"Hunter, Luz, despertarse. Start getting ready for school." Camila said.

Hunter groaned before getting up from bed. He was not in the mood of going to school, the bags under his eyes was a sign, but he knew he didn't have a choice. He put on his clothes, which were a black t-shirt, his yellow varsity jacket, which had a yellow letter 'H' on the left side, with white sleeves, gray jeans and white sneakers. He picked up his black backpack and went to the bathroom in the upstairs hall to freshen himself up. His hair was long and messy on the top but had an inch fade on the sides and back. He combed back his hair in a slick back style but left a long forelock on the front. He brushed his teeth, put on deodorant and left the bathroom.

"Oh good, you finished up before I got here." Luz said as Hunter walked out. She was wearing a short-sleeved half-white and half-indigo hooded shirt with cat ears attached to the hood, high-waisted jean shorts, dark gray capri leggings, and a pair of white loafers. Her hair was in a short pixie cut and had a pair of ebony earrings. "I gotta look good for my book report today." She said.

"Well, don't take too long. Mom doesn't want us to be late." He said as she entered the bathroom.

"I'll be quick, don't worry." Luz said as she turned on the sink. Hunter headed down and waited in the living room. He pulled out his smartphone and began surfing the internet in order to kill time. Camila entered the living room in her veterinarian uniform with her purse slung on her shoulder. "Ready?" She asked Hunter as he looked at her from his phone. "Where's Luz?" She asked.

"Aquí estoy." Luz said as she raced down the stairs with her blue backpack. "I'm ready mamá."

"Okay, let's head out to the car." Camila said as all three left the house and entered the light blue minivan.

"Bye Hunter, bye Luz." Camila said.

"Bye mamá." The two teens said, waving goodbye as Camila drove off to work. School wasn't scheduled to start until another 30 minutes, so both of them headed to the cafetera to eat breakfast. Soon, both of them were sitting down at a table and eating. "So, you're pretty excited about your book report today." Hunter said to her sister.

"Yeah, I'll be doing it on my Good Witch Azura book." Luz said excitedly.

'That explains it.' Hunter thought. "Don't you think you're a bit too old for those kinds of books?" He asked. "I stopped reading the Cosmic Frontier when I turned 12."

"Well, that's you but I'm me. It's still my favorite book series after all this time." Luz said. "Besides, my book report is going to stand out against all the others in class."

"Please don't do anything crazy." Hunter groaned. "I don't want to hear you getting in trouble again because of something stupid you did." He knew that his little sister had a habit of being eccentric, which sometimes landed her a visit to the principal's office. He remembered the time she auditioned in the school play, Romeo and Juliet, and used sausage links to recreate a disembowelment. Or the time she sowed the head and feet of a pigeon to the body of a squirrel, which probably raised a few red flags from people, and filled it with live spiders. Or the time where she flipped her eyelids inside out in front of a crowd of cheerleaders, which in his opinion wasn't worthy of getting sent to the office.

"Come on Hunter, I'm not going to do anything too crazy." Luz said, trying to reassure her brother.

"Knowing you, I have a right to be worried about the things you do." He replied.

"Don't worry, I'll tone down my report." She said, she finished her breakfast and hugged Hunter. "Anyways, see you at the end of school." She said as she walked to her class. Hunter finished his food and walked to his class before the bell could ring.

Later that day, Luz was walking towards her English I class. However, she decided to make a stop to the bathroom to make sure her book report was ready. She opened up her backpack, inside was a box, her Azura figurine, and a large firework rocket with two smaller fireworks tied to it. "Good, looks like I have everything. This is going to be amazing." She squealed in delight.

"Oh my God, did you see what Paulina was wearing today? Like, does that girl have any sense of fashion, what do you think, Carol?" A girl said as she entered the bathroom with two other girls.

"I think she's trying too hard to be different, Tiffany," Carol replied. "Which is lame, right Steph?" She said to the girl who was glued to her phone.

"Yeah, whatever." Stephanie responded in a monotone voice.

