Day 4: Wings
Spread your wings
The most absolute silence fills the shrine's hallways on her walk, the sound of her heels clacking against the floor echoing around loudly while breaking the quietness reigning over the sacred place that does nothing but unsettle Yae, putting her on edge as she keeps advancing with the faint light of the moon accompanying her.
As she turns a corner, she can't help but feel the uneasiness inside her increasing as a sickening odor hits her nostrils.
Yae halts on her steps, the faint light of the full moon darkening for some minutes as a prelude of what she is about to witness next, before she recognizes the sickening odor, the smell of iron filling the air and suffocating her as the clouds darkening the moon dispel to let her discover a trail of blood on the floor.
The priestess gasps horrified at the sight in front of her, quickening her pace through the hallways, before she gets out and observes a figure standing in the middle of the sacred place's entrance.
Terror runs now through her entire body for a moment, before she recognizes the woman in front of her, letting out a sigh of relief upon the sight of her beloved general and wife.
And yet, Yae can't help but squint her eyes at the general, following down with her gaze the trail of blood painting the stairway that she has been following to then notice how it stops right beneath her wife's figure.
As she runs her eyes over the general's body, Yae can't help but gasp appalled once again upon the crimson color staining the immaculate white of Sara's uniform, before her gaze stops at her face, a slight cut parting her always kissable lips as they curl up in an attempt of smile that ends up as a grimace.
Sorry.
It's all Yae can read out of them, before the standing general falls, eliciting a yell from the pink haired priestess who can't help but descend the stairway running, hurrying to where her wife lies hoping that whatever wound she has and that made her bleed out can be easily healed.
But as soon as she reaches the general, she can see there's something clearly wrong with her, noticing Sara's back covered completely in blood as well as her uniform is torn apart.
Yae places her hands over Sara's back cautiously, palpating it carefully, close to her wife's shoulder blades and the part that seems to be bleeding more profusely when she hears her Sara's voice in a bare whisper.
- He cut them off.
Sara says laboriously, causing Yae's hands to waver and stop halfway as she processes her wife's words, her face morphing into a horror one at their implication.
Her wings! He cut her perfect beautiful wings off!
Yae's brain screams loudly in alarm upon the marred skin under her touch, tears flooding down her eyes as she suffocates in the smell of iron filling the air, in the thought of Kujou Takayuki cutting Sara's perfect and beautiful wings off, before she brings a hand to her mouth, stopping halfway as she sees the crimson color tainting it.
Yae then heaves awake abruptly, her heart beating loudly against her ears in the middle of the deafening night, barely suppressing a wave of nauseas, before she pulls the sheets off her body to get out of bed and stumble through the room on her rush to the bathroom just in time to puke.
Another wave of nauseas hits her as she remembers her nightmare, obliging her to end puking the contents in her stomach, before she feels a pair of calloused hands brushing the sticky hair out of her face to tie it back in a messy ponytail, feeling then somebody crouching next to her as her back is rubbed in circles.
- Hey, are you okay? Is the baby bothering you?
The soft voice of her wife pulls Yae out of her torment, making tears roll down her face upon Sara's care for her and their future kid, before the pink haired woman shakes her head, a shaky breath escaping her lips preventing her to say anything.
- Shhh, it's okay. Come here, my love.
Sara says as she pulls her wife into her body, feeling her climbing into it to hide her face in the crook of her neck as her crying intensifies, her hands circling her wife's back to grab her shirt so hard that Sara can feel her wife's fingers leaving a mark on her back as if Yae was about to tear apart the fabric of her shirt at any moment.
- I-it was a nightmare.
The pink haired woman manages to say in between sobs, and the dark purple haired woman can only grow more worried as she hugs her tightly against her, feeling her wife's body trembling hard.
Whatever thing Yae has dreamt about was surely worst than any simple nightmare she could have ever had if it has managed to put her into such a state.
Sara can only wrap Yae tighter if possible in her arms as she tries to calm her down, kissing her temple as she coos sweet comforting words in her ear.
- Shhh, it's okay, everything it's okay my love. Don't worry, I'm here.
Sara coos reassuringly, seeing how her words and the tight feeling of her embrace around her wife seems to be having a calming effect on her as the pink haired woman slowly relaxes and breathes evenly once again, lost sobs escaping her lips as Sara combs her hair, before she dries the tears that still fall from her mesmerizing amethyst eyes.
- Do you feel better now?
Sara asks with concern yet with a tender smile on her lips much different to the grimace Yae recalls from her nightmare, eliciting a new wave of tears to fall from her eyes that shock and worries Sara equally.
- Hey, hey, it's okay! It was just a nightmare, you're okay, you're safe. I've got you, my love.
