Day 8: Birthday

Making you feel loved

Warm, sweet… is everything a certain dark purple haired woman can think of as she slowly wakes up from her slumber at sharp 5:05 AM in the morning, her eyes fluttering open to watch through the window of her room how the sun is still hidden and enjoying its peaceful slumber just like the woman in her arms.

A fond smile spreads across her lips as Sara watches Yae sleeping soundly in her embrace, a calm smile adorning her lips much different to the smirk she usually wears and that makes her heart skip a beat as she snuggles into the pink haired woman tighter yet careful to not wake her up.

Sara can't help but then bury her nose in between the pink haired woman's silky locks, letting herself be intoxicated by her sweet scent like Sakura petals.

Her smile only widens as she hears Yae grumbling lightly, before snuggling more into her tight embrace, eliciting a quiet giggle from the always stoic general as her eyes flutter close and she lets the sweet scent of Yae's hair lull her back to sleep.

In any normal day, Sara would usually detach herself carefully from the embrace not wanting to wake up the beauty in her arms, hearing her whining pitifully as she covers her with the blankets so Yae doesn't get cold, and before she starts to get ready to leave and run exactly five laps around the city before going to work.

But today is one of those rare days which the general has off.

Rare.

The word echoes in her mind as a chuckle escapes her lips recalling how their Shogun and also best friend, Ei, obliged her to take some days off after Yae practically stormed in one of their meetings to threaten both warriors to give them a hell if the hard-working general AND also lovely girlfriend wasn't off duty for her birthday.

Another chuckle escapes her lips as Sara recalls Ei's frightened expression, understanding perfectly her reaction, before the Shogun looked at her apologetically and quickly agreed with the Head priestess' request.

There was nothing left for the general to do but also agree with her girlfriend much to Yae's delight who could only smirk deviously, her fangs showing as she winked at them to then turn around and leave the Tenshukaku as if she didn't just threaten the most powerful warriors in Inazuma, both its God and general.

The general can only chuckle and leave a soft kiss on Yae's long hair, amused at how her girlfriend seems to be like a little devil awake while a true angel asleep, before she finally and slowly drifts to the land of dreams.

It isn't until several hours later than the angelic pink haired woman in her arms slowly wakes up, her eyes fluttering open because of the light of the sun filtering into their room to bath it with its golden hues.

Yae can only smile fondly as she watches the peaceful expression adorning her sweet general's features, giggling quietly at how she always seems to turn around in her sleep to bury her face in her girlfriend's chest and the safety of her embrace as Sara's heartbeat helps her to have sweet dreams.

The pink haired woman can't help but watch Sara tenderly, the sun shining on her as if creating a fire aura around her that makes her look even more powerful than she already is and that prompts her to let her fingertips brush Sara's features ever so feathery, careful to not wake her up, before she leaves a fleeting kiss on her plump lips, seeing Sara smiling unconsciously at it.

This only elicits another giggle from Yae, before she steals another kiss from her lovely girlfriend to then slowly and sadly having to detach herself from Sara's warm embrace, leaving another kiss on her hair while covering her as she hears her girlfriend grumbling lightly.

Yae smiles at this cute side of Sara, watching her girlfriend sleeping soundly for a brief moment, before stealing Sara's hoodie on her way out, putting it on to then sneak out of their bedroom, taking a quick look at the sleeping beauty in bed and the small surprise she left for her by her side, before heading to the kitchen to begin making breakfast so they can have enough energy for the long list of things she has prepared for Sara's birthday. Something easy knowing how her girlfriend isn't fond of grandeur celebrations.

Yae can only smile as she cracks some eggs into a bowl and starts to beat them to make some pancakes for their breakfast, giggling as she thinks on the little fox she plans to draw on Sara's pancakes once they're ready, to wish her a happy birthday.

After that, she has planned for them to go out taking a stroll in between the bloomed Sakura trees, knowing how much Sara likes it and the peace that walking in between them brings within, before they reach their favorite place: a small lake hidden in the deepest and most remote part of the forest, the perfect spot to have a picnic lunch on it and eat the ten onigiris she prepared beforehand while enjoying the nature surrounding them, and only after have played and swam in the water.

Yae can't help but smile wider, tenderly as she remembers how the stoic general usually blushes upon have been caught after been smiling so widely with such simple things.

Yet the pink haired woman's heart also breaks in contrast at how Sara isn't used to enjoy such said simple things because of her childhood and how hard was her adoptive father towards her. How she isn't used to show how happy things can make her, and especially, to celebrate her birthday and feel loved.

The pink haired woman shakes her head not wanting to be sad on such an important day, and focuses back on the frying pan so she doesn't burn their pancakes. She doesn't want to be like Ei after all.

She can't help but giggle at this thought, before she keeps going over the list of the following things she has planned for them.

After eating, all she has planned is for the general to rest and relax on the grass by the lake's shore, hearing the water running and the birds trilling as a soft breeze blows and while she turns into her little fox form to let her girlfriend pet her soft fur, not admitting how much she likes it too and be able like that to witness the tender expression on Sara's face.

