'This is a little weird.' Thought Uraraka, as she was being carried to the nurses office by Izuku. Granted, she liked being carried by him, but after the initial surprise wore off, she worried what would happen if his girlfriends saw them like this. She didn't want to be the one causing a problem between the three of them.
"So, how do you think you did in the exam?" Asked Izuku kindly, failing to pick up on Uraraka's inner turmoil.
"Huh? Oh, I'm not sure to be honest. I got about 38 points, which I don't think would have happened if you hadn't helped me so much today." Answered Uraraka, a little down that she couldn't get more points. If only she didn't get involved with the zero-pointer.
"All I did this morning was pay you back for practically saving me and Mei. After that, all we did was have a nice chat before the exam started." Said Izuku with a smile that Uraraka could only describe as warm and radiant.
"But it helped more than you know! Not only did you prevent me from doing the exam hungry, but you helped calm me down." She said resolutely, refusing to let him play down his part.
"Well I'm glad I was able to help. Just remember, you're the one who took the exam. You deserve the credit." Replied Izuku, not noticing the silent sigh Uraraka let out. She figured that was going to be the best she would get.
Looking around a bit, Uraraka noticed how sure Izuku seemed to be as he walked. "You seem to know where the nurse's office is. Has your mom brought you to the school before?" Asked Uraraka, wanting to get to know her rescuer a bit more.
"The staff and their families live on campus actually, so Recovery Girl has pretty much been my primary doctor since moving here. They put it as close to the hero training facilities as possible, while still keeping it close to the support studio." Explained Izuku.
Uraraka's immediate instinct was to question why it had to be close to the support studio, until she remembered exactly the kind of stuff they build in there, and the tools they use. "I imagine she's kept quite busy. Especially on days like today." She responded thoughtfully.
"Thankfully they call in extra doctors for the entrance exam. We just happened to get granny at our site." Responded Izuku, leaving out how the chances of it being a coincidence were basically zero. Though the thought of her choosing his site did make him smile. "But yeah, she's not a fan of the entrance exam. She hates seeing anyone hurt, but she has extra contempt for the entrance exam since it's dangerous and almost every examinee has zero training for such scenarios."
"I don't blame her." Responded Uraraka exasperated. "Robots attacking us, which included missiles and a giant robot massive enough to topple buildings like toy bricks. I'm lucky the rubble just got my foot rather than landing on my head! That's not even adding the fact that it almost ran over me!" She said, sounding more and more frustrated as she realized how close the test came to killing her.
Her anger rose when she heard Izuku chuckle.
"I know how it looks from an outside perspective, but our lives were never on the line." Responded Izuku, confusing the seething girl. "I realized it after noticing how quickly Recovery Girl got to you. We were a good distance away from the entrance, meaning someone told her about your injury and she entered while the exam was still going on." He said, giving Uraraka a reassuring smile. "While I don't have all the facts, I do know there are fail-safes in the robots to protect people's lives. So, while they do attack us, they'd stop short of hurting us too much, and protect if need be. I learned that from uncle Powerloader, when he was grumbling about making so many robots since he had to make sure the program was installed correctly. I've heard Uncle Nezu say many times that his students' safety is his number one priority. There's no doubt that includes examinees. Besides, if every entrance exam was that dangerous, then we would have heard about someone getting killed over the years."
Uraraka mulled over his words. He wasn't wrong, UA has a near spotless reputation. The only blotch is their selection of teachers, and that's more peoples' personal opinions rather than a problem. "Then why let us believe we were in danger?" She asked just thinking out loud.
"If I had to guess, to reveal everyone's true nature." Responded Izuku, his smile being replaced with an unhappy frown.
"What do you mean?" Asked Uraraka, worried about Izuku's sudden shift in mood.
"Most heroes nowadays only care about themselves. They fight for fame, glory, thrill, and/or money. Don't get me wrong, as long as they're doing good, I don't see much issue with those things. It's when it becomes their entire reason for being a hero that it becomes a problem. People have died because a hero was trying to show off, or because they ignored the situation since it wouldn't get them much, if anything. There have even been reports of heroes waiting at active crime scenes for news crews." Replied Izuku, his expression deadly serious.
"I get that, but what does that have to do with the exam?" Asked Uraraka, a little confused, but also worried about how he would feel about her personal reasons for becoming a hero.
"Everyone wears a mask, some to cover mental or physical disabilities, some because they're ashamed of something, or they might have a darkness in them they don't want everyone to see. But when you believe your life is in danger, the mask slips." Said Izuku unflinchingly. "Some would put others in harm's way to save themselves, while others might freeze as panic sets in. Heroes are there to save lives and protect people, while UA strives to train the best. If they can't act properly in a controlled environment, there's no way they would do better when lives are actually on the line. So they probably want to know if they need to correct some issues early on, or outright bar them if they did something really bad."
Izuku's footsteps echoed down the corridor as Uraraka mulled over his words, and they worried her. The conversation took a darker turn than she expected, and his expression showed he had some personal experience in the subject. She wanted to know more, but felt it wasn't her place to pry.
"That makes sense, dealing with the issue early makes it easier to handle. Even UA graduates in the top ten still settle small crimes all the time. Most heroes aiming for the top tend to only focus on big problems." Said Uraraka, looking thoughtful when suddenly an idea to hopefully cheer up Izuku came to mind. "But I guess they won't have to worry about that with you. If you realized that after the exam was over, that means your true nature is to protect people. That, combined with your powerful quirk, pretty much guarantees you a high ranking." She praised, happy when she saw his smile return.
"I'm actually not worried about my ranking, I just want to save people. Besides, my quirk has a drawback that most people look down on." Responded Izuku as he carefully opened the door to the nurse's office.
Uraraka wanted to ask what he meant, but the sight before them derailed that plan. "Mei! Kinoko! Are you two alright!?" Asked Izuku in a panic when he saw Mei in one of the beds with Kinoko sitting next to her. His emotions were running so high, he forgot to set Uraraka down in a bed before rushing over to them.
It also prevented him from processing their amused smiles.
"Oh it's no big deal, just some bruising and a small hit to the head." Replied Mei with a dismissive wave of the hand.
Izuku physically relaxed hearing that, but Kinoko looked at her deadpan. "Mei, you were on top of a collapsing building. Twice. You had to jump through the window on the other side of the street injuring your shoulder in the process." She sighed, sounding mentally drained.
"WHAT?!?" Screamed both Uraraka and Izuku.
