Chapter Five: Back to School

Linka gulped lightly as she walked into school. She was hoping that their parents would allow them to skip school until they got their proper bodies back. But Lynn and Rita were insistent that they go. They said that none of them knew how long it would take for Levi to repair the machine and get them back to their proper gender. And until that happened, they still had to learn. Lincoln or now Linka, was close to graduating. She would be graduating at the end of the year.

But Lucy, Lana, Lola and Lily were still in elementary through high school. Lucy was the eldest younger sibling and she was only in 9th grade. Linka however was about to graduate and she was already worried enough about college without having to worry about having to go to college as a woman.

"Hey, Linco… I mean Linka." Clyde said, slapping Linka lightly on the back.
"Hey, Clyde!" Linka said, high fiving Clyde.

"You don't have to slap me so lightly. Just cuz I'm a girl doesn't mean I'm any weaker than I was before." Linka whispered to Clyde. Clyde hesitated for a long moment.
"Well… Okay…" Clyde said. He could see that Linka was still fairly muscular, just like Lincoln had been, though both Links were still pretty slender.

"So… Tell me, how are Sam and Luna doing?" Clyde asked.

"Well, they're not as close right now. Luna is in a guy's body, so Sam, who's a lesbian isn't really attracted to him. They're still together. And Sam is about to give birth to twins, also some of Lisa's work. She recombined their eggs and fertilized them, then implanted the egg in Sam." Linka said.

"Wow. Lisa's pretty amazing. I sort of understood that, but I'm sort of having some trouble seeing where this stops being science-fiction and starts being actual science." Clyde said. Linka laughed.

"Yeah… Well, that's true of a lot of Lisa's inventions. She doesn't let things like the realm of possibility hinder her progress." Linka said. Clyde nodded.
"Well, tell her good luck with that." Clyde said, splitting up from Linka as they went to separate classes.

Linka sighed as she went to lunch. She really didn't feel comfortable in this body. But neither did any of the siblings. They were making do with what they had, but it wasn't exactly pleasant to be stuck in the bodies of the wrong gender. But Lisa promised that she would have them back into their proper bodies as soon as possible. So there wasn't much that they could do to rush her on that. If they tried to rush her, she might make mistakes and it might take longer. Or even worse, the machine could malfunction while changing them back and cause permanent problems.

To make Linka's day worse, Chandler sat down next to her. Unfortunately, she, Jordan and Stella had different lunch times, so she didn't even have the relief of sitting with them to eat.

"Hey, baby… You ever consider having one more person in that open relationship of yours?" Chandler asked cockily. Linka rolled her eyes.
"Not in a million years." She said, refusing to even look at Chandler.

"Come on, the rumors about me are greatly exaggerated. I'm really a very sensitive guy. Quite attuned to the needs of the ladies." Chandler smirked. Linka nearly gagged at his attempts to flirt with her. If only he knew who she really was. But then, if he knew, the whole school would know. In fairness, it was likely the whole school knew, whether they approved or not was another story, that Lisa had invented a machine that could change people's genders permanently. So it wasn't like Chandler would be dropping some huge bombshell if he told others about what happened.

But still, this was drama that Linka didn't need right now, especially when trying to deal with being in the wrong body.

"Chandler, I'm sure you and I both know two things. I could kick your ass if I need to. And if I did, I would probably get suspended. Do you really want to take the risk that I'm willing to risk that?" Linka asked irritably. Chandler was silent for a long moment before chuckling.

"A tough girl… I like that. It will be even nicer when I'm able to tame that fierce look in those eyes of yours… You know, you look a bit like Lincoln Lame. Are you sure you're not related to him?"
"Yeah. We're cousins. We meet up in martial arts classes we're in together. I beat him every time in sparring." Linka said.

"Good to know, good to know. I guess even when he's put on a bit of muscle, he's still the same loser he's always been. Not sure how he managed to bag two hot chicks.

"Or why he's willing to share them with you. But whatever, I guess it's not my place to judge. Frankly, the whole thing reeks of incest and that's kinda skeevy to me. But hey, I guess I'll let him do him and I'll do me… Hopefully you'll let me do you too some… OOF!" Chandler grunted as Linka kneed him in the stomach.

"I told you I wasn't interested. Next shot is gonna be even lower if you don't bugger off." Linka said. Chandler gasped, waddling off, still panting, trying to catch his breath.

"Whoa! Dudette! That was totally rad!" Rusty exclaimed, sitting down across from Linka.

"Rusty! It's me! Lincoln!" Linka protested in a whisper.
"I know, I know. Just busting your chops. Still, that was pretty awesome. I just hope you don't get in trouble for assaulting Chandler. He did deserve it for how he was acting. But still."

"I'll take that risk. I'm not in a good fucking mood right now." Linka growled, grinding her sandwich with her teeth as she tried to calm herself down.

"Whoa! Are you sure you're not going through like PMS? Maybe changing into a girl means you go through that every month now." Rusty whispered.
"Well… It's possible. I was hoping it wouldn't happen so soon, and I'm not bleeding down there or anything. But Lisa said it was possible that I would suffer some aspects of PMS, but not others, due to the machine having a dysfunctional burst like that. So I guess I could be suffering the mood swings, but not the cramps or the bleeding.

"I can only hope I might be so lucky." Linka shrugged, getting some paper out of her backpack and starting to work on some concept art for her comics as she ate. She wasn't really in a social mood at the moment and Rusty seemed to notice this, because he left and sat with some other friends of his.

Soon, lunch ended and Linka went to English class. The teachers had been apprised of the situation, that Linka was Lincoln and they had promised to keep their mouths shut on the matter, to call her Linka and simply let her take Lincoln's place for the time and to further act as though nothing was different when Lincoln came back. The hope was that if the staff pretended that everything was normal, that the students would follow suit. So far, most of the students were intrigued by how 'Linka' had shown up out of nowhere and seemed to basically just be female Lincoln.

She introduced herself as Linka, but didn't elaborate any further than that. She was hoping people would just let it go, but from what she was hearing in the halls, rumors were flying. Some were neutral, that Linka and Lincoln had switched places and were going to each other's schools. Some were kind of nasty, that Lincoln was dying and Linka was trying to take his place. Some were just kind of silly, that Linka actually was Lincoln. Very few people actually seemed to believe the last one, even though it was the truth.

Still, Linka hoped to keep people guessing, because the longer they stayed guessing, the less likely anyone was to figure out what was really going on, and those who did figure it out were mostly laughed at by everyone else. Still, today was not Linka's day. So early in her time as a girl, she was hoping she had a bit longer before she was truly outed.

"Lincoln… Do you want to… I mean Linka…" The teacher said.

"Yes, Mr. Schaffer?" Linka asked, hoping to just laugh it off.

"Do you want to read the next part of the play?" Schaffer asked. Linka nodded and began reading. Though she was a bit distracted, she was able to follow along. She hoped that people would just write off Schaffer's mistake as that. A mistake. And who could blame him? Linka looked strikingly similar to Lincoln. The spitting image really, if Lincoln were only a girl. But what kind of laughable science-fiction was that. But Chandler was grinning and laughing like a hyena under his breath. He'd caught on.

A/N: This is a fairly short chapter. But please read and review. Thank you.
