S2 E10 AU Chained
AU stories for NCIS episodes. Each is independent from all the others since this is based on the possibility of parallel universes and multiple timelines…. many, many of them. Later on some may seem to follow something that happened in an earlier AU episode story but it's probably coincidence unless I say otherwise in the beginning. Again, these are AU scenes/stories which means a character may die in one story and be alive in the next one. Or it might be a missing scene.
This is a short alternate universe story/scene for season 2, episode 10, Chained
The original episode aired on December 14, 2004.

And finally, all mistakes are mine.
Tim was at his desk when Gibbs called.
"McGee, we finished the inventory."
"That's great, boss. Was everything there?"
"Yep, we have all 87 pieces. You get to tell the Deputy Secretary of State."
"What do you want?" Anna Elliott, Deputy Secretary of State demanded. "I've notified the FBI."
"I'm sorry you did that," Tim told her. "I'm calling to inform you that all of the antiquities have been recovered and are secure."
She didn't look especially pleased. "All?"
"Yes, all 87 pieces."
"What about the two men who stole them?"
"They're both dead, ma'am, and the buyer is in custody."
The Deputy Secretary of State glared at him and Tim was already self conscious.
"And your missing agent?"
"He's fine."
"My formal complaint stands, Agent McGee."
"Yes, ma'am."
"I'm not taking it back."
"That's fine, ma'am. Agent Gibbs will send you a detailed report as soon as he's back in the office. Goodbye Ms. Deputy Secretary of State."
Gibbs was working on his boat when she came down the stairs. He stopped working and watched her approach him with a slight smile on her face.
"Anna," he addressed her, admiring the hazel eyes and thick auburn hair of the Deputy Secretary of State.
"Jethro," she said and did the same. "Do you have anything to drink?"
He poured her some bourbon and she stood quite close to him.
"Agent McGee did pretty well today."
"Yeah, he's learning," he smiled and poured some bourbon for himself.
"How have you been?" she inquired and slipped off her shoes.
