He did not know how long he had slept. His eyelids began to twitch slowly until he finally managed to open them. He jumped to his feet and rubbed his sleepy eyes with his fists, disoriented and with a dazed brain.
There was an instant when he felt a whiplash of pain as if someone had run a steamroller over his entire body. But it had already evaporated; only a dull throbbing in his temples remained, like the echo of what had just happened to him.
When he managed to clear his mind, he glanced around.
He was in a vast, luxurious room filled with expensive furniture and crimson silk curtains draped over the windows.
He leaned on the palm of one hand and stretched out fully, massaging his forehead. His body seemed intact, but his brain had the sensation of having eaten a beating.
Suddenly.
"Poof!"
A foul stench, like a stagnant puddle, wafted into his nostrils. He put a hand to his nose in horror. Looking down at himself, he saw that he was drenched in sweat and covered in rather suspicious black spots. And his previously normal arm appeared to be full of tense muscles.
Startled by the change, he got out of bed and went to the mirror at the back of the room. He took off his shirt and inspected everything.
Before taking that Ambrosia, his body looked like someone who never gets out of bed, and his face wasn't exactly handsome.
But in the mirror, he now saw himself reflected as an attractive 18-year-old. He was 6'2", had shoulder-length black hair, and his blue eyes sparkled with vitality. His body was slender but imposing, with well-shaped facial features.
He usually didn't give a damn about appearances, but he had to admit that his splendor left him in such awe that his jaw dropped. Though afterward, when he saw the dark spots marring his pale skin, he twisted his gesture in disgust.
'I'd better take a shower before I go to bed.' He thought. 'My little sis won't approve of me smelling like a well.'
Despite the discomfort of confused memories of a life that didn't seem like his own, he cared little deep down. In times past and present, he was still himself.
He picked up the filthy shirt and opened the next door. Inside, a room filled with hot steam rising from a Jacuzzi in the background, along with the shampoo and perfume smell.
He stripped off his pants and dove into the hot water. Relaxing, he enjoyed the feeling of cleanliness as the jacuzzi restored his mind's peace. And so the minutes passed until he emerged gleaming like new.
He changed his clothes and climbed into bed to rest.
Touya awoke to the sun's first golden rays streaming through the curtains. An uneasy feeling hovered over him, like a nagging thought.
Now that he looked at it, his suspicions from last night had turned out to be true. He lay there staring at the ceiling, his mind full of disturbing thoughts as fragments of memories flickered in his memory.
Last night, digging through his memories, he made a startling discovery.
His adoptive mother and sister were as familiar to him as if he had known them before he was reincarnated.
He remembered clearly how, at age three, his mother lovingly took him in after her husband was murdered. Since then, his mother, Yuriko Takagi, has guided the Takagi Estate and her home with wisdom.
And then there was Saya Takagi, as bright as the first ray of sunshine. Her sister had proven to be a genius in studies and a science lover.
The most important: she was a cute tsundere!
In this new life, the two most precious people to him turned out to be those he already knew from his past life: from watching the anime 'High School of the Dead.' It caught him as off guard as it turned out to be revealing.
"High School of the Dead. So unreal..."
Touya stood up slowly, like a sloth, and looked at himself in the mirror. He pulled his long hair back with an elastic band as the strands flowed through his fingers like water. He wore a white shirt and black pants, mentally preparing himself for what would come.
He recalled the events of the anime he had watched, 'High School of the Dead.' That world had been thrown into chaos after a strange phenomenon known as the 'Apocalypse Virus' brought everything down as unstoppable as the tide.
For no reason, the dead began to rise, biting humans and multiplying exponentially until they became a plague.
"I don't remember the day the apocalypse broke out in this world, but for my own safety, I must accompany Saya to the academy."
"I must also protect my mother, whatever it takes."
Saya Takagi, one of the story's main protagonists, would likely attract danger and trouble to advance the plot. So, to prevent these two people from going down a dangerous path, he would take on the role of her guardian with unwavering dedication.
Touya's eyebrows furrowed slightly as his face became solemn.
"It seems that the butterfly's wings have flapped much earlier than expected. I must not fail."
Putting on his shoes, he remembered that Saya's father and her mother's husband were still alive in the anime. He didn't know if the initial chaotic events would run their course or veer off into unexpected surprises, but either way, he was determined to be prepared for anything.
Knock, knock!
"Get your lazy ass down here, you big oaf! Breakfast is getting cold!"
As he brushed his teeth, Touya heard impatient knocking on the door along with his sister's annoyed shouts, calling him to come down to the dining room.
The morning routine seemed not to change, even with his presence.
Touya sketched a wry smile and approached the door. Opening it, he was met with a pink vision, looking adorably displeased.
There, standing with her hands on her hips and two pigtails of long pink hair waving, was her little sister.
Saya Takagi. Although she was now growing into a beautiful sixteen-year-old with a mouth-watering figure, she still had to lift her chin to look at him with her fierce orange eyes, so significant was the difference between their heights. Those eyes, and their endearing frustration, always provoked a surge of affection in Touya's soul.
"Good morning, little sis!". He sketched a teasing smile and slapped her under the chin, earning an indignant "Hey!"
"You-you, why are you laughing, you monstrously huge idiot brother?" She irritatedly waved at him, her ample bosom bouncing tantalizingly under her light blouse. "Wait... Who are you?!"
