The Non-Secular Club reconsiders Hyoga's presence, but Alicia demands they give him a chance. They allow this since they need members, so they restart by reading the first chapter of the Bible: Genesis.
The weather for April 20 is a mix of sunny and cloudy.
Once all members gather, Hyoga asks a simple question.
Hyoga - Is there a name for this club? I didn't see one when I came here.
Club leader - We randomly got together, so it didn't occur to us.
When he first came, four students were present: Alicia, a boy and a girl in Alicia's class, and the male club leader. With Hyoga, that makes it five. The male club leader is a second-year student.
Alicia - We read the Bible, so why not "Non-Secular?"
Club leader - I agree. Saying "Bible Club" would be really weird.
Skeptical member - Before we start, I still have doubts about him being here. Not because of the rumors, but calling him by his Japanese name when it doesn't match his looks. And claims to be half-Japanese too.
Another member - Yeah, but Alicia-san doesn't have a Japanese name and is from overseas.
Alicia - True, but I've been here since middle school because of my parent's job. We should give him a chance, as our leader said.
Club leader - Let's begin without further ado. With him present, we can restart the first chapter of the Bible. Let's start with Genesis.
The club leader reads Chapter 1 of Genesis out loud. After that, the club leader reads the first paragraph of Genesis Chapter 2, which ends with God resting on the seventh day.
Club leader - And there we have it. The seven days of creation by God. What do you guys think?
Another member - I like how this whole chapter is a metaphor.
Club leader - Exactly! The 7 days of the week most likely came from here.
Skeptical member - There's a lot of repetition here...
Alicia - Indeed, there are. Even the opening alone shows repetition.
Hyoga - That's because they reflect binary opposing forces. Day and night, heaven and earth, and of course, man and woman.
Club leader - Yep, this will be a recurring theme in these early chapters. With that said, we'll explore Adam and Eve in our next meeting.
The meeting then ends for the day.
There is no version of the Bible used here since there are so many kinds. This story treats the Bible as part historical, part fiction book.