An expression that never fails to make her heart flutter upon the love shining in her golden eyes, before the night falls and they have to go back home where a last and especially made gift awaits for the general to be discovered, before Yae pampers her with a lot of love of course.

Yae can't help but feel nervous then, hoping Sara likes the figurine of a pink fox that resembles to her, laying with a crow resting against its body and under the shelter of its fluffy tail.

A soft smile spreads across her lips as she remembers going to the best craftsman of all Inazuma to request for such an exclusive gift for Sara's birthday, as well as she thinks about the day she has planned for her girlfriend.

In another room and unaware to her girlfriend's nervousness, a certain dark purple haired woman is awakening slowly once again upon the empty and cold feeling of a certain sly woman missing in her arms.

A light grumble escapes her lips upon not feeling Yae close, before she opens her eyes, a smile spreading across her lips as soon as she sees a pink hoodie taking up what is supposed to be her girlfriend's spot on their bed.

Sara can't help but giggle at the subtle way her girlfriend has to tell her to put it on, before she takes it and slips on it, smiling widely as Yae's sweet Sakura scent wraps her in it, warming her.

With a soft smile still present on her face, Sara ventures through their house in search of her sly girlfriend, only to find her by the stove of the kitchen with a dark purple hoodie on.

Sara can't help but let out a quiet giggle as she sees how her girlfriend stole her hoodie, before she crosses the negligible distance separating them to sneak stealthy and hug the pink haired woman from behind, leaving a kiss on Yae's temple as she observes her cooking.

- Did you just steal my hoodie? – Sara asks softly, already knowing the answer to her question.

Yae can only smirk widely as she relaxes into Sara's embrace, feeling her tightening it around her waist.

- Maybe – she answers playfully, turning around slightly to kiss Sara – But admit it looks better on me.

She ends up saying with a wink, eliciting a laugh from the dark purple haired woman.

- It does indeed.

Sara replies with a tender smile on her lips and nothing but love in her eyes as she sees Yae on her hoodie.

- You also look good on mine.

Yae retorts playfully, trying to hide the light blush on her cheeks as she focuses on the last pancakes and the special birthday message she aims to draw on Sara's ones.

But before she can crack the eggs for the last one, Sara's hand takes her hand in hers to bring it to her lips and kiss it.

- Let me help you.

Sara asks softly, making her girlfriend blush more, before shaking her head.

- Absolutely not. It's your birthday, therefore is your day to rest and let me pamper you.

Yae says seriously, quickly pushing Sara away until she's by the kitchen table frowning slightly while opening her mouth to say something back, before her girlfriend presses a finger against her lips to silence her.

- My lovely little bird, you know I'd be more than happy to let you help me... But today is special, it's your birthday and as such, I'd like to be able to pamper my girlfriend as she deserves.

Yae explains to Sara as she cups her cheeks and caress them affectionately, feeling Sara sighing deeply as she places her hands over hers to then leave a kiss on them.

- Yae, you know it's just another day for me. There's no need to do anything special for it.

Sara tries fruitlessly to convince the pink haired woman who can only shake her head in return, looking at her sadly, before she pulls her into a deep kiss that makes her breathless.

- It might be another day for you because you didn't know otherwise for your whole life, but to me it's something special that deserves to be cherished and celebrated. You deserve to be happy, to have fun and relax, to be pampered and feel loved. So please, let me show you how much you mean to me and how much I love you and cherish you.

And even though Sara wants to insist that it isn't necessary to go through all those troubles just because it's her birthday when Yae makes her feel important and loved every single minute of every single day, the soft smile on her girlfriend's lips and the utter love radiating her eyes, elicits an equal soft smile from her as she leaves a caress on Yae's face and kisses her tenderly.

- Okay, but at least allow me to set the table and help you to make the chocolate.

Sara says softly, and Yae can't help but giggle because of course her girlfriend would insist on wanting to help her even if it's on such trivial things as those.

She can only agree, kissing Sara once again, before they finish making breakfast while setting the table and placing the mugs of hot chocolate on it and the plates with the pancakes and a very special message in one of them.

"Happy birthday! I ❤️ U ?¬タン

The birthday woman can't help but smile tenderly, moved by her girlfriend's cute detail as her heart feels warm upon feeling so loved for once in her life in such a special day.

- Thank you.

She whispers heartfelt, trying to hold her tears as Yae giggles and interlaces their fingers together, getting closer to her girlfriend to steal a deep and tender kiss from her that makes her giggle too, shooing away the ghost of tears from her golden eyes.

- Don't thank me yet. I have a lot of surprises stored for you today that I hope you'll like and enjoy and that makes you feel loved.

- I'm sure they will. I already feel like that.

Sara says softly, her heart about to burst out of love upon having such a wonderful and lovely girlfriend, remembering how it was her life before Yae stormed into it and changed it completely.

She feels the other woman squeezing her hand in encouragement, helping her to collect herself as they begin to eat their delicious pancakes, after all, they'll need a lot of energy for all the things Yae has planned for her birthday even if it's going to be a calm day with nothing out of the ordinary.