"See!? They reacted the exact same way." Said Kinoko, gesturing to the two while looking at Mei, a bit annoyed.
"Meh, good practice for if I'm involved in an active disaster." Responded Mei casually, mentally laughing at the dumbfounded looks of both Uraraka and Izuku. "Good news is my baby worked well in the field! Just need to make a few improvements!" Said Mei excitedly.
Uraraka kept staring incredulously while Izuku just let out a sigh, already used to his girlfriend's shenanigans. Realizing he should set Uraraka down, he put her in the bed next to Mei's, noticing a long black case next to her bed. "Is that the baby? Can I take a look?" He asked, pointing to the case.
"Yup! That's it! And go ahead! It's been difficult keeping it a secret for so long!" Said Mei eagerly.
After picking up the case and noticing its weight, Izuku sat down to open the case on his lap, allowing Uraraka to see inside as well. Kinoko walked up as well to see inside, having been told to wait for Izuku to see.
All three of their jaws dropped when he opened the case, revealing the most unique rifle they have ever seen. "This is what you used?" Asked Izuku stupefied, getting a huge nod and smile from Mei. "What caliber is this thing? Those robots were pretty sturdy."
"It's any caliber I want! Took awhile to get the settings just right for each known caliber. Didn't have time to add all the features I wanted, but they gave me special rounds to shut them down, so it still worked out." Said Mei excitedly "But once I can finally use UA's support lab, I can add all the upgrades I want!" She said with stars in her eyes. Izuku and Kinoko could easily see how much she'd been holding back with how fast she was talking.
A gentle smile appeared on Izuku's face. He loved Mei's passion for her inventions, he could listen to her talk about them all day. "Well it does match in theme with your quirk. But are you sure about becoming a hero? I've never heard you talk about being one." Asked Izuku, sounding a bit worried.
Mei shot Izuku with a loving, reassuring smile. "Yes I am. I didn't say anything because I wanted to prove I can become one before telling you. I knew how you'd act if I failed." She replied. Giving Izuku a look when he opened his mouth to argue, making him shut it. "Besides, while your quirk analysis helps a ton, what better way to test my babies and get ideas for new ones than testing them in the field myself!" She exclaimed, her excitement returning.
"That does sound like a good idea. Experience is the best teacher." Said Uraraka, having regained her senses. "But what do you mean by quirk analysis?"
Izuku's face flushed red from embarrassment, telling his girlfriends they would need to explain it themselves. "Izuku enjoys analyzing quirks. He's really good at it too. He helped me discover aspects of my quirk I never thought of." Answered Kinoko.
"But he's shy about it. We tell him all the time that there's nothing to be embarrassed about, and there's no harm in asking someone about their quirk." Continued Mei when an idea struck her. "Thinking about it, we never asked you about your quirk. Would it be ok to ask about it?"
Uraraka was confused, as far as she had experienced, people were pretty open about their quirks. It was such a common subject, some so prideful of theirs they explain it during introductions. So, it was a bit weird finding someone who would be shy about it. But despite seeing stars in his eyes, his body language and lack of eye contact told her it was true. "Sure, I don't mind. My quirk is Zero Gravity. Any object I touch with all five fingers loses its gravity and starts floating. But too much weight or using it on myself makes me nauseous." She explained, smiling at the excited look in Izuku's eyes. He was practically vibrating, looking like he was holding himself back.
Of course Mei knew Izuku would hold back, but her plan didn't take something into account. Her own social skills. "Ooohhh I can think of so many babies to help with that already! Let's exchange numbers and we could set up a demonstration!" Said Mei eagerly, her manic inventor side making an appearance, as Kinoko physically stopped her from invading Uraraka's personal space.
Stunned by the sudden proposal, Uraraka responded without really thinking. "Um sure, I don't have my phone on me but I'll just write it down for you and you can text me yours." She said, somewhat looking for something to write with. But she soon fully realized what was being proposed and tripled her efforts. Mei and Izuku were fun to hang and talk with, and Kinoko seemed much the same, so she'd love to strike up a friendship with them. Even if they all didn't get in, they could still talk to each other.
"You'll find pens and a notepad on my desk over there, you're free to use them." Said Recovery Girl as she walked in, her smile could only be described as grandmotherly. She had overheard part of the conversation, and she hoped this would lead to the four of them becoming friends. While Izuku's, Mei's, and Kinoko's relationship was wholesome and adorable, she believes they could use some more friends before they develop an unhealthy codependency. And from what she was told over the mic, Kinoko is well on her way to making another friend as well.
After Uraraka gave her number to Mei, Recovery Girl looked both of them over. After a quick x-ray, Recovery Girl found her foot had fully healed. Mei on the other hand still had a minor concussion and there were a couple hairline fractures on her collarbone near the shoulder that got hurt. Since Mei was such a ball of energy on the regular, healing her was no problem. Though with everything from the last 24 hours catching up to her, she was ready to call it a day and just relax.
As if waiting for this moment, as soon as the two were told they were free to go the door burst open. Before anyone even had a chance to react, Izuku, Kinoko, And Mei found themselves being squeezed to death by Nejire. "Omg you guys did amazing! You three were so cool and brave out there! I can't wait to be your upperclassman, we can eat at the cafeteria together! Do more advanced training! Oh! We can….!" Spouted of Nejire quickly, listing more and more school activities.
Confused by the sight in front of her, Uraraka watched, weirdly fascinated by what was happening. As Nejire continued talking, another person appeared in the doorway looking frantic. Uraraka couldn't help but notice the woman seemed to be wearing a rather lazily designed hero costume. "Nejire! I told you we would wait for them at the apartment!" Said Shoka.
Without releasing her grip, Nejire pouted at the woman. "Muu! I just wanted to congratulate them on their performance sensei. Ow!" She said before getting hit on the head by Recovery Girl's cane.
"Put them down before you hurt them! Mei still needs bed rest!" Scolded Recovery Girl, making Nejire sheepishly put them down.
Shoka signed deeply while pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. "You were told before the exam you can't even hint towards how they did." She nearly growled, making Nejire sheepishly poke her fingers together. Knowing how the girl is, the woman decided to leave it there and walked up to the three, wrapping Izuku up in a hug once he was within arms reach. "I'm so proud of you. We hadn't seen someone take out the zero-pointer with one attack in a long time." She praised, her words causing Mei and Kinoko to do a spit take.
