The black market was no place for the Crown Prince. It was filled to the brim with human traffickers, murderers, drug dealers, and many other terrible people. Or at least, according to the rumors it was. To Tamaki however, it sure looked more like a black market, than a slavery trade. Many kinds of illegal wildlife such as phoenixes, unicorns, and even baby harpies made various noises, begging to be let out of their painfully small enclosures with minimal food and water. Illegal drinks, foods and good were also being sold off to the highest bidder, these were things such as dragon eggs, kraken sushi, and cyclops eyes, and they were rare to come by.
Tamaki scanned the area, looking for anything out of the ordinary, or well, *more* out of the ordinary than all these items. Something that was one-of-a-kind, that he would be sure to never see again. He needed something to brag about to his friends and fellow nobles, but also not horribly morally wrong. He wasn't a bad person, simply a little selfish and maybe a slight bit egotistical. Maybe he wanted something with little sentiency, like a fish, he thought.
He followed the large glass tanks full of water, selkies, baby sea monsters, and much more. But all of these things had multiples of them, they weren't unique enough. There was nothing unique enough. He was about to turn back, when he laid eyes on a gorgeous creature. It looked so human and yet also so… primitive. Her tail was a gorgeous shade of lilac, swaying with fluid motions. Though she was graceful, Tamaki could sense her inner strength with his divine powers. Her fin, which was translucent, made the water ripple with just a light flick.
She had fins covering her whole body; tail, arms, and even her face. Gills flapped open and shut on her chest and neck. Her body was frail and skinny, as though she wasn't being fed enough to maintain a healthy weight. A rope was tied around her head, covering her mouth like a gag. He stared in awe at the gorgeous creature, and at that moment, he knew he had to buy her.
He walked up to the old, slightly obese, woman. She had red hair and too-pale skin, she was the one selling the siren. She had an elegant, long, magenta dress and matching hat on, but her wrinkles made her face most distasteful. She turned to the prince, a cocky smile slicked on her face. "This is the last siren to ever exist, the rest have been driven to extinction. I'm not about to sell it to someone who has no money to offer." she quickly added, when she saw Tamaki's state. He chuckled before taking out a bag of gold coins and rare, exotic, not to mention priceless jewelry. Dropping it into her hands, she obviously didn't expect the weight, slightly tipping toward. "This amounts to about a million kahdoba, maybe more. It's enough for you to buy fifty mansions and have extra left over to furnish them all." He blandly explained, smirking, this was spare change for him.
"The siren is yours. However, there's a list of rules for her, if you do not wish to end up drowned, I suggest you follow them." The greedy woman pocketed the coins and held out a scroll, which the prince took. He stashed it in his bag to read later, dismissing the old lady's warning. The woman snapped her fingers and three bulky men ran to store the siren into a shipment container, and it was obviously against her will. They tried grabbing her but she struggled away and swam towards the glass, banging on it as though trying to get to something, or someone. Tamaki followed her gaze and pointed at the baby hippocampus she was obviously trying to get to. "I'll also take that... distasteful thing." He declared. The old lady shrugged and merely nodded, and yet another man ran to grab the horse-like creature.
Now heading home with his purchases in glass tanks, he ordered the largest possible tank be installed in his secondary palace. In less than a few hours it was done, whatever the crown prince wished for he could have. He had her introduced to the tank, as well as the hippocampus. She was a fish, so it wasn't like he was buying a human, was it? Technically, it wasn't slavery, so he didn't do anything morally wrong. She might be half human, but the lady's scroll said that she couldn't talk. Except for one tiny small thing, she could sing a song, that would lead every man to their deaths.
