S2 E11 AU Black Water

AU stories for NCIS episodes. Each is independent from all the others since this is based on the possibility of parallel universes and multiple timelines…. many, many of them. Later on some may seem to follow something that happened in an earlier AU episode story but it's probably coincidence unless I say otherwise in the beginning. Again, these are AU scenes/stories which means a character may die in one story and be alive in the next one. Or it might be a missing scene.

This is a short alternate universe story/scene for season 2, episode 11, Black Water

The original episode aired on January 11, 2005.
The dialogue in some of this is from the episode.

Private Detective Monroe Cooper walked into the hangar looking for Thomas McAllister. The brother of Brian McAllister had money and he was hoping to collect a few bucks.

"Thomas McAllister," he called out. A man came from around an airplane.

"Yea, who are you?"

"Detective Monroe Cooper. I'd like to talk to you about your brother."

Thomas studied Cooper with his smarmy smile and trench coat.

"What about him?"

"I think I found him. The reward was for identifying his killer but what if it was just an accident? Is that worth anything to you?"

"Are you saying you'll only reveal his location if I pay you?"

Cooper smiled, sincerely this time. "No, I'll still tell you. I didn't mean to make it sound like that. It's taken quite a bit of time and research and I'm pretty low on funds."

Thomas wondered if he should ask how much the man wanted or just throw out what he was willing to pay. He'd like to bury Brian. They had a lot of problems but they were brothers and it would also stop the rumors and conspiracy theories about him having something to do with Brian's disappearance.

"How much?"

Cooper looked surprised for a second. He must not have expected Thomas to ask.

"$25K"

Now Thomas was the one who looked surprised.

"You can't just tell me. I need you to show me," he insisted.

Cooper nodded. "I'm pretty sure I know where the car is and I believe his remains will be with it. Isn't there someone we should notify?"

Thomas agreed with that idea. He didn't want to be in any spotlight and if Cooper was who he thought he was, the man would relish being in the spotlight.

"You're the man who solves the unsolvable, aren't you?"

"My publicist's idea," he confessed.

"Okay, Mr. Cooper. Brian was Navy. I think the first call should be to NCIS."

Cooper looked disappointed. "The first call? Are you serious?"

"Why not?"

"The state police will help us… me, get more publicity," he sighed. "Not a lot mind you. Not at first. Just a report that we think we found the car."

Thomas thought about it and the man was right. To dispel rumors he needed lots of publicity so the whole world knew he didn't do anything to his brother.

"I agree," he told Cooper. "Tomorrow morning go to the state police and tell them. I'm sure NCIS will show up when the news hits the airwaves. Where do you think my brother is," he asked.

Cooper walked up to Thomas and extended his hand. "We have a deal on the money? I could really use it."

Thomas nodded and shook the detective's hand. "Yes, we have a deal." It would be worth it and wouldn't break his bank. He might have to forgo buying some airplane parts for a few months but that was okay if they found Brian.

"Black Lake. I think it was an accident. He was probably driving too fast."

"The car is underwater?"

"Yes, the state police will need divers."

Thomas shook his head sadly. "Only 20 miles away."

Ten days later in Shenandoah, after the graveside service at the family cemetery, the team attended a gathering at the MCallister family compound. SecNav insisted they attend to show the public that there were no lingering doubts about the death of Lieutenant Brian McAllister. It was an accident.

The team had arrived in three cars and Gibbs and Ducky were gone after about 30 minutes of mindless, useless mingling. Tony enjoyed talking to the people, especially the women and there were so many beautiful women. Abby and Tim spent some time talking to Monroe Cooper about his cases. Kate and Thomas McAllister hit it off and he'd asked her out on a date saying something about flying to New York.
