. When she looked into his eyes she wanted to cry all over again. This was supposed to be the happiest moments in their lives. There was a time where the photographer asked them to share a kiss, when they did she wanted to melt in his arms and tell him she was coming back home. Arnold never let go of her throughout the photo shoot. When it was over the reality hit, they were going home separately, she cried that night. Helga shook off the feeling of pity, sadness and just finish packing since Arnold will being picking her up in an hour.
Knock Knock
"Come in" answered Helga
"Hi baby sister, are you almost ready?"
"I am almost done, just can't decided on the dress to put on for the baby shower. Either the all pink with white poke dots or the navy dress."
"Well baby sister if you don't mind but since it is at the ranch I would recommend the pink one since it longer so you don't get cold and it shapes your body perfectly."
Helga thought about for a minutes and she agreed with Olga. She folded the dress nice and neatly in the suitcase.
"Baby sister, uhm you don't have to answer but is this the weekend that you will talk to him?"
"Yes, Arnold and I agreed we will be talking and hopefully figure everything out. And I think it's time he tells me who is this women and why her?" said Helga
"Oh baby sister you sure? I don't want you get more upset and stress out even more."
"Olga I need to know, if I don't know it will stress me even more."
"Okay baby sister, be safe and have fun at Rhonda tell her congrats on the baby as well."
"Will do Olga."
Helga finished packing when Arnold showed up, she made her way to front seat, and Arnold made his way to the driver side.
"You ready?"
"Yes Arnold but we are going to a shower not to an event." Snapped Helga
"I meant are you ready for the long drive."
"Well I can't do nothing about it but suck it up. When are Gerald and Phoebe going to meet with us?"
"They left already they have a 30 min head start." Answered Arnold
Helga had the look on her face.
"Well what do you say we try to beat them?"
Arnold looked at Helga like she had nine heads.
"What?" Arnold said
"Come on Arnold, it will be fun and it might not bored us with the four hour drive."
"Helga that's insane, you know how fast I will be going and you know there are cops at the high ways."
"Arnold let have fun, because when this baby comes we will be tied down for a long time. We won't be having fun like this."
"Well… since you put like that alright let see who wins." Agreed Arnold.
"Alright, hit the road."
After a two hours and twenty min drive, it seems that Helga and Arnold made it first. They made to the B&B, the man took them to the house they booked and the picture did not do the house justice. The house was much prettier, the two oaks trees where bigger and greener. Helga and Arnold went inside as soon you walked in there was a big spacious halls way, after the hallway on the right was the living room and on the left was the indoor porch, right in the middle was the grand stair case that leads to the two rooms. Arnold and Helga looked at each other and they had the face of teenagers thinking to see what room was better and that they would call dips on. Since Helga could not run Arnold took the right bed room since it was further and Helga took the left. Helga opened the door, already her mouth drop the bed was king's size, furniture white with gold rims, had a sweetheart sofa next to the big window and next to the bed was a balcony that showed the lake and forest. Helga was in love with this room, plus the closet was big and that was a win for her. Arnold came in and he froze, he could not believe a B&B had a room like this.
"How was the other room?" Helga brought him back from the trance
."Uhm not as pretty as this, the closet is bigger and there no rug here. Look at this view! The other room only shows the other house and some part of the high way." Said Arnold.
"So do we have a winner?" asked Helga
"Yes we are taking this room."
"Okay let get our suit cases and start unpacking."
Arnold and Helga were almost done till they heard Gerald car pulling up, they both ran downstairs like bunch of kids and greeted their best friends at the door.
"Hey guys!" Arnold yelled
"How on earth did you guys beat us?" asked Gerald.
The two blondes cannot stop giggling since Gerald eyes were about to pop out and his mouth were hanging.
"Well just a little speed and few short cuts; boom we were here." Answered Arnold
"Just a little speed uh-huh by how much?"
"Oh I don't know 70-80 mph."
Gerald eyes went the size of plates and that the couple lost it and could not stop laughing.
"Oh my I am surprise you guys didn't get pulled over." Said Phoebe
"Well that was luck and if anything Arnoldo would have said I was giving birth so he was in rush to get me to the hospital." Helga said
"Well man Phoebe you know what this mean? They got the better room."
"Oh come on Gerald they both got a king sizes beds and on suit bathroom."
