SCG Team Number: 1

Mission Planet:Earth

Report Written By: Dr. Daniel Jackson

Mission Dimension:Unknown

Rank: Civilian

Mission Nature: Recon.

This is my best recollection of the events that have transpired during the attack on the SGC. I have discussed with my team members what their thoughts were during these events and have filled in the blanks with this information. We were sent to find help from another version of Earth. The plan was to find a version of the SGC that was not under attack. The order was given by General Hamond. This report is written in the third person as to retain anonymity in the event that it should be read by anyone other than SGC staff.

Chapter One

Daniel Jackson looked through the dimensional mirror in confusion. There did not appear to be anything dangerous about the world on the other side, though it was so different from his own. Behind him, the SGC was in ruins and Jaffa were searching for him and his team. He had no time to look for a more suitable reality to flee to so, after his friends retreated through, he reached out and touched the mirror. The mirror emitted a blinding flash and suddenly, he was in the world that he was viewing through the mirror just moments ago. Daniel quickly flipped a switch on the controller in his hand and the mirror went dark.

Turning his head, he took in the scene around him. The rest of his team were nowhere in sight. He was in a dark closet, much like the one that he was in before. This closet, however, did not contain United States military equipment. Instead, he seemed to be in a food storage room full of rice, spices and several dried meats. As he left the closet, he found himself in an enormous, japanese style temple. Everything was red. There were huge red banners with a flame emblem at their center. A giant statue of an old, bearded man wearing red and orange robes stood in the center of the room.

"Hey!", he heard a shout from the other side of the statue. "Are you with the others?"

Daniel craned his neck, trying to see where the voice was coming from. "The other people that are dressed like me?" Daniel asked.

Colonel O'Neill, Major Carter and Teal'c had all gone through just before he had, but he did not see them anywhere when he arrived. He was not sure whether he was in hostile territory or not, so he was hesitant to call out to them. "Yeah, that's who I mean." the voice sounded like it was coming from a young boy, possibly fourteen or fifteen years old.

"I am with them; yes. We don't mean you any harm." Daniel responded. The boy stepped out from behind the statue. He was bald, with a blue arrow tattooed on his head and hands. He was wearing what looked like a monk's robe and he held a staff in his right hand.

"I believe you. You seem like good people." the boy responded with a smile. "Your friends say that they came through that dark mirror in the closet. How did you do that?"

Daniel felt the tension leave his body, "I'm not sure how it works exactly but it connects parallel realities. We were running from people who are attacking our world."

The boy's eyes grew wide with surprise, "Another world? What's it called?"

"Earth," Daniel replied, "We were hoping to find help here." He stood, staring at the boy hopefully. Maybe this kid could bring him to someone that could help them. They didn't seem very technologically advanced, but he has been mistaken about these types of things before. The Nox came to mind.

"I can help you!" the boy said, "I'm the Avatar."

Daniel could not help but smile. He did not know what an avatar was but this child would definitely get killed or enslaved if we brought him back with us. "You seem like a nice person; what is your name?"

"Aang" the boy replied.

"Well, Aang, this is the sort of problem that adults should handle; don't you think?" Daniel chuckled.

"I just told you that I am the Avatar. Don't you have an Avatar in your world?" Aang looked confused.

"I'm not sure what you are talking about, Aang. Could you explain it to me?" Daniel was desperately hoping that Aang knew something that could help him save his reality.

"It would probably be easier to understand if I showed you." Aang gestured to the door leading out of the temple. Daniel followed him out into a courtyard, skeptically. "We have to go outside to do any bending. Last time I was air bending in the palace, Zuko got upset." When they reached the center of the courtyard, Aang suddenly became serious and focused, taking a martial arts stance. He breathed in slowly through his nose and threw a punch. Much to Doctor Jackson's surprise, fire erupted from Aang's fist as he threw the punch. Aang, then turned and threw a kick in Daniel's direction and wind flurried past his head, causing him to instinctively duck. Next, the boy stomped on the ground and raised both of his fists into the air. Two pillars of solid rock lifted them both ten feet from the courtyard. Aang made a fluid-like motion with his arms and some water flowed from a near-by fountain, through the air and stopped above their heads.

Daniel could not believe his eyes, even after everything he had seen on his missions through the Stargate. As he looked at the pool of water suspended above his head, he thought of the Stargate and the SGC. He snapped back to reality. "How did you do that? Are you ascended?"

"Ascended? What's that mean?"

"It's when you move on to a higher plane of existence and your body becomes pure energy."

"Oh," said Aang, "Kinda," he raised his hands in the air, then lowered them slowly with his palms facing down. As he did, the water above their heads rained down upon them. "I am the link between the physical world and the spirit world" explained Aang.

"Okay" Daniel said, his voice trailing off as he tried to think of what to say next. After a brief moment of the two just staring at each other, Daniel spoke up. "Can everyone do that here?"

"Not everyone, just most people, but everyone else can only bend one of the elements. Only I can bend all four" Aang said with an ear-to-ear grin. Then his grin slowly faded. "Oh," he added, "and I'm the only one that can air bend."
