The Mastermind Task Force Headquarters were, as usual, swamped with paperwork after a Mastermind stunt. Mount Lady groaned in anguish as she finished her last piece. "And… Done! Thank God," she moaned, slumping at her desk.
Next to her, Kamui Woods looked similarly exhausted. "Hard to believe that an art smuggling ring was under our noses this whole time… How despicable."
Tsukauchi nodded, looking over the files. "Rather clever really - selling low-cost paintings that were actually stolen works so that nobody would be any wiser, disguising them using an image-changing Quirk… Not to mention all these bribed officials." Mastermind and the League - or rather, Gentle Criminal - had been very thorough.
Mount Lady scowled. "And the worst thing is, I wasn't able to show off my evening outfit - I'm joking!" She hastily added upon seeing the scowls from the rest of the group. Groaning, she slumped down with a frustrated sigh. "We just got hit by that gas weapon of his before we could even do anything!"
"Guess you could say the party was a 'gas'!" Ms. Joke grinned, dodging the pen Mount Lady threw at her in response to that horrible joke.
Odd Eye slumped dramatically. "How could we not have guessed that the staff were actually disguised League members? How did they even get in?"
Death Arms pulled up a couple of the statements the non-Villain staff had made. "They were just newer hires - a couple of them substituted for their workmates for whatever reason and let extra workers in, claiming that the boss had wanted additional help at the last minute. A bit suspicious in hindsight-"
"-But by the time you would notice it, it's too late," Tsukauchi finished. "We already knew that a couple of their members like Gentle Criminal had used disguises before, but this is rather a departure from their usual strategy."
The Bamboo Hero Shinai had been particularly shaken by Gentle Criminal knowing his name. He had delivered that statement with a baffled expression - apparently the Villain was vaguely familiar to him.
"Ugh," Mount Lady grunted. "And to top it all off, Mastermind kicks Muscular in the dick and makes the Heroes fighting that lunatic look incompetent."
As one, the men in the room winced. "How bad was the damage?" Odd Eye squeaked.
Tsukauchi checked that report. "Well, the doctor operating on him pointed out that if not for Mastermind holding back and Muscular's own natural toughness, he would have died. As it is, apparently the trauma was so bad that certain… parts have retracted entirely into his body and would need surgery to even get out - though nobody wants to actually help a mass murderer like him."
Again, the men in the room paused to shudder. After that attack, several Heroes had decided to invest in protection for that area - as had some minor Villains. That had been an interesting series of arrests.
Ms. Joke grinned as they recovered. "So, Eraserhead, have you heard anything else about the League of Super Villains? Also, when are you taking me out for our pre-anniversary dinner?"
Eraserhead ran a hand through his hair. "First off, there's no such thing as a pre-anniversary dinner. Second, I've taken the liberty of asking my street contacts if they've heard anything. Apparently, word on the street is that Mastermind's looking for a powerhouse."
Mount Lady pushed herself up, a worried look on her face. "Just when we have a handle on his group, he goes and tries to recruit more. Why the hell does he need more team members? Isn't that damn Quirk erasing Ray and his other gadgets enough for him?"
"Who knows when it comes to Mastermind," Eraserhead stated flatly.

Izuku froze when he heard the words tha came out of Todoroki's mouth. Of all the possible responses he could have had to that speech, it certainly wasn't that. "...You-you want to join us?" Izuku asked, still a bit dazed.
She nodded resolutely. "That whole speech about working with your friends and equals… It really hit the mark."
"It did?" Mastermind asked. The speech wasn't supposed to work! He thought furiously.
Todoroki managed to smile at the Villains sitting opposite her. "Yeah, I really need another outlet to let off steam from the pressure of my job and life besides karaoke and drinking with my colleagues slash friends."
Gentle Criminal stared at her with an odd expression on his face. "...By becoming a Supervillain?"
"I'm pretty sure that I can transfer some skills. Plus, I've picked up some stuff from listening to my father on the phone." She shook her head, remembering some of the conversations she'd overheard. "He can get quite loud sometimes."