"You took down the zero pointer!?" Mei and Kinoko yelled simultaneously.
"Yeah, Uraraka was hurt, and I acted on instinct. Next thing I knew I stopped it in its tracks." Sheepishly explained Izuku.
"Wow! You must have burned through a lot of attar, but you'd think we would have seen your attack with how big that thing was." Said Kinoko, both impressed and confused.
Before anyone could continue, they were disrupted by the sounds of Izuku's stomach growling, quickly followed by the three other test takers' stomachs growling in solidarity. Shoka couldn't help but laugh. She should have expected it after everything. "Come on, we'll discuss this later, let's get something to eat. You're free to join us, Mei and Kinoko." She said kindly.
Mei and Kinoko quickly agreed to come over, but Izuku remembered something he was told this morning. So he whispered in his mom's ear, who looked towards Uraraka before giving her son a smile and nodded her head. "Hey Uraraka. You wanna join? We can drop you off at your place later." Offered Izuku with a welcoming smile.
Despite her desire to agree, Uraraka didn't want to be a burden. "I'll be fine! You just enjoy yourself with your friends and family."
Shoka looked the girl up and down. Her years of hero experience really gave her a perceptive eye. She can even tell how expensive the clothing someone is wearing is, despite her lack of interest in fashion, and right now her experience is telling her that the girl came from a poor family. And if Izuku is willing to invite her, she must be a kind person. So she walked up to Uraraka, giving a welcoming smile. "You don't have to worry about us, you're more than welcome to come to our place. Besides, if Izuku is inviting you, that means you're his friend as well, right?" She said, giving Uraraka a look that told her to just accept.
Looking over at the others, all of them were giving Uraraka a welcoming smile. Even Nejire who she'd never met, though there was a look in her eye she couldn't identify. "Um, yeah, sure. Thank you very much for having me." She said while bowing.
Making their way back to the Aizawa apartment, Nejire bombarded Izuku, Mei, and Kinoko with questions about some of the stuff they saw. She was talking so much they never had a chance to ask why she was watching the exam. This left Uraraka walking with Shoka, feeling a bit awkward. "So, I'm guessing you're Izuku's sister?" She asked, trying to fill the silence.
"Actually I'm his mother." Responded Shoka, smiling at the dumbstruck look on Uraraka's face.
"But, you two don't look all that alike. Does he get his looks from his dad?" She asked, feeling a bit more comfortable.
"I honestly don't know. I won't go into details as it's his story to tell, but he's adopted. I've never met his birth parents. He doesn't really talk about them, and I won't push." Said Shoka, watching Uraraka as she looked towards Izuku with a saddened look on her face. "Uraraka, can I ask a small favor?" She asked, getting said girls attention. "Izuku didn't have the best childhood. Many people rejected and looked down on him because of his quirk, judging him without knowing him. So while I would like it if you two became friends, just please do right by him if you can't look past it yourself and let him down gently."
Looking back towards Izuku, Uraraka was confused. She'd seen his quirk, what part would make people look down on him? What was so bad he was constantly rejected? "I've never liked quirk discrimination. Someone's quirk doesn't determine their worth or character. So I promise that if for some reason we can't be friends, I'll be kind and respectful about it." She responded resolutely.
Before Shoka could respond, Nejire appeared in front of Uraraka with her energetic smile. "Uraraka right? Come on! I want to ask about your quirk." She said rapidly, pulling Uraraka forward before she could even say anything. Shoka just smiled, watching silently. She hoped this was a sign that Izuku's life will be a happy one.
What Shoka didn't tell them was that Mei's parents and Kinoko's mom were invited over as a sort of celebration for their kids finishing the exam. Or console them if needed. After the parents congratulated them, Uraraka included, the adults started cooking dinner, leaving the five to hang out and relax.
"So Aizawa, what is your quirk anyway? I saw you do a lot of stuff that doesn't seem to have any obvious correlation." Asked Uraraka curious, her talk with Shoka still on her mind. Her curiosity skyrocketed when Izuku stiffened up.
Izuku debated on what to say. He could see Mei, Kinoko, and Nejire give him worried glances. Deciding it'd be best to be a bit more open about his quirk, since he would have to tell his future classmates anyway, he decided to bite the bullet. "My quirk is called Incubus. It gives me several abilities that I'm still discovering, but look demonic in nature." He said, but paused when he saw Uraraka's thoughtful expression.
"Hmmmm, yeah I can see that. But why Incubus in specific? There are many types of demons." Asked Uraraka.
Taking a deep breath, Izuku attempted to calm his nerves. He always hated explaining this part. "It's because my quirk requires a resource to function. Female pheromones to be exact, but I named it attar." He hastily explained.
Uraraka took a few seconds thinking about what she was just told when her face exploded in crimson. "Wait, so you have to….. you know, to use your quirk?" Asked a flustered Uraraka, gesturing towards Mei and Kinoko.
Catching on quickly, a blush appeared on Izuku's and Kinoko's faces as well, while Mei just smiled blissfully. "No no no, it just has to be direct skin contact. There's a few things that affect how much I receive, but mutual desire is required for it to work. So it doesn't work with just anyone." He said frantically, but when he stopped with his expression turning serious, all but Uraraka knew what was coming. And while Mei and Kinoko understood there was a potential for backlash, only Nejire knew to stay on guard just in case. "But there is something about it you should know about. An ability I have that doesn't require attar." He said seriously.
Seeing his sudden shift put Uraraka on edge. So far his quirk sounded unconventional, but not bad, so she worried about what she was about to hear. "What is it?" She asked worriedly.
Deciding to just rip off the bandaid, Izuku didn't hesitate. "It's called gaze of lust. Using this power when making direct eye contact will make the target feel overwhelming sexual desire towards me. But it's something I refuse to use." Answered Izuku, staring at his feet as he wasn't brave enough to look at Uraraka.
The other three girls watched Uraraka to gauge her reaction, though Nejire was far more subtle about it. As Uraraka thought about what she was just told, she saw where others looked down on him. That ability was a rapist's dream power. And with the fact that it would also give him more power at the same time, many villains would kill for such a quirk.
But that in no way means Uraraka agreed with the viewpoint. As she said earlier, quirks don't determine someone's character. Besides, any quirk could be used for villainy, and to say otherwise is just foolish. "Your quirk certainly is unique, and while collecting the pheromones may be enjoyable, it sounds exhausting having to stockpile all the time." Responded Uraraka, hoping her casual response would tell him she didn't judge him, and judging by his surprised expression it worked.
