Subaru POV

"Alright, that's great! And finally... VICTORY!" I exclaimed joyously, my voice echoing as I thrust my two arms wide open in the air.

"VICTORY!" the villagers echoed, a chorus of voices from children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly, as we completed our morning routine at the peaceful Arlam Village's radio calisthenics.

"Alright, everyone, line up!" I called out to the kids, and they happily formed a line, eagerly preparing their papers to be stamped by my signature puck stamps.

Weeks had passed since the dreaded attack on Arlam by the witch beast, and a week had gone by since the enchanting snow festival. Life had returned to a harmonious rhythm within Roswaal's domain, for the most part. The children and villagers of Arlam had moved on and made remarkable recoveries, thanks to the assistance provided by the residents of the mansion, including myself. The once-discussed invasion had gradually faded from conversations, replaced by the excitement surrounding the annual snow festival we had initiated the week before.
Then, there was Rem. Gone were the days of her icy demeanor and lack of trust. Since our heartfelt conversation several weeks ago, she had warmed up to me—more than I could have imagined. Each morning when I woke up, her beautiful face would be the first thing I saw, her hand offering me a cup, sometimes filled with tea to ward off the morning chill. She had become incredibly sweet and caring.

As for Ram, she remained her snarky, tsundere self, but I found her quirks endearing. Hehehehe.

Of course, there was Roswaal... The eccentric clown-like demeanor still clung to him, much to no one's surprise. The young Loli librarian and the magical cat, Puck, were also their usual selves.

And then, there was Emilia—my one and only Emilia-tan. Since the invasion of the witch beast, Emilia and I had grown remarkably close. We now ventured on "dates" every week, exploring the forest clearing, strolling by the lake, and wandering through the village. While we weren't officially a couple yet, I felt optimistic... I hoped, hehehehe.

However, not on this particular day. Emilia was supposed to accompany me, but Ram had informed her that an envoy from the capital would be arriving to meet her. I considered canceling the event, but the children and villagers had been eagerly looking forward to it, and I couldn't bear to let them down.

And so, I came alone.

"Stamp, stamp, stamp," I repeated, diligently pressing my puck stamp onto each child's paper.

Once I had finished, I heard a voice near me and felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Subaru, my son, that was delightful! Thank you for always entertaining our humble village. We truly appreciate it," Muraosa, the old Village Deputy Head, spoke with gratitude, bowing his head.

"The pleasure is mine, Muraosa-san. I enjoy doing it myself, so it's never a bother, hehehehehe. Besides, it's important to maintain a strong body, especially as I'm not getting any younger," I replied, scratching my head.

"Is that so, Subaru? Well, actually, I was hoping to ask you a favor if you're not too busy," Muraosa said, scratching his own head.

"Oh, it's fine, Muraosa-san. I'm free until noon. Please, ask away," I responded, offering him my undivided attention.

"Great, this way," Muraosa said, motioning for me to follow him.

Curiosity piqued, I followed Muraosa as he led me towards a vast field, where the crops swayed gently in the breeze. It was the very field where I had introduced the concept of crop rotation to the farmers of Arlam. The sight of the thriving plants filled my heart with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

As we walked along the rows of vibrant vegetation, the farmers, who had gathered there, greeted me warmly. They expressed their gratitude for the farming techniques I had shared with them, attributing the improved yields and healthier crops to the changes they had implemented.

However, they were eager to hear my perspective and seek further guidance.

"Subaru-san, everything has been getting better since we started implementing the crop rotation method you taught us," one of the farmers remarked, a mix of excitement and curiosity in his voice. "But we would love to hear your thoughts and insights. Is there anything more we can do? Any adjustments we should consider?"

I paused for a moment, taking in the earnest faces of the farmers who had put their trust in me. I knew that I had an opportunity to further enhance their farming practices and contribute to the prosperity of the village.

With a smile, I began.

"Let's talk about soil composition," I said, my voice filled with enthusiasm. "You see, the health of your crops heavily depends on the quality of the soil they grow in. By understanding the composition of your soil, you can make informed decisions about the type and amount of nutrients your crops need."