Mastermind waved his armoured hands, trying to get his point across. "But - the daily hazards of being a Supervillain! I mean, the violence, the privation, the constant threat of death-"
She gave him a flat look. "I'm an elementary school teacher." Her words came out of her mouth like an experienced Pro Hero that had seen too much, done too much to peacefully retire. It was an alien tone of voice from a young woman in her mid twenties.
When the League just stared at her for that, she practically beamed. "So, how does this work?"
That floored Mastermind. He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, trying to find the words to let her down gently. "Um… Okay, this is the first time that speech has ever worked… S-sorry, I'm not prepared for this."
Todoroki chuckled at that. "Well, I kind of thought as much."
Mastermind stood in front of her, head tilted to the side. "And you want to be a Super Villain to… blow off steam, right?" He was even more confused when she nodded. For the last time, he tried to appeal to her sense of reason."Aren't there healthier ways of dealing with stress?"
"Oh, definitely. But dealing with my family's way too stressful!" Todoroki shot back faux-cheerfully, pupils suddenly shrinking to pinpricks. Her smile widened as she gestured. "I mean, take my father, Endeavour! He married my mother so that her Quirk and his would merge to create a super child to beat All Might!"
The League looked at each other in alarm. Mastermind stared at her. I should probably not be listening to this. "What?"
"Yep, he basically bought my mother in a Quirk marriage because he couldn't beat All Might! Took four tries until he got the Quirk he wanted in Shouto, and after that I basically didn't see my father or Shouto after my brother's Quirk came in!"
…Definitely. I DEFINITELY shouldn't be listening to this. But Izuku found that his mouth was glued shut while Todoroki stood there, that too wide smile on her face.
Todoroki took a deep breath to try and reel it in. "About the only thing I'll say in favour of Endeavour is that outside of training Touya and Shouto, he never hit us. And he tried to stop Touya from training when he found out that Touya didn't have heat resistance, but that ended poorly," she added bitterly. His League flinched in sympathy when she managed a bitter smile. "That's the most positive thing I can think of about his general treatment of us after he got consumed by needing to beat All Might!"
While Izuku tried to process everything that had been said, Todoroki kept talking, the words pouring from her mouth like a leaking dam. "Then there's my mother, who had a mental breakdown after his treatment of Shouto and the rest of us. And she - she poured boiling water on my brother's face."
For a second her eyes were focused on some distant scene. Izuku wanted nothing more than to tell her that it was in the past but he was frozen. Dimly he was aware that the room was starting to cool down. Frost gathered on her feet.
Then Todoroki shook her head, eyes tearing up while the Villains looked at her with increasing concern. "Mother - she went to a mental hospital soon after. My father - he shut down after that for a while. Just went through the motions at his job."
Izuku was aware that she was now shouting, tears flowing down her face and freezing before they hit the ground. "And I-I tried to fill in for my mother and father when I was thirteen. Because somebody had to raise my brothers and it certainly wasn't Endeavour! I did my best but some things just didn't work!"
She laughed, and then it turned into a sob. "
Inkblot reached an arm out to wrap around Todoroki, a sympathetic expression on her face."That's…" She settled for a hug while Todoroki screwed her eyes shut, tension seeming to leave her body.
"And… that's it, really." Todoroki finally choked out. "My family's a mess, and I've been holding everybody up while having to deal with it all myself, with nobody to confide in."
Izuku's heart practically broke at those words. From the looks of his League, the feeling was mutual.
When she opened those ice blue eyes, she laughed. "But what - what am I doing? I - what am I doing?! I-I'm a schoolteacher, not some - some Villain! No offence - you guys act more like Robin Hood or the Peerless Thief rather than actual Villains - but I-I can't. I just… can't."
She sucked in a deep breath. Izuku looked at her eyes, seeing a familiar look. A desperate expression from somebody strong, searching for support when they were used to doing it all by themselves.
The League of Supervillains stood there, stunned. Inkblot and La Brava seemed to be on the verge of tears. Others like Gentle Criminal and Golden Grin seemed saddened but not surprised.
And he made a decision.