A laugh escapes Izuku's throat, but not out of humor, but in relief. Telling people was still extremely difficult, so having someone accept him always felt like a dream every time it happens. "You're not wrong there. I burned through all I had in my last attack, which dwarfed how much I used during the rest of the exam. It took over a week with very little training and a lot of free time to collect that much." He replied.
Once the words left Izuku's mouth, Kinoko's jaw dropped while Mei started coughing, having choked on her own spit in surprise. "You went through over two hundred thousand attar in ten minutes!?" Yelled Mei in surprise.
Not long after there was a small bang from the kitchen, Shoka came out not long after, her face a little flush. She grumbled something inaudible, while Mrs. Hatsume could be heard laughing uproariously in the kitchen. "So that answers how you performed such a powerful attack, but what was it?" Asked Shoka, getting everyone's attention on Izuku.
"It's called Merciless Collapse, I only discovered it a few days ago while experimenting with my quirk. The best way to describe it is I create a zone the size and shape of my choosing. Choose a point within the zone and increase the gravity in the area, with the point I chose being the epicenter. There are several factors for attar use. Size and strength of the gravity are factors, but the further away the zone is from me, the more it costs as well. Thankfully size isn't the biggest factor, but I was still only able to multiply the gravity by twenty-five." Explained Izuku.
"Oh that move!" Exclaimed Mei excitedly. "You were able to defeat the zero pointer with it? No wonder you burned through all your attar. But why didn't you just fire a beam at it? It probably would have cost less."
"Because it was the safest option." Answered Izuku, getting confused looks from Mei, Kinoko, and Uraraka, but it looked like Nejire and his mom saw where he was going with this. "I had no idea where everyone was at, so using a beam would have risked hitting someone. Any piece that remained could fall on someone. So even if I somehow got underneath it to fire straight up, I might not have even had the attar to create a beam big enough to fully destroy every bit. And going underneath would have also risked Uraraka's safety, which I wasn't about to do. So I had to defeat it while keeping risks at the minimum." He explained.
The three girls looked at him gobsmacked that he had so much forethought, while Nejire and Shoka both looked extremely proud. Most first years struggle with keeping damage and risk minimized, yet here was Izuku doing it with ease. They definitely had high hopes for him.
After the conversation, Shoka went back to helping prepare dinner. And oh the dinner they prepared. Uraraka had almost passed out from the amount of food that was made, especially with how it was obviously not made from the cheapest ingredients they could find. It took some coaxing to get her to eat her fill. And even more to get her to take some leftovers with her, but Shoka was adamant about her taking some.
As promised, the Hatsume's got Izuku's car back and offered to take Uraraka back themselves. While she was hesitant to get into the car of people she barely knew, the fact that they were family friends of a hero that works at UA put her mind at ease.
One thing did concern Izuku though. Before Mei and Kinoko left, they spent some time whispering and giggling with each other, taking the occasional glance at him. As they kissed him goodbye, they told him they were ok with it, and to do what he wants. This confused him greatly, he had zero clue what they were talking about.
When they all left, only Nejire remained, and the smile Shoka gave him as she made an excuse to leave the two alone made him more concerned. He didn't feel in danger, but he was definitely on edge.
Slowly Nejire floated over to Izuku looking shy, and oddly enough at a loss for words. "Izuku I….. I just wanted to tell you.,.. no, I wanted to ask…. Dang it, That's not it either. Ugh! Screw it!" Said Nejire, looking more and more aggravated with herself. Only to launch herself at Izuku, wrapping her arms around his neck and planting a kiss on him.
Izuku's first instinct was to shoot his hands up to show he wasn't touching her. His mind short circuited as he panicked, worried about what others would think if they saw them, especially Mei and Kinoko. He was unable to process the familiar yet unique feeling of attar flowing into him. It felt wild with zero direction, but also warm and comforting.
Before Izuku could separate from Nejire, she released him. "I'm sorry. It's just that I love you, and I didn't know how to explain it. This is all new to me, I mean sure I've dated before, but I've never felt this way before. You're just so kind and caring, insanely smart, braver than anyone I know…." She rambled, pacing as she talked, looking more and more flustered.
As Izuku watched Nejire list off what she likes about him, his mind finally rebooted as a realization struck him, making him laugh which made Nejire stop in her tracks, looking hurt. "Is me confessing really that funny? Am I not good enough?" She asked in a small voice.
Izuku stopped laughing immediately after hearing that. "No no no no no. I'm sorry, it's just you reminded me of myself when I admitted my feelings to Mei and Kinoko. I freaked out myself, so I just found the role reversal funny." He said, giving her a reassuring smile. He hated that he unintentionally hurt her and hoped it didn't damage their relationship. He was relieved when Nejire started giggling.
"You? Freak out? No way, never." Said Nejire sarcastically, making them both laugh, breaking the tension.
After calming down, Izuku thought about what was happening. He thought he'd already used a whole lifetime of luck when he started dating Mei and Kinoko, now another beautiful girl was confessing to him. It was surreal. He honestly didn't know how to answer yet. "So is this what Mei and Kinoko were referring to earlier?" He asked politely, trying to buy time.
"Yeah it was. When I saw you three on your date, I realized my feelings for you. So I talked with both of them, asking them if I could join since I didn't want to step on their toes or hurt them. But I decided to hold off until you finished the entrance exam. I told them I was going to confess once everyone left." She admitted, some shyness poking through.
Unintentionally Izuku let out a tired sigh, but started worrying that it would hurt Nejire again. "Sorry, it's just I need to talk to them about these constant blindsides." He said, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
Nejire smiled at Izuku, seeing another quality that made her love him more. "Communication is key in a relationship, as well as the ability to set up boundaries. It's good to see you have those parts down."
"A year ago I definitely wouldn't have said anything, but I've had a lot of help finding my voice. It helps that I know they aren't being malicious, but it is causing me a lot of stress." Admitted Izuku with a tired smile.
"I can see why, that would stress most people out, I can't imagine how hard it would be with your mental health." Said Nejire, with a reassuring smile, before blushing and being unable to look him in the eye. "So what do you say? Can we be together?" She asked.
Izuku remained silent for a bit, still trying to get his thoughts in order. Nejire glanced at him and saw his thoughtful expression, so she remained silent to give him time to think. "Right now, I can't say yes or no. I hadn't given any thought to if something like this happened because I never expected it to happen. So I don't fully know my own feelings." He said.
