Chapter 28: I'll be your Flamigo
Ash and his class were now back on the road, and were on their way to the next location of the Herba Mystica, which was said to be at the top of a mountian in the Western Province. For now however, t hey need to take the road that leads them there. Along the way, they were going through a large area filled with many ponds, one that plays host to many kinds of Pokemon.
"Wow, I can just take a picture of all of them, that will help me with my photography skills" Felia said as she pulled out her camera. She then took a few shots of the various kinds of wildlife that were around before saving them to the camera's storage.
Arven was looking at the scenery with some binoculars he had with him, and when he turned the other way, he saw some of the more interesting wildlife on display. He saw some Ludicolo playing with Lotad and Lombre in the shallow pools, and some Paldean Wooper slashing about as well.
"Wow, I never saw Wooper like those before" Ash said with amazement in his voice. His whole class sweat-dropped, despite being their teacher, it seams Ash can still have that child-like wonder in his spirit.
"Actually, those Wooper are what eventually evolve into Clodsire here" Thomas answered to his teacher, with the poison fish Pokemon giving out a confirming 'Cloooooooood' "Wow, is that so" Ash said, fully fascinated in the regional variant.
As they continue to observe the wilderness, Nemona found something off. She found what appears to be a flamingo Pokemon nearby, but it appeared to be in pain, as it holding its wing.
"Hey guys, I think that Flamigo over there needs help" She said pointing to the avian. "Flamigo?" "Pika?" Ash and Pikachu then looked up the new creature.
Flamigo: The synchronize Pokemon, a fighting flying type
They are known to move and attack in perfect sync with each other, they tie the base of their into a knot to prevent energy from escaping
"Now that the dex mentioned it, yeah, I can see a knot in its neck" Thomas said while pointing. Nemona slowly approached it as to not startle the injured bird. However, Flamigo did not take lightly to her presence and pushed her back with a Double Kick attack, sending her to the ground.
"Calm down Flamigo, I'm only here to help!" Nemona said in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but the stubborn flamingo wouldn't calm down. "Let me at her!" Vanny said, ready to send her Orthworm out to battle, but Nemona stopped her. "No! I'm not going to startle this Pokemon any further, Sprigatito, come out!" She then sends her grass kitten against the flamingo.
Flamigo was quick on her feet despite her injuries, managing to catch Sprigatito off guard with a Peck attack, but the petite kitten managed to hold on. "Sprigatito, when Flamigo goes in for another attack, counter with Scratch!" Nemona instructed. Flamigo leapt forward with another Peck attack, but Sprigatito elongated her claws and pet the attack head on.
"Good, now use Bite!" The kitten then bit down hard on Flamigo's head, making her shriek in pain. "Now's my chance!" Nemona then tossed a pokeball at Flamigo, capturing it.
"We should get it to a Pokemon Center, they'll know how to handle this" Arven stated "You're right, let's go!" Nemona shouted.
Thanks to Koraidon and Miraidon, they were able to get to a Pokemon Center without much trouble, and Nurse Joy was able to get to work on Flamigo's condition. The group had to wait outside while they waited for the results, and out of all of them, Nemona was the most anxious, constantly looking at the Center in hopes that Flamigo was going to pull through.
"I know you're worried Nemona" Ash said while placing a hand on her shoulder "But Flamigo will be alright, these are trained professionals were talking about." That did little to console Nemona, whom could have sworn she'd have a heart attack from all of her worries building up in her mind. What if she was too late, what if she was too harsh with subduing her, what caused her injuries in the first place?
Eventually, the Nurse Joy called them over. "Is she going to be OK?!" Nemona asked in an almost frantic tone, which was immediately subdued by Joy's beaming smile. "Yes, she is going to be alright, however, I'd recommend that she not go through battling for quite some time, for her own sake" "Oh thank you so much Joy" Nemona sighed out with relief evident in her voice.
"Just doing my job" Nurse Joy said, still having that smile on her face "Now take care" "We will!" Everyone said in unison.
Ash and the gang were now back on the road, and were getting closer to their destination, Nemona was hanging out in the back, closely examining Flamigo's pokeball, to ensure that there aren't any flaws with it.
"Jeez Nemona, you are sure obsessed with that Flamigo" Vanny said "I can't help it, I just want to make sure she gets better soon" "We all do Nemona, you just need to relax a bit" Ash said while setting up the training area for his Pokemon.
"Say Ash, how about a battle between you and me, Lechonk here needs some experience" Arven stated, with Lechonk snorting, and pumping himself up. "You're on, Dunsparse, I choose you!" Ash sends out his land snake to battle the fellow normal type.
"Alright Lechonk, let's start off with Covet!" Arven shouted out, and Lechonk charged forward with hears surrounding him. "Dunsparse, fight back with Ancient Power!" Ash shouted. Dunsparse created many white spheres out of thin air and lunched them at the piglet Pokemon, whom was dodging them all thanks to his small size. Lechonk eventually struck Dunsparse, but Ash was quick to retaliate.
"Use Mud Slap!" Dunsparse's wings became covered in mud, and they flung mud into Lechonk's face, blinding him. "Get rid of that mud quick!" Arven shouted, and Lechonk began shaking in an attempt to get the mud off.
As the fight continued, Nemona decided to sit an watch, but as she did so, she felt Flamigo's pokeball shake. "Wow, this girl seems to be feisty" Nemona said to herself, and that was when the flamingo let herself out of her pokeball, wanting to get in on the action.
"Wait, Flamigo!" But it was too late, as Flamigo had knocked both Dunsparse and Lechonk out with Double Kick. "Nemona!" Ash said with an irritated look on his face "Sorry, she let herself out, I didn't expect it."
She then turned to scold Flamigo "You know you can't just interrupt a battle just because you want to be in it, that's poor sportsmanship!" Flamigo looked down in shame for the stunt she pulled, but was soon cheered up when Nemona said "Don't worry, me Sprigatito Lycanroc and Charcadet will all help you get stronger, isn't that right?"
"Spriiiiiiig" "Awwoooooooo" "Char char"
"So what do you say Flamigo, want to be our amigo?" Nemona said with a corny zinger and an open hand. Flamigo then met that hand with a wing, and they shook.
"Glad you see it that way, now let's get to work on rehabing your strength!" Nemona said with Charcadet ready to act as the attacker. Ash was now happy that things were now under control, as he used a revive on his Dunsparse so he can regain conciousness.