"Arnold tell me the truth, what your room got that we don't."
"Alright we got the view of the lake; you got the view of the other house and part of the highway."
"Told you Pheebs next time we go away we leave a day before them."
"Gerald we will leave a week before you guys if we have to." Said Helga
"Alright guys let us bring our suit cases into the house and un-pack so we can walk around and take a look around here." Said Phoebe
Everyone agreed, they went to their rooms put their things away, by the time everything was done it was close to two in the afternoon. The girls change to comfortable clothes and shoes, the men wore shorts and a t-shirt. The girls made their way downstairs finding the guys eye the big screen t.v.
"Alright men after the tour of the house you can watch t.v. and Phoebe and I can cook some food deal." Helga offered.
"Alright deal" Gerald said.
"Alright let's head outside."
The gang took the tour of the backyard which had benches, flowers all around, the two oaks trees providing shade and a bonfire pit as well. Towards the back they found a bbq section with a grill under a gazebo and lawn furniture. When they came back they notice two doors, to their surprise one lead to the indoor pool and the other lead to a home theater. The gangs decided to take a dip in the pool since it was warm and perfect. They change in their swimsuit, at this point Helga belly was bigger and round she go in the water to join them.
"Be careful Helga, I don't want anything happening to my godchild." Said Gerald
Helga was about to response but someone beat her to it
"Do not worry Gerald, as long there are no waves around she fine, the water actually massages the baby and the mom comfortable as well."
Everyone looked at Arnold like he grew another head.
"Arnold how did you know about that?" Asked Helga
"Oh (Arnold blushed) I uh been reading baby books ever since I found out you were pregnant I want to be prepared."
"Really? (Helga heart started to beat faster and harder) I didn't expect you to read something like that." Said Helga
"Oh is that why you made me buy all those books for and the (splash) he what was that?" said Gerald
Arnold gave Gerald a murders look, kind a telling him do not blow the secret.
"And what?" asked the girls.
"Uh….a doll and diapers." Gerald recovered
"Yea so I can get use to changing diapers." Said Arnold
"Wow I am proud of you Arnold." Said Phoebe
"Yea so am I." Helga reached Arnold and gave him a hug, she wanted to cry. What she didn't notice two people stepping a few feet away from them.
"Gerald look at them, they are still in love with each other."
"I know Phoebe, this is the one marriage I expect to make it and damn it, it will and we will make sure of it." Said Gerald.
"How?"
"Reminding them the good times they had together and how they are made for each other. Plus I think this is what they needed."
"You think so?" questioned Phoebe
"Yes I do, away from people, just them alone and having fun."
"You are right Gerald that makes perfect sense."
"Of course it make sense Phoebe."
Gerald lean down kissed his wife.
"Ewe guys, not in front of us."
They both turn and see the two blondes covering their eyes. To Gerald this was a perfect moment to bring up good memories.
"Really guys! This is nothing like the time I caught you guys making out in my dorm room."
Helga and Arnold had a guilty looks on their faces.
"What is wrong guys?"asked Phoebe.
"Well Gerald, you caught me and Helga kissing but if you came a few minutes earlier you would have seen more than kissing and do not forget we shared a dorm so it was not only your room." Arnold stated
It took Gerald a few minutes to make the connection.
"OH! Please tell me you guys didn't have sex on my bed?"
"No Gerald-o"
"Thank goodness"
"It was on your bean bag." Helga said
"You mean the red bean bag that we have in our room?" said Gerald.
"Yea, we were studying and then started playing well you knows what that leads to." Said Arnold.
"You guys suck as of right now and now I have to throw away my bean bag."
"Oh Gerald it not that bad, look I will buy you a new bean bag."
"You know what Arnold yes you will. And I want it bigger as well."
"Deal Gerald."
Both men shakes hands, the two couple spent couple of hours in the pool, having swimming contest, volley ball (while Helga kept score) and what Phoebe notice as well Arnold would always come up Helga behind to hug her and rub her belly. What she also noticed Helga didn't seem to mind the close contact. In Phoebe mind this is how she pictured her friend life growing up. Maybe just maybe this is what they needed, just to get back to basic on why they married each other. After the pool everyone headed back to the house to get ready for dinner. The wives took the on suit bathroom and the men took the hall bathrooms. Once they were done the women went to the kitchen to get dinner ready, once the men set up the table they headed to the living room to watch a football game in the big screen tv in the living room. Both men had a beer and cheering on their team, once commercial hit Gerald decided to see what his blonde friend think of the day so far?
