Hello there, I come back bringing a new chapter. Continuing off the previous chapter, we got the gang ready to break into the Conformatorium to get King's crown. Along with that, Hunter discovers something new about himself.
Hope you guys enjoy.
Luz, Hunter, Eda and King were just outside a large prison facility. Thunder boomed from the cloudy sky, which gave the area a more menacing appearance. "Ah, the Conformatorium. A place for those considered unsuitable for society." The two teens, with King on top of Luz's head, peeked from behind a wall. Hunter noticed a wanted poster of Eda on it. He took it off the wall and looked at the reward money on the bottom.
"That's a high reward. What did you even do to earn a bounty like this on you?" He asked Eda.
"Well for starters, King and I are very difficult to catch because we're too slippery." Eda said.
"Try to catch me when I'm covered in grease. I'm a slippery fella. Nyeh." King said as he jumped off of Luz's head. "You, your brother, and I will sneak up to the top of the tower where they're holding my crown." He said as he pointed to the top area of the tower behind him.
"And I'm going to make sure the Warden stays distracted." Eda said.
"Ooh, will I need a disguise." Luz asked joyfully.
"Uh." Eda said, trying to answer her question before Luz continued.
"I've been waiting to use this." She said as she put on her cat hoodie and used her fingers to flick up the ears attached to it. "Meow meow."
"...It's hideous." King said while the rest of the group stared at Luz, with Hunter facepalming at her sister's antics.
"You'll fit right in." Eda said as she twirled her staff above her head before striking the bottom of it to the ground. A large magic circle appeared beneath the two teens and King.
"Is it too late to back out of this?" Hunter asked nervously.
"Yup. Good luck." Eda said as the circle levitated its three occupants to the top of the tower. Eda then activated her staff to fly her inside the Conformatorium. "Meet you guys at the top of the tower." She said as she flew by the group. The magic platform reached an open window at the top section of the tower. It disappeared, but fortunately all three managed to grab onto the window frame and quickly climb inside. King landed on his feet while Luz and Hunter tumbled onto the floor. "Ha ha, cats don't do that." King mocked Luz.
"Pinché bruja loca." Hunter muttered as the two teens got on their feet. The two walked into a giant area where it held a large amount of prison cells. They both stood in wonder at the immense size of the room.
"Hey blondie, cat lady. How did both of you get out of your cells." A female voice called out. All three turned and looked at a cell that held a witch with dark skin, and black hair in a ponytail style. She wore an indigo-colored dress which covered her upper arms, but revealed her shoulders and her lower forearms. She had a gold band around her neck and sported black high-heeled boots that reached her knee.
"Oh I'm not a cat lady, or a criminal." Luz said as she took off her hoodie.
"Not yet you aren't." King said.
"Who are you?" Hunter asked the prisoner.
"I'm Katya," she introduced herself. "and the only reason why the Warden put me in here is because I write fanfiction about foods loving each other." Katya said as she pulled out and opened her fanfic book, showing a writing snippet on the left page and a picture of two vegetables kissing each other on the right. "I like romance, I like food, I like writing about foods having a romance. Just let me write!" She said in frustration.
"I don't know, I think this Warden guy might be right in this case." Hunter said, causing Katya to give him a stink eye.
"Hunter, don't be rude." Luz said to him before turning her attention to the next inmate on the left side of Katya's cell. "What about you?"
"I'm here because I like to eat my own eyeballs." A light gray ogre monster with 6 eyes on his head said. He took out one of them and proceeded to swallow it whole, but the eye reappeared in his empty eye socket. Hunter grimaced in disgust at what he did. However, he noticed more inmates left of the monster's cell. "What about those guys." He said.
"Name's Murphy," A large humanoid spider said. "And I like to play jazz. I would show you, but the Warden took it away."
"I'm Little Joe and I like to play the trombone." A small male witch said.
"I'm Bugsy." Another male witch said. "I'm here because the Warden didn't like me having bugs as pets." He said as he petted a small fly on his shoulder.