—
"You understand our goals pretty well, Todoroki Fuyumi." Heavy footsteps came closer to Fuyumi as she sat there, slumped. "You know that being a Super Villain is risky."
"I… Yes." In a way, she appreciated Mastermind being so honest.
He studied her. "What does a Hero mean to you, Todoroki?"
At those words, Fuyumi thought, long and hard. About how Shouto had lit up seeing All Might on television, her own experiences with local Heroes smiling and reassuring crowds… "A Hero makes everything better." The words left her mouth under that impassive, eyeless gaze. Inkblot and La Brava stared at her, wise-eyed, then back to Mastermind.
He nodded. "Everything we do is to make Heroes better, Todoroki." The League nodded, some grinning while others simply offered thumbs up.
The cheerful Super Villain kept talking. "An old saying goes, 'Heroes are only as good as the villains they face.' Those words inspired the philosophy the League of Super Villains abides by." The young man seemed to practically inflate with excitement as he explained, "We think that the reason Hero standards have dropped is because there's been no pressure on them to improve in this era of peace. So we provide them with a higher class of villainy to challenge themselves against and grow into true Superheroes!"
While she was surprised by that Mastermind continued talking, a serious tone in his voice. "Now, being a Supervillain will be dangerous, I won't deny that. But you won't be alone. Not like I was when I started. So!"
Thunder cracked, and he stretched a hand out to her. "Will you follow me down this path?"
Fuyumi stared at him, watery-eyed. Then she nodded. "Yes." She smiled brightly. "Getting back to that start-"
She jumped as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. Mastermind looked at her. "Do you need to make a phone call or-?"
Fuyumi blinked, then her eyes widened as she remembered what her father was like. "Oh, I-I should, really! I don't want my father going after you in full force - about the only way I could see the situation going worse is if you had actually stolen that painting."
She laughed at that while Mastermind looked away. "R-really?"
She nodded, dialling her father. "Of course! The Number Two Hero, getting stolen from? You wouldn't have been able to get away from that response - every Hero in Japan would be coming after you."
"Oh," Mastermind squeaked. Inkblot shot him a Look, which he hastily backed away from.
Fuyumi winced when she saw all the notifications from her father. "That's a lot of missed calls. Hold on."
"Maybe he's not too worried?" Golden Grin managed, before the rest of the League glared at him.
—
Endeavour grabbed another grenade, attaching it to his Hero costume to match the rifle and shotgun slung over his shoulders. Sure, his fire was most likely enough but he wasn't going in unprepared.
Shouto stared at him with an odd look on his face as Endeavour picked up a grenade launcher from the locker. "Do you believe me about the reptilian threat?"
"No," Endeavour pulled on a pair of sunglasses, cocking his shotgun. "Your sister hasn't responded to any of my messages. Finish your homework and go to sleep. I'll be back…"
Thus equipped, he stomped towards the door. If somebody thought they could kidnap one of his children, they could think again-
Suddenly, his phone rang. Endeavour immediately snatched up his phone, dropping his shotgun in the process. "Fuyumi?! Is that you?! Are you safe?!"
"Hi Dad. Yes, it's me-"
"Are you safe?!" His beard and moustache flared white, his grip tightening on his phone. "I didn't see you when I got home and you didn't respond to my texts, so if you're in danger I'll find you and put a stop to it myself!"
"Right, sorry! I-I've been out with some new friends and I just lost track of time. Don't worry, I can handle myself! Just like I've handled my younger brothers all these years," she added.
He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. If she could make comments like that, then she was alright. "...Okay. But if you're in trouble, just tell me. I-I'll be there."
"...I know. Goodbye."
As she hung up, he sighed. Endeavour knew he was not the best father around. But he would be damned if he lost another child.
—
Mastermind breathed a sigh of relief when Fuyumi hung up. She smiled at her new - friends? Team? 'Well, that should reassure my father. At least he was being reasonable about this."
"Time for some celebration tea!" Gentle Criminal bustled out of the hideout. "Golden Tips Imperial, nothing but the finest for our newest member!"
"Pour some whiskey in mine," the doctor - Stitch, apparently - called after Gentle.
