I own only the OCs nothing else.
Bella
As a dragonet she'd always dreamt of traveling the continent, but she never expected so many dragons dead. It had been almost twenty years of the war, and she was a powerful rainwing. She could overthrow any dragon. She didn't need fire or frost breath or even her venom to take down her opponents. After meeting a mudwing as a young dragonet, cast out of his tribe, she realized that the war had to stop. She found out what it was like to have someone to care about. Calour found her in the middle of the night. It was dark and wet. He was searching for a place to hide and, instead of killing him, she helped him. After about ten years together they were an unstoppable team. When they heard about a queen dying they had to go see what it was about.
"Calour you stay here," Bella said.
"No, I want to hear what the skywings are saying." Calour argued back.
"You don't have camouflage scales," she said back at him. "I'll tell you when I get back."
She slowly glided down the cliff and landed in a tree close by,
"Do you really think Queen Scarlet is dead?" one said.
"I don't know. But I think we should welcome Ruby. I mean she released all the prisoners and told us not to fight anymore." the other sighed. "We can finally go home."
So scarlet is dead, thought Bella. I did not see that coming. She flew back up the cliff to Calour.
"So Scarlet might be dead." she told him.
"What do you mean?" Calour asked.
"Well Ruby is taking over now. She let all the prisoners go and is telling the skywings to go home and stop fighting." she explained. "They didn't say what happened to Scarlet though. I wonder how she died. If she did."
"Can we go back home? I've never liked the Sky kingdom." Calour asked.
"Yeah, let's go."
They both flew back to the mountain range where they lived. On the way there Bella caught two rabbits and a net full of fish.
"Do you think Scarlet is really dead?" Calour asked.
"I don't know," Bella said as she put the rabbits in her bag. "it's possible but they would need to be a very strong dragon to kill her."
"This war needs to end now." Calour said into the air.
"I did hear some rumors that Scarlet had the dragonets of destiny trapped so maybe we could look into her death," She replied.
He looked at her. "THE dragonets?" he asked, surprised.
"Yes. But I don't know if I believe it. The dragonets of destiny have been in hiding I think, so why come out now?" she thought about it.
Calour just shrugged his shoulders. "I just wonder where they are and how they'll save the continent from the war."
She looked at him. She knew he missed his family. Well what he had of a family. He only had a mother and she was forced to leave him after he hatched. She loved having him around though. She could always use a bigwings of her own. To him though she was the bigwings. She was the toughest between the two.
She smiled. "I have an idea."
"What?" he said, seeing her face.
"Let's visit the rainforest." she suggested. "Oh come on, it's got all the fruit you could want and it's my tribe."
He looked at her and nodded. "Yeah I guess."
She bumped his wing. "Hey you may not be in their tribe but you're in my tribe."
He smiled. "Ok let's go."
She brightened up. "I'll start gathering up supplies." She flew over to their small cave and grabbed all the scrolls of the desk. She looked in the small chest near their beds and grabbed the golden chain out of it. The chain had silver inlaid in it along with rubies and sapphires. She had gotten it from her mother before she died. She looked at it and put it in her bag around her neck. She reached in again and grabbed some gold coins. She made sure the chest was empty before closing it. She walked over to the wall and looked at a picture. It was her mother. A regal soft looking rainwing stood in a tree looking up at the sky. She had not known her mother very well. She liked to keep secrets from Bella. Including why she had left the rainforest. She took the picture off the wall and carefully put it in her bag.
She walked out smiling at Calour. "I'm ready."
He looked at her smiling. They both opened their wings and took off. They sailed past Jade mountain towards the Jungle. It only took half a day to get there. Calour was faster than most Mudwings. He had bigger wings than Mudwings too but they never questioned it. Bella was most definitely faster than the other rainwings. She had only traveled to her home land twice in her life. Once when she was 5 and the other when she was 10. She was now 18. She had only gone the two times because Calour had wanted to try some fruits. She had also wanted to try some of the fruits herself.