"Yo, the name's Henry." The last male inmate said. "I'm here cause the power is putting me down." He said.
"No, it's because a coven guard caught you shoplifting at the market, Shifty Henry." Bugsy said.
"Hey, it's not my fault that the storekeeper didn't appreciate our deal." Henry retorted.
"What deal? You tried to steal his stuff right in front of him." Bugsy fired back.
"We are agents of fwee expwession! They will never siwence us!" A squeaky female voice yelled out, catching the attention of the three. They looked and saw a small round white demon creature with large blue eyes, a gigantic nose, and long red hair. She lacked an actual body and was just a large head with arms and legs.
"Yeah, she's really big into conspiracy theories. I call her Tiny Nose" Katya said.
"The world is a simulation! We are but playthings for a higher being!" Tiny Nose said in a panicked state as she grabbed her cell bars.
Luz began to ponder. "Wait, fanfiction, eyeball eating, jazz, trombone, pet bugs. You guys aren't criminals, aside from that Henry guy,-"
"Hey!" Henry said, interrupting Luz's speech.
"-you all weirdos, like me." She finished.
Suddenly, a pair of loud footsteps caught everyone's attention. They noticed that it was coming closer to the room they were in. "It's Warden Wrath! Hide!" Katya warned the three intruders. The group quickly looked for a place to hide. They saw an empty cell nearby and ran to it, pulling the cell door down when they got in. The footsteps got closer then stopped at the room's door. It was pushed open as Warden Wrath entered.
"I can hear you." Warden Wrath said in a dark raspy voice.
He entered the room, his stomping footsteps striking fear into everyone. "Just what are you fools whispering about?" He said as he looked at his prisoners. He turned his head down and saw Eda's wanted poster that Hunter had dropped. "Ah. The Owl Lady." He picks it up and crumples it, turning his fist into a hammer and slamming it into the door of the group's cell, denting it. "I'll get my hands on her soon enough." Warden Wrath then looked inside at the cell, noticing Luz, Hunter, and King. "Weird, I don't remember putting you three here." He said. Luz whimpered as King hid behind her, with Hunter getting in front of them with a clenched fist.
"Fight against the oppwessor! We will wesist! We will conquer! We will never be afwaid of you, you old cweep!" Tiny Nose yelled out, catching the warden's attention. He walked over to her cell and pushed the lever up, opening her cell door. "Hooway, I'm fwee." She said before Warden Wrath grabbed her entire body in his hand. He then held her up to the other prisoners so they could see.
"Let this be a lesson to all of you. There's no place in society for you if you can't fit in." He said as he tightened his grip, causing Tiny Nose to squeak. He walked out of the room and slammed the door shut. Luz quickly opened the cell door and ran towards Katya's cell.
"Don't worry. I can get you out." She said. she tried to push the lever up, but unfortunately, it didn't move. "No! My weak nerd arms! Hunter, help me!" she said.
"Luz we need to go! We're here to get King's crown back!" He said.
"But we can't leave them here!" she said.
"Just get out of here while you still can, kid. Enjoy freedom for us." Katya said somberly as she retreated further in her cell. Luz stood there, saddened by seeing her accept her unjust punishment.
"Luz, we need to go!" Hunter said as he grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the room's door. All three left and began to walk the halls in the tower, trying to find King's crown. Hunter put an arm around Luz, trying to comfort her after she failed to free the other prisoners. Eda soon joined them as she flew in and jumped from her staff by their side.
"Hey, I just checked. The warden is distracted, tormenting some tiny creature. He won't be coming around here anytime soon." She said, but noticed Luz's sad face. "Hey kid, what's wrong?"
"It's not fair that they're all in here. They just want to be themselves. Why does everyone think that being a weirdo is so bad?" Luz said.
"I don't know sis. Maybe some people don't like others who act differently, but that's their view and not ours." Hunter said, trying to cheer her up. "Anyways lady, do you know where the crown is at?" He asked.
"It's just up ahead of this hallway." Eda said. All five continued to walk, reaching a towering door reading "CONTRABAND".