"Reasonable?" Golden Grin laughed. "Man, if my sister ever starts dating I'm gonna give whatever boyfriend she has one hell of a shovel talk!"
Fuyumi started when Inkblot rested a gloved hand on her shoulder. "Yeah, it's like this most of the time."
"Oh…"
Mastermind nodded, watching their newest member. "So, you've told us your story, Todoroki Fuyumi! We'll help you craft a Villain identity worthy of the name! Not to mention the new Support Gear I can make for you!"
Behind him, the rest of the League shuddered. "Godspeed, Todoroki," Stitch called from the other room. She smiled awkwardly at that.
Not heeding any of this, Mastermind continued. "As a new member and being related to a Hero, I must apologise but I'm going to keep my identity secret for a while. I know it's not fair but-"
Fuyumi held up a hand. "No, no, that's okay. You actually listened to me on this and, well… I don't think many people would believe me if I did try and talk about it."
"I…understand. People don't want to think that Heroes can be horrible people," Mastermind somberly agreed.
She laughed. "It's like there are any number of theories about who you are under the mask - some people think you're a robot!"
Mastermind laughed, the rest of the League grinning at each other as they did so. "Yeah, I've read that one!"
Still giggling, Fuyumi continued. "Or my brother Shouto - get this: he thinks you're Midoriya Izuku from the Sports Festival!"
"Oh, that's - wait, what?" Mastermind froze.
Fuyumi grinned, running a hand through her hair. "Well, my younger brother is a conspiracy theorist - and to be honest, it's something that my father can claim he had no hand in. Lately he's been… obsessed with proving that Midoriya is actually Mastermind. " She laughed. "Crazy, right?"
"Y-yes, crazy!" Mastermind laughed in a manic way, the rest of the League joining with a similar tone. "I-I mean there's no way I could be the brilliant Midoriya!"
She looked at him oddly, ice-blue eyes narrowing in suspicion. "That's an odd way of phrasing it."
"Pfft, what? N-no it isn't." Mastermind tried to casually lean on the table and slipped, barely managing to catch himself.
Fuyumi raised an eyebrow at that, then a thought struck her. She might as well clear her suspicions. "Oh, of course you couldn't be him, because his inventions suck."
"No, his inventions were great! Really amazing work from a surprisingly handsome and talented Support Engineer!" Mastermind crossed his arms. The rest of the League looked at Fuyumi, then back to their leader with anxious looks on their faces.
"Let's have some tea!" Gentle Criminal said a bit too quickly, taking a tray with a teapot and cups to the table while Mastermind glared at her.
Fuyumi smirked back at Mastermind. "No, I've seen better Support Gear from that Support company you broke into on your debut!"
Mastermind looked at her, then waggled a finger. "Please, Midoriya is too talented for that. I respect him as a rival, since his creations spur me on to greater heights. Besides, if his stuff was crap, then how did he beat your brother?"
While she tried to find a response, he stepped forwards. "Now, for tea-"
His foot caught on a raised floorboard and he fell forwards with an undignified yell. Inkblot winced. "Boss!" She pulled him up. "You alright-"
The lower half of his mask fell off. Fuyumi gaped at the familiar freckled cheeks beneath the mask. Desperately he pulled his mask back on, but the damage was done. Her jaw dropped. She gaped at Mastermind "Oh my god."
Mastermind looked at her, then sighed. "Well, if you recognise that…" He pulled the rest of his helmet off before bending down to grab his mouthpiece. "See, it's like a magic trick that's been explained, isn't it. Wouldn't you rather have the magic?"
"Oh my god." Fuyumi slumped into a chair. "...Shouto was right about this?!"
Her mind spun with other possibilities. Could Shouto be right about other things like this?!
Gentle Criminal sighed. "Yes, he was. We're not going to disclose how we did it, but we must insist you don't tell anybody!"
She shook her head with a sigh. "I said I was in already, and I'm not backing out now. Besides, you guys have heard my story already and didn't dismiss it. That counts for a lot of goodwill."