They flew over the swampy land that then turned into the rainforest. The sweet smell of flowers and fruits hit them as they landed in the mud on the rainforest floor. She didn't mind the mud and she knew Calour loved it. They walked through the forest. She was expecting the little dart to come out at them but nothing happened. She walked past a tree that sounded like the birds were having a party in it. Her claws felt a little too wet as she stamped through them mud. They walked for what seemed like forever then Calour saw something in the distance. It looked like a dragon tail. It was a dragon. The dragon was submerged into a small hammock only its tail limply out to the side. As she looked around she saw other hammocks hanging from trees. As she looked closer she saw small shacks that blended into the forest.
"Wow." Calour said, noticing what she saw. "This is amazing."
"Yeah." she acknowledged him. "I never knew my tribe could build this." her eyes scanned the tree's and saw more dragons. Some were flying through the trees and some were lounging in the sun. She saw one notice them and camouflage themselves so they would be hidden. She saw them move closer as she began to open her wings. Calour noticed the slight movements of the camouflaged dragons as he stiffened up.
"Easy." she let out a small hiss. "We don't want them to hit us with those darts."
It didn't work because a minute later he was hit with one then she was. After she was hit she fell to the ground, her eye vision blurring as she saw dragons emerge from the forest then blackness.
She woke up on a platform high in the trees. It took her a moment to remember where she was. She sat up as fast as she could, baring her fangs. The other rainwings jumped back. An older dragonet came up to her and glared at Calour who was still asleep.
"Who are you?" She hissed. Even though this dragonet was angry her scales were calm and collective.
"No one of your concern." she hissed back. The dragonet looked a little taken aback at that. She was poking Calour with her tail to wake him up.
"I said who are you?" she hissed a little more menacing. Bella stayed calm. She knew a bunch of dragons used this tactic and she had won against all of them. Calour suddenly nudged her tail aside and sat up. The dragonet saw him and hissed. This set her off. No one attacked Calour under any circumstance. She saw an opportunity and leapt onto the smaller dragon. She was about to claw at her then a mudwing slammed into her. She was about to yell at Calour for doing that but it was a different Mudwing. She looked over his shoulder and saw a Seawing holding Calour down. The seawing was smaller than him but she looked a little stronger. Bella let out a growl. She then jumped over the Mudwing and flung herself at the Seawing knocking her off Calour. They both tumbled over on the platform and fell off. The seawing grabbed the edge of it letting Bella freefall. Her wings caught the air and she uprighted herself. She then camouflaged into the forest around her.
"Where did she go?" The seawing yelled as she got back up.
"I don't know." the mudwing said, confused. "Did you see how she just jumped over me?"
They were all around Calour. "You should have let us go." He said unsteadily. She was hanging in a tree right above them.
"We have to find her." the young rainwing spoke. "We have to figure out who sent them."
"You won't find her." Calour spoke up. He was sitting now with the mudwing and seawing on both sides. "She'll find you." He looked into her eyes. She then found her target. She dropped down quietly and pounced onto the rainwing. As she did Calour smacked his tail into the Mudwing and jumped onto the seawing holding her down.
"You should have let us be." she spat.
The younger rainwing was strong, but not as strong as Bella. She was getting ready to spray her venom when the mudwing yelled. "Glory no." He was running towards her. She flung her wing out to unbalance him. He jumped back and the rainwing, Glory, threw her off. She flicked her tail towards Calour while facing Glory. He got off the Seawing baring his teeth.
"We will be going." she hissed. "No one can stop us."
"I doubt that." Glory snarled as the seawing held Calour down again. Bella saw no chance here.
"Alright." she growled, raising her wings to surrender. She gave a nod to Calour who copied her. "It's fine." The seawing backed off giving a look at Calour.
"Who are you and who sent you?" Glory growled once again.
"Pfft," Bella scoffed. "No one sent us. We came here."
"I've never seen a rainwing fight like that." one of the other rainwings said.
She rolled her eyes. "I'm not a normal rainwing."
Glory raised an eyebrow. "A normal rainwing? What do you mean by that?"
