The doctors said her mother needed a change of scenery and recommended this place. A small town in the middle of nowhere, a place she's never heard of before. Good air quality, few residents, no major stress factor. A place where her mom could hopefully pull herself together, relax and let the past wounds heal.
So she did what, she assumed, no sensible people would do: quit her 9 to 5 job, sold her small apartment, her car, packed up her and her mother's belongings and a few furniture, and sold the old family home with the rest of the furniture. Then got their things moved to the small house she purchased in the mountains with a cheap company, while they travelled through the country to their new home in the mover truck…
It took a long time and she hated every second of it. She let her mother ride shotgun so she would be more comfortable, and could actually sleep through most of the boring way there. While struggling in the backseat, she started to apply for online part-time or freelance jobs. Thankfully, her previous employer gave her an exceptional recommendation, which she felt like she deserved. She's always worked hard, finished all the projects in time, and everyone's been satisfied with her work while she was there. Looking out the window, she saw a sign "Stardew Valley 18 mi". She tried to search the web to see what kind of place this Pelican Town is. There were some festivals held there that were somewhat famous, like the Luau or the Stardew Valley Fair, which seemed the biggest tourist attraction in the town. But beside these, there was nothing. It's not like she liked living in the big city, but undoubtedly, the possibilities there seemed endless and somewhat overwhelming compared to this place. She didn't have very high expectations about this place or her future there in general, but her mom… Well, she was in ecstasy. She couldn't wait to move in to the new house, to decorate it, make a flower garden, meet the villagers, maybe get back to a work of some sort when she was up to it. She hasn't seen her mom being this happy and excited for a very long time and this was all for her. So she swallowed the bitter pill and just tried to focus on making things easier on her mother.