Nejire smiled sadly, understanding where he was coming from. She just didn't like not having an answer to such an important question. "But maybe we could go on a date? See how it turns out and if it's what we both want?" He asked. The large smile that appeared on her face made his heart skip a beat.
In her excitement, Nejire tackled Izuku in a hug. "I'd love to! I can't wait!" She exclaimed happily.
Hearing the commotion, Shoka rushed back into the living room in a panic, only to smile smugly seeing the two. "So the confession went well?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yup! We have a date to plan!" Said Nejire happily, squeezing Izuku tight.
Seeing the smile and blush on her son's face really made Shoka happy. Seeing him now, she knew adopting him was one of the best decisions of her life. Not only did it save his life, her coworkers/friends and family have all told her she looks healthier herself now. And despite the fact that she would never admit it, she felt better too, even noticing combat was easier. And it was all thanks to changing her lifestyle for Izuku. Though she considered her health far less important.
"I have an early start tomorrow, so I'm going to bed. Don't stay up too late." Said Shoka as she made her way back to her room. And if she was being honest, she wasn't looking forward to work the next few days. Setting up the exam is hard, but much easier than reviewing all the applicants. And while she's always happy to see the secondary test get used, it always made the workload so much bigger.
A few days later*
"Why do so many little shits think they have a chance at getting into UA?" Grumbled Shoka as she tossed another file into the reject pile. All the scoring had been completed, and all that was left was for the teachers to pick their students. Vlad had already finished his top picks, but Shoka was always the more strict of the two.
She was thankful that the score wasn't the final determining factor. She was fine with some bad behavior. That can be corrected. But she didn't care if someone was in the top fourty, she wasn't going to allow anyone who had seventeen sexual harassment allegations in the last year alone into her classroom.
Vlad didn't want someone like that in his classroom either, but was willing to put in the work to try and reform them. She admired him for it, but she didn't have as much faith in humanity as he did. Kinda comes with the turf of being an underground hero.
"Usually because they never faced proper discipline." Came a voice that Shoka immediately identified as Nezu's.
"True, way too many parents excuse their kids' terrible behavior." Groaned Shoka as she rubbed her eyes with the palms of her hands. She internally sighed when she heard Nezu sit next to her and a stack of papers put on the table. She really didn't want to look through more files. "So you have more files for me to look through?" She rhetorically asked as she eyed the thankfully small stack. And by the looks of it, it was only 2 files, but one was strangely thick.
"I do, but how has your student selection been going? Find any good candidates?" Asked Nezu politely.
"A few actually. Sadly there weren't a lot of good candidates from the secondary test, but three of them really stood out to me. They're very rough around the edges, but I think they have potential. I've also already had to tell Vlad that Utsushimi is mine. The way she used her non combative quirk was phenomenal, and from what I've heard from Kinoko, she already understands her quirks weak points. Aside from that, I saw a few diamonds in the rough." Exclaimed Shoka, glad to have a short break from reading files.
"Excellent! I've already talked with Vlad, and he agrees we have a good candidate pool this year. Now this isn't an order, but I do have a suggestion for your class list. Vlad agreed to go along with it, if you agreed." Said Nezu as he handed over the thick file.
This confused Shoka greatly. Nezu's made some suggestions in the past, but never an entire class list. So she curiously started looking through the files, spotting quite a few that were already in her acceptance pile, while the rest all looked to be good picks as well. But as she continued looking she noticed a theme. "You can't be serious. Do you know how much backlash this could cause?" She asked incredulously.
"Of course I do! And I accept it! But I also believe it has a lot of potential for good. I'm sure if you think about it, you'd see it." Said Nezu in his chipper tone, but Shoka could tell it wasn't his forced version.
Looking through the files again, Shoka tried to see what Nezu was getting at when it struck her as she looked at her son's file again. "I see your point. But how would we even justify it?" She asked, wondering what her admittedly scary boss has in mind. Nezu didn't say anything, simply slid the other file over to Shoka. Looking at the file, the plan was obvious.
"We at UA believe in reform. But we also do what we can to protect our students, including from other students. This was the best solution for everybody involved." Said Nezu like he was at a press conference. "I have thought up every possible argument, and rebuttal anyone could make." He said, as Shoka re-read the file. The kid was already in her "hard no" pile, and if she had it her way, they would be blacklisted. But she had to admit, it was a solid plan, and if it worked out, would provide a lot of benefits. "As I said, this isn't an order, I just ask you to give it some thought."
Sighing deeply as she ran her hand through her hair, she could already predict the upcoming headaches they will have to deal with. But she believed it would all be worth it, and that Nezu could handle any backlash they face. She was scared of him at times, but wouldn't hesitate putting her life in his hands. "Let's do it." She said simply.
"Excellent! I'll get started on the paperwork and inform the production crew who had been selected." Said Nezu as he hopped off the chair, making his way to the door, only to stop just before exiting. "Oh and Aizawa. I promise, if this ends up going awry I will shoulder any and all blame." He said with conviction, just before shutting the door.
Shoka smiled as she opened the file again, looking at the picture of her son. Seeing his bright smile, she thanked Nezu. He already helped so much, more than she believes she could ever repay. Including saving her from looking through more files.
Meanwhile*
"Uuuhhgggg why is this so hard?" Groaned Izuku, as he face-planted the table. He was currently sitting in his kitchen with Mei and Kinoko. They had recently gotten back from hanging out with Ochako and Camie. It was the first time the five hung out together, and everyone was hitting it off really well.
Though Izuku did spend much of the time blushing as Camie was quick to drop compliments. At first she was a bit flirty, but she respected Izuku's boundaries. Turns out she also took the Shiketsu exam, but said it wasn't as impressive as UA's. In fact she didn't even want to go to Shiketsu, but her parents forced her to take the exam.
The place was too strict for her liking, as they focused on creating their ideal heroes as opposed to UA's more freestyle methods of creating the best heroes their students can be. Since her parents are the suit and tie, 'never be different' types, that strictness is why they wanted her to go to Shiketsu. Thankfully they can't decide which school she attends for her.
Ochako even opened up about her motives for becoming a hero. She worried they would hate her and call her greedy, but found nothing but praise. Instead they called her thoughtful, told her that wanting to support her parents was generous. It almost became an emotional moment, as tears pricked her eyes, but she kept her emotions under control.