"Unlike all you lazy fruit eaters I've been living my life to its fullest. I have traveled all over the continent and killed many dragons." she shot a glare at the seawing. She gave one back. "As for who we are, I'd rather not say." Bella lowered her wings and sat. Calour suddenly toppled over avoiding the mudwings talons.
"Clay stop." Glory said, sounding rather annoyed.
"Sorry," Clay stopped. "It's just. Well look at his scales. They look strange."
Calour sat up. "My scales have been this way forever. To me this is how I look."
Glory put a talon to her forehead. "We need to go find Starflight. Maybe he can tell us more on this subject."
"Sunny too. She might know something." Clay chimed in.
Glory sighed tiredly. "Follow me."
They did. They took off into the trees after Glory and the other rainwings. Clay and the seawing followed behind no doubt to make sure they didn't try to get away. They flew past more pavilions and platforms on the way there, and more huts with dragons hanging in hammocks. They flew for a little while longer than landed at a giant pavilion in what seemed to be the heart of the village. A nightwing was sitting with a small dragon. Maybe a sandwing or a rainwing dragonet trying to impersonate a sandwing. It was hard to tell, to be honest. All the sandwings she had fought looked pale and sandy. This one, if she was a sandwing, was a golden color. Her wings looked like a sunset.
The Nightwing dragonet turned around. His eyes looked as if he was longing for something. "How was the patrol-'' he cut off seeing Calour. "Um."
"Yes we know." the seawing rolled her eyes.
Bella and Calour landed and sat closer together away from the other dragons. She was glaring at everything making sure they were no threat to her or Calour. She barely noticed when the little golden dragon came up and peared at them. She looked at the little dragon. She seemed harmless. No tail barb or long fangs for venom. She was harmless.
"Sunny, get back." the nightwing said. She shot a glare at the nightwing and he kind of shriveled back. The golden dragon stepped back still oddly gazing at them.
"Why did you bring us here?" Bella said, sounding annoyed.
"We need to keep an eye on you while I try to figure things out." Glory let out a growl. "Starflight do we have anything to help with my chances?"
The nightwing took a shaky step. "Well you would need to talk with Mangrove or Kinkajou but I think you could really win."
"Of course she can win." the seawing let out. "She's Glory. One of the toughest dragons ever." The last part sounded a little sarcastic. Glory only rolled her eyes at it.
"Yes I know this but you're going up against a dragon who is older than you. Also she seems to have more support.`` They continued talking and arguing about this contest. Bella didn't know what it was or why Glory was doing it, only that she was bored.
"Hey." she whispered to Calour. "Are you ok?"
He looked over to her. "Yeah."
She looked back over to the dragonets. They were still talking with each other. "We need to find a way out of here."
He nodded. "It helps that they don't know our names."
"Yeah." She was getting a view of the forest floor. It was muddy and Colours scales didn't quite match the mud.
"Listen, I will get us out of here." she told him. "No matter what it takes."
He sighed. "So much for a little vacation huh."
She smiled. "Yeah."
"Fine, I will watch them." the nightwing said. "But I won't like it."
"I'll help you Starflight." The golden dragon chirped. The nightwing seemed to melt into her voice as she spoke.
"Thanks Sunny." Starflight smiled.
"Listen, me and Clay are gonna go talk with Mangrove again. Tsunami will be around if you need help." Glory spoke. They all agreed. Glory and Clay then took off towards a pavilion farther away. They could barely see through the trees.
Starflight looked around uncomfortably. "Umm."
"What's wrong?" Sunny asked him.
He lowered his voice into a whisper. Bella could still hear him though. "That rainwing looks about as angry as Tsunami did when Kestrel chained her to the stalagmite."
Sunny let out a giggle. "She does not. Tsunami was fuming at Kestrel. That dragon just looks… Hmm ok she does." Sunny started laughing.
Starflight gave a good natured growl. Bella continued looking around the rainforest. Her eyes caught on the leaves as they blew in the wind. The sweet smell of flowers and fruit still hung in her nose. She felt she could lie down and never wake up here. It was mesmerizing. She still loved her home though. In the mountain range where they would play hide and seek as young dragonets. She still had a home there. But a part of her was wondering if she could have a home here.
