The first Hogsmeade Weekend was a perfect weather type of day. She decides to sit outside by the lake while she contemplated the dust month so far of school.

She made an effort to communicate more with those around her. The Slytherins for the most part so wanted to know her blood status. But it wasn't as aggressive a push to know. She knew it was probably because of Samuel they had chilled out. Daphne Greengrass had started sitting with her in Potions and Transfiguration.

She wasn't into all the fashion talk she and Pansy did but when Daphne asked to play with her hair, she couldn't find it in her to say no. At least 3 days out of the week now, Daphne woke up ready to do something with her hair before going to breakfast.

Neville continued to sit with her in Charms and was her partner in Herbology. She hadn't realized how much knowledge he had on the plants he worked with.

Samuel still wasn't a big talker but he sat with her in History, Astronomy and DADA and Herbology when they were paired in 3s. He sat behind her in Transfiguration and Potions like a shadow waiting to strike as Ron Weasley continued to make it clear he didn't like them.

His twin brothers though... they greeted her often in passing. Ravenclaws, she knew they were geniuses were their pranks. Honestly she liked the personality differences in the family of red heads. Percy Weasley was the oldest and was a Slytherin Prefect. The Twins were Ravenclaws in their 4th year, and outside their pranks, were on the Quidditch teams as beaters. Ron of course was a Gryffindor and the latest edition this year was a girl named Ginny who joined her angry brother with the lions. She learned later there were 2 more brothers to the siblings. William had been a Slytherin, and Charlie had been a Gryffindor who now worked with dragons in Romania. William was a curse breaker. That gave her something to look up, still learning the careers available in the magical world they lived in.

"Do you sit alone because your house still gives you a hard time about your blood status," her musing was interrupted by Neville standing beside her with a basket in hand. He sits down and hands her a sandwich.

"Kind of. They've been nicer this year and I'm friends I think, with Daphne Greengrass. And the princes have always been nice though Draco can be a bit of a snob most days. I think I'm just used to being alone for the most part, even before I started Hogwarts," she thinks over her answer.

She looks across the lake as the sun's reflection sparked against the water.

"Is it hard living in a foster home? I'm... I'm sorry, you funny have to answer that. That was pretty invasive..."

"It's okay. You're the first to ask. It was hard. The Grangers were the longest family of been with. There was always 6 of us on average in their home. They didn't react well to my bouts of Magic...

Technically, I don't have a last name in the muggle world, did you know? It's weird people here calling me Granger. I'm changing that as soon as I'm of age." She decides.

"Have you ever thought about looking for your real family?" He stares at her curiously. She keeps focused on the water.

"I have...I don't remember much of when I was first found but I think my parents are gone. I feel it in my heart that they are no longer amongst the living...I don't know how I would feel if I did some extended family. What is they don't want me around?" She wipes away the tear falls.

"What is they do? Best to at least know for yourself instead of always wondering what if. You can probably find it yourself without telling anyone the results. Go to them when or if your ever ready to let them know..." Neville suggest. He rummages back into the basket to properly spread out a blanket and set out the food he collected from the kitchen. She appreciated him giving her a chance to compose herself.

She thinks over the conversation for quite a few days before decided to talk to her head of house about it. The next weekend, she gets things done in her work room first before heading to his office.

He was grading papers. She politely waits as he ignores her to finish marking an essay before looking up at her.

"How can I be of assistance, Miss Hermione?"

She shuffles her feet for a minute to ask the questions. He waits patiently to her relief.

"I was wondering if you knew of a potion or spell that could help me find it who I am?" She avoids looking at him as she ask. She gent a bit pitiful for asking.

"Please come sit down." She takes the seat in front of his desk. "Are others still causing you trouble about your home life?"

"Well not as bad a last year. But I'm not asking because of that," she finally looks up at him. " I want to know for my self. I'm not ready to trek the world or find this family if any are out there, but .." She sighs, " I'm not a Granger. Hermione isn't even my real name. Someone in an office lived Shakespeare and suggested it to stop having to can me little girl. Or a number. Even if I have no family, I'd like to think at some point they loved me. I want to know my name."