"So how are you liking the day so far?"
"Well Gerald I am loving it, I feel like Helga do not mind being around me, she has not snap at me and if feels like nothing changed at all; I feel like we are being like we were when we got married." Said Arnold
"I know what you mean man, it seems like it. Look I am rooting for you guys all the way, especially this baby on the way."
"Thanks Gerald, oh I forgot to tell you we know the gender of the baby."
"Oh you do, tell me man what is it?"
"Gerald soon we be having a baby boy."
"Really? A nephew is on the way? Oh man that is exciting. Have you guys thought about a name yet?"
"No not yet, soon we will pick a name for him. Speaking of children when am I going to get a niece or nephew?" asked Arnold.
"Haha we been trying, Phoebe hoping to get pregnant while Helga pregnant so she can experience it with her for a while. Plus it always been the girls dream to have all their pregnancies together."
"Haha that's true Gerald, shoot they even told us if we ever propose to them we had to do it the same year."
"Lucky we were both ready in the same year, our wives are insane aren't they."Stated Gerald
"Yes, but we wouldn't have any other way."
"Preach it man."
The game came back on; the husband kept watching the game till it was time for dinner.
In the kitchen
"So Pheebs, what should we make?"
"hhhmmmm oh I have an idea, chicken parmesan with spaghetti."
"I like the idea and Pheebs you make some banging spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce hmmhmm delicious." Helga mouth was already watering.
"Oh Helga what about your chicken breaded and garlic bread as well."
"Thank you, so should we get started?"
The both women got started
"So what did you think about today?" asked Phoebe
"I thought it was okay, I really enjoyed being at the pool; the water really took off some pressure from my back." Said Helga
"Really, Helga you are not that big."
"True but it not like bad pain, just dull pain I am guessing the baby bigger so the extra weight is getting to my back."
"Oh I see"
"Yea but yea I had a good time and you?"
"Well yes Helga I had a good time as well, I think we needed this just to get away from everyone before our lives get into high gear."
"Yes Pheebs I agree."
"So uhm Helga …"
"Yes Pheebs.." Phoebe stares at Helga as she breaded the chicken.
"Well I notice by the pool today that you and Arnold were acting very affection it. And I also notice you looked happy as well."
Helga was quiet for a moment
"Well Pheebs I am going to be honest with you, I still love Arnold with all my heart and today I don't know what came over me but I could have sworn I saw the old Arnold that I fell in love with; just being in his arms brought me back memories. (sigh) I am kind a miss him at times, like when the baby moves I wish he was next to me so he can feel our son. Am I weak for feeling those feelings?"
"No you are not Helga, you are a women who is in love with a man that you loved since you were three. Helga I am rooting for you and Arnold to get back together." Said Phoebe
"Really?"
"Yes Really."
"Thanks Phoebe I don't know what I will do without you."
(Guys cheering in the living room)
"You be lost without me." Phoebe say as she put her arm around Helga. "Now why don't we finish cooking so the guys could eat."
Both women went on with their cooking.
Once the cooking was done, everyone gather around the table and shared the food that was placed on the table. The guys talked about the game while the girls pretended to listen vise versa when the women talked about the baby shower. After dinner the men took dish duty while the women went upstairs to get ready for bed. When Arnold finally came in the room, he found a sleeping Helga on the bed; she was curled on her right side. Arnold was just staring at her and notice how beautiful this pregnancy made her. He got ready for bed, Arnold was not sure if Helga wanted to share the same bed, so not risking a chance of making her mad or uncomfortable he took the love seat. When he was about to sleep, he heard Helga call for him:
"Arnold what are you doing?"
"I was about to go to sleep."
"On the love seat?" questioned Helga
"Yea"
"You are going to hurt your back, come on the bed with me if not you will have back pain and may not make it to Rhonda baby shower."
"Are you sure? I don't want you to be uncomfortable."
"I will be fine just come to bed already."
Arnold was not gonna lie he was relieved that he was not gonna sleep on the love seat. He climbed on the bed, he was facing his wife sleep form, and he took a minute to look at her features. He closed his eyes and had a smile on his face. As of right now this was a perfect moment and a perfect day.