Midoriya gave her a desperate look. "But… Your brother figured out it was me! How-how did he even do that?!"
She managed a smile. "Don't worry too much. As I said, my baby brother's a conspiracy theorist, and he's drawn some… pretty tangential conclusions."
It didn't look like Midoriya was that convinced.
—
Hitoshi slumped into his desk, groaning. A late night of studying and preparing for midterms had left him drained even before his regular insomnia. He just had to hope that he could get some sleep since Aizawa-sensei wasn't a morning person either.
And then Shouto started talking to him while he was trying to sleep. "Shinsou. I need to talk with you urgently."
Hitoshi screwed his eyes shut when he heard his friend's voice. "Shouto. I'm going to open my eyes, and you will be on fire. And the only way to put you out is for me to talk to you. Because that is the only, conceivable reason, why you would try and wake me at this ungodly hour."
Blearily he glared at Shouto, sighing. "Well, you're clearly not on fire. Let me go back to sleep."
Shouto pulled out the conspiracy board, uncaring of Hitoshi's groaning. "I have more evidence proving that Midoriya Izuku is, in fact, Mastermind. For one, Mastermind wears red boots with square tips. Midoriya wears red sneakers with square tips. There's clearly a connection there."
"Lots of people wear red shoes like that," Hitoshi grunted, burying his face in his folded elbows. "I think the principal wears similar shoes."
"Not like MIdoriya does, though." Shouto pointed to another part. "Also, Izuku built a very similar cape to what Mastermind uses. That can't be a coincidence."
"Hatsume said he was inspired by it, maybe ask her and quit bugging me." Hitoshi tried to get back to sleep. He really needed to get a sleeping bag he could take to class like Aizawa-Sensei had.
Alas, Shouto wasn't dissuaded. "Not to mention Midoriya's murder aura."
Overhearing them, Bakugou snorted in disdain. "Really, the murder aura thing? Yeah, Deku's mum taught him that. Auntie Inko's a beast."
While everybody around them processed that information and the implications it bore, Shouto pointed at Bakugou with a triumphant look in his eyes. "There, see, independent confirmation. Midoriya has a murder aura."
Bakugou glared at him. "There's no independent confirmation because there's no fucking way Deku can be that Mastermind prick. I grew up with the nerd, I know he's not a Villain. The nerd wouldn't hurt a fly."
Melissa nodded. "He's right. Look, Izuku's…" She flushed slightly but continued, "he really, sincerely is one of the most Heroic people I've ever met. Accusing him of being a Villain with no real proof is just a horrible thing to do, Shouto. Besides, Mastermind has been active during school hours and while Izuku was in the Sports Festival. How could he be in two places at once?"
Shouto hummed. "He could have a twin-"
Bakugou barked out a laugh. "The nerd's an only child."
He put a hand to his mouth, thinking. "Maybe he has a clone? Quirks have done stranger things. Alternatively, he could be in league with the reptilians-"
Hitoshi finally lifted his head to glare at his classmates. "Shouto, you're one of my best friends but I got maybe two hours of sleep last night. Please drop the theory for now so I can get some sleep."
Shouto blinked. "Oh, I'm being a bad friend right now. Sorry about that, Shinsou."
He managed to reel his temper back when he saw the look on Shouto's face. "I'll listen later, just as soon as I feel less tired."
Idly Hitoshi wondered if anybody else was having as tiring a time as he was.
—
In the bar that they called their base of operations, Shigaraki leaned forwards, looking at Spinner with an expression on his face that was ostensibly a smile. "So… Splatter," he managed, "what do you do for fun?"
Spinner wasn't sure how to respond to this latest bit of weirdness. For some reason, Shigaraki was insisting on some 'team-bonding' stuff with him, and he was sure it was some sort of trap. Shigaraki had talked with the rest of their group as they lived in this bar and plotted, mostly about minor matters or stopping Toga from killing another delivery boy.
Seeing Shigaraki try to act like a regular human being and not wearing his costume was… odd. Especially since Spinner could tell that Shigaraki had very little in the way of social skills. And that was coming from a shut-in like himself.