Sunny must have noticed the way she was watching the sky. She came over and looked at her oddly. She was looking at the long scar along her underbelly. It was usually hidden from view but because she was looking up dragons could see it if they looked closely.
"I used to know someone who had a scar like that." she said pointing to it. "Where did you get yours from?"
"Oh uh… If I remember correctly it was a skywing." she said thinking to herself. She had a few scars but some of them she couldn't remember which dragon gave it to her. "This one was actually from a shark. The one time I go swimming Calour isn't there to eat it." She said, holding out her talon.
Calour stiffened a laugh. "I was hanging on the beach. You didn't yell out at all, you just slammed your tail into the water. I thought you were fishing."
"I was not fishing." she smacked him with her tail lightly. "Although I did not call out sharks at all. I did, however, bite it really hard."
Starflight seemed to be edging closer as Sunny kept talking to them. "Where have you been?"
"Me and this big lug have been all over the content." she said, elbowing him. "We try not to go into the sky kingdom too much but we've been as far in the desert as you can get."
"Yeah. But I suppose now that Ruby's queen we could venture into it more. Less soldiers to run into." Calour said. Starflight seemed to stop at that. He looked at Sunny who looked at him in return. "Anyway." Calour continued, not noticing their look. "We've tried getting close in the Ice kingdom but man is it cold there."
"Yeah we really only stay where we live." she said. "I will sometimes go out and trade with the mudwings and sandwings." She then realized she still had her satchel. She looked in it making sure nothing was missing. She let out a sigh of relief seeing her mothers painting. She took it out along with the other treasures she took with them. She took out the gold coins she had and the gold inlaid necklace. She had also taken some of the scrolls they had. One was Calours favorite. It was about the Dragonets Of Destiny. Her favorite was the Nightwing Guide for all the dragons in Phyria. Even if she didn't believe the things about Nightwings she knew they had some of the facts about most of the dragons were right. She even modified it herself. The rainwings have venom and the cure to said venom. Also the cure to sandwing venom. What heals burns faster, what heals frost breath burns the best. What will help wounds heal faster and how most tribes attack.
Starflight saw the scrolls and his eyes lit up. He took a small step closer. "Can I see them?"
She looked at him then the scrolls. "Sure." She handed him some of the scrolls.
He looked at the Nightwing Guide then looked at her. "This isn't the original."
"Yeah I know," she replied. "I updated it of sorts. Attack patterns, healing wounds, that sort of stuff." she shrugged her shoulders.
"Hmm." he said looking through it. "Wow, I've never seen someone do this before."
"Well I figured it would be useful to update it to my own needs." she said thoughtfully. "Though I haven't met any Nightwings."
"No you have." Calour spoke up from his own scroll. "Remember? What was his name? He was the assassin you thought."
"Oh yeah." she looked at him. "Well he sure had the name for an assassin. His name was Deathbringer."
"Deathbringer?" Starflight asked. "We've met him before."
"Yeah." Sunny said. "He tried to kill Glory then Blaze. He almost succeeded."
"So your assumption was right." Calour said to Bella. "He was an assassin."
"Hmm some dragons you can just tell." she smiled. "I mean I think I would make an amazing assassin."
"Oh yes," Calour giggled. "Very good."
"Shush." she smacked him with her wing. He wound up laughing on the floor.
Sunny grabbed one of the scrolls and looked at it. Bella didn't realize it was her mothers picture. She was still laughing at Calour when Sunny asked. "Whos this?"
Bella looked over to Sunnys talons. The picture was fully out and Sunny and Starflight were looking at it. Sunny read what it said at the bottom out loud. "To my brave daughter Bella. I'm sorry for all the lies I've told you. I hope one day you'll know the truth."
Bella snatched it from them before they could look at eachother. "It's no one." She rolled it up carefully and set it into her satchel.
"Sorry." Sunny apologized. "We didn't mean to."
"No, it's ok." Bella sighed.
"Who was she?" Starflight asked.