"My crown! It's close! I can sense its power!" King said excitedly as he ran up to the door and fiddled with the doorknob.
"Aw, he gets so cute when he's thirsty for power." Eda said. King managed to break off the doorknob and opened the door. He laughed as he ran inside the room. "Come on, before he hurts himself." she said before the group heard a zap, followed by King's yelp of pain. They went inside, the room was empty besides a giant glowing pillar in the center. King rubbed his skull before charging at the pillar, succeeding only in launching himself backwards as the pillar repelled him.
"We have a human, remember?" Eda said.
"Oh yeah." King said.
"Two. You have two humans with you." Hunter said.
"Sorry to remind you, kid. But you're a witch like me." Eda said, which only agitated the blonde teen.
"No, I'm a human like my sister! I was born on Earth!" He looked at the glowing pillar, remembering Eda's word about it only allowing humans to enter. "Look, I'll prove it!" He said as he ran towards it.
"Kid, wait!" Eda yelled, but Hunter continued. He got to the pillar but got zapped away by the magic barrier, knocking him to the ground.
"W-what?" He said as he got up and walked up to the barrier. He hesitantly put his hand up to it and got shocked. He pulled his hand back and stared at it. He couldn't believe it, there was no way Eda was right. He grew up on Earth, he was a human. So why was the barrier, which only allowed humans, keeping him out. Luz saw the whole thing in shock, he looked at her brother, who was confused at what just happened. She began to walk towards the barrier. "M-maybe you we're wrong Eda. The magic barrier could also keep out humans, you probably just didn't know…" She said as she approached the barrier with her eyes closed…
…and walked through it.
"But we'll find another way through it." She said, not noticing what she just did. She opened her eyes and was surprised that she was actually in. Hunter gave her a shocked look as he saw her on the other side. His mouth was agape, trying to process what was happening. Eda smiled.
"Well done, now grab King's crown before the warden arrives." She said as she walked up to Hunter. She placed a hand on her shoulder, causing him to jump as he looked at her. "Told ya you're a witch like me." She said, giving him a smile. Though it didn't ease up Hunter's mood as he looked at her confused and worried. Meanwhile, Luz was looking around in the junk pile, trying to find the crown. She looked up and saw a crown's silhouette at the top of the pile. She squinted her eyes, trying to get a better look at it. "Wait, is that a…"
Moments later, Luz walked out holding a Burger Queen paper crown in her hand, much to her and her brother's confusion.
"Yes! My crown!" King said as he quickly put it on and stood triumphant. "Yes. Yes! I can feel my powers returning!" King hadn't changed or gained any new powers from the crown. "You, there. Nightmare critter." He said as he pointed to a stuffed rabbit that was missing a button eye. "I shall call you Francois, and you shall be a minion in my army of darkness. Ha-ha!" He picked up the rabbit and held it close.
"That crown doesn't give him any powers, does it?" Luz asked Eda in disappointment.
"Uh, no." Eda admitted.
"So you mean to tell me we risked our lives in order to get a paper crown with no magical elements whatsoever?!" Hunter angrily asked.
"You say that like it wasn't worth it." Eda said nonchalantly. Both teens glared at her angrily. "Oh, look at us, you two. King and I don't have much in this world. We only have each other. So if that dumb crown is important to him, it's important to me. And besides, us weirdos have to stick together, you know?" Eda said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Eres una bruja loca y estupida." Hunter grunted.
"Thank you." Eda said, not understanding what he said. "Well, we owe you kids one. Now, let's get out of here before the warden finds us and loses his head." She said, unaware that Warden Wrath, along with two coven guards, had snuck up behind her.
"Too Late." He said as he transformed his hand into an ax blade and swiftly decapitated her. Eda's head flew off her body and towards Luz, who caught it and let out a scream at what just happened. Hunter looked at the head in shock. Her face was crossed eyed and her tongue stuck out of her mouth, she looked dead.