The five had fun hanging at the park, even hitting up the arcade. (Though it took a lot of convincing for Ochako to let Izuku give her money to play.) But now the three were back, and Izuku needed help planning the date with Nejire.
And all three of them were stumped.
Izuku tried planning the date with Nejire, but she requested they both choose something to do and keep it a surprise. He got the afternoon, she got the evening.
It wasn't like they knew nothing about Nejire, she just wasn't consistent. They'd seen her pick up so many different hobbies and interests since they met her, that they outnumbered all three of theirs combined. Hell, she once tried to pick up beekeeping, but that got quickly shut down after someone accidentally ran into it while training and got swarmed.
Thankfully the guy's quirk was more defensive, but he still ended up getting stung quite a few times.
Izuku even asked Mirio, Amajiki, and Yuyu for suggestions, but they weren't much help. Best he got was Yuyu telling him just take her to do something fun, she'll love it no matter what. Good general advice, but it didn't solve the immediate problem.
"Yeah, I really have no idea how to help with this one." Admitted Mei as she leaned back with her hands behind her head. She was happy to see the confession went well. When she first noticed Nejire's feelings, well, when Kinoko told her about them, she was ecstatic. She doesn't care how many girls Izuku dated, as long as he still gives her attention. And she rather liked Nejire, she was interesting, and smarter than she lets on. Her imagination even gave birth to several babies, and many more still in the works.
"Maybe instead of focusing on her hobbies and interests, we focus more on what would make the date memorable?" Suggested Kinoko. She did have some mixed feelings on the idea of Izuku dating Nejire. It's not that she didn't like her, she actually considered her a close friend. No, it was due to her own insecurities. She may have become more confident, but she always considered herself to be pretty plain. The only physically unique thing about her was her eyes, and even then, she'd been made fun of for them in the past. So much so that it gave her a complex. One that Izuku and Mei helped her with. Thankfully when they had the conversation about improving their communication, and the date, Izuku was able to assure her that he didn't view her as less than or plain, and would never neglect her.
"But how do you make something memorable when they've probably done half the things you can do in Japan?" Izuku asked genuinely.
Suddenly Mei jumped to her feet while slamming her hands on the table, startling the other two. "That's it! It's like with one of my babies! When you encounter a problem, sometimes the solution is much simpler than you think it is. Why do a full system overhaul when you just need to air up the tires." She said, stunning the two. They don't remember Mei ever going with the simple solution. But the advice was still sound.
"So you're saying that this isn't as complicated as we're making it out to be?" Izuku asked no one in particular as he pulled on his lip while thinking.
Suddenly, an idea came to him, making him feel stupid. It was moments like this that his lack of life experience really showed.
Timeskip*
"Where are we going? Is it something fun? Something interesting?" Rapidly asked Nejire, gearing up for a million question onslaught. The two were in Izuku's car as he drove them to the place Izuku chose.
"I thought you said you wanted it to be a surprise?" Asked Izuku amusedly. He had gotten a little advice from his aunt Midnight about where to take Nejire for his idea. Though he did make sure to ask her when his mom was around so she wouldn't suggest a hook-up spot.
"I do, but I also wanna know!" Whined Nejire playfully, getting a chuckle from Izuku.
Taking what he thought to be a risk, Izuku grabbed hold of Nejire's hand. "You'll know soon enough. We're almost there." He said, smiling as he felt Nejire interlock their fingers. When he glanced her way, the smile she gave him could only be described as radiant. He hated that he had to focus on the road right now.
The drive wasn't far, just a couple miles out of town where they could park somewhere that if you didn't know was there, would be easily missed. Once his car was locked up, he popped open the trunk, pulling out a well put together picnic basket. He could hear Nejire gasp just before hugging him from behind and kissing his cheek. "You prepared a picnic just for me? You little romantic you." She said giddily.
"I'm happy you like the idea, but that's not all." He spoke cryptically, confusing Nejire. He broke out of the hug but went back to holding her hand, leading her down a trail that looked barely used. "My aunt Midnight told me about a special spot. Apparently some people made it with their quirks decades ago."
"Your aunt Midnight huh? You brought me out here expecting a little action?" She said with half-lidded eyes, but a teasing smile. But before Izuku could start freaking out she started giggling when she saw his face turn scarlet. "Don't worry, I know you're not like that." She said as she gently hip checked him.
It wasn't a long trek, but it was a peaceful one. This was actually Izuku's first time out of the city, and he was enjoying it. Not having so many people around to make him worry about getting yelled and screamed at, the clean air, and the weather ended up being perfect. It's like the day was crafted just for them.
Nejire enjoyed it as well, because the animals here seemed less wary of humans, so she had the chance to spot a few animals, she'd even had the opportunity to feed a squirrel a couple walnuts she found.
When the two finally reached the spot, they were blown away. There was a gorgeous pond, with a single cherry blossom tree a few feet from the water. The land was perfectly flat underneath the tree, making it the perfect spot for a picnic. It looked like something out of a painting. Even after all these years, it was easy to tell the place wasn't naturally made as everything was far too perfect for that. But it made for an amazing date spot.
"Oh Izuku, this spot is beautiful!" Excitedly exclaimed Nejire as she started to slowly float over the pond, dragging her hand over the surface. He couldn't help but admire her beauty as she looked like a fairy with the way she moved. It was only now that he had a chance to really look at her. He told her to wear something casual that she wouldn't mind getting dirty, but he didn't expect her to wear black yoga pants, showing off her shapely thighs and butt, and a light pink t-shirt that said 'Girl Power' with All Might's signature tufts of hair that was tight enough to show off all her curves.
Though he honestly didn't know how to feel about looking at her in any sexual way. Mei and Kinoko have been instilling into him that there is nothing wrong with looking, or having sexual desires, as long as he's respectful. They also told him they weren't worried about him being disrespectful whatsoever. Still, it didn't feel right since they weren't an official couple.
"The water feels so warm, this place is perfect for a private swim." Said Nejire happily, though with a slight dusting of pink on her cheeks.
"I'll gladly bring you back here again." Said Izuku as he set the basket next to the cherry tree.
This prompted Nejire to float over in front him, giving him a teasing smile. "Oh? So you're already planning future dates?"
"W-well I didn't mean it l-like that, but more d-d-dates do sound nice." Nervously mumbled Izuku, unable to look Nejire in the eye.
Nejire's teasing smile turned into a loving one as a blush appeared on her cheeks. "That sounds lovely." She said as she leaned in, giving Izuku a kiss on the cheek. The two enjoyed their time as they started to eat and watch nature.
