Lucy Control, 7-L-19. Do you copy? Oh! It's gonna be fine. This is fine. They will do a welfare check when I don't report in, and this is fine. Until then, I will read, because there is nothing else to do.
She starts to just read through all of the message boards about Rosalind. If she doesn't, she will put herself back into the barrel, and she has done way too much work over the past year to go back there.
She also can't help but think about Tim. She isn't sure exactly what is going on between them, ok she does a little bit, but it isn't like him to just avoid her like he had been. Him telling her to go to the UC school hurt, like she knows that he was looking out for her and she knows he wants what's best for her, it was the way he told her to go, it felt like he was pushing her away and it hurts.
Tim was driving around with Thorsen, and he can't help but want to reach out to Lucy. He was kind of hoping that she'd ask to go back to gofer duty when she came back. Thorsen is fine enough, but he isn't Lucy, hell no one is Lucy. He wants what is best for her, and maybe her spreading her wings is what is best for her.
Tim cannot believe that Thorsen got duped by this kid. Tim is hoping they scared the kid straight a little bit though he really does. he is also happy that he got a free ps5 out of this whole mess.
They are out driving after the kid and Tim realizes he hasn't heard Lucy over the radio for a while.
Lucy is thinking to herself she's been in here awhile now, it should be about time for a wellness check soon.
Tim asks Aaron first, then into dispatch, 2 hours. He is going to find her, his mind flashes back to the desert that day though, but he has to have faith that she will not be in that situation again. She is going to be fine; she is strong.
Lucy hears her name being called "Chen" she thinks to herself, that's Tim's voice, he found me again. Of course, he did, eh him and Aaron are probably just in the area it isn't anything special.
Tim pulled the door open and his first instinct was "are you ok" Lucy pushed it from her head quickly "I think I found Rosalind".
It's lunch time at the food trucks, Lucy and Tim haven't really talked since he told her to go to UC school, he is proud of her, probably more so than any other rookie he's ever trained. He might actually tell her; she needs to hear it.
Lucy is worried about Chris, she's worried about the condition of her friendship with Tim. They haven't really talked much since she went to school and came back. She loved school, she enjoyed UC work and she was good at it, but she is also afraid of going too deep. She admires Nyla for what she did, but she wouldn't wanna unplug from her life like that.
Lucy was standing over by her favorite truck waiting on her food Tim took the opportunity to check up on her, "waiting on a veggie burger extra pickle?" he asked, trying to ease into a conversation. She was more upset than she had realized that it seemed they had to start with small talk. "yeah" she said with an awkward smile, he smiled at her.
He was annoyed at himself that he started this with some awkward small talk, this was Lucy the only rookie he's ever had that has gotten into her personal life, the only rookie he's ever had that has slept on his couch. He took a deep breath "are you ok? After being trapped today I. I. I. thought maybe".
she sighed at him looked at him and asked "thought that maybe being trapped id have flashbacks to the barrel?".
he sighed put his hand nervously on the back of his head "yeah a little".
she smiled at him and said "Tim, I appreciate your concern, but no I am fine, I knew you'd find me again".
He smiled at her and said "I know things have been weird, but there is never a time I wouldn't look for you" they exchanged deep looks, and smiles,
"I know, how did you find me, and the truth this time," he was about to say something,
she said "Tim I've seen the footage, I know you found me in the barrel, so again I ask how did you find me today?"
They looked at each other and he rubbed the back of his head and said "well I noticed it'd been awhile since I heard you on the radio, I asked Thorsen how long it had been, he said he thought it'd been awhile and then I radioed to dispatch to do a check on you, and they said it had been over 2 hours since you communicated, I told them id handle that problem later, I guess that is what happens when Nell is on vacation, I told them to send me your last location and then that was it",
she smiled at him and said "like I said I knew you would find me"
"Veggie burger" the person from the truck called out Lucy goes to grab it.
then Tim calls out to her "Hey Lucy" she turns
"yeah" he takes a deep breath and says,
"Remember at Harpers wedding during our dance I told you that you were in the top 5 rookies I've ever trained",
she smiled "of course",
he looked down then looked back at her and said "well I just want you to know, you are THE top rookie I've ever trained, I am proud of what you have accomplished",
she almost got emotional over that, she knew that he cared but she never thought she would hear him actually say it "thank you Tim, that means a lot to me" he smiled at her,
He simply said, "of course".
They walked back to the table and started eating lunch with everyone else.