"She was my mother."
"What happened to her?"
"She died. I don't know how."
Starflight and Sunny were quiet now, so was Calour. He knew the story about how she didn't know how her mother had died. All of a sudden Calour stomach let out a groan.
"Oh I suppose we didn't eat before we left." He said, staring at his claws.
"We brought the two rabbits and some fish. Want some?" She said handing him the net.
"Yeah." he said, grabbing one of the rabbits and two fish. She pulled out the other rabbit to eat as well.
"Wait, you eat meat?" Starflight said confused.
"Yeah." She said skeptical.
"Hm." he tapped his claw on the wood beneath them. "Strange. Glory eats meat but she prefers fruit."
"What's her deal anyway?" Calour said through a mouthful of fish.
"She's all stressed." Starflight explained. "She's challenging the queen."
Calour stopped eating. "Wait what?"
"Is she really doing that? I mean she's just a dragonet." Bella said thoughtfully. How could a dragonet beat a queen in battle?
"Yeah she's gonna beat Magnificent." Sunny chirped hopefully.
"Hm. Wait." Calour said thinking to himself.
"What is it?" she asked him.
He gasped. "I knew it."
"What?" she said as he tugged her closer so he could whisper.
"Think about this." He whispered. "One Nightwing, one Seawing, one Sandwing, one Mudwing. All that's missing is a skywing."
She hadn't thought about that. All she knew was that these dragons seemed to be friends. But now that he said it it pieced together in her mind. "Of course. I didn't think about that. It makes sense."
Starflight and Sunny were talking about Glorys chances and didn't notice Calour and Bella's secret conversation. They were saying how Glory may have been slower in the rainforest but has more stamina for flying. Also something about how they all grew up in a cave. This intrigued her but she was more focussed on what Calour had said. She grabbed one of the empty scrolls and took out a vile of ink. She started writing down the connections she made in her head. Calour watched her and nodded his head. It looked as though he had made these connections as well.
"Wait if they are The Dragonets Of Destiny where is the skywing?" she asked Calour. Starflight must have heard her because he pulled Sunny over to whisper. She didn't care. She also saw an opportunity. She nudged Calour and shot a look over the edge. He nodded his head then looked at Starflight and Sunny. He gave her a look and shook his head. He wanted to stay. Of all things he wanted to stay. She nodded and sat there thinking. Are they the dragonets of destiny or are they some random dragons who are friends. Her scales turned to a dark royal blue with splotches of maroon.
Sunny looked over at the new colors that appeared on Bella's scales. Calour sighed and stepped away. He knew that this was her thinking faze where colors would splash across her scales as she went into deep thought. It was almost like an unconscious state where she would move around without knowing. Suddenly the maroon was gone replacing it with bronze gold. The blue turned to a bright green.
"Ahh." Starflight said, blocking his eyes.
"Yeah I try to stay away from her when she does this." Calour said backing away.
"How often does she do this?" Sunny asked.
"About once a week." Calour replied.
"Once a week?" Starflight asked. "Like this?"
"Yeah."
Her scales shifted to a light blue. Her spines turned to a light purple with some golden splotches. Her eyes blinked. She looked at Calour. "I figured it out."
"What?" he asked. "What do you mean?"
She turned her head towards Starflight and Sunny. "They are The Dragonets Of Destiny. I think Glory is one too. Something must have happened to the Skywing so they needed another dragonet so they got a Rainwing."
Sunny gave her a look then looked at Starflight. Starflight looked so confused. "How did you figure that out?" Sunny asked.
"Well it only took a few things to put it together. One; four dragonets in the prophecy are here together. Two; Calour helped."
"Hm. That seems reasonable." Starflight said.
Calour let out a sigh. "I'm not going to lie, this was not the vacation I was expecting."
"I know right." Bella let out a small laugh. "I would just like to go home and do some patrolling." Bella sat with her tail curled around her back talons. Home. That's where she wanted to go. But what if the rainforest could be her home? Could she live with her tribe?
I Might be writing more of this but I'm not completely sure.