The farmers listened attentively. Their eyes focused on me as if absorbing every word I said. Encouraged by their engagement, I continued,

"Now, let's discuss irrigation techniques. Water is a precious resource, and it's crucial to use it efficiently. By implementing proper irrigation methods such as drip irrigation or timed sprinklers, using magic you can ensure that your crops receive the right amount of water without wastage."

I could see their faces light up with curiosity and understanding. They were eager to learn and apply these principles to their own fields. It was a beautiful sight to behold—the exchange of knowledge and the collective desire to improve their farming practices.

As our conversation progressed, we dove into the significance of adjusting planting schedules.

"Timing is everything," I emphasized. "By aligning your planting with the optimal seasons and weather conditions, you can maximize crop growth and yield. It's all about giving your plants the best possible chance to thrive."

The farmers nodded, taking notes and mentally absorbing the information. Their enthusiasm was contagious, spurring me to share even more insights. I spoke about the importance of organic fertilizers in maintaining soil health and promoting sustainability.

"Using organic fertilizers from livestock not only nourishes your crops but also helps preserve the environment and the long-term fertility of your soil," I explained.

Their faces lit up with appreciation as they grasped the potential of incorporating organic practices into their farming routines. And then, with a spark of creativity, I introduced them to the concept of intercropping.

"Imagine planting complementary crops together," I said, painting a vivid picture with my words. "By intercropping, you create a symbiotic relationship between different plants, utilizing space efficiently and reducing the risk of pests and diseases. Plus, it adds biodiversity to your fields!"

Their eyes widened with intrigue, and questions began to flow. The atmosphere buzzed with inquiries as we explored innovative ideas, such as introducing beneficial insects for natural pest control and experimenting with cover crops to enhance soil fertility.

As we concluded our discussion, the farmers extended their hands in gratitude, thanking me once again for the invaluable knowledge I had imparted.

"Thank you, Subaru-san!" one of them exclaimed, his voice filled with heartfelt gratitude. "We can't express how much your teachings have transformed our lives and the future of our village. We are immensely grateful for your support and wisdom."

"It's nothing! Hehehehe," I replied, trying to downplay the immense gratitude being shown towards me.

After the meeting, Muraosa took me aside while the farmers returned to tend to their fields and animals. We found ourselves in a moment of quiet reflection, away from the bustling activity.

"Subaru, my son, I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for us. Your knowledge and techniques have helped us immensely. If only I had a daughter, I would marry her off to you," the old man said, his voice choked with emotion as tears welled up in his eyes.

"Whoa, wait, Muraosa-san," I exclaimed, taken aback by his heartfelt words. "All I did was teach some basic agricultural principles. There's no need to be so grateful, hehehehe." I waved my hand dismissively, trying to lighten the mood.

"You are a truly humble man, Subaru," Muraosa replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "But please understand that your teachings have made a significant impact on our lives. On behalf of the entire village, I want to express our sincerest gratitude."

"Hehehehe, you're welcome, I guess," I replied, scratching my head and feeling a mix of humility and joy. It was overwhelming to see the profound effect my knowledge had on the villagers' lives.

Muraosa reached out, placing a hand on my shoulder, his eyes reflecting deep appreciation.

"Subaru, never underestimate the power of what you have given us. Your guidance and support have given us hope and a path to a better future. It is a gift we will forever cherish." he said once more.

"Hehehehe, if you say so," I replied once more, unable to contain my amusement at the overly grateful gestures of the deputy village elder.
"Oh, by the way," Muraosa spoke, reaching into his pocket and retrieving two small boxes that fit snugly in his hand. He immediately placed them in my open palm, one by one.
"Whoa, wait, Muraosa-san! I can't accept these! It's really nothing. I was glad to help you all, and I don't expect anything in return, truly," I protested, attempting to give the boxes back to the old man.
"Nonsense, Subaru, my son. Please, open them," Muraosa insisted, pushing the boxes back into my hand.

"Please, open them, Subaru. I swear you'll love them," he said once more, winking at me mischievously. "They're something special for a guy like you," he added, leaving me intrigued.

Feeling both curious and touched by his persistence, I carefully removed the lids of the boxes, revealing their contents. My eyes widened with surprise as I saw what lay inside—two beautifully crafted rings, each with unique designs that sparkled in the light. They were clearly symbols of love, Eternal love.

