A/N: I know that Kagami Tsurugi's birthday is techincally not until November 20. However, I wrote this as a birthday gift for KagamiPINKAgreste, who is very special to me. PINK, I hope you have a happy birthday today!
It was a cold late fall day in Paris, but that didn't dampen the spirits of Kagami Tsurugi and co., who were gathered at Luka Couffaine's houseboat for a monumentous occasion, namely Kagami's birthday. The boat was decked out in all sorts of streamers, banners and other party decorations, and Nino Lahiffe was getting everyone in the party mood with "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" by Chic. However, Kagami was in anything but a party mood as she checked her phone, and Marinette Dupain-Cheng took notice of this:
"What's wrong, Kagami? You look impatient."
Kagami sighed. "Adrien's not here. He should've been here by now."
Marinette put her hand on Kagami's shoulder. "Hey, I understand your frustration, but I'm not worried. If there's anything I've learned from Adrien, it's that he never goes back on his word. When he says he'll do something, he'll do it without fail!"
Kagami crossed her arms. "I just hope you're right, Marinette."
"Lemme ask you: Adrien's your boyfriend, right?"
"Well, yes…"
"And he has faith in you, right?"
Kagami nodded. "He does."
"So why not have faith in him? Shouldn't a good relationship be built on trust?"
"Marinette's right," said Tikki. "Adrien wouldn't miss this occasion for the world!"
Even Longg had something to add:
"Confucius says: Man who runs in front of bus gets tired, but man who runs behind bus gets exhausted."
Kagami groaned. "Longg, I'm pretty sure Confucius never said that. Anyways, Marinette, that's an interesting point, although I will admit, I find it rather ironic coming from you considering your past obsession with Adrien."
Marinette rubbed the back of her head. "OK, so I screwed up! But hey, at least Luka set me back on the right path!"
"Hey Love Song, are you and Kagami having fun?" asked Luka.
Kagami shook her head. "Except for Adrien's absence, yes."
"I know, it's not easy not knowing when he'll arrive, but he'll be here soon; I can feel it!"
"Really?"
"Hey, I may not know Adrien as well as my Love Song does, but I know he wouldn't miss your birthday party for the world!"
"OH MY HIBISCUSES!" Rose Lavillant ran up to the group. "Did you guys see the cake that Kagami's getting?"
Marinette smiled. "You can thank me for that."
Kagami smiled, too. "I haven't seen the cake yet, but I'm grateful that Marinette at least took the time to prepare one. Let us see it, then."
Marinette led Kagami and the rest over to the cake, which was a huge triple-decker affair with the words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAGAMI" stenciled on it in icing, each word occupying a different layer of cake. Kagami gasped when she saw it.
"Wow, it's so big! That must've taken a lot of effort on your part, Marinette."
Marinette rubbed the back of her head. "Well, my parents helped out, too…"
Just then, Ivan Bruel reached for the cake and attempted to swipe some of the frosting.
"IVAN!" exclaimed Marinette.
Ivan backed away from the cake. "Sorry, this cake looked really delicious."
Marinette smiled. "Don't worry, you'll get a piece! Let's just sing 'Happy Birthday' to Kagami first, OK?"
"OK."
"Ready, everyone?"
"Ready!" said all the guests.
Marinette and the other partygoers proceeded to sing "Happy Birthday" to Kagami, who, despite having some anxiety about where Adrien was, relished in the attention that was being given to her. Then, when everyone was cheering after the song…
"SURPRISE!"
A guy wearing a Shadow the Hedgehog costume burst out of the cake, much to everyone's shock. Kagami had a feeling about him, too:
"I know that voice…"
"Happy Birthday, Kagami!"
The guy in the Shadow costume removed the head, revealing that it was none other than Adrien Agreste. Kagami gasped when she saw him.
"Adrien…you did this for me? I…I don't know what to say…"
"Easy, Kagami! I just want you to accept my gift…"
"Well, finally!" said Plagg. "Frosting, cardboard and sweat's not a good smell combination!"
Adrien handed Kagami a green envelope, which she opened. Inside was a homemade card with the caption "TO THE MOST AMEOWZING GIRL IN THE WORLD" and a drawing of a black cat. When she opened the card, she not only found a caption inside saying "YOU'RE PURR-FECT FOR ME", but also…
"Two round-trip tickets to Tokyo?" Kagami scratched her head. "I know you love me very much, but why do you want to visit Japan with me?"
"And that's where the second part of the gift comes in!"
Adrien handed Kagami an identical green envelope, and when she opened it, she found two tickets for AnimeJapan, perhaps the largest anime convention in Japan. Her eyes widened when she saw them:
"You wanted to go to an anime convention with me? Adrien that's so sweet of you!"
"And the best part is, I hear the creator of The Robinsons of the Catastrophe is gonna be there!"
Kagami let out a loud gasp when she heard this.
"OHMIGOSH, YES! I've always wanted to meet Kyoko Nagasawa! Adrien, I love you!"
Kagami gave Adrien a big hug and kiss, which elicited a collective "awww" from the other partygoers. Just when Kagami thought she couldn't find any more reasons to love Adrien, he came along with this. Similarly, Adrien was elated that she accepted his gift and was hotly anticipating this trip with her. Before they could continue smooching each other's brains out, though, Marinette tapped Kagami on the shoulder.
"Why do you interrupt me when I'm expressing my gratitude to Adrien?"
Marinette smiled nervously. "Look, Kagami, I'm really happy for you and Adrien, but why don't you open your other presents?"
Kagami smiled. "If you say so."
Kagami proceeded to accept a gift from Marinette, which turned out to be a Nendoroid of Kaspar Robinson, the main protagonist from The Robinsons of the Catastrophe. Overall, this would prove to be quite possibly her most memorable birthday.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
