I got so nervous about suddenly having all eyes on me, that I quickly bowed and proceeded to run for my life. Not because I think they'll kill me, but because there's a gazillion eyes just staring at me!

I went to dodge behind a pillar, only to run into more…isn't this Noelle?

"Don't disgrace our family further by even trying to do like the others. A place has already been found for you."

I don't know why. Noelle has never been my favorite. She was always rude and mean needlessly. Even still…

"Don't call her a disgrace you creep!" The words left my mouth before I could even think.

They both looked my way, but Noelle proceeded to look down and away, while Nozel glared at me.

"A filthy commoner." He muttered while taking out his grimoire. "I'll teach you to interfere with royals."

In the blink of an eye, I went from being a few feet away, to being right in his face. I can't see anything but red.

"Do not think to harm me or anyone else simply to prove a point. " I spoke in a cold tone and snatched him by the throat. "Or you will be subject to judgement."

I let go as I came back to my senses.

Why….?

I looked toward Noelle who simply stared while her brother quickly departed.

"I'm sorry." I said softly and turned to go back to Asta. Back where it's safe.

As if given a break for the first time in forever, I bumped smack into Asta.

"Y/n! I was looking for you! It's about to start!" He smiled brightly at me and I couldn't hold myself back from immediately wrapping my arms around him in a hug.

I felt my the rage, sadness, and fear quickly dissolve only to be replaced with the fact that I am not hugging Asta in the middle of the arena.

I squeaked and let go, apologizing profusely.

He rubbed the back of his neck saying it was fine, but his face is red as a tomato.

Did I hurt him?

My thoughts were interrupted by Yuno. "You both should be more aware of your surroundings. This is not the place to show weakness."

Weakness? Is that how he sees me?

I looked won at my feet for a moment before looking back up into his eyes. "I promise I won't cause either of you to be weak." I bowed again out of respect while feeling my heart grow cold inside. I stood up without another word and walked away to the other side of the arena.

"Y/n! Don't mind Yuno! He's just like that, but he is a good guy! Even if he is a tall, handsome jerk!"

The words of Asta pulled me out of my pain. I didn't even realize he had come after me. I looked at him and just felt so happy to have someone who cared enough to come after me.

I smiled at him and gave a simple nod. "I know Asta. Thank you."

Asta looked at me confused. "Why are you thanking me? I didn't do anything."

I smiled at him and walked over to him to look directly into his eyes. "Being there for someone is more valuable than power. You may not have magic, Asta, but you have saved me several times already."

"I DID?!"

I laughed and nodded again.

Just then, the leader of the Golden Dawn spoke saying it was time to begin.

The first step was flying on a broom. Asta wasn't able to do this, and of course, Yuno did it with ease. Sekke had stepped in to "assist" Asta.

I was given a broom as well, but it seemed…..odd.

I looked at Yuno flying around. It really was amazing how he was able to move so easily and quickly without much effort. I got so lost in thought, admiring how well he was doing, before my thoughts were interrupted by sudden gasps and "how is she doing that?!"

"Y/n! YOU'RE DOING IT!"

Asta? Why does he sound so far away…OMGOODNESS!

I had simply looked toward Asta's voice only to realize he was several feet, not just away, but BELOW me.

Wings….very large wings….

Whose voice is that?

I turned and looked directly at the Captain of the Golden Dawn. Before I knew it, I was right in front of him, staring deeply into his eyes.

"Hello there. My name is William." He spoke so softly, but that voice…I heard a voice from here….

Are you okay? I heard you but I don't hear you anymore.

I hovered in front of William feeling lost.

Am I really going crazy?

You are very strange.

I jerked my eyes up to meet Williams'.

You seem very attuned.

Attuned? Attuned to what?

He didn't respond again. It made me sad and I felt my shoulders droop a little. I took a deep breath before looking into Williams' eyes again.

You don't have to say anything else. I promise I will help ease your pain.

With that, I reached forward and brought William into a hug.

The Magic Knight Captains were more than surprised, they were downright shocked. This young woman is speaking softly to William. That in and of itself isn't strange. What's strange is she is flying in front of him. Wings broader and brighter than clouds.

When she opened her arms, Nozel immediately jumped up to fight, only for William to signal that he was fine.

He was indeed fine, as she only gave him a hug.

I pulled away and looked at William again.

"I am very sorry. I just wanted to give you hope." I said with a soft smile.

"I will go back now!" With a slight wave, I turned and landed next to Asta, who is currently staring at me with his eyes so big, they might actually fall out of his head.

The final piece of the exam was a one on one fight with other examinees. Sekke immediately grabbed Asta, saying he would be his partner.

I really don't like that guy.

I stood on the side as I watched the whisper of Sekke and Asta's face change. As they parted to start, I wanted to encourage him. I am embarrassed for sure, but I have already done so much, I might as well keep going.

"KICK HIS BUTT ASTA!"

Asta looked at me and smiled, before focusing.

The whole thing was much better than when I read about it.

He sent that Sekke dude flying!

When he exclaimed he would be the Wizard King, and the whispering started again, the horrible rudeness of others was the very last thing on my mind. I couldn't help but smile and feel so proud of him!

So many others did pretty good, and many many others…not so much.

When it was Yuno's turn, I wasn't really sure what to do. I want to cheer him on, but I don't want him to be angry.

I stood staring as he began to walk out to face his opponent, only to hesitate for a moment.

Did he glance at me?

When he kept going, I decided it had to be my imagination and settled on remaining silent.

His magic is definitely a formidable power. He won with no problem at all and I was happy for him. I tried very hard, however, to remain calm as not to distract him or anything else.

"Hey Ms. Wings, how about fighting someone with real magic?" I threw a glance in the direction of the voice I heard, to see some jerk scowling at me.

I could hear he and his friends laughing about the new nicknamed he came up with for me. I put on my best blank face I had learned from Yuno and nodded.

"That's fine."

I listened to him joke with his friends about me being easy to beat since I only had wings and a pretty face.

The more I heard, the calmer I felt.