The three girls noticed Luz, who was shocked by their sudden appearance. "Well well well, if it isn't Luzer." Tiffany said with a smirk.

Luz was all too familiar to these girls, since they were her bullies. Tiffany and Stephanie were in their sophomore year while Carol was a freshman, like Luz, but she managed to get in the good graces of the two. They bullied and taunted many other freshman girls, but Tiffany focused most of her attention on Luz because of her quirky behavior. The two rarely see each other in school, but when they did, Tiffany would make those encounters count and today she was planning on doing that. "Whatcha doing here weirdo? It's been awhile since we last met." She said,

"Probably trying to do something weird like she always does, right Steph?" Carol said.

"Yeah sure." Stephanie responded in the same monotone voice, not averting her attention from her phone.

Luz hid her backpack behind her. "Why don't you mind your own business Tiffany." She said,

Tiffany noticed Luz's backpack. "Whatcha got in there?" She said as she stepped closer to Luz.

"Nothing." Luz said as she backed away. However, Tiffany shoved her to a wall, causing her to drop her backpack. Tiffany quickly picked it up before Luz could recompose herself. She unzipped it and saw the items inside.

"Well that's a whole lot of nothing." Tiffany said in a mocking tone. "Carol, catch." She said as she threw the backpack to her.

"Hey!" Luz said as she ran to Carol, who caught it.

"Here Steph." She said as she tossed it to Stephanie, who surprisingly managed to catch it with one hand without looking up from her phone.

"Stop it you guys." Luz said as she ran towards Stephanie, but she tossed it back to Tiffany.

"Thanks Steph." She said as she saw Luz in a worried state. An idea formed in her head. "Hey Luzer, catch." She tossed the backpack to the other side of the bathroom.

Luz ran as she tried to catch it but wasn't fast enough as it fell to the floor, spilling everything in it outside. The box opened up and, to the shock of Carol and Tiffany, revealed that it had live snakes inside. The snakes slithered out and began to hiss at the girls. "Uh oh..." Luz said in concern.

Stephanie looked up from her phone and saw the snakes, but her mood was still stoic. "Those are snakes." She said in monotone, before going back to her phone.

The three girls screamed as they ran out, with the snakes following them.

"Oh no." Luz said in worry as she ran out trying to catch them.

A couple minutes earlier, Hunter was in the boy's locker room changing over from P.E. class. He was soon joined by another student. "What's up, elf ears." He chuckled.

Hunter sighed. "What do you want, Nathan? Came to ask how to mind one's business?" Nathan and Hunter had a bit of history with each other. Ever since the beginning of the sophomore year, the two had a rivalry that slowly turned bitter over time, especially once Hunter joined the volleyball team. Nathan would often taunt him about his strange ears or loner behavior, though sometimes he would bring up Luz for a cheap jab. One time during a practice game, Nathan delivered a hard spike towards Hunter, which hit him in the face so hard it knocked out a front tooth. Nathan would claim it was an accident, though Hunter suspects otherwise. Despite this, the two never fought each other, all of their confrontations would be dealt in words.

"Nah, I don't want to take your place as the school loner. You do that job pretty good I might say." Nathan mocked.

"Ha ha. Ha ha, that's so funny I forgot how to laugh." Hunter said sarcastically. "What do you even want by the way?" He asked.

"Oh, I stopped by to say that my girlfriend and I are having a date this weekend." Nathan said with a smirk.

"Wow, congrats. With all the time you spend on volleyball, it's a miracle you remembered having a girlfriend." Hunter fired back, causing Nathan to give him a scowl.

"Laugh it up loner, at least I have a girlfriend, unlike you. You always put up this act of being alone. I won't be surprised if your weird sister ends up with a date before you." Nathan said.

"Watch it, Nate." Hunter said sternly as he got his stuff and closed his locker.

"What? She might be weird but at least she talks to people, I was just telling the truth." Nathan chuckled.

Their verbal spat was interrupted as both teens heard screams from the hallway, with Nathan recognizing one of the voices.