"Ow! Oh, I hate it when that happens." Eda's head said, shocking the two teens and causing them to scream louder.
"Eda! Are you okay?" Luz asked in worry.
"How are you still alive?!" Hunter yelled in confusion.
"Yeah. This just happens when you get older." Eda said as if what happened was an everyday occurrence.
"Does it?" Luz asked while Hunter stood shocked.
Meanwhile, Warden Wrath transformed his hand back to normal. "Finally, I have you cornered, Eda the Owl Lady." He said as he walked to the two teens holding Eda's head. As he did, he took King's crown off his head. King reached his arms up and jumped up and down in order to get it back, with no avail. "My guards could never get you, but I knew if I took your pet's toy, you'd come running." He said as he crushed the paper crown in his hand.
"No! My power!" King yelled in distraught.
Luz stood in fear while Hunter clenched his fists, ready to fight. "What do you want with me? I've never actually broken any of your stupid laws... in front of you." Eda said.
Warden Wrath knelt in front of the group. "I want you…" He then pulled out a bouquet of flowers. "to go out with me." He said, his voice slightly calmer.
This surprised the three. "Wha?" Eda said, confused. "What?" Luz said in disgust. "What?!" Hunter said in anger.
The two coven guards cheered Warden Wrath on. "Go, boss!" one whooped while the other gave a thumbs up. Warden Wrath gave the two a thumbs up before turning his attention to Eda. "You've always eluded our capture. You've always been the one who got away." He explained the reason for his affection. "I found that alluring." He said in a flirty tone.
"I hate everything you're saying right now." Luz said, still disgusted. "I hate everything that is happening right now." Hunter said, annoyed.
"You two stay out of this!" Warden Wrath yelled. He threw away the flowers as he transformed his hand into tentacles and grabbed the two teens, holding them above the ground. He then held up Eda's head by her hair. "So how about it, Owl Lady? The most powerful witch of the Boiling Isles and the feared Warden Wrath. We'd be the strongest power couple ever. I mean, it's—it's not like you can say no right now." He said.
Eda looks up at Luz and Hunter, the two struggling to free themselves from the warden's grasp. She looks to King, who got picked up by one of the guards and was struggling to free himself. She knew that he was right, she couldn't say no and risk the teens and King getting hurt. She sighed. "All right, Warden. You win. I'd just like to say something first. Come closer." The warden held her head closer to his face. " No. Just come a little bit closer." He held it even closer to him. "Just... Yeah, that's good." Eda said before blowing a raspberry at him, sending spit to his face. The warden yelled as he dropped her head and the two teens in order to wipe his mask off. Eda began to laugh at his misfortune.
"Impudent wench! Don't you know how many germs are in your mouth? Blegh!" Warden Wrath said in disgust.
"Get over it. You had your guards stalk me, and then you cut off my head. I am not going out with you." Eda said, angering him.
"If you don't accept, then I have no choice but to des—Oh!" He was interrupted as Hunter grabbed Eda's staff and swiftly hit him on the head, knocking him out.
"That's from me to you, creep!" Hunter said.
Eda chuckled, impressed that Hunter managed to one up the warden. "Nice one kid!" she cheered. The two guards surround her head, but Eda's body walks up behind them, grabs both of their heads and smashes them together, knocking out the two guards.
"Okay, we're leaving now." Luz said as she grabbed King and Eda's head, with her body following closely behind. Hunter mounted the staff as he signaled the rest to get on. All of them got on it and were waiting to fly away, but Hunter was having trouble activating the staff.
"How do you work this thing?!" He said.
"Expecto... flying? Magicus... escapicus!" Luz said, hoping that she had said the right command. Eda looked and saw that the warden was beginning to regain consciousness. Knowing they had little time, Eda took command. "Gun it, magic stick!" She yelled. The owl spread its wings and hooted before the staff began to fly away with its passengers. Luz and Hunter screamed as they flew through the hallway, gripping the staff tightly. However, they heard loud thuds behind them and were shocked when they turned around and saw Warden Wrath, who was using his tentacle arms, chasing them.