The food Izuku made himself was delicious, and he even made sure to pack a thermos of her favorite Jasmine tea. Several animals came to the pond for a drink, mostly little critters. They were even lucky enough to see a deer with two deerlings. The two chatted a lot during this time, avoiding anything school related, and just enjoyed each other's presence.
"I guess now would be a good time for the next part." Said Izuku as he stood up.
"There's more?" Asked Nejire, impressed and touched by how much Izuku was putting in this.
Izuku smiled at her as he reached into the basket, and pulled out a shirt. "Well I asked around, and found out if you are far enough out of town and get permission, you are free to use your quirks. So I had an idea." He continued as he took off his current shirt, putting the new one on, not seeing Nejire almost drool at the sight. He ended the explanation by bringing out his wings and reaching his hand out in invitation to Nejire. "Would you like to fly with me?"
"I'd love to!" Said Nejire happily with a big toothy smile, her blush becoming more prevalent as she grabbed hold of his hand. She waited for Izuku to start flapping as her quirk was simpler to fly with, copying his speed of ascent.
The two only broke apart when they were a hundred meters in the air where the two started swirling around each other as they continued ascending. When the two approached 500 meters, the rush gave Izuku a bit of confidence. Spurred on, he grabbed hold of Nejire, holding her tight as he wrapped his wings around them both. Taking the que, Nejire deactivated her own quirk. The look in her eyes and smile she gave Izuku told him she had complete trust in him as they began to fall.
Her laugh as she enjoyed herself was like music to his ears.
When they got close to 50 meters from the tree line Izuku unfurled his wings, quickly changing their trajectory to parallel with the ground. But he quickly flipped over, putting Nejire on top of him as he glided upside down, giving Nejire a perfect view of everything around them.
It wasn't until that time that Izuku realized something. Despite having his wings out, he was currently gaining attar. He may not fully understand his feelings, but that was all he needed to know that they were there. But more importantly, it told him she felt the same way.
The stunt Izuku pulled spurred on Nejire. She had always enjoyed flying, it's the most freeing feeling in the world. An experience she wished everyone had the chance to enjoy. And right now, she was flying with the boy she loves, on a date that already exceeded her expectations. The sheer euphoria she felt practically made her buzz with energy. So she grabbed hold of Izuku tight, and used her quirk to pull them back further into the air, wanting to fulfill a dream she's had for years. "Izuku, would you dance with me?" She asked as she slowed the ascent. The smile he gave her made her feel warm inside.
"Of course. Whatever you want." He said so casually that Nejire burst into happy giggles.
To an observer, the two looked to be in perfect sync, as they danced in the sky, pulling off big maneuvers. Except it was only possible thanks to Nejire's ability to quickly adapt, and their mutual trust in each other. They were so fixated on each other enjoying themselves, they lost track of time. It wasn't until the two stopped to get a drink did they realize they were at it for almost an hour. But neither cared, as the moment felt magical. This may have been a bucket list item for Nejire at first, but she wanted to do this again and again with Izuku.
"As much fun as this is. We should probably get to my part. But we have to do this again. Maybe we can do it at UA when you get accepted" Said Nejire between drinks, Izuku blushing at her phrasing.
After packing up and getting back to the car, Izuku allowed Nejire to drive at her request. He was apprehensive at first, seeing as how the car was a very expensive gift, but Nejire has had her license longer than him. Turned out her sporadic nature helped with her driving. She has some of the best multitasking ability and perception of anyone he's met. Heroes included.
"We're almost there, but I will warn you, this is a bit different from normal date activities." Nejire happily explained.
"Different? You? The girl who signed up for knife throwing classes? What a surprise." Joked Izuku with a laugh.
"Hey! It's a useful skill to have as a hero." Nejire jokingly argued.
"And the glass blowing class?" Asked Izuku with a teasing smirk, laughing again as Nejire started blushing and pouting, which Izuku found cute.
It wasn't much longer before Nejire pulled into a parking lot, and Izuku looked at the place confused as it was a well known animal shelter. "What are we doing here?" He asked, pointing at the building.
"You'll see." Said Nejire as she stepped out of the car.
As the two entered the building, the only person they saw was a middle aged man. "Ah, Nejire! Good to see you! Here to volunteer again?" Boisterously exclaimed the man.
"Yup! And I brought someone new with me. This is Izuku. Izuku, this is Hajima. He owns this place." Said Nejire, introducing the two.
Hajima extended his hand to shake. "Nice to meetcha." He said with a friendly smile.
"Nice to meet you too." Replied Izuku, as he accepted the handshake. He managed to do so without shaking or freaking out, but internally he felt nervous.
"Well, I hate to cut this short, but unfortunately there is a lot of work to be done. You know the room Nejire. I'll check in with you guys later." He said as he lifted up several documents to show what he was doing.
"Ok, see you later!" Said Nejire as she started dragging Izuku along.
"So what are we doing here?" Asked Izuku, still completely lost.
"We're here to volunteer. But not for just any job." Nejire started explaining before opening a door to a room filled with pet toys and animal play structures while several dogs and cats roamed around. Inwardly Izuku was impressed they all seemed to interact well with each other. "We're here to play with the animals!" She exclaimed. Her voice was enough to get the animals attention, making most of them rush towards them asking for attention.
It surprised Izuku how much he was enjoying himself. There were so many animals he expected them to fight for attention, but they all played well together. Nejire explained it was due to the owner's quirk. He had the ability to calm down animals, not only making them easy to manage, but easy to train as well.
A couple animals really caught Izuku's attention.
One was a female lab that was missing several patches of hair, and signs of recently removed stitches still showed. Turns out she was used for breeding, but the owner didn't take care of their animals. When they were arrested, all the animals came here. She had just recently healed enough to play and be put up for adoption.
The other was a cat that was blind. Only it was obvious it was due to an injury based on the scars. His owners just tossed him on the street one day. The cat was found injured and taken to a vet, and when the owners were asked about the cat, they said they didn't want it, so he came here.
Izuku felt a bit emotional as he played and interacted with the two. They suffered like he did, and he wanted them to go to good homes. He debated asking to adopt them, but Nejire told him how the owner is careful when vetting potential owners. It was probably what he was working on at the moment.