The dark purple haired woman rushes to say as she looks into Yae's eyes seriously, hoping it can help her to calm down as she peppers kisses all over her wife's precious face to distract her enough to stop crying and forget about whatever horrors had terrified her in such a way.
- C-can you… – Yae sobs, more tears falling from her eyes, before she struggles to continue – Can you please spread your wings?
She asks quietly, so quietly and scared that Sara almost misses it, but Yae doesn't need to repeat herself twice before she sees Sara smiling at her tenderly, spreading her wings wide open to wrap her in them.
Upon the sight of her wife's large, beautiful and majestic black wings being unfurled and the feeling of them wrapping her tightly in them, Yae can't help but cry hard again, but this time out of relief as she feels Sara holding her until her crying stops.
- Do you want to go back to bed and talk about it? If you feel like doing it, of course – Sara asks ever so politely and softly, eliciting a smile from Yae who can only nod against her chest – Do you think you can walk over there or do you want me to carry you like a princess to bed?
An even though the thought of being carried like a princess to bed is very tempting to the pink haired woman, making her giggle as well as such a melodic sound elicits a smile from Sara, Yae can only shake her head.
- I-I think I can walk.
She replies quietly, feeling Sara unwrapping her wings from around her, making her feel vulnerable and uneasy for a moment, before she observes her wife rising from the bathroom's floor to offer her a hand along with a tender smile.
Yae can only smile timidly back at her always sweet and chivalrous wife, before she grasps her hand tightly and rises too, seeing Sara smiling at her tenderly now to then feel her kissing her hand and her forehead, getting them out of the bathroom while leading them back to their bed.
But halfway there, Yae can't help but let Sara's hand go, causing her wife to halt on her steps and attempt to turn around to ask her what is wrong.
Yet before Sara can even turn around, she feels Yae hugging her from behind, burying her face in between her wings as she brings one of her hands up to touch them, pausing for a second hesitant to do it, before her trembling hand is placed on one of her wings making her wife shiver.
The dark purple haired woman can't help but bite her lip to contain a contented moan as she feels Yae's hand caressing her wing ever so softly.
- I love them.
She hears her wife saying against the start of her wings on her back, leaving a kiss on them that make nothing but send a shiver down her spine.
- I love how beautiful and majesty they always are. How strong they always look making you look intimidating yet how silky they truly are, allowing me to get lost in their softness.
Sara can only smile fondly at her wife's words, a blush tinting her cheeks adorably as she feels Yae hugging her tighter.
- I love how warm and safe they make me feel...
Yae whispers as a new wave of tears flood her eyes, making her touch over Sara's wing waver, before she feels Sara turning around to wrap her tightly in them once again.
Sara barely has the chance to ask her wife anything, before she hears her talking against her chest, touching her wings on the back as she holds onto her tightly.
- He cut them off – Yae repeats the same words Sara told her in her nightmare – Your father… no… that monster of Kujou Takayuki cut them off, and- and it was all my fault, Sara. It was all my fault b-because if I hadn't told him about you, if I hadn't tosh you to him as a kid then… then…
Yae rambles incoherently, burying her face deeper in Sara's chest as she feels her wife holding her so tightly that she could easily be the one tearing her shirt apart now.
- It wasn't your fault, my love. You could never be the one to blame of his way to raise me nor of the atrocities he committed...
- B-but… I… if I didn't…
- Love, it wasn't your fault and it was just a nightmare.
Sara tries to reassure her wife, seeing her looking rather unconvinced.
- Can you feel them? – Sara asks as she flaps her wings under Yae's touch, making her giggle, before she finds herself once again being wrapped tightly in their embrace – I still have my wings with me. He didn't cut them off and won't do anything to them. I can assure you that I would never let him touch my wings, nor do anything to me or you or us for the matter.
Sara promises Yae really serious, feeling her stopping trembling for once, before one last shaky sigh escapes Yae's lips as she caresses her wife's large and lovely wings, feeling them, making her feel calm again.
- Now let's go back to bed, you and the little fox need some sleep.
Sara says softly, taking Yae in her arms as she carries her like a princess to their bed, eliciting a lovely and melodic giggle from her that makes her heart flutter, before they lay down on their bed with Sara wrapping both of her arms and wings tightly around her wife.
- It's all okay. I won't ever let him do anything to them... or us…
Sara reassures her wife, kissing Yae's temple as she feels the pink haired woman hugging her tightly while resting on her chest. A tender smile draws across her lips as her large majestic wings wraps Yae in them tightly, making her feel safe as they always do while slowly drifting to sleep.
- Sweet dreams, my little foxes.
Sara wishes her wife and future kid, leaving a kiss on Yae's forehead as she holds her tightly hoping she has a good sleep, filling her dreams with silky feathers while they play with a little kid wagging her tail in a funny battle against her mothers to see who wags and flaps their tail and wings faster.