Splatter stared at him oddly. "Why… Do you care?"
Shigaraki leaned on the bar, a surprisingly pensive look on his face. "Because I kind of need a small, elite party to make this next raid work, rather than a mob of low-level guildies. And, sure, I might have hurt my prospects by accidentally getting Stain with a Bomber Noumu-"
Wow, that's a bold lie if I ever heard one, Spinner thought to himself.
"-But now I've got actual party members I won't be embarrassed to be seen in public with," Shigaraki concluded. "And you guys have wants and needs just like me. So as the guild leader, I want to know what you like so that I can change the world to match it."
Spinner blinked at that. Shigaraki seemed to be taking this 'lead the League of Villains' thing more seriously than he had previously thought. "Well… I like martial arts movies… I picked up some parkour training with Stain, that's pretty cool. I studied the blade while other people were partying…"
Shigaraki snorted. "Nice joke."
He brought a hand up to his chin, remembering the first source of his training. "Oh, and I like playing video games. I like League of Legends in particular-"
Spinner was cut off when Shigaraki suddenly threw an arm around him. "I knew there was something about you I liked," he rasped. "I also like playing League - it's where I got the name for my guild from, in fact!"
"Really?" Spinner looked at Shigaraki, noting just how happy Shigaraki was with this. Then again, Shigaraki used so much gamer lingo that he shouldn't have been surprised. Mentally he shook himself - he shouldn't be getting attached to this guy.
"Yeah, big fan!" Shigaraki laughed. "Though I mostly play solo queue. Sensei said something about 'video games making people violent,' but Senseis a bit of a boomer like that. Video games don't make people violent."
Spinner saw an opportunity to needle Shigaraki. "So… You didn't get the name from the League of Super-"
Shigaraki glared at him coldly. "Finish that sentence and I'll stab you." Spinner decided to shut his mouth upon seeing that. Shigaraki winced a bit. "Sorry, I just - I just hate the League of Stupid Villains so, so much. They're almost as bad as people who play All Might in League-"
Familiar rage at being reminded about All Might In League of Legends flared up. "Yeah, All Might players are cringe," Spinner almost spat. "Seriously, All Might as a League champion is complete bullshit."
"I know, right?" Shigaraki glared at Spinner in mutual rage.
Spinner growled as he thought about it. "So fair, paying 5500 yen to get a champion that plays the game for you! I mean, he's completely broken!"
"They say it's to 'reflect his actual attributes,'" Shigaraki made mocking air quotes, "but that's bullshit. Riot needs to actually balance that piece of shit!"
"Exactly!" Spinner cried in the throes of Gamer Rage. "I mean, his passive I am Here just gives his nearby teammates and friendly mobs a boost to ALL their stats that stays for like a minute, even if you kill him - and good luck with that since he's just too strong - his AA hits like a truck-"
"Not to mention his Q, Mighty Leap, means he can clear about half the map to dive into enemy territory or relane." Shigaraki growled.
"Yeah, it's ridiculous! He can fill practically any role you could think! Jungle, pick, support... they've barely nerfed him!" Spinner shook his head.
Shigaraki managed to compose himself. "So… What's your handle?"
Spinner froze. "Uh?"
"How about we play some League? For some team bonding? Plus we can totally gank some All Might players!" Shigaraki's grin widened, chapped lips almost cracking apart from the strain.
He hesitated. On the one hand, Shigaraki was the insane nutjob that had almost killed his master. On the other hand, fuck people who played All Might in League. "...You know what? Sure."
—
After Todoroki left the building with their contact number and a promise to return, the League of Supervillains looked at each other. Golden Grin broke the silence first. "Holy shit, and I thought my dad was bad."
Gentle Criminal frowned sadly, La Brava looking down at the floor. "While Endeavour has never been the most…" he looked for words, "friendly Hero, I would have never thought he could sink to such depths."
Twice shook his head sadly. "That's pretty fucked up, what her and her family have gone through. No disagreement here."
Sitting at the head of the table, Izuku spoke. "She's one of us now. And that means we're going to be gearing up to take down Endeavour. If she wants to, that is."