She felt more proud than pitiful about herself as she said her thoughts outloud. Yes, she needed this. She needed to know.

The Professor stands up and walks to a large cabinet in the corner of the office. He comes back with a small vial.

"I made it last year for you. I was going to just bring it up but realized I wasn't sure if you wanted to know at the time so I saved it for it a day came when you would ask. Thank you for coming to me about it. Are you ready?"

She didn't expect it to happen immediately but she wasn't going to hesitate now. She stands up next to the desk. She follows instructions as he haves her a blade to nik her finger. 3 drops into the potion vial. He shakes it up and pulls it a long piece of parchment. She watched as he pours the liquid onto it.

Pumpkin peaks out of a pocket to watch as well. A tree forms. It was amazing to watch.

And then there it was at the bottom of the tree. Her name.

Adaline Lorelei Gaunt

Mother : Lorelei Florence Winterborne (deceased)

Father : Leonidas Noah Gaunt (deceased)

Maternal Grandmother: Florence Amelia Valentine (deceased)

Maternal Grandfather: Valerian Edward Winterborne

Paternal Grandmother: Guinevere Selvina Rosier (deceased)

Paternal Grandfather: Thomas Marvolo Gaunt nee Riddle

And on it went going back so many generations the parchment had to lengthen to make space. They waited for a good 30 minutes before it stopped.

The Professor had a frozen expression as he looked at the tree. Did that mean he knew some of the names or people? She itched to ask but she really washed to look at the full tree on her own first.

Besides... she was just excited to have a name. She loved it! It was so pretty! She was sad to see indeed her parents were not amongst the living. She hoped she could find out where they were buried to visit.

He rolls up the parchment for her and ties it with a ribbon before having it over.

"Would you like to go by your new name? It wouldn't be official till to a speak with Gringotts. I'm sure your already on record with your parents account manager." He ask.

"No, not yet. I can wait until it's official. It would mean they would contact these 2 grandfathers I apparently have so I might wait until the summer to do it." She decides. She had meant it earlier that she wasn't ready. She thanks him for his help and leaves off to her room. Details were now appearing on the tree that was fascinating to read through.

Severus was still sitting in shock after the teen left his office. He wards his office before jumping through the floo to Prince Manor. He cleans himself up before apparating away.

Slytherin Castle laid out before him , accepting him into the wards. He hurries inside where an elf takes him to the office of the Dark Lord.

"Severus, what do I owe this honor? I don't usually see you during the school year unless I'm the one doing the calling," the man behind the desk looked no older than his early 40s despite being around 70 now. Handsome and smart, he was not one to be trifled with.

"My Lord, apologies for the interruption. I have news," he bows before sitting down.

"No need to apologize, I was just going over these laws that will be discussed at the next Wizengamot. Some of these people are just plain idiots." He smirks. "Now, what's your news?"

"I found her. Adaline." The Dark Lord sits up straighter at this news. He'd been looking for his granddaughter for a long time.

"Where?! How is she? Where was she? How?!"

"She is one of my 2nd year students under my house. She arrived as Hermione Granger. I don't know how she got there, but she's been in foster care. Though this past summer she wasn't did at that location, much to my concern.

She came to me today to ask about finding out who she really was. I had already made the potion to give her so it was done immediately. "

He couldn't believe his ears. He spent the next 2 hours asking questions about her and devising a plan to meet her.

And while he wanted to keep her all to himself, he knew Winterborne had not been the same either at her disappearance. She was just a much ask he had from his daughter as she was of his son.

The next few months flew by for Hermione. Her friendships grew. She had a study group, and the Weasley twins helped her update her stand for winter holiday sales. Their best friend Lee Jordan was painter and made her a sign for the front of it.

She worked hard on not thinking about the scroll in her trunk. She learned her birthday. The foster home always marked it as November 3rd for the day she was found. To learn it was September 19t bothered her. She didn't know why it bothered her. Like the holidays, she never celebrated it.

What also bothered her was her father's death lay on Halloween. She went in to eat quickly before escaping back to her room to be alone. She cried the rest of the night.

She didn't know what happened that day but she connected enough dots to know she must have gotten lost somehow right after her father died. She knew it was stupid to question, but was she at fault for his death?