"Owl Lady, I won't let you get away again!" Warden Wrath yelled.
The group were flying past the prison cells the two teens and King entered earlier. Luz noticed they were flying towards Katya's and the others' cells. She quickly thought of a plan to get them out. "Hunter, put your hand up!" She said. Hunter did that and Luz put her hand behind his. "Eda, put your hand behind mine!" She said. Eda quickly did that as they approached the cells. They open the cells of the prisoners Luz, Hunter and King had talked to earlier, they looked on as they saw the group fly away with the Warden chasing them.
They burst through an outer door high in the center of the Conformatorium with a yell from Luz and Hunter, knocking off two guards by it. Warden Wrath exits right behind them, front flipping off the pillar. The staff and Warden Wrath fall toward the ground. Warden Wrath extends one of his tentacles, hitting the very back of the staff and launching the group off of it. They roll when they hit the ground, and Warden Wrath steps in front of them, his hand shifting into an ax blade again. King groaned in pain as Eda reattached her head to her body. She quickly ran towards the two teens on the ground. "Luz, Hunter, go back to the human world." She said as she handed Luz her portal key before running towards Warden Wrath.
"What about you guys?" Luz asked.
"If you think this guy is bad, you shoulda seen her last boyfriend!" King said as he joined Eda in fighting the warden.
"Not my boyfriend." Eda said as she grabbed him and dodged an attack.
"Come on Luz, let's go back home." Hunter said as he grabbed Eda's staff and got on it. He noticed Luz standing and watching the fight. "¡Luz vámonos!" He yelled out. Eda turned and noticed Luz and Hunter. She quickly ran, grabbed Luz, and put her on the staff in front of him. "Go! Go!" She yelled.
"B-b-but- I-" Luz tried to speak, but Eda slapped the bottom of the staff, causing it to fly into the air. Eda turned her attention to Warden Wrath, who took off his mask, revealing a large fanged mouth that took up most of his face with a pair of small eyes. The warden breathed fire at Eda but she drew two spell circles, sending the fire back to him. The warden was struck and slammed into the wall of the Conformatorium, knocking a hole in it. He got up, brandished his blade-hands and ran at Eda. The two teens looked at the fight below them, with Hunter impressed at Eda's fighting abilities.
"Thank God I didn't pick a fight with her earlier at the house." He said. However Luz saw the prisoners from earlier hiding behind the hole in the wall. Luz took command of the staff as she flew down towards them, surprising Hunter. "Luz, what are you doing?!" They landed nearby and she got off the staff.
"Why are you guys just standing there? This is your chance to escape!" She said, trying to motivate them to run to freedom.
"The warden'll catch us. He always does." The eye eating monster said in a sadden tone.
"We belong here." Katya said depressingly.
"Self-doubt is a pwison you can never escape fwom." Tiny Nose said somberly.
"Sorry kid, but when you've been imprisoned so many times, it kinda demoralizes you from escaping." Murphy said, explaining the prisoners' defeated attitudes.
"Yeah, what he said." Little Joe added.
"Yep." Bugsy said.
"I'm still here because I like seeing the warden getting his ass kicked." Shifty Henry said.
"So, that doesn't mean you should give up. You must always fight for yourselves no matter what." Luz said. "You guys might be weird but you could be awesome too."
"Why are you helping us?" Katya asked.
"Because us weirdos have to stick together. And nobody should be punished for who they are." She said as she mounted the staff. "Come on Hunter, Let's get him." She said as they flew towards the warden.
"This is the craziest thing you've done, sis!" Hunter said as he gripped the staff tightly. The prisoners stood there and watched. Shifty Henry was the first to speak.
"Well I think it's time to take my leave." He said, but Bugsy stopped him.
"We're going to help them." He said.
Shifty Henry looked at him in shock. "For Titan's sake Bugsy. No one's lookin', now's the chance to make a break." He said.
Bugsy turned to Shifty Henry. "Well I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks at the warden. Everyone, follow me." He said as the group followed him inside the Conformatorium.
