This fan fiction will be based of Zatanna and Robin from the ' Young Justice' series and it's Dick Grayson's robin. I'm trying very much to follow the plot of the series but if things are looking grim I'll probably change it up a bit.

Part 1

Zatanna POV

'It's barely been 8 hours since my father was taken to become Doctor Fate, and about 8 hours since I've been balling my eyes out. He was gone it's all my fault…because I had to put on the helmet, but I did it to help my friends and justice league. Was that a mistake? As I had these thoughts my tears began to flood again through again and my sobs muffled again, this being because every time id pour out he'd be there to act as my pillow. It has been a while since it unfolded, I shouldn't be this pathetic. I'm just embarrassing the two of us and my father.

Over in the next room, Batman was addressing the rest of the justice league to the changes, at least Doctor Fate had apparently agreed to stay with them but he still wasn't her father and never will be. "Everything will be okay, you'll be fine" Robin's word to me were soft, the only response I could let out was a nod as my throat was in pain. "Robin, Aqualad! A moment" Batman called for the two, I slowly detached from Robin and he looked me in the eye, I gave him a little nod to tell him I was okay.

Robin POV

She doesn't look fine but there's nothing I can do about it, Batman currently wants to talk and it better be good because he was enjoying- consoling his friend. "Do you think she'll be fine" Aqualad asked me, a frowned a little but nodded. "Yeah but it's tough" Aqualad nodded as we continued to Batman.

"Robin how is Zatanna holding up?"

"Fine" I responded

"I'll cut straight to the chase. We failed in all negotiations with Doctor Fate, he refused to give up Zatara he did however give us a brief moment with him. He wants Zatanna to join the team" I had little smile appear across my face but it quickly disappeared when Batman bores straight into my eyes again. "You and Aqualad will have the duty over here as I'm making you team leader and Assistant. Aqualad you're the earlier and the Robin the latter, dismissed but let her know to see me immediately and I'll pass her this information"

"I think it would be better if we do it" I quipped at him, because there's no way he was making this sound any better, He'd make everything much worse. Surprisingly he agreed and there we go. Aqualad and I left immediately.

6 hours later

The news of the new addition brought great joy to the team and seemed to have brought down her anxiety a bit. Which was good although she still want sometime to process alone but it couldn't be helped everyone just go through these things eventually and sometimes it has to be alone. "Thanks for helping me guys" Zatanna told the others, "it was nothing" Meghan replied cheerfully and clapped her hands together, "We'll leave you to your room décor" The girls said as they exited leaving only me in the doorway. Her eyes met mine and I couldn't help but notice the bags under her eyes from the crying and the messiness of her hair but upon all this she still looked amazing. "I'll be fine, Thank you" I was brought out my head by the comment and only nodded before leaving her room.

2nd January

It'd been a day since we reverted the the Justice league from Vandal Savage's mind control but one thing was Batman and some other legionnaires had disappeared for an amount of time without any record of their actions. And I was stuck trying to help Batman figure it out, we'd scanned almost everywhere but nothing found so far. "We seem to be stuck in a rut" his broody voice said.

"Yeah but I'm think-" he immediately cut me off starting a sentence of his own, " I think you've helped enough, you should return to your team… a spend the little free time you have left. Tomorrow business as usual" He didn't leave me any room for retaliation and knowing Batman it wasn't like him to hand out free time unless he wanted to go over something on his own. But he's right some free time wouldn't hurt.

Narrators POV

Mount Justice

"Well are we ready for the beach!" Wally yelled as he zoomed around bringing everyone's items to the bay. "Relax speedbrain, what about Robin?" Meghan stated as he stopped zooming about. He let a soft sigh and turned to the rest, "Robin is probably Robin-ing with Batman" Aqualad and super Boy shared a moan of agreement with him. They knew it wasn't easy being Batman sidekick and after what happened with the league not long ago it isn't far fetched for him to be helping Batman uncover everything that went down. I mean he is 'Robin'.

"Well we can't just leave, he won't know where we are" they all nodded in agreement to Artemis and turned to look for other solutions to the problem, during this time making Meghan stated they never knew when he was going to get off the duty and didn't think Batman would be happy if they interrupted them. As it seemed like there was no other solution, Zatanna met them at the bay.

"Hey guys, I thought you would have left by now" Meghan nods and the others just seem to have a solution as the two now stare confusedly at them.

After explaining their situation to them Zatanna agrees simply because she did not feel like moving out today, but that had its own reason as well. "But are you sure you don't want to come?" She nodded to Artemis response, she just needed a bit of rest. "Don't worry I'll tell Robin where to find you guys. You guys have fun" she stated us she waved at them. "We'll try but it will be hard without another babe" Zatanna rolled her eyes as she watched the others leave.

"Do you think she's okay?" Artemis asked the rest, there was no response, just everyone shrugging. "Robin is with her…they'll be fine" Wally said with a little smirk across his face.

'Dammit' Zatanna cursed as she planted her fist into her bed. 'Again nothing! Why can't I just figure out a way…there has to be…it can't be over' she flung the book of mystical arts that lies open in front of her into the wall. She had decided not to go on the trip because she wanted to see if there were any spells that could help her free her father and well she wasn't getting anywhere now was she. 'arghhh' immediately after her moan of frustration she heard knocking on her door. There was no one else around now but her and most likely possibility of Robin, who may be the one knocking as well. She quickly shifted her 'research' under her bed and walked to the door, upon opening she did confirm it was Robin and also confirmed that their team's assumption was correct as he was still fully suited. "Hey is everything okay?"