"Oh damn, baby girl are you alright?!" He said as he ran out of the locker room.

Hunter followed him and was shocked at what he saw. In the hallway a group of snakes were slithering around on the floor, hissing at the students. He looked over at Nathan, where he was next to Tiffany with a snake resting around her shoulders.

"Ew ew ew ew, get it off of me! Get it off babe!" She panicked as Nathan was hesitant in grabbing it.

"Uh, I-I-I got it." He said, afraid of grabbing the snake without it biting him. It hissed, which caused Nathan to recoil back in fear. Tiffany shrieked before running off with him trying to catch up to her. Hunter looked around and saw Luz putting her backpack on and ran towards her.

"What did you do?!" He yelled, shocking Luz with his sudden appearance.

"I-I didn't do anything. Tiffany and her friends grabbed my backpack and threw it to the floor and my stuff for my book report spilled out." Luz said in fear.

"Why did you bring snakes?! Why did it have to be snakes?!" Hunter yelled.

"To represent the battle between Azura and the gildersnake." She replied.

"YOU!"

Both of them turned around and saw an angry Nathan approaching them. He marched towards Luz, his current state putting fear into Luz. "Why did you attack my girlfriend!" He yelled.

"W-w-wait what? She started it." Luz tried to defend herself.

"Don't lie! She told me you released those snakes to scare her, you freak!" He yelled.

"Hey, back off!" Hunter pushed Nathan away.

"Of course you would defend her, you're just as weird as her, elf ears!" Nathan said as a crowd of students began to surround the three of them.

"Piss off Nate, my sister didn't release those snakes. Your girlfriend did!" Hunter said.

"Well whose bag did it come from! You're freaky sister is the only one who would do something like that!" Nate fired back.

The crowd began to murmur as the two teenage boys continued their spat. Luz stepped aside, not wanting to get caught if something ugly happened.

"Maybe if your girlfriend minded her own business, this wouldn't have happened. And if you hung around with her some more, she wouldn't be so desperate for attention!" Hunter said as he left out all his frustrations towards Nathan. The bully tightened his fists as Hunter continued. "Maybe she should dress up like a volleyball so you can pay attention and actually give a fu-"

He was interrupted by Nathan as he punched him several times, having enough of his tirade.

"I'm going to knock another tooth outta you, maybe I'll knock out all of them so you can shut up!" Nathan said as he continued, but Hunter began to fight back. The crowd began to chant 'fight' as the two duked it out. Luz stood in horror as her brother fought with his fellow volleyball team member. Nathan delivered a stiff punch to the cheek, causing Hunter to stumble to the ground.

"Had enough?!" He said as Hunter got to his knees.

"Not yet, cabrón!" Hunter yelled as he lunged towards Nathan, catching him by surprise. He pinned him against the lockers using his left elbow as he delivered swift punches to his gut with his right hand. He backed away as Nate fell to the floor and rolled on his back. Hunter quickly got on top of him and continued to punch him in the face.

The crowd fell silent as they watched Hunter beat Nate, drawing blood. Luz quickly ran to her brother. "Hunter stop, that's enough!" She said as she grabbed his arm, causing him to stop. Luz backed away as Hunter stood up and watched the badly beaten Nathan groan in pain. His nose was broken and bloody, his right cheek was swollen and his right eye was closed. He coughed up a mixture of spit and blood as he caught his breath.

As Hunter stood over him, he felt a series of emotions flood him. Anger, pride, happiness and regret hit him at once. Even though he wasn't the senseless violent type, he couldn't help but feel cathartic for what he did to Nathan.

Soon, teachers and school security arrived at the scene, shocked at what they saw. The teachers ordered everyone to head into their next scheduled class as security escorted Hunter and Luz to the principal's office. Some security guards took Nathan to the nurse's office. Both the Noceda kids knew that they were in for it now, but none would expect the events that would transpire the next day.

Well that's the end of the prologue, hope you enjoyed what I have so far. Now to work on the main story. It's take awhile so please be patient.