The two teens flew above the warden. Once they got close, Luz delivered a swift kick to the back of his head. Warden Wrath clutched his head and looked above, seeing the two teens flying overhead. "Well ain't that a kick to the head, right ugly?!" Luz taunted. The warden focused his attention to the two as he shot out another fire breath at them. The pair quickly dodged it as they flew around, evading his fire attacks. Luz continued her taunts at him. "Is that the best you can do?! No wonder you miss your shots at Eda!"
"Can you please not antagonize him further?!" Hunter yelled at her sister as they continued to dodge the warden's attacks. Finally having enough, Warden Wrath morphed his hand into tentacles and quickly shot it at the two. This time he managed to catch them and threw them to the ground. Luz and Hunter landed in front of Eda and King. The warden approached them, transforming both his arms into tentacles.
"No more running away, Owl Lady. Today I capture you once and for all!" He said as he prepared to grab them.
"Go, go, go, go!" Bugsy yelled as he and the rest of the prisoners charged at Warden Wrath with their gear. He turned around and was caught off guard as a swarm of flies and bugs, commanded by Bugsy, flew to his face. The warden yelled as he tried to swat them away, However, Shifty Henry used the opportunity to sneak behind him with a wooden chair. "Hey, buddy, don't you be no square. Have a wooden chair." He said as he hit him in the back with it. He stumbled forward, where Little Joe was waiting. "Have a taste of my slide trombone!" He said as he blew it in front of his face. Warden Wrath covered his head as he yelled at the sudden loud noise. Murphy quickly got on the warden's shoulders and played freeform jazz on his saxophone, further disorienting him. He jumped off as the warden was shoved by the Eye Eating Monster.
"I eat my own eyes!" He said. Tiny Nose tripped the warden on his back.
"I think the world as a twiangle!" She said. Katya quickly jumped on the warden, holding him down.
"And I practice the ancient art of fanfiction!" She said as the rest of the prisoner group joined in and tied his tentacle arms together. They flipped him on his stomach, where he saw Luz and Hunter approach him, with the former holding the staff.
"You two! Who do you think you are?!" He said angrily.
"Do not underestimate me, Warden Wrath," Luz said as she pointed the staff at him. "for I am Luz, the human, warrior of peace. Here with my brave brother and knight, Hunter." She said dramatically. "Now eat this, sucka!" She said as she pulled out her firework bundle from her book report from her messenger bag. She tossed it in the air and hit it with the staff, sending it straight to Warden Wrath's mouth. The bundle ignited and the fireworks shot into the air, creating a festive show. The warden got up and ran back to the Conformatorium defeated. The prisoner group celebrated their victory.
"We are victorious!" Tiny Nose said as she jumped up and down.
"I can't believe it. We actually won." Hunter said as he began to laugh. "Yeah!"
Eda and King walked up to the two teens. "That was actually one of her better breakups." King said.
"Not a breakup." Eda said as she grabbed her staff and got on it. "Anyway, let's bounce before any more monsters fall in love with me." The group got on to the staff and flew away to the Owl House. They settled down inside the living room.
"Well, a deal's a deal. Let's get you two home." She said as she snapped her fingers. The portal key flew from Luz's bag and into her hand. She presses the eye, and the portal door unfolds itself in front of the fireplace. Luz and Hunter walk up to it, and turn back to look at Eda and King. King looks at the ground, visibly sad. Luz reaches into her bag and pulls out her Azura doll.
"Before I go…" She took off the crown on her and held it in her hand. "I know it's not the same, but a king shouldn't be without a crown." She said.
King accepts the crown and places it on his head. "This shall suffice. You there, plant! You are now under my command." He said as he walked away.
"Oh, and don't forget this." Eda said as she gave Luz her Azura book, along with the summer camp pamphlet, from the coffee table.