"Yes…" Robin shot her an accusing look, a look that made her aware he knew she was lying. "No…come in" she said as she left the door open, so he'd walk in. "Okay…so what's wrong?" Robin asked upon entering and sitting himself on the bed beside her, he watched as she nervously ran her hand through her hair and eventually stood up to face him. "On the night when we freed the league, I tried to release my dad again after taking out Dr. Fate but I still couldn't…since then I've been trying to find other methods but I'm getting nothing from any book or scroll just nothing. I miss him, I really do" Robin softly placed his arm on her shoulder in an effort to comfort her, it worked as he noticed her body relax and her breathing calm. "So that's why you tried to destroy the wall" she rolled her eyes at his tease and looked to the book she threw across the room, it's pages scattered and torn. "I'm sure a solution will turn up…you just have to be patient. The adults are trying their best to negotiate with him everyday, we'll just have to trust them for now" she nodded in agreement and the two remained in silence for about a minute before Robin started to speak out again. "The others are gone…so why don't we entertain each other" she felt a little blush appear on her face and looked to him square in his eyes. This action caught him off guard as he felt himself staring deep into her eyes as if she was casting a spell of him with just a look. "Okay Boy-wonder, what do you have planned" she asked as she hit his nose with her index finger.

"So this is Gotham…it's not as bad in person" Zatanna said as they walked through the streets, they were not in official hero wear. Zatanna was in her normal get up while Robin wore his red and yellow hoodie with green pants and his shades. "Well that's mainly because it's during the day" he smirked as he took her hand into his and still looked at her, "but just remain close".

"So where are we going?"

"Well it's the premiering of Harry Potter and the death Hallows" Robin immediately saw her eyes perk up and mood shift, "really?" He simply nodded in response to her question and began to signal a cab. "How did you know I was a fan? Don't tell me it's because I cast spells too" Robin chuckled as he looked at her, "well-"

"You're a detective" she interrupted him mockingly. The cab appears and the two immediately hop in, "where am I taking ya love birds too?" A bit taken back by the tag their eyes met trying to scan for each other's reaction and then looked away. "The cinema" Robin said as his eyes drifted out the window, taking in the sights of his city and occasionally stealing glances at Zatanna who was equally admiring his city and him as well. She wouldn't lie, she felt most at ease with him despite not ever seeing his naked face before, She just felt like she could trust him. It must have been his upbeat nature and sheer intelligence and capability that made him seem so reliable and the kiss they shared on New Year's Eve was great as well and she really did enjoy her time whenever she was with him.

In a few minutes they'd arrive at the cinema and they noticed the longest cue outside the cinema. Robin was genuinely shocked, 'so all these Gothammites like Harry Potter' he noted as they made their way to join the line. "I'm all for watching this movie Rob, but this line is treacherous" Zatanna pointed out as she slugged herself on his back. 'She's right…we've been standing in here for a good hour and it hasn't seemed to move, Guess I'll use my other super power' he said in his mind as he broke back to reality. " Give me a second" she watched as he made his way and vanished into the crowd.

"Zatanna." She looks up to Robin and her down to her watch, "where'd you go?" She noticed that his proud smirk plastered across his face, he grabbed her hand and began to lead her between the crowds. "Follow me okay" she nodded as they began to make their way to booth of the cinema but Zatanna confused, stared at him. 'What are they doing here? They'll have to wait like all the others to cut across unless he wanted to get in by 'other means' One of the workers approached the pair and for a moment she thought they'd been busted.

"Follow me young master" Robin smiled as he turned to her and whispered into her ears, "follow my lead". She nodded and watched as he entangled their arms together and followed the Usher, "sorry for the inconvenience Young master" The usher said as he handed them to VIP tickets and began to move them toward the theatre. "It's nothing to worry about" The usher hummed as they continued to walk on, he noticed the confused look Zatanna kept giving him as they drew nearer and nearer to the theatre. "It was my Father's fault after all, being busy and all he forgets some of these things. He actually told me he was thinking of coming to see a movie one of these days with a partner, so I guess you one could say I was scouting for him" The usher laughed and opened the door to the theatre as they'd arrived. "Your seats are the first row, I will have to be taking my leave now" The Usher said as he proceed to exit but was halted by Robin so he could tip him.

"Boy wonder…might explaining what just happened" Zatanna quipped as she stared at the Robin who laughed lightly. " We do have about 30 minutes before the movie starts so why not" he stated us they both took a seat. "so you're telling me, you're Bruce Wayne's adopted kid, Bruce Wayne is Batman and you're being so nonchalant about it! It's hot" Robin blushed at the latter part of the comment, "Hey you gotta promise me you won't tell anyone, not even the team. Batman is tight about this stuff, so it must be our little secret" he winked whiles saying latter to her. She nodded in an agreement.

"Can I ask you one more thing?" In response Robin nodded and looked into eyes, "What's your name your actual name"

"Dick"

3 hours later

"That was amazing!" Robin watched as Zatanna squeaked like the fan girl she was, he tuned out of her rambling to look at the time and it was shocked to notice it was almost 7pm. They'd better be getting back to the league, it was getting late.

"Zatanna we should get go-" he was cut off as her lips joined together with his, it was brief this time unlike the one on New Year's Eve which lasted slightly longer. "A think you gift, you really lifted a lot of weight off my shoulder today…Thank you"

"It's no problem…as long as you're happy" there was a bit of silence between the two before robin spoke up again. "we should get going before we're extra late"