Unfortunately it came time for the shelter to shut down for the day. The two volunteered to help kennel the pets before heading out. The two held hands and laughed as they made their way to Izuku's car, both ready for dinner. They were so absorbed with each other that they never noticed a girl with vines for hair stare at them as they left.
The next day*
"So he seriously hasn't left you alone since your date?" Kinoko asked, amused at the sight of Azazel hanging around Izuku's neck like a scarf. All things considered, Azazel looked content as Izuku started petting his head with a finger.
"Yeah, I think he smells the animals from the shelter, and is acting territorial." Explained Izuku, smiling as Azazel loudly purred.
"Or he's just jealous." Said Mei with a laugh. "How did the date go anyways? I heard from Nejire, but I want to know how you feel."
"It was really fun. We both experienced new things, and getting to fly freely was better than I imagined. It's nice flying for training, but doing what we wanted was a different experience. I might also return to the shelter to volunteer again sometime." Explained Izuku, laughing when Azazel started rubbing his head on Izuku's cheek after hearing the last part. They swear that he was way too smart.
"So do you think you'll go on another date?" Asked Kinoko, her emotions still a little mixed up, but she leans towards being happy if Nejire joined the relationship. Izuku has done a lot to ensure that no matter what, he will still love them and give them attention.
"Yeah, I believe so. At least I'm happy to go on another one if she is." Answered Izuku, reaching his hand to scratch the back of his head, only to bump into Azazel and just pet him instead, not noticing both of them stealthily send a text.
"So, any clue why your mom wanted us to come over?" Asked Kinoko, sneaking her phone back into her pocket.
"I don't know, she just suddenly asked me to invite you two, without a word as to why." Answered Izuku.
Mei grabbed hold of Izuku's arm as her eyes shot open wide when a thought came to her. "You don't think….?" She started, only to be distrusted by the door opening.
"I'm back, and I brought guests." Said Shoka as she walked through the door. Right behind her came in the Hatsume's and Kinoko's mother, followed quickly by Midnight and Present Mic.
"Hey, it's good to see you all, but what's going on?" Asked Izuku confused, especially with Mei bouncing in her seat next to him.
"I just thought they should be here for this moment." Answered Shoka as she pulled out three letters. Izuku's and Kinoko's eyes widened as they saw the UA insignia on the envelope, while Mei just squealed before grabbing the letters. She quickly found hers before passing the other two.
"Though don't feel like you're on display, you're free to open them in private if you want." Shoka reassured the three teens.
All three decided to open their letters together in the living room. Izuku ended up being the only one to drop the disk that came in the envelope when he opened his, making it activate after hitting the floor.
"Booya! I am here as a projection!" Came the booming voice of All Might. Shoka's groan and Mic's chuckles soon followed. Only the heroes expected the hologram disc.
"I know it's been awhile, but with great power comes a great amount of paperwork! As the newest member of UA's faculty it's up to me to tell you your scores!" She said, being very showy with her movements. "You have passed the written exam with flying colors! As for your performance during the practical exam!"
The hologram then changed to a short montage of his finest moments, including taking out the zero pointer.
"You earned a total of 77 villain points, the highest earned in the exam!" She said, giving a dramatic pause right after. Everyone cheered as Izuku watched in stunned silence, not expecting to have earned the most. "But that isn't all!" Said All Might, causing everyone to quiet down, the heroes all secretly smirking as they knew what came next.
"There was more to the exam than we let on! A hero's main duty is to protect others, so what kind of hero school would we be if we didn't reward such actions! We had an unaffiliated panel of judges watch the exam and award rescue points! Aizawa Izuku, you have earned 67 rescue points, for a grand total of 144, not only placing you firmly at the top of the scoreboard, but you have broken the record once held by yours truly of 141! Meaning you are now the UA entrance exam record holder! Now it is my privilege to welcome you, to your hero academia!" She exclaimed one last time ending with a dramatic flare before the hologram cut off.
As soon as the hologram ended, Izuku was brought back by Mei and Kinoko wrapping him in a hug. Apparently he was so deep into his own head as he listened that he didn't notice when Azazel moved onto his lap, saving him from the tackle. Several camera shutters were heard from the adults, and congratulations all around.
Once the shock wore off Izuku joined in celebrating, even shedding a lot of happy tears.
After everyone calmed down, Mei decided to open hers next as Kinoko was nervous. Her montage had to include a lot of picture-in-picture of her shooting, and the robot going down. It also included her escaping the crumbling building. Her parents freaked out a bit seeing that part, but the heroes managed to reassure them. In the end, her total was 48 villain points, and 29 rescue points, totaling 77 points, making her tied for second.
Once everyone quieted down from their excitement, it was finally the moment of truth for Kinoko. They were two for two, so she could only hope she made it in. After some reassurance she played her hologram, holding her hands together as if praying. In her montage the most prominent moment was when she was fighting with Camie against a bunch of robots. She was then praised for her on the fly ability to fight with others, a useful skill as a hero.
She ended with a total of 44 villain points, and 29 rescue points. Putting her at 73 total putting her in sixth just behind Uraraka.
None of the non-heroes knew Uraraka had talked to them about giving her points to Izuku for saving her, explaining she wanted to ensure he passed. They debated putting it in Izuku's letter, but decided to leave it for Uraraka to decide if it would be revealed or not.
The house kinda went wild after the last hologram finished. Many hugs and kisses were exchanged as the three were praised for their achievements. Everyone was invited for dinner, the adults making all three's favorite foods. So much was going on, they almost missed the texts they received from Uraraka and Camie telling them they passed. After some discussion, they found out all five will even be in the same class.
It was a celebration to remember. Many of the faculty texted them their congratulations, with several stopping by and joining the celebration. It reminded Izuku a lot of the party from when he came home for the first time, but bigger. Lunch Rush even came by, bringing dozens of cupcakes in several flavors.
Eventually as the night wound down, all that remained was Izuku and Shoka. When the last person left, Shoka wrapped Izuku in another hug, something she did several times throughout the day. "I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am." She said for what seemed to be the millionth time. Not that Izuku was complaining, he enjoyed the affection.
"Thank you, for everything you've done. I couldn't have gotten this far without you." He said in a near whisper as more happy tears started to pour from both of them.
The two continued to spend time together, knowing their time living together was short. UA had a mandatory dorm system for a few courses, including the hero course, all for the students' protection. While there is a dorm mother, Shoka would be staying in their current home. Sure they could still see each other, but it would be hard on them.
The future is coming and time waits for no one. But right now, the future looks bright.
