It wasn't weird to see Danny eating something strange. The food in his house was usually sentient. Sometimes, he would come back from the Ghost Zone with something that Sam would rather not know about, much less taste. Even the cafeteria food and stuff from the Nasty Burger were a bit questionable. Yet, Sam was sure this took the cake.
"Danny, why are you eating candy with Skulker's face on them?"
The ghost boy barely glanced at the bowl of candy in front of him, before shrugging. "It was free candy and didn't have my dad's face on it. Meaning that it's relatively safe to eat, probably; or at least won't have blood blossoms hidden in it. Already made that mistake once this spoopy season, don't feel like doing that again."
"But Skulker wants to hunt you down and hang your skin on his wall."
Danny shrugged, popping another chocolate into his mouth. "Don't worry, I asked Clockwork if there was something laced in them and they just dumped more candy on me, saying to not bother them when I go into a sugar frenzy."
"Clockwork had candy with Skulker's face on them too?"
"Everyone does. Something about the world's greatest hunter wanting recognition. I just figure it's like whatever my dad feels when he slaps the word Fenton and a picture of his face on everything."
Sam's eyes locked on the incoming figure of the tech nerd, hoping that he would also help get their idiot friend to stop eating candy he got from his enemy. Unfortunately for her though, Tucker immediately perked up and snatched a handful from Danny's bowl. Danny growled at him, letting his eyes flash neon before returning to his candy.
"Don't give me that dude," Tucker chastised. "I've been waiting for Skulker's candy just as long as you have! We agreed to share it!"
"You agreed to that," Danny said, protectively curling around his bowl. "I did no such thing. Go hunt the suit-wearing blob yourself if you want candy."
"Why do I even bother with you two?" Sam sighed, but sneakily stole her own piece from Danny's bowl, while he glared at the nerd.
Scream vs Laugh LaughIf you asked anyone what their favorite thing about Phantom was, most would answer that it was his laugh. A laugh that filled the air with joy and hope. Phantom was constantly making jokes or puns that were quickly followed by his laugh. It wasn't the laugh of someone who suffered an incredibly painful death, but of a kid filled to the brim with life.
When Phantom wasn't laughing or making the situation seem fun, that was when people worried. If the teenage ghost boy was serious with no thought of puns or quips anywhere on the same planet as him, Amity knew that something major was wrong. The townsfolk hated that side of their ghostly hero; not because they hated him, but because of what a serious Phantom implied.
No, the town much rather the air be filled with jokes and puns and laughter. They would join in on the ghost's laughter when he appeared at the community wide Halloween event in a bed sheet with blazing green eyes staring out from chopped holes with a badly made sign saying 'ghost'. They would laugh with him as he acted starstruck whenever a small child in a black and white outfit appeared in his view. Some would even laugh when Danny Fenton appeared with a sign on his shirt saying 'human'. Laughter was had by all regardless of ghostliness or not.
Really, Amity was better off with sounds of laughter than any other sound.
Mutant vs Cryptid Cryptid"And that concludes my presentation!" Wes announced, excitedly. "Are there any questions?"
Someone rose their hand, before asking. "So, if Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster got into a fight, who would win?"
"Bigfoot, as it can just throw things from the safety of the shore," Wes answered, unamused. "Any real questions?"
Wes looked around the classroom, hoping for someone to ask something interesting. Reasons why these cryptids were so difficult to locate and photograph. Why would they hide in the first place. Even so much as a 'why bring them up' would have been welcomed. But no, with another snicker Dash asked if Sasquatch and Bigfoot were roommates.
Wes sighed, knowing that it was futile to make these dumb nuts understand. He took his flash drive from Lancer's computer and started back to his desk, defeated. Yet, as he walked, he saw a flash of blue come from a certain loser's mouth. Blue eyes flicked to his friends before they flashed green and the guy just vanished. Wes froze, not understanding what he just witnessed, but then the ghost alarms started up and he was shepherded out of the school with the rest of his classmates. All of this seemed to happen fast enough that no one but Wes and the freak's friends knew that Danny Fenton didn't follow his class outside.
The only thought now on the conspiracist's mind was that he had class with a cryptid and he would not rest until the rest of his classmates saw the cryptid, finally realizing that Wes was right. That cryptids were real.
Goo vs Glitter GlitterJazz was a mature adult. She knew how to file her family's taxes, write expense reports that were ignored by her parents and their impulsive spending, parent her little brother, and balance her life so she had time to go see her friends. Jazz was definitely a grown up, mature seventeen year old.
Then she bit into a mash potato and bean prank cookie.
"DANNY YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!"
Cackles shot through the air as someone ran from the living room and up the stairs. Jazz glared at the cookie, disappointed that it wasn't chocolate chip. Still, she now had another thing to deal with, because it would not stand to let her little brother prank her without so much as a revenge prank. Jazz also wanted to make sure that it put a smile on Danny's face, which would make it all difficult. Still, she had plenty of time to come up with something.
"Oooh, I didn't know Mads made cookies!"
"Dad, wait!"
Being fair, seeing Jack's reaction made Jazz feel a little better about the prank.
"Alright, Mr. Fenton," Lancer finally relented, "you are free to go."
Danny groaned as he stood up for the first time in three hours. Having Lancer for two classes and then lunch detention in a row really didn't agree with his tired body. Then again, any prolonged lack of movement didn't agree with him. Living in Amity and being half ghost made him too used to lots of movement, so he did not like sitting still so long. Good thing none of his enemies had shown up so far at least.
Mr. Lancer chuckled at his wayward student before holding the door open for him. "I suggest you walk around for a bit before our next class, Mr. Fenton."
Danny merely nodded. He had barely took a step out of the classroom when his ghost sense went off. He tensed as the hallway turned bright green with purple lasers going all over the place. Someone screamed 'dance party!' as common ghost faces appeared out of nowhere. It probably spoke to how common ghosts were in Amity that the hallway full of students were more confused than scared as music blasted from somewhere and ghosts pulled people into the random dance party.
The entire thing lasted roughly thirty seconds, long enough to understand what was happening and that there wasn't any danger, but not long enough to actually do anything about them. With a loud bang, confetti and glitter shot out of Skulker's weapons and the ghosts disappeared.
"Dante's Inferno!" Lancer managed to sputter, breaking the shock of the hallway.
A laugh started up, quickly followed by another, until the whole hallway was laughing, save for Danny and Lancer. Lancer rushed into the hallway, demanding if anyone was hurt or if anyone had information about what just happened. Before Danny could slip back into the classroom to go ghost and demand to know what that was about, Jazz appeared, with a grin that unsettled him. Without hesitating, she dump a cup full of green and purple glitter on his head.
"Told you I would get you back."
Danny blinked before grinning back at her. "I guess I owe my big sister a loving hug for showing me."
She narrowed her eyes and started moving away from him. "Don't you dare."
When the two Fenton kids returned to their house, both were covered from head to toe in glitter. Both knew that there was going to be glitter all over town for the next year from the random dance party, but they were joking and having a good laugh, seeing the other. Both were too busy chatting and laughing to see their mother watching from the kitchen with a soft smile.
Maddie picked up one of the cookies and wondered what happened at school today that put both of her kids in such good spirits. Then she took a bite and decided that her youngest deserved to be covered in glitter for the next week. Without a second thought, Maddie dumped the remaining tray of prank cookies into the trash and got to work on some real cookies.
