Chapter 30: Just your standard training Part 1

After they defeated the Titan Bombirdier, they decided to stay at the mountainside before they go any further on their field trip. Ash in particular was very excited about his Kilowattrel's evolution, and wanted to see how he could fare against his fellow birds.

"Ok everyone, are you ready for our next training regiment?" Ash said with his hands on his hips. "I'm ready as always, let's do it!" Vanny said with a confident smirk on her face.

"Glad to see your optimism Vanny, because we are having a few more hands on activities, with that said, trainers, send out your Pokemon!"

Everyone sent out their Pokemon who all let out cries of excitement.

"Alright everyone, here's our first training session: Ash style!"

The first part of the training sessions involved taking as many super effective attacks as possible, first up was Vanny. She sent out her Orthworm, and Nacli, who were facing Ash's Primeape.

"Umm, Mr. Ketchum, do you think we can go with someone a little less... rough?"

"Oh come on Vanny, where was all that bravado you had? You what they say, no pain, no gain"

Vanny, feeling herself psyched up again, and went onward.

Primeape proved to be very brutal when it comes to his attacks, his time training under Anthony proving just how strong he had become. Within just a few minutes, both Orthworm and Nacli both fell to his Brick Break attack.

"Well that was anticlimactic.." Penny remarked while elbowing Gus "I wouldn't be taking when you have to step up to the plate" Gus replied, and that immediately shut Penny up.

After giving Vanny's Pokemon a couple of revival herbs, it was Carla's turn, whom were up against Ash's Sceptile. Carla felt like she was about to pass out, as she had read about powerful Ash's Sceptile. When she read that he defeated a Darkrai, she swore she was dreaming.

Unfortunately for her, this proved to be all too real as Dondozo, Veluza, and Wiglett all fell to a single Leaf Blade each.

"That was a little much don't you think Ash?"

"Sorry, I guess we can go with someone a little less powerful"

Next up was Gus, who sent out Bellibolt, Capsakid, and Shellder. Ash decided to send out three Pokemon this time, those being Donphan, Quilava, and Snivy.

Donphan was a living bulldozer, with his High Horsepower almost sending Bellibolt into the nearby campsite, Quilava was too quick for Capsakid to keep track of, and was quickly overwhelmed by his Flame Wheel attack, and Shellder didn't stand a chance against Snivy's Leaf Storm attack.

"I thought you said you'd go with someone less powerful" Gus complained, to which Ash sheepishly rubbed the back of his head "I guess my Pokemon are just really powerful, how about this, your Pokemon can get the chance to land their attacks on my Pokemon?"

"That sounds good to me"

"I'm way for it"

"Let's do it!"

A few revival herbs later, and it was now time for offense training, and this time, they had to land not very effective hits on their targets, that way they would be able to strengthen the power of those moves.

Orthworm went up against Palpitoad, who laid himself out like a living target. Orthworm swung his strongest Iron Tail attack, but other than sending Palpitoad a few feet back, it didn't do much damage.

"No worries Orthworm, we'll just swing harder" Vanny said while pumping her fist into the air. Orthworm went along with what she had in mind, and began to put more power into his Iron Tail attack, until Palpitoad was sent flying around a few yards.

"Wow, that was awesome!" Vanny cheered, with Orthworm guttering in happiness. "Alright, who's next?" Ash said while sending out his Hawlucha.

Gus stood up with his Capsakid, with his Leafage attack not doing much damage, Hawlucha merely just blocking it with his winged arms. That was when Gus had the idea of having Capsakid use Growth to boost his power and then firing off a stronger Leafage, one that actually made Hawlucha flinch and recoil from the impact.

"Nice one Capsakid!"

"Indeed, although that was in due part to Growth boosting Capsakid, but that proves you are getting stronger, so who's next?" Ash said as he then sent out Bayleef.

And with that, Carla sent out her Dondozo, who began the one-sided fight by using Water Pulse, which merely splashed into Bayleefs face, who gave a mocking yawn.