"Muraosa-san... these... they're Beautiful," I whispered, my voice filled with awe and disbelief.

"It's the wedding ring from me and my late wife, who died 20 years ago Subaru. I had it repaired and retouched. It's been sitting in my chamber for a decade. Please accept it, my son. It's my way of saying thanks for all the sacrifices and care you've done for us," Muraosa said, his voice filled with emotion as tears welled up in his eyes once more.

"Muraosa-san..." I was at a loss for words, deeply moved by his gesture.
"Please give it to your future wife, to the one you will marry in the future and have a family with," Muraosa continued, his voice filled with a sense of longing.

"But I don't have a girlfriend yet," I replied, feeling a pang of uncertainty.

"But you have someone in your heart now, right?" Muraosa replied with a knowing smile.

He was right. I had someone in my heart at that very moment—Emilia-tan, my one and only. She brought sunshine and happiness into my life, more than anyone else, more than my own parents, more than my life itself.

"All right, Muraosa-san. I accept! Thank you for this incredible gift," I said to the old man, my voice filled with gratitude and determination.

I held the wedding ring in my hands, feeling its weight and the significance it held. It symbolized not only the bond between Muraosa and his late wife but also the future—my future. This ring right here would be the ring that I would give to my Emilia-tan, and I was certain of it.

"I won't take up any more of your time, Subaru. I'm sure you still have work to attend to at the Margrave's," Muraosa said, breaking the tender moment.

"Oh shoot! I forgot I have to peel potatoes today, or else Ram-Neesama will torch my butt. Thanks again, Muraosa-san!" I exclaimed, quickly bowing to the old man before turning on my heels and briskly making my way out of the village, heading towards Roschi's mansion.

On my way toward Roswaal's manor, I passed by the deep woods. Though it was only a mile or two away, I could feel the strain on my feet and the tightness in my lungs.

Despite being in good physical shape, I decided to slow down and take it easy, not wanting to risk pushing myself too hard. If Ram torches my butt, so be it; it wasn't anything new.

However, my mind kept drifting back to the rings given to me by Muraosa. Curiosity and awe overwhelmed me once more, compelling me to take one of them out of my pocket and open it. The ring was truly beautiful, a testament to the craftsmanship and sentiment behind it.

I held the ring in my hand, gazing at its intricate design. Thoughts of Emilia flooded my mind, and I couldn't help but wonder how she would react if I were to propose to her using this ring. I allowed myself to daydream, imagining the scene unfolding before me.

"Emilia-tan, since the moment I laid eyes on you, I have fallen in love and never looked back," I said dreamily, picturing her radiant smile. "Will you marry me?"

But the words felt too ordinary, too cliché for someone as extraordinary as my Emilia-tan. I wanted to create a proposal that would truly capture her heart, something unique and memorable.

"If you marry me, I will be the happiest man in the world, and my happiness will know no bounds," I continued, trying to find the right words. But it still felt lacking, lacking that special touch that would make it unforgettable.

"Damn it, Subaru! Think!" I scolded myself silently, racking my brain for inspiration. And then, it struck me. I remembered something that had touched my heart back on Earth, a line from a movie or a book that had stuck with me.

Closing my eyes, I took one of the rings in my hand and began to imagine the perfect proposal, channeling all the romantic energy I could muster.

"With this hand, I will lift your sorrows," I began, my voice becoming more tender and heartfelt.

"Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine."

I continued, imagining holding a candle as I spoke,

"With this candle, I will light your way in darkness."

And finally, I took a deep breath and said,

"With this ring, I ask you to be mine."

As I finished the words, I slipped the ring onto... A hand? That hadn't been there before—a white porcelain hand.

"WTF?!"

As I stood there with my heart racing, I couldn't believe what was unfolding before my eyes. Looking up, I was shocked to see a silver-haired elf with amethyst eyes and porcelain skin. Was it Emilia? She looked like It... but it couldn't be... but there she stood, wearing a black and orange wedding dress. Whoa, this was unexpected... Very unexpected... WTF IS HAPPENING?!

"I do," she replied. her voice echoed softly, a gentle affirmation that sent tremors through my being. Her words carried a depth of sincerity and commitment that resonated with my soul.

"Huh? WHAT THE ACTUA-" was all I could say before darkness engulfed me.