"Welp, I guess that's it then. If you don't mind me, I'm going back, get some sleep, and treat this whole experience as a surreal fever dream as I spend my summer at camp." Hunter said as he walked to the portal. "Come on Luz. The sooner we get out of here, the better." He turned around and saw his sister stare at the pamphlet before putting it under her Azura book. She looks at the door and her brother. She looks down at her book, then up at a mirror above the fireplace, causing her to gasp. She holds it up, on the cover is Azura in front, with an older witch looking at a dog/cat creature along with a knight in gold armor in the background. She lowers the book to reveal the mirror showing a very similar image, King and Eda in the same positions as the creature and the older witch, and herself in the foreground between them. The only thing missing was the knight, but she guessed Hunter could fill the role. "Luz, are you okay?" Hunter asked. She smiles and turns around.
"Okay. I know you got your head cut off, and we started some kind of prison riot, but this was the most fun I've ever had." She said.
"Luz, where are you going with this?" Hunter asked in concern.
"I am an outcast at home. You're an outcast here. If I stay, we could be outcasts together." She looks at the Reality Check pamphlet one last time before crumpling it. "I'm not going back to summer camp." Hunter gasped at her sister's statement.
Eda began to chuckle. "What's summer camp? What are we talking about here?" She asked in confusion.
"I want to stay and become a witch. Like you and Azura." She said as she held up her book.
"No Luz, we are not staying here. This place is dangerous." Hunter tried to reason with her. "We're going back home to camp."
Eda began to laugh. "What? All right, that's crazy. Humans can't become witches." She said.
"Maybe that's because they haven't tried." Luz reasoned. "If you teach me to become a witch, I'll do anything you want." She said.
"Let her stay." King said to Eda. "She can make us snacks." He whispered to her.
Eda picked him up. "Well, I could use a hand keeping this goofball out of the cupboards. All right. I'll teach you how to be a witch. But you have to work for me before you learn any spells." She held out her hand. "Deal?" Luz smiled before tightly hugging the two, surprising them. "Gah! What's going on?"
"Too Tight! Too Tight!" King said.
Hunter looked on before sighing in defeat. "Well I guess I'm staying too. I can't leave Luz here and face whatever adventure she wants alone." He said.
"Aw, gracias hermano." Luz said as she hugged Hunter.
That night, the Noceda siblings, now wearing pajamas, were in their own room in the Owl House. Both unroll sleeping bags and throw themselves on it. Luz turned over and took a picture of her, Hunter, and Camila out of her messenger bag. She placed the frame right next to her pillow. Both of their phones vibrate, they grab and turn them on. It was a message from their mom that read: "How's summer camp?" Luz's expression falls a little and she moves her phone away from her face. Hunter looked concerned as he looked away from the phone and to Luz.
"Are you sure this was a good idea, Luz?" Hunter asked.
"Well it was either this or summer camp. Plus let's be real, you did want to go either." Luz said.
"That doesn't mean I'd rather stay here. The reason why I stayed was because you're here, someone needs to keep an eye on you." He retorted.
Their conversation was interrupted when King stepped inside the room, holding Francois. "Your sleep cocoon looks fluffy." He said in a tired voice
Luz sits up and pats the sleeping bag, inviting him. King curls up at the bottom below her feet and falls asleep. Luz smiles at him before replying to her mom: "I think I'm gonna like it here". Smiling, she puts her phone down, turns to the side, and falls asleep. Hunter looked at the two before turning back to the message on his phone, replying to his mom: "It's different from home, but I could get used to it." He put it down and laid on his sleeping bag. His mind pondered on the events that happened today, especially what happened at the barrier in the tower. There was no way he was a witch, it didn't make sense. He was born and raised on Earth, he didn't know any magic whatsoever, much less interested in it. He had to be human. Hunter slowly drifted off to sleep, a part of him hoping he would wake up home and sum the whole day as a very weird dream.
Well that's the end of this chapter. I hope to be back soon with a new chapter, but I'm busy getting ready for other things right now. Though I'm am excited that I'm making progress with this story.
And yes, I did make a reference to Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock song.
Remember to leave a review on what you guys think so far.
