S2 E2 Good Wives Club
AU stories for NCIS episodes. Each is independent from all the others since this is based on the possibility of parallel universes and multiple timelines…. many, many of them. Later on some may seem to follow something that happened in an earlier AU episode story but it's probably coincidence unless I say otherwise in the beginning. Again, these are AU scenes/stories which means a character may die in one story and be alive in the next one.
This is a short alternate universe story/scene for season 2, episode 2 The Good Wives Club
The original episode aired on October 5, 2004.
The dialogue in some of this is from the episode.

And finally, all mistakes are mine.
Tony was startled to see the woman sitting on the bed in chains wearing her wedding dress. She looked more shocked to see him than the other way around. His training told him to clear the room but his gut said she was padlocked in there alone. He stayed in the doorway ready to get his weapon if needed but he was pretty sure he wouldn't.
"Petty Officer Swain, are you all right?"
"Where's Brett?" She looked scared or very nervous with him there.
Tony wanted to tell her that he was dead, that she was safe and would never have to see the jerk again but he remembered things Ducky had said and the times Gibbs had dealt with traumatized people. The man was very good at it for a functional mute. Don't give them more trauma. Keep it simple. Stay calm and reassuring.
"He can't be here right now," he said and then added, "There was an accident and I'm here to take you to him." That was a lie.
He watched her relax just a tad and took the opportunity to back out of the bunker and into the corridor where she could still see him. She'd been a prisoner for almost four months and there was no way to know about her state of mind. He took out his phone as she crossed her feet at the ankles and smoothed her dress.
"Boss, DiNozzo, I got her. Bunker 2, corridor C. She's okay but I need you down here."
"Good work, DiNozzo. Stay alert and don't do anything. We'll be right there."
It wasn't long at all before everyone was there with the EMTs on their heels. Kate and Gibbs used the bolt cutters on her chains while everyone else stayed outside.
"Brett and I are going to get married," she told them when she was free.
They were trying to decide what to do about transporting her, wedding dress and all, when NCIS Agent Jane Melankovic asked Tony what he thought her reaction would be when she found out the priest was dead. The petty officer overheard and at first seemed to be in quiet shock but then she got aggressive: screaming, crying, swinging her arms and kicking out. Gibbs, Kate and one EMT held her easily enough and a light sedative was administered to keep her from hurting herself.
Deciding about transport wasn't a problem after that and she was safely secured on the stretcher with twice as many straps, just in case. Gibbs put The Good Wife's Guide in an evidence bag and gave it to Kate.
"Kate, I want you to go with her to the hospital. Make sure all the doctors and nurses know that book has been her bible for four long months."
"The guide is evidence," the agent that was not his told him, like he didn't know that.
"Chaplain Evans is dead. Is there someone else we need to worry about prosecuting?" NCIS Agent Jane Melankovic hesitated but finally shook her head no. "You go too," Gibbs told her. "We'll start processing this bunker for you."
"Yea, we already did the other one so we have experience," Tony griped as he, Gibbs and McGee snapped on gloves to start the job. The EMTs headed for the surface with their patient and the NCIS agents: Kate in front and Jane behind.
Gibbs' team would be going home and Melankovic would be the one having contact with the petty officer. He knew Kate would tell her about Stockholm Syndrome and probably call Ducky too for more insight into what was possibly going on in the former captive's mind. The medical examiner would most probably find it fascinating.
