Chapter 5: Partitio & Elton
The egg was a gift from Papp. And admittedly, neither of them thought that it was an Eevee egg. The intention was to cook up something for dinner. Life in Oresrush had gotten rough in recent years, so any opportunity for food was a golden one.
It turned out to be some kinda luck when the Egg started to move on its own. Partitio and Papp could only watch as the Egg toppled over and broke to reveal an Eevee. While there was a lot of concern about how they would take care of the little guy in the Wildlands - especially with things being the way they were - Eevee was known for its adaptability.
While Elton didn't really have a grasp of what 'money' was, he knew it had to be important. He was too young to remember Oresrush in its prime, but Partitio's stories helped paint a pretty picture of what it must have been like. While Elton regretted that he couldn't have been there to see it himself, he also figured that Oresrush may have a chance of getting back on its feet at some point.
So Elton did his best to be helpful for Partitio and the others. Finding food in the Wildlands wasn't easy, but Elton's sharp nose clued him in on things that Partitio and the others couldn't pick up on. And any time they needed to find silver...well, he wasn't the best at helping in that regard as an Eevee.
It became a lot easier when he evolved into a Flareon.
That evolution actually didn't come as a shock in the slightest. With Partitio's talent for fire magic and his constant exposure to the lanterns that everyone carried, how could he evolve into anything else? Not that Elton minded; the light he provided really helped with finding treasures! His fire also got one of that fat man's lackeys running every single time, which was always a delight.
Speaking of Giff...there did come a day when Partitio finally rounded everyone up to take the town back from his grubby paws, and of course Elton tagged along. He had seen everyone suffer under that fat guy's thumb, and Elton hated just standing by the side and watching them take it. He knew for a fact that one of Giff's lackeys hated fire, so he just focused on that one while Partitio and Giff had a 'friendly talk'.
After the dust settled, most of what Partitio and Giff spoke of flew right over Elton's head. He remembered hearing the name 'Mr. Roque' a million times from Partitio's stories; it was clear this guy was something of a role model for him? But in a contrast to all those stories, Partitio seemed unsettled when hearing the name mentioned by Giff. Elton wondered why.
He didn't have much time to wonder, though; it didn't take very long for Partitio to decide that he was going to hit the road.
It went without saying that Elton was going to tag along. Not only did he want to see what the world beyond the Wildlands was like, he wanted to help Partitio beat up that devil called poverty! And he couldn't wait!
