On a plane headed to a peace conference. It is silent. Erik HATES the silence. Because it was all he had for 10 years.
"How did you lose them?" Erik asks out if the blue.
"The treatment for my spine affects my dna." Charles said.
"Of course it does. Hank made it after all." Erik scoffs. "You sacrificed your powers so you could walk?" Erik asks.
"I sacrificed my powers so I could sleep." Charles blurts. "Anyway, why do you care? You look pretty well rested to give a damn." Charles scoffs.
"Because while I admit that I have long decided that you gave up on me and you were going to let me rot and die in that cell. I didn't expect for you to give up on the dream." Erik said. "I didn't expect for you to give up on THEM."
"Am I supposed to give a shit if you're mad?" Charles asks.
"Not mad just…disappointed." Erik admits.
"Well a lot can fucking change in 10 years." Charles said.
"Clearly." Erik said. "You become the very coward Shaw claimed you were."
"I am NOT a coward!" Charles said.
"Angel, Azazel, Emma, Banshee." Erik took a breath. He breathed in and out. If he loses his temper HERE he could kill everyone on board by destroying the plane. And he doesn't want them dead. They're going to have to bleed for their sins. "Countless others. Experimented on and butchered."
"You seriously want to fight Erik?!?" Charles growls.
"That would have to imply each of us have an equal shot of winning." Erik said.
"And here it comes the great Magneto. Better than all the humans right? " Charles said, rolling his eyes.
"Once again you are wrong. I'd like to think I'm better than everyone. No no that's not right either. I HAVE to be better than everyone. Otherwise…what was the point of all this." Erik mutters.
"The point of what?" Charles asks..
"Everything that happened. If it was all bullshit that it was all pointless." Erik said.
"Oh fuck." Logan mutters not liking the direction of the conversation is going.
"The experiments, her dying. Him hurting me. It was all for nothing. Shaw turned me into a monster for nothing. My mother died for nothing." Erik explains. Then he turns to Charles. "Was it worth it?" He asks.
"W-what?" Charles asks.
"Sleeping. Was it worth shutting off the ability to hear our screams?" Erik asks. "Was it worth it."
"I…I don't have to answer that." Charles said.
"Oh course not. Not to me. Hell not even to yourself. But maybe..just maybe you might have to answer to Raven." Erik said.
Charles felt his heart clenched at the sound of her name. Erik pulled the Raven card into this. How dare he!
"How dare you bring her into this!" Charles said.
"It's why you're doing your job in the first place." Erik scoffs. "Why you bothered breaking me out. I'm the weapon you need. I'm the one with actual power." He reminds him. "It's why the future is in danger. It's all about Raven."
"Hey bub. Maybe you should quit while you're ahead." Logan said.
"No. I will not. Someone has to say it. Hank is cowardly. You don't give that much of a shit. Someone has to say it. Why not me. I have nothing left to lose anyway." Erik sighs. "I wonder…what face she will make when she finds out what you did. Maybe she'll see you the way you see me. Another monster. The possibilities are endless." Erik shrugs and then he gets up and jeans to use the bathroom. "Sacrificing your powers so you could fucking sleep." He mutters. "Hope it was worth it." He scoffs.
"That's…that's not fair!" Charles said.
"No. I suppose you're right on that front. It's not fair. LOGAN here is proof of that." Erik scoffs.
When Erik leaves Charles pours himself a drink. Then quickly gulps it down.
"Holy shit." Logan said.
"Yeah he's a real piece of work." Charles scoffs.
"He's an asshole and you're a dick." Logan said.
"Excuse me!?!" Charles asks.
"You fucked up Charlie." Logan said bluntly. "You both did. Now you're too drunk and he's too fucking crazy." He scoffs. "God no wonder he told me to break him out." He mutters.
"What does that mean!?!" Charles asks.
"It means the fact that he's batshit crazy in the future makes so much fucking sense now." Logan said.
"So much….have you been listening to anything that just happened!?!?" Charles asks.
"I watched. I also know that you're a little shit and he's a crazy asshole. And if you do get your damn shit together. We're all fucked." Logan said.