Dondozo was angered by this taunt, and then resorted to Wave Crash to see if there would be some actual damage this time. Bayleef smirked, tensing up for the imminent collision that the attack would bring.

SMASH!

Dondozo swamped over Bayleef with a massive wave formed around him, and it looks like Bayleef is all washed up. But that was soon squandered by Bayleef still standing tall and proud, if a bit wet. Dondozo began to weep comically as Carla attempted to console him.

The rest of the offense training went on as normally, until it was time for Ash's Pokemon to do some endurance training.

"Ok guys, while you all take a break, I'm gonna help my Pokemon get stronger with my older Pokemon, I'll leave you all to do whatever" Ash said as he walked off to a nearby field.

After Ash got far enough, he sent out his Pokemon that he planned on training.

"Alright everyone, here's how today's sessions will go down, Kilowattrel, I want you to go flying around with Unfezant to increase your speed, that way, you can make your Electro Ball stronger" Ash explained while Kilowattrel got into the air with Unfezant, who was about ready to have a race with the newest bird on the block. They then took off, and immediately, Unfezant was way ahead of Kilowattrel, being far too quick for the electric petrel to keep up with.

Kilowattrel isn't one to give up so easily however, as he chased after her intent on showing just how fast he can be. He looked around for any possible gust of wind to use to propel himself forward, and found one just above his fellow bird. Smirking, he dashed for it and felt the wind boost him up to the point where's now neck and neck with Unfezant.

The Proud Pokemon saw her rival catch up with her and knew she had to shake him, so thinking quickly she used Quick Attack to dart ahead, leaving Kilowattrel in the dust. Kilowattrel kept pushing himself beyond his limits, feeling himself move as quickly as a fighter jet until he felt himself being surroundef by a field of electricity similar to the one that surrounded him when he evolved, and he rammed Unfezant out of the way until he felt a twinge of pain that made him lose control and plummet to the ground.

Thankfully, Unfezant was able to grab him before he made impact with the ground, and Ash saw what had happened.

"Incredible! You learned Wild Charge!"

"Killoooooooooooo"

"Keep this sort of stuff up and you'll be faster than a Ninjask using Extreme Speed!"

He then turned his head to find his Fuecoco covered in soot and his Pignite expelling some smoke from his snout. It didn't take much brain power to figure out what happened. Chuckling, Ash took out a super potion to treat Fuecoco and get him back up on his feet, and he then saw Finizen spinning through hoops that Ash had set up so the dolphin could practice his Aqua Jet turning, and so far he was doing pretty good.

He then saw Dunsparce trying to use Dual Wingbeat on a rock, but it wouldn't budge. As it turns out Dunsparce isn't exactly what you would call the brightest star in the sky, at least without instruction.

"How about you try using Drill Run Dunsparce?"

Dunsparce cocked his head, wondering what Ash was talking about.

"Oh right, you don't know Drill Run, that could be a problem"

He then set about to teaching Dunsparce how to use the ground type attack.

"So here's how it works Dunsparce, you basically focus ground type energy into your tail to execute the move, want to give it a shot?"

"Digigigigigi"

"Alright then, use Drill Run!"

Dunsparce then aimed his tail at the boulder, and poured his ground type energy into it. As it was about to start spinning like a drill, it ended up exploding in his face, covering him in dust.

"Oh dear, this is like Gible and Axew all over again... Try again Dunsparce, just put more focus"

Dunsparce tried again, this time he was able to form the attack, but it quickly petered out.

"Great! You're making progress, keep up with the focusing and you will be able to use the move without issue"

After that, Ash went over to see how his more experienced Pokemon were doing, and they were currently at each other like a pack of wild Houndoom. This didn't surprise Ash at all since his Pokemon often love to fight, but they can sometimes go a bit overboard whenever they aren't instructed. Ash usually chalked it up to their Pokemon instincts kicking in and making them more savage than usual, but that's all the more reason to help refine their battle abilities so that they can be ready to face whatever they come across.

"Well whatever's the case, the newest batch of Pokemon will sure live up to my expectations"