Inkblot winced, looking up. "Sure. But I'm still a bit leery about trusting her." She shrugged when the League looked at her harshly. "She is the daughter of the Number Two - she could be trying to play us, unlikely as it is."
The other Villains looked at each other, then back to Mastermind. "Are you sure that you should have unmasked in front of her, Izuku?" La Brava asked worriedly. "Because if she tells…"
"She was on the phone to Endeavour and she lied to him. And I saw it in her eyes - she really wanted to join." Izuku said. "Sure, I'm cautious about it but I feel that she understands the cause. She's a member of the team, and we all support one another."
The Super Villains looked at each other, then resolutely nodded. "All for One and One for All, right?" Mr. Compress offered.
(In his lair at Kamino, All for One sneezed, distracting him from his baby porpoise steak. Applying an anti-hayfever Quirk, he got back to eating his illegal delicacy while checking on Dr. Garaki's progress on his newest Noumu.)
(In her apartment, Melissa suddenly sneezed nine times. Next to her, Uncle Might sneezed a total of eight times. Neither of them could figure out why that had happened.)
"Yes! Exactly!" Izuku beamed. His eyes glinted in the light. "Oh, and I can make Todoroki some truly exceptional Support gear! Not to mention I get the chance to break down her QUirk!"
Thunder boomed around him as he laughed. The rest of the League took one look and sent silent prayers to Fuyumi. Hopefully, she would survive the experience.
—
And so we had a new member under my watchful eye. In truth, I never liked Endeavour that much as a Hero. I mean, he didn't smile. What kind of Hero doesn't smile?!
But hearing about how he had treated his family… I knew, then, that we would have to get stronger. Strong enough to deal with Endeavour and beat back any reprisal he had. Ironically, it turned out that Fuyumi was the powerhouse that I needed, though Giran helped source some others.
However… I wasn't the only one who had been recruiting.
—
Just on the streets of Kamino, Rin huddled down to try and stay out of the rain. Around him, passers-by looked at him with clear sympathy or disgust at his dirty appearance.
A woman looked at him and his haggard appearance and he perked up a bit as she looked at him sympathetically. Then she sighed. "I-I should get going. Don't worry, I'm sure that a Hero will help you…" she muttered, before turning away.
Not anything he hadn't heard before. Rin hunched back up, trying to stay warm. Some of his father's words came back through his mind, causing him to flinch.
You're sick, and you need to be cured!
Maybe he was diseased like that, if nobody wanted to help him. Weren't there supposed to be Heroes everywhere? Maybe a policeman or something?
Suddenly, he heard footsteps come up, followed by a pitter-patter of dog claws on pavement. Slightly startled, he looked up.
In front of him was a guy in a hoody who was almost as skinny as he was, staring at Rin with red eyes framed by white hair. Next to him, a corgi wagged its tail happily before going over and giving him a lick. The taller man seemed to start at that, giving him a vaguely concerned look. "...You okay?"
Something broke within him and Rin started to sob, grateful that somebody was actually helping him. The man carefully pulled on a glove, then held out a hand as he cried, tears mingling with the rain. "Let's get out of the rain. I've got some friends who'll love to meet you."
AN: Holy shit Fuyumi's bit beat me up so hard. Like, seriously that was the main reason this took so long. In between debating costume design and her Quirk - which I've finalised as different from the one I talked about on Discord - I lost track. But after pushing through Fuyumi's monologue the rest of this was easy as pie.
Anyways, Fuyumi's now officially recruited! Not just that, the League now has an actual goal to strive towards! However, Shigaraki also found an extra ally. Rin's story's gonna be fun. Since the inferior League is missing some key players I'm giving Shiggy some extra OCs I came up with.
What even is Fuyumi's Quirk? Or this new OC's? Well, we'll find out.
As always, thank you Banchoking on Spacebattles for editing my Hot Mess of a chapter.
Don't forget to comment and offer me new ideas! Tell me what works and what doesn't and I will be sure to take your advice on board - or dump it off the side, whatever works. Your appreciation means everything to me!
Next time… we're gonna Let It Go!
